The staff was so welcoming and wonderful. I did not see any staff looking at a phone at all. I've been twice for close to 4 hours each time. The guards watched that pool like their lives depended on it. An adult male was struggling in the deep end at one point and the guards were both in the pool assisting him out before I even knew what was going on. Great job guys. Keep up the awesome work y'all are doing. I feel completely confident allowing my kids to swim here now. Fantastic experience from beginning to end. And it's very clean.

Today was my first visit. I had two mom friends there with a group of 4 total littles, 3 of them only 2ish. We mainly kept to ourselves in a corner by the splash pad. Social distancing, you know. So there was these damn cones. They separated chairs in another social distancing effort. Okay, I get it. But my 15 month old starts playing with the cone. I tell him no, he is redirected to the pool.. but he's a literal baby. At some point he picks up a cone and another two year old picks up a cone and they're moved around a bit, but as I'm redirecting kids the lifeguard comes down and wants to have an attitude about the kids and the cones. Well first off, I'm impressed you noticed anything since you've been staring at your phone the entire time and probably wouldn't catch anyone in distress in the water, but let's come have an attitude about a few babies and some cones. Yea, we get why they're there, but these kids are literal babies. If she wasn't enough, then a 2nd person working at the pool comes over yapping about the cones.. nobody else had touched a cone.. he wanted to explain the purpose of the cones.. WE FREAKING GET IT BUT OUR GROUP OF LITERAL BABIES DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE FIRST, SECOND, SOMETIMES THIRD TIME! You'd think the toddlers would be the ones having meltdowns, but nah, we've got a few full grown adults getting emotional over some kids acting like kids. Moving an orange cone a few feet. Hysteria. Such horrible little heathens we have. Anyway. The pool is nice. The guy who checked us in was friendly. The life guard played on her phone the whole time until she switched with one who halfway paid attention, so watch your kids.. and beware of any orange cones. Serious business, y'all.

Some of the equipment is rusty, and the field itself is falling apart in several areas, which makes it feel unsafe and not worth the rental price. On top of that, the owner, Jason, has been rude and snarky during visits. Every time our rental time is almost over, he shows up right by the field pretending to watch and clap along like he is enjoying the game, but it honestly feels more like he is trying to rush everyone off and be passive-aggressive about it. For a place that rents out fields, the quality of the pitch and the customer service should be much better. I would not recommend this place unless they seriously improve the field conditions and the way they treat customers.

I've worn several good basketball shoes and here and it just doesn't matter, you slip and slide everywhere. Their courts are outdated, the paint is chipping off the wall and the floors aren't even completely finished. The owner started raising his prices out of no where, he kicks us out at 8:30 now. Which is fine, it's his business but we would've appreciated a warning or heads up. We're paying more but we're getting less, I don't recommend this place at all. He charges so much to rent it out where you can get better spots and them out for cheaper. The owner can be very rude and gets heated easily, there's other spots where you get more bang for your buck. One time my friend went for his first time and he was trying to ask if his sibling could just watch because they physically couldn't play, when I tell you that he MADE them pay even tho they weren't gonna set a foot in the court?? Crazy In conclusion, don't come here, do your research and find a better spot to play sports cause this place ain't it.

This park is connected to a beautiful cemetery with such interesting history and views. It is so calming walking the paved paths amongst the burial sites and seeing the love and adoration of the families caring for their ancestors' resting places over the years. This park also has a tennis court, a public pool, a basketball court, a small baseball field, a general field, a pond, and a playground. It is clean and quiet, and those visiting the park are incredibly friendly. I tend to rate parks based on their visitors, and most of my "good evenings" were met with a very pleasant response unlike some of the more busy parks in ATL. There were families riding their bikes together, couples strolling amongst the graveyard, an older gentleman fishing in the pond, young men competing on the basketball court, people respectfully walking their dogs, a yoga session happening in the field and much more. This park is a catch-all for any age and experience. I'm sure I'm missing some of the amenities -- it has a lot to offer. Shout out to Decatur for maintaining this little gem. I highly recommend.

They just updated their patio. Overall this is a nice park. They do not have any tennis courts as they were taken out to increase parking spots, but they do have a nice multipurpose trail for those who like to bike. In total, the trail is about 10K if you do an entire loop on both sides. Overall, if you live nearby, this is a great park. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson. The mountain was also the site where the second Ku Klux Klan was founded in 1915. Knowing that history made it difficult for me to fully enjoy the experience. They've built a family-friendly attraction area around the park with shops, activities, and entertainment, but when we visited, it was DEAD. There were barely any people around, and the area felt almost deserted. I'm not sure if it was the day we visited, the cost of the attractions, or simply that people come more for the hiking and scenery, but the attraction area lacked energy. The mountain itself and the surrounding nature are beautiful, but personally, the history behind the site is something I can't overlook. I'm glad I experienced it once, but it's probably not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit again.

Most any warm season holiday is celebrated at Lake Lanier making it a popular place for vacation rental homes. Here you can go boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, golfing, as well as experience a fabulous fireworks show in the summer or Christmas lights and snow sleds in the winter. There is a spa, a beach, a waterpark, a luxury resort and good times @ Margaritaville. You can rent jet skis, go horseback riding, charter a fishing boat, rent a house boat, go camping or take a hot air balloon ride nearby. It was created by the completion of Buford Dam on the Chattahoochee River in 1956, and named for Confederate Army poet Sidney Lanier. Its primary purpose was for flood control and water supplies and has a water volume of about 1,049,400 acre-ft. The narrative will tell you its construction destroyed more than 50,000 acres of farmland and displaced more than 250 families, 15 businesses, and relocated 20 cemeteries along with their corpses in the process. But I want to pause here and dive a little deeper under the surface of its waters and introduce you to: [ OSCARVILLE, GEORGIA ] "The truth is rarely pure and never simple." ― Oscar Wilde Lake Lanier is partially located in Forsyth county. It is a county that prided itself on not having black residence so much that Oprah came to film an episode of her Emmy Award-winning talk show here in 1987 (trigger warning): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WErjPmFulQ0 The show makes mention that "no black person had lived in the county for 75 years", which was a direct reference to a predominantly African-American community known as Oscarville. "According to Elliot Jaspin, a historian and journalist quoted by the Digital Library of Georgia and the New Georgia Encyclopedia, only about 24 of the nearly 40 Black landowners in Forsyth County at the time were able to sell their land. The other properties have no record of sale, and some believe the abandoned land was simply taken by White residents." - The Times Oscarville began as a small farming town around 1870, but after so many fled the county in 1912, it was practically a ghost town. Those still claiming ownership of their land either had it seized or were "asked" to to forfeit their land to build the Buford Dam by Newport Dam Development according to an article published on April 6, 2021 by The Signal. Prior to the violence, Oscarville was actually known for its agricultural prowess in fighting off the boll weevil infestation that hindered many farm crops and enriching the soil with chicken feces. Bowmans Island at the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is a nice little escape if…read moreyou're looking for a quiet hike with plenty of water views. Parking is easy to find, with enough space for at least 75 cars, including spots near what looks like a boat ramp. It costs $8 for the whole day, which isn't bad if you plan to stay a while. Fishing seems to be the main attraction here. There were plenty of folks (kids and adults alike) either in boats or lined up along the shore, casting their fishing lines off the bank. The trails are mostly easy to moderate, but there are a few steep, narrow spots where you'll need to watch your footing. I walked about 3.5 miles with a hiking group, following a loop that winds through the trees and offers a mix of open views and shaded paths. There are some benches along the way if you need a break. Bathrooms are available, which is always a plus, and there's a lot of green space. But honestly, I wouldn't recommend spreading out a blanket for a picnic as the ground is littered with dog poop, despite the big "no dogs" sign at the entrance. It's about an hour's drive from Atlanta, with the last few miles on Buford Dam Highway being steep and winding. The park wasn't overly crowded when I went, but there were a good number of people fishing or tubing. If you're looking for a peaceful walk by the water and don't mind stepping around a few messes, it's worth checking out.
