It has a couple kids play areas, depending upon their ages and/or skill level. Plenty of parking to be had, at least on weekdays. Two negative aspects to this park that I observed. They do not have coverings over the playground equipment or the picnic benches, if you plan to utilize them. The other negative aspect is they do not have any restrooms at this location! As big as this park is that should have been a requirement by the development who constructed the adjacent housing tracts (at least that is how many of these parks are built and then deeded to the cities). If the city actually built this park, on the taxpayer dime, then shame on them.

This is one of my go-to spots when I want something simple but still feels like real nature. The…read moretrails are fun, not too hard, and good for families, but still enough hills to keep it interesting. Not ideal for strollers unless you've got something built for rough terrain. The oak trees are a huge plus. There's actual shade here, not just a few patches, which makes a big difference in this area. If you hike out far enough you'll find old abandoned houses and structures, which is honestly one of the coolest parts. It gives the whole place a bit of history and something extra to explore. Also great for horseback riding and a solid spot to bring food and picnic without dealing with crowds. Simple, quiet, and worth going back to.

Don't know what I was thinking, woke up and dragged my husband and my daughter on the hottest days to decide to hike lol!!! Be sure to wear a hat and bring water , this particular trail is my least favorite. I don't recommend to bring your fur baby , if you do. Please be careful this area has lots of over grown horse tail grass, it is so harmful to your fur babies. I would recommend to come during winter and cooler temperatures.

You will drive down a paved road and the rest will be a pebble, dirt road! Man, does my car need a car wash after today! I made a right at W Contour Rd. At this parking lot, they have 1 restroom in a building and a picnic table. I had to use the restroom as I was drinking Starbucks on the way over!! The restroom was clean with paper!!! I continued driving on the "auto tour" and I followed the signs. I saw a beautiful lake with no water. (I thought this was a beautiful view). I kept driving until I saw Pond 1 and I parked in the huge gray pebbled parking lot. I walked along the upper path between both ponds on both sides of me. I took many pictures & videos. I walked until I saw Marsh U and that is where I saw a skunk !!! I have never encountered one during the day. The skunk saw me and ran in the other direction. I wish I brought bug repellent. I was covered in bugs I knew something bit me on my arm. The place felt very eerie walking through there with no one around. I suppose the best times to visit are spring & winter! Enjoy my photos :)

Keep in mind this isn't a well groomed and cliche/touristy picnic spot for you city slickers. I love how they have kept the area natural but still accessible. Wednesdays and Saturdays are closed to the general public for the waterfowl/duck hunters. This area is run and managed by the California Fish and Wildlife. If you're interested in wildlife (raptors and other birds in particular), this place is great. It's also quite scenic at sunrise and sunset as well.

It is well maintained, park and restrooms are clean. There is a lot of parking available in the lot and on the surrounding streets. MSP is fully wheelchair accessible with a paved walkway on the west side of the park. There are 4 baseball fields and a good snack bar. My favorite thing is the sign on all the fields reminding guests that this is just a game. Thank you!

The San Bernardino National Forest is huge!!!…read more This National Forest stretches from San Bernardino Couty to Los Angeles County. I've had the privilege to experience the San Bernadino County side of the San Bernardino National Forest when I lived in Big Bear. It was beautiful and fun for hiking adventures. This time, I was on the Los Angeles County side of The San Bernardino National Forest. I was on the side that feels really desert-like. It's dirt and very dry weather, and then suddenly when you hit the National Forest, it is green and gorgeous. Boy, it is really something when you go from the desert to green trees and pretty views!!! The temperature cooled down too. I love the forestry landscape and lush trees everywhere. I'm thankful that we have National Forests like this that are protected! We must protect them at all costs!

Camping reservation is available and brown bins to hide food from animals and bears available. One bathroom available and it's cleaned by rangers. Trash is also picked up if you need help cleaning. Beauty of a sky at night. They gave a fire pit area and three large benches to eat and sit. Cons: The drive as soon as you get to the off road areas you lose reception. We got lost so I recommend having a back up plan with maps that help off roading areas. Also we took our Tundra for the first time off road and regretted it immediately. BEWARE: The bushes and trees are not cut down to clear the roads and our truck was completely scratched from both sides. Only bring cars you don't care about and plan to use them through bushes and trees that scratch the paint. We learned the hard way. Also the drive up and down the mountain is very dangerous. If you come early the fog makes it hard to see. We got rain in the afternoon and it's very slippery cars also drive crazy and pressure you to go over the required speed. We had to wait 45 min coming down the mountain Sunday when we left due to a car accident. Again locals drive crazy and ride your car or pass you up. Be really cautious! All in all great camping trip but the truck issue was horrible. We now have to pay to try and wax the truck or have to fully re-paint.
