My partners alternator needed to be changed and nobody was available for the next 2 weeks and we're not from upstate we had to get back to Brooklyn by the nighttime and Tom was the only one who helped us even after his shop hours! He wanted to do everything he can to get us back to Brooklyn, after he switched the alternator for us, he also filled up our fluids just because he knew the long drive we were about to make he didn't want us getting stuck! He was the kindest man and probably has the best prices in this town, you wouldn't regret bringing your car to him. Other than fixing our problem he was a great person in general we got to know each other the few hours we were there and he is one amazing guy with such a sweet soul. I hope he gets all the business and support he deserves, also he has the cutest dogs so if you're a dog person you're in for a real treat lol

Not a good place for mower repairs and not good business practices overall…read more Visited with my machine and let them know what I needed. (Mower blade replacement and check battery - trouble starting) Was quoted a price/estimate and the rough ballpark of time it would take based on what I wanted to be serviced on my rider mower. Several additional things were offered or heavily encouraged during the "intake". I explained that I thought that I didn't need much, tractor was relatively new and ran fine and little to no hours of use on it. Gentlemen that did intake said something like - well we check everything or recommend oil change and such if we are going to put time or labor into it anyway. I asked for approx price of each service. He said they would call me with a specifics and a quote and exact details/prices and wouldn't do anything without my explicit consent. He did say it was busy season, that everyone was getting lawn equipment, machines, and snow removal equipment tuned up and ready or fixed and that it would take a week or 2 before mine would be looked at - because a few machines were ahead of me - absolutely fine. I explained that time frame worked fine - that I didn't need it right back that week or even 2, that I would actually be away for a week - so the timeline fit perfect for me. He also explained typical prices of each of the things he recommended and kind of blew it off saying under 100 or so or if not - not much more. Yea, none of it was true or close to accurate at all. A few weeks went by and I hadn't heard so I followed up and called. They said they would check on it and get back to me. later they called and said it hadn't been looked at yet!? I said how can that be - and he said well there is a note that said you would be away so we didn't start on it or even look at it. That's a huge fail. They also basically admitted (and I watched it happen with my own eyes) that they let regulars skip the line and backlog. So fine, I had to wait, not a deal breaker. They called back a week or 2 later with a quote of 600 dollars. I was blown away and confused? for blade replacements or sharpening? This can't be. Well they said when we looked at some of the stuff, they recommended (or already did the work without my authorization - like promised) that some of the pulleys and pieces were worn and they felt needed replacement. I specifically said I didn't want any extras or new battery or anything until I was given the prices. I went back to get my machine and asked to speak to manager about price. He took off an hour of labor and reduced price of some of the parts to help me. Now, the price of parts was double or triple what I can get them for at Lowe's or online, so I understand markup but that's just shady and inexcusable. Even with the doscount it was more than double or triple what I was planning and agreed to spend. Guy said it would be 100 or under 2 tops. They wanted me to pay $500 or 450 plus tax for me to get my mower back! It gets even worse: The mower was sitting outside in the snow and soaked and covered in ice and snow and it wouldn't start. I've never once in my life had this machine not in a garage or shed but apparently it had sat outside in the rain and snow and ice for the 6 weeks they had it. One of the reasons I brought it in was the battery/mower wouldn't start. They said that was solved - but then it wouldn't start when I came to pick it up and get it up on my trailer to leave. They called technician that apparent "did the work" to come assist or take care of it and he couldn't get it going so they had more guys come out and help. They were training him in front of me. Not a good look. I left, with my machine in worse condition then it arrived in, costed me $500, took many more weeks then promised, was subjected to rain, snow and ice with no covering, tarp or care and when I mowed a sample patch of lawn- the blades were so uneven, it left lines in my yard - not minor, like the deck and blades weren't leveled at all. Poor service. Cannot recommend. I would rather drive an hour away then support the local guy in town - and that's a shame - I had several other machines with needs - snowblower; other mower, etc, and they lost my business forever - and I will spread the word. They were polite and courteous the whole time and didn't make me feel bad for being an idiot. Today, a snow storm dropped almost 2 feet of snow. I had trouble with my snowblower so I called them to pick it up since I couldn't bring it in. When he came to pick it up, he took a quick look at it and discovered the problem. A broken shear pin. He fixed it right away and didn't even have to take the machine back to his shop. Very helpful since this storm is likely to drop another 6-12 inches before it's done. I highly recommend Max S. He was great to deal with - communicative, fair and flexible. The MT100 was delivered earlier than expected and he offered me the ability to extend the rental if necessary. They were also able to deliver 6+ yards of gravel for me to lay the base layer - a really easy way to get the project done with a couple of calls. Would highly recommend and will be reaching out the next time I have a need for rental equipment.

We've relied on these folks for years especially when we've stayed at a local B&B with access to their grill then come here for a bag of charcoal briquettes. We'll still get those- but now as things have changed for us, we're getting kitchen items, cast-iron skillets, etc to use on weekends when we're in town. The right side of Houst is dedicated to kitchen items such as cutlery, cleaning supplies, pots+pans, serving spoons, welcome mats+other outdoor items. The left side has painting supplies, plumbing products and other DIY projects that need seeing quickly. For bigger home improvements, ask. Price? It's Woodstock. I'm not driving out of my way to save a a few dollars. But, these folks have a rewards system which you can accumulate and use for future purchases. As far as service, it's unbeatable.

In that, I mean that there was very little "chat" or personal interaction on the salespersons part and we were left alone for far longer than we wanted. Everytime we had a question we had to go looking for someone who might have an answer or maybe even (If we were lucky) find where our salesperson kept disappearing too when we were literally the only customers in the store. To be clear, It was OK and just OK. In our experience...when trying to support local businesses, we generally find a much higher level of customer involvement by the business. This was most definitely not the case here. The feeling that we got was one of......buy or don't buy....makes no difference to us. For absolutely sure we have received much friendlier and helpful service at the big box stores (Lowe's, Home Depot, Sams Club and Costco) and frankly expected a much better experience than we received from this store which on that day....at that time.....at least appeared to not care one way or the other about us or whether we purchased from them or not. We were in desperate need of the appliances and they were in stock and ready for delivery.....so, minus all the love.....we bought the appliances and gave serious consideration as to whether we would ever go there again. Probably not. Not Mad.......Just Disappointed.
