Totally cliché, but I'm going to daringly say that Henderson Park has something for everyone. When…read moreI was there, I observed a kids soccer game, picnickers, hikers, dogs being walked by their owners, Girl Scouts having a meeting, fisherpeople, photoshoots, children playing, birthday parties, and people just chilling by the lake. Seriously, that's nearly everyone who wants to be outside! Regarding hiking, the trails are not marked very clearly. The map doesn't show all the turnoffs, and it gets confusing. Maybe it's this way to give you a sense of adventure? At least it's tough to get really lost since you're often within sight of houses or the road. Beautiful woods! As for restrooms, there was a porta potty in the parking lot adjacent to the playground by Lake Erin, and the map indicates that there are other restrooms in Henderson Park too. Speaking of maps, I might recommend a quick peek at one before you go since the park can be accessed from different roads (Henderson and Livsey). Didn't get to explore the other side of the park with the native plant and wildlife walk this trip but next time!

This is a great neighborhood park. If I lived nearby, I'd take a walk here every chance I could. In addition to the trails, there are athletic fields, a kids play area and a great wide deck where people can look out at the lake or eat a nice lunch. There is a lot of parking and the park itself is well-maintained. I was able to find a map of the park trails online, and it was helpful but trail maps aren't perfect. I tried to walk as many of the trails as I could, but I was turned around a lot. We'd also had a lot of rain prior to my visit so a lower trail path by the lake was flooded. There is a small waterfall in the park, and I think I saw it but I'm not sure. There were a lot of rock formations in the creeks/streams, and none were labeled. I went to Henderson Park with a friend who needed to use the bathroom. The main bathrooms are located on the west end of the park by the soccer fields. On the east end of the park, there are port-a-potties. There are no bathrooms near the kids park which was a surprise and why I mention where the bathrooms are located. Overall, I'm glad that I gave Henderson Park a visit. The people who live nearby are lucky to have it.

Off leash walking on white trail (goes around lake) - not too crowded on weekday mornings.

In search of a new place to get my daily 10,000 steps, I came across Glenlake Park. What an…read moreincredible experience. This park is connected to a beautiful cemetery with such interesting history and views. It is so calming walking the paved paths amongst the burial sites and seeing the love and adoration of the families caring for their ancestors' resting places over the years. This park also has a tennis court, a public pool, a basketball court, a small baseball field, a general field, a pond, and a playground. It is clean and quiet, and those visiting the park are incredibly friendly. I tend to rate parks based on their visitors, and most of my "good evenings" were met with a very pleasant response unlike some of the more busy parks in ATL. There were families riding their bikes together, couples strolling amongst the graveyard, an older gentleman fishing in the pond, young men competing on the basketball court, people respectfully walking their dogs, a yoga session happening in the field and much more. This park is a catch-all for any age and experience. I'm sure I'm missing some of the amenities -- it has a lot to offer. Shout out to Decatur for maintaining this little gem. I highly recommend.

I've been here before for one of the Halloween events, but this day in particular I was here to actually enjoy the park in broad daylight and not at night. This is definitely the place to get a good workout in. You can walk around the mountain, which is a 5 mile walk or you can walk up the mountain which is 1 mile up. Honey, let me tell you that 1 mile up is not a joke, but you feel so good once you get to accomplish it and see all the other people attending to walk up the mountain. This is a experience for all age groups. The elderly were out there. The young was out there. The middle age was out there. Everyone was there having a good time, exercising and getting in a good stroll in the park. The Rangers are also out in the park for any assistance that you need as well. I thought I was gonna need them plenty of time when I attempted to go up the mountain, but I did just fine and I survived. I prefer to go around the mountain in the 5 mile walk where you see lots of people either on bikes, skates or walking their dog or pushing their kids in strollers it's a great experience and a good walk especially after the weather is decent. Now because I had such a good time, I have to look into getting a pass

When we arrived at 9:57 on Tuesday, we could only go to the Sky Lift. The park did not open until 10:30. Then we walked around the mountain once we arrived on top. It was not hot. There was a cool springy breeze. Then we walked down the mountain. The kids enjoyed it. However, we had to walk around to come back to the entrance, the kids still enjoyed it. Then we went to the 4-D Theater. They had a traveling dog show for the summer to celebrate America's 250 years birthday. The kids loved it. We even had four of my students chosen to volunteer on stage. Then we left to get lunch and we rode the train as our last activity for the day. Since we had to be back at the school at 2:00, we missed other attractions. However, the kids had fun!
