There is a solid group of consistent female students here, some who have been training under Professor Rob and Coach Vianca since their childhood/teen years, that continue to come here and train as adults at their own will. That alone showed me that this was a tight-knit, safe training environment, and was probably my #1 motivation for deciding to commit my weeknights here. Compared to other academies I have visited, Professor Rob spends a lot more time going into detail when explaining drills, and gives individualized attention to his students. He keeps a close eye on us when we spar, and then tailors the class based on what we need to improve on. You will not get lost in the crowd here, unlike some bigger academies. During class, he accommodates to every skill level and age group, beginner to advanced. If you are an avid competitor in the sport or just an occasional hobbyist, he will help you regardless. He is an excellent, and honest instructor who cares about you improving, and when need be, is tough and pushes you to be better. See you in class soon.

Initially I signed them up for 3 days a week but they love it so much that they asked to go 5 days a week. Not only physically they have improved significantly but academically too. Sensei Saro is top notch judo professional who treats everyone with respect, instills a sense of confidence, guiding my kids to challenge themselves, and to overcome their fears also to believe that nothing is impossible if you are dedicated, to pursue your dreams of being a good judo player and further more... a champion. Before starting judo one of my teenage son was at the lowest he can be mentally, behavioral wise and low school performance. It's in a great location, I usually do some grocery shopping or just work in the Dunkin donuts right next door. He'll come out and find me there, we share a donut, then head home. The instructions are amazing, so patient, professional, and adaptive. There are a LOT of kids in there some days and I don't know how they don't just pull their hair out and yell all day lol. But at home, all I need to do is tell my son I'm reporting his behavior to Instructor Jane or Grandmaster Suh, and he straightens out. It's like having the threat of Santa there all year round lol. But in all seriousness, they do learn discipline, respect, and patience. Any place that stressed those factors more, are winners to me. And yes it is pricey, but all these kid activities are. I'm happy to be happy spending my money on a place that I feel deserve all of it and more for what they do for the community. Oh! And they have Fun night where they watch & feed your kids (siblings allowed) for a small fee (waaay cheaper than a sitter and at least you know them) for a few hrs so you can have date night! My favorite. We've taken advantage of it any time we could.
