This was my first all inclusive and I wasn't sure what to expect. It was a little under $1000 per person (four people) over NYE so I thought that was a fairly good price. The Hideaway is the adults only and while there isn't any sort of gate separating it from the rest of the all inclusive, it was far away enough from the main area that we didn't see any kids. We used a third party for transport to and from the airport. We got greeted by a porter who took our stuff and were taken to a room to check in. There was a small bar inside and snacks so that you could eat and drink while checking in. During the process they give you a room key that's attached to your wrist so you don't lose it. Don't cut it off because you need to give it back at the end of your stay or you'll be charged. There are several restaurants as well as a buffet on site. We didn't realize until our porter (Diego who was a delight) told us that you had to make reservations at the restaurants if you wanted to get in. He recommended the steakhouse, the sushi spot, and the Mexican spot. You can make reservations online on their app. We managed to snag reservations for the steakhouse and the Indian restaurants but nowhere else. You can also get unlimited room service and request it via the app but it can be confusing when they will actually come with your food. We liked how we were on the first floor of the Hideaway portion and were steps away from the pool as well as the beach. There's plenty of bars everywhere and we tipped fairly well so we got excellent service no matter where we went. They have events on the schedule every day on their app as well as performers. They also have a tiny little nightclub located in the main area on the second floor. Overall, while there were some hiccups, as long as you know what to expect, I think this all inclusive is a good cost efficient option if you want to get away and relax for a couple of days.

Left over mess from past guests

This stay was extremely disappointing for what is marketed and priced as a luxury adults-only resort. Check-in felt awkward and uncomfortable. What appeared to be part of the standard process came across as subtle pressure to tip, which did not feel transparent or welcoming. Our room was not in acceptable condition, with visible stains, cracked flooring, and a jacuzzi tub awkwardly placed in the middle of the room. There was also a significant cleanliness concern involving the curtains, which should never occur at a property of this level. Additional debris from prior guests was later found under the bathtub and was not addressed during our stay. The buffet was poor (3/10). If you did not arrive immediately at opening, food sat out long enough to attract bugs, which we observed. Dining overall was consistently disappointing. The Indian restaurant food tasted pre-prepared and lacked freshness, and we observed insects in the restroom. Breakfast service was disorganized, with parties seated out of order and little communication. Dinner at the French restaurant was not enjoyable and required us to eat elsewhere. At the Caribbean restaurant, the tuna tartare was acceptable, but the skirt steak was served grey in appearance with excessively long waits between courses. COFEPRIS Has been notified Mosquitoes were a major issue. We spent over 30 minutes in our room killing more than 20 mosquitoes, making it difficult to relax or sleep. Management advised fumigation would occur, and while there was some improvement afterward, mosquitoes continued to be present in our room while neighboring rooms reported no issues. Despite a stated no pool-chair reserving policy, guests placed personal items on chairs as early as 6:00 a.m. By mid-morning, most chairs were empty but claimed. This policy was initially not enforced, though staff later intervened, which was appreciated. The adults-only pool atmosphere was loud and high-energy, resembling a cruise-style party rather than the relaxed environment advertised. Do not splurge on the swim-out rooms. The pools were cold, poorly maintained, and contained visible debris, including dead insects. Additional issues included a persistent sewage-like odor near the martini bar most evenings, heavily worn glassware that appeared foggy and scratched, and multiple instances where the do-not-disturb sign was ignored within a short time frame. Management offered chocolate-covered strawberries and a bottle of wine to address concerns. The strawberries were delivered twice, with the second delivery declined, and the wine was never delivered, reflecting the inconsistency experienced throughout the stay. One consistent positive was the pool staff, especially Hugo, who was professional, attentive, and genuinely tried to improve the guest experience. Overall, this stay did not meet expectations for cleanliness, organization, or atmosphere and did not reflect a luxury adults-only experience. Unfortunately, this trip was a complete letdown and not worth the cost. Was promised a "special" breakfast upon departure, we showed up at the arranged time. No one was there. Again. Broken promises. I CAN NOT WAIT TO GO HOME

3rd resort we've been to in Riviera Maya, and by far our favorite. They did just open when we went, but the staff was incredible, the food was the best we've had at a resort in Mexico. Beds were comfortable, and resort was clean. Highly recommend upgrading to diamond club, it is worth the money. Unlike the other resorts we've been to, the beaches are very nice and you can actually walk out into the ocean. We are looking to go back again.

    Bathroom of "Luxury Junior suite".

Came home with bed bugs. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! The employees, specifically check in and welcome desk, are trained to take as much as they can come you for very little in return. They are dismissive of your concerns and dishonest often talking amongst each other in Spanish, while ur sitting there then they speak English fluently. The prime membership is a rip off, very disappointed. Never visiting Cancun again due to this experience.

The grounds are beautiful--breathtaking, in fact. Royalton's attention to detail is spot on. We stayed in the "Presidential/Honeymoon" suite and this 2 bathroom, living room, dining area, king size bed with an UPSTAIRS deck (complete with a jacuzzi and deck seating) was jaw dropping. This Diamond Club room also came with a complimentary two person HYDROTHERAPY massages. The money for this place is put in the spa treatments! I could not take pics but that is an experience you do not want to miss. The 11 pools offered fun for everyone. The guy (he is such a cutie and I hate I can't remember his name) who teaches aqua fit classes and hosts activities in the pool was a hoot! He was also the Karaoke host--and that was absolutely epic. The drinks are always flowing here and when you come--ask for the MANGO TANGO! Wow. But there are areas of concern. These little tiny ants that are EVERYWHERE in the bar of our room were over the top. You would have thought the counters were wiped down in syrup there are so many. And the AC...or should I say the LACK THEREOF made the walk to and fro unbearable. No AC in the buffet area; none in the elevators; none in the hallways; none in the countless restaurants--just no cool reprieve from the sweltering heat. The rooms have air conditioning, but once you step out the door, prepare for heat stroke. I also didn't like that all of the staff, though impeccably dressed, were wearing long sleeve shirts, vest, long pants in 100 degree heat. Perhaps Royalton can choose a better uniform conducive to Mexico's weather. Aside from these concerns, it is a great place! Would I return? Absolutely! This is my second time coming here! I had to come back and update because the Montazuma's Revenge my party of 8 suffered from this trip was epic! I don't want to get graphic or use poop emojis, but hear me and hear me good--take Pepto 4-5 days before you go and take the pills with you. Pop them EVERY SINGLE DAY. Of the 8 of us that went on this vacation, six of us have the worst case of Montazuma's Revenge (and two of us came back with Covid). I am just keeping it real, Yelpers!

Cancun Royalton Riviera was The destination for my Bestie and I to have our Double Nickels Celebration!!!! When I tell you we Made some great Memories here!!!! The pool was our Hangout, we exercised, drank, played pool volleyball, drank, met new friends, drank, danced, drank, got some beautiful tans, drank Oh yess did I mention we brought our Yeti's so our Drinks would stay cold!!! Oh yes we were professional about it!!! Our Rooms were cool and kept clean, our meals were good. DON'T DRINK the water or the Ice!!!! Drink Bottled water!!!! That's the one bit of Sage advice I'll advise on. Participate in the poolside activities, they're so much fun, I won a bottle of Tequila!!!!! It made the silent party ... not so silent . The Coffee cafe is a must visit spot, i didn't buy souvenirs because I didn't want to get hung up at customs, I just ordered on Amazon and by the time I got home my "Souvenirs" were waiting for me and I bestowed them to my peeps!!! Shhhh that's between us, they'll never know it's straight from Amazon!!!! All in all, this Vacation spot was pretty Good for a group experience, it's just hot as H.E. Double hockey sticks!!!!

    Bed bug bites

Watch out for Bed Bugs. My daughter was bitten all over both legs and they said it was mosquitoes. Impossible! The food is just Ok. The rooms (other than bed bugs) are ok. Entertainment sucks. Casino is a joke. $36 for the small tube of antihistamine cream to treat bed bug bites. Restaurant reservations are impossible. App and wifi constantly crashing so getting a reservation is a pain. Beach is ok, except it is small and they do not clear away the sargassum so to walk on the beach you have to get over the massive amount of sargassum piled up. Pushy sales people of diamond club membership. Overall not much to recommend.

Manuel and the staff at the reception bar was VERY attentive and offered THE BEST cocktails! Engaging, fun and personable. Espresso martini was delish. French 75 (Manuel's special recipe) was fantastic. Highly recommend for a great time!

The hotel itself is amazing the staff are amazing the overload of amenities onsite are amazing now the mosquitoes ate us and everyone so bad it was a shame and to have the staff bring a can of raid and take it back and not being able to provide proper bug control was crazy. They bit up our neighbor so bad they said they called the resort medic to give her cream she was bit up in her face and shoulder. I reached out to the big offices not expecting much but all the staff would say was it was mosquito season nevertheless we paid $1700 to be at a swim out for our 11yr anniversary and couldn't enjoy the pool because we were being bit.

An all-inclusive resort located on the beach in Cancun, Mexico. Recently visited in pandemic era with friends and was pleasantly surprised at the experience. The resort was clean, staff was friendly and mostly attentive. COVID related info: All staff wear masks at all times. Resort guests are not required to wear masks and most did not. Some of the restaurants will check your temperature prior to being seated but not all. The resort was not filled to capacity which made it great for enjoying everything without too many people. My recs for dining based on where we went: *Gourmet Marché- buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner. Recommend for breakfast! Great options! *Grazie- Italian. Located by the kids/family pool. Good option for lunch. Attentive service. *Hunter Steakhouse- recommend for dinner. Somewhat slow service however excellent food and experience. *Taj- Indian. Highly recommend for dinner. Food was excellent and service out of this world! *Zen- Japanese/Sushi. Disappointing in regards to food and service alike. Skip this unless maybe hibachi reservations. *Dorado- seafood. Sterile environment for dinner, better for lunch I'd assume. Slow service, forgotten items ordered. I'd also skip this even though it did come recommended. *Caribbean Grill- located by the beach. Cute atmosphere. Attentive service. Good food. *Scoops- Ice cream & Coffee. Closes around 1800. Great coffee drinks. Pastries. Ice cream was not flavorful but I liked the agua frescas a lot! The alcohol was watered down or something... usually I can't even handle the smell of tequila and yet I took a few shots with friends no problem, not even a grimace. I'd stick with wine and beer, unless you opted for the Diamond status. Overall a fun place to spend a few days... more than that would get old. *please note I'm usually not an all-inclusive type of vacationer but after the year we've all had this was a nice holiday with friends!

The adults only pool on the Hideaway side!

When your best-friend suggests a girls-cation in Cancun - you say yes and you book it. Even better when that trip includes staying in the adults only part of the resort. Which is exactly what we got with Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancun. Star 1: The accommodations were fabulous! Our suite featured a rooftop hot tub and in suite jacuzzi! We also had a balcony and view of the surrounding jungle and beach. Perfect place to take our morning coffee. One of the other upgrade options includes a private swim-out suite. Such a neat idea! The hotel is located a bit away from the bustle of Cancun its self; which I think we all actually enjoyed! Star 2: The entertainment was amazing! Each night by the main pool they had something going on. We would sip martinis and watch the entertainment of the evening. Loved the cover band the best! Star 3: The restaurants were top notch! We really enjoyed the variety offered by Gourmet Marché (the International Market), the breakfast buffet at Agave (Mexican Cuisine), and dinner Armadillo (Tex-Mex Cuisine). Mmm... For the most part everything was great! Star 4: The price was on point! All-inclusive, with flight, and upgraded accommodations for 5 days ran us roughly $1000! Not bad at all, in my opinion. The biggest drawback was unfortunately a big one. The beach. While it had the possibility of being completely gorgeous - the amount of seaweed was astounding. My fellow vacation goers opted to spend way more time at the pool versus the beach as a result. I'd definitely come back to Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancun for another vacation (or girls-cation) in the future. **Noteworthy: Your room key is actually worn on you wrist! Seriously the best! I wish more all-inclusive did this because I hate remembering to carry a key with me during my stay.

We started with the luxury jr suite. We are titanium elite with Bonvoy. They upgraded us to a swim out suite. This includes Diamond Status. Which you want here. It comes with a butler. He can make reservations for you. He will bring your favorite alcohol to the room. You already have a mini fridge that is complimentarily stocked. If you don't have Diamond status you are checked in through a cattle line and it takes about 40 minutes. If you have Diamond status you go to an a/c room with 3 desks. It's loud. But the greet you with refreshments and it's quick. So far the food has been ok. Not great. You aren't allowed to eat at Hunter on the first night. Which is probably where you'll want to eat. The breakfast buffet is plentiful. The buffet has lots of reviews that weren't as good for later in the day. So we are elsewhere. Go ahead and schedule your Covid test on arrival. Not really important at least the day we went. There was a line outside and they didn't even ask about reservations. Bring your credit card, mask, and passport. They do not offer complimentary masks. It is located near the Careibean Cafe. The furthest end from the Diamond Hideaway side. It's such a scam. $35 for rapid antigen. They swab your nose. She doesn't even label it as she goes. She got mine and my husbands twisted. Didn't even look at the numbers in correlation to us. Because everyone gets a negative. You pay $35 and have a good day. Jump a few hoops for show. The Diamond lounge offers drinks and snacks throughout the day. They close at 10.

Checkin was a breeze and we were shown an area to get something to eat and drink right away. Then shown to our rooms. Two large room with 2 queen beds. They were very comfy to sleep in, along with nice pillows and bed covers. Lots of drawer and hanging cloths storage. The bath room had a double sink. Bottled water, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner & body lotion were provided. There was the most powerful hair dryer I had ever used! To the right was a large area with a big frosted door that opened to a huge soaking tub and an over head shower. The bath tub had lots of hot water but the shower only got luke warm. To the left was another frosted door that opened to the toilet.  Each room had a balcony. Large TV. Fridge stocked with a variety of drinks that were refilled every day. There were also a variety of snacks. Each day Enrique or Ivan would check in on us to see if there was anything they could do for us. Before ending their shift, they would again ask. They were great and we loved their service. We ordered room service for one day, as none of us had ever done that before. We put our order in with Enrique and in the morning it was delivered at the time we requested. We made all our dinner reservations thru Enrique or Ivan also. There was one main dining area, The Gourmet Marche' with more food and variety than we could of imagined. From main dishes to salads, breads, desserts, drinks....you wouldn't go hungry! Our little ones especially enjoyed the chocolate fountain where they dipped marshmallows. A variety of resturants, from sushi (the best I have had anywhere!) to steaks. All of the food was amazing. There was an outdoor place called Nibbles where you could again get a nice variety of food for lunch. Two areas where you could get burgers and fries. I think also chicken strips. A place for ice cream and gelato, also desserts. A coffee cafe where you could order speciality drinks. There was also a coffee bar for regular coffee where you could help yourself. And another that had a machine with lattes and other coffees - again helping yourself. Also desserts, bagels etc.  Almost forgot to mention the pizza - it was delicious! They made their dough right there and toppings were added, then baked in a wood fired dome. Lots of birds around but never saw one fly! Outdoors, the pools went on forever. Lots of places to sit or lay out with umbrellas. You could go up to the bars and order a huge variety of drinks or one of the many waiters or waitresses would take your drink orders. Tipping was not required but we did tip them. There was a swim up bar with stools where you sat in the water.  Lots of activities all day long - water volley ball, water exercise. One day there was a foam machine and everyone loved that! Long white balloons were given out and adults and kids were having fun with those. Another day there was a water balloon fight, where groups on either side of the volley ball net. Water balloons were flying as fast as anyone could grab one! After that we all got a pineapple with the top cut off and filled with a watermelon drink. Lemons, limes and other fruit made up faces on each one. There were two lazy rivers. One with large tubes for floating and the 2nd you just floated in. The current in the 2nd one really moved you along. There were plenty of water slides for adults or kids. The littles had 4 slides. They would end up in the water with lots of smiles and giggles. The adult one also had several. You had to carry your 2 or 4 person raft to the top and down you came.  Tho we were right on the beach not many ventured out there. They were having an issue as many other beach areas with the seaweed. Just long rows of it all along the beach and it stinks. Even tho it was always quite breezy we never smelled it up at the pool areas. Every night there was entertainment on the outdoor stage with lots of chairs and room to dance.  We left on the 15th and check out was once again a breeze. We had been given bracelets the 1st day we arrived. They were little oval discs that we worn the entire time. You used them to gain entry to your room. Know this is a long review but there was just so much and all of it was amazing. The staff were friendly, helpful, always saying hello as you passed by. There were little kisoks where you could get info on other services but no one hasseled you. Oh and several nice stores to shop in. Would advise taking water floats if you have little ones, as they ran $15.00 and up. And childrens tylenol.....$48.00 for a 4 oz bottle.  I would highly recommend the Royalton Spash and look forward to visiting some of their other resorts. We came from Oregon USA. Customs going into Mexico and back into the US was a breeze.

So my review of the Hideaway pretty much covers the same ground. If you're an adult booked at Hideaway, you have access to the full complex, that side and the family side. Kids, of course, can't go over to Hideaway--which is nice; you can go back and forth between families and semi-loud music and a more quieter atmosphere, in just a short walk. Check out Agave and Taj restaurants; some of my favorite food that I've had at an all-inclusive, to date. I think you'll find the staff is very accommodating and friendly as well. Truthfully I can't say enough good things about Royalton Riviera Cancun; since completing renovations this past December, they've moved up to the top of my list of A-I's to recommend.

In fact, some of the "exclusive" places have some very arrogant and superior people, and that detracts from the experience. But I don't need to tell you how annoying people can be, do I? Not that people can't be very nice also, but the more people around, the more chance someone will detract from your experience. But when you don't even come across other people (except the ones you bring with), there's no-one to possibly bother you. You go to the beautiful pool, and there's no-one there. Not even anyone doing the "reserve our lounge chairs with towels at the crack of dawn game", when they don't use them till noon. None of that stupid stuff, and no screaming kids doing cannonballs in the pool (not that I don't like kids). The beautiful pool might as well be in your own back yard. You don't hear the adjacent room through the thick walls, and you don't even see other room balconies. The grounds are designed so every balcony is private. No-ones front door is next to yours, or even nearby. You look out over the grounds and virtually no-one is walking around. You go to the pier and it's empty of people. You go to the beach and no-one is there also. You pick your favorite lounge chair location and it's open just waiting for you. The staff here were all nice and subdued and not intrusive, but were friendly if you chatted a bit to them. When they bring your breakfast trays in the morning to your room, they place it in a hutch by the front door and you don't even see them! Look at the pictures I posted. The professional ones are from the CDM website and mine are the others. You'll notice there's no-one in the pictures. Other resorts have to rope off the area to get deserted pictures like those, and when you get there it is overrun by strangers. Not at CDM. When you think of that, you should try to stay here if you ever can, even for a few days. It's actually great value for the money. What an awesome experience. They do destination weddings here, and that probably feels like you rented the whole resort, cause I'm sure the other guests would stay out of your way. I can't think of another place like CDM.

Food was surprisingly better than I expected. I stay at the Sunrise, which is the middle (Nizu more budget and Grand is the high end). It was perfect, there were plenty of activities for the little ones and nice shows for the adults. The restaurants consist of several all you can eat and several sit down restaurants. The nicer sit down restaurants, you'll want to reserve in advance and bring some nice cloths. I spent several mornings going to their gym, the coach is super friendly. I took some of their fitness class - kickboxing and physical fitness. The coach does their best to cater towards your physical fitness. I was lucky one morning to be the only person there, so I got a one on one experience, love it! I would definitely go back in the future. Short drive from the airport as well. You should download their app since it gives you all of their information and restaurants, reservations times, etc. Just watch out when you check in and check out, there's some sales folks who will try to hustle you. Just say no thank you. Spend time at the place first, and unless you know you're coming back for sure, just say no thank you.

I'm usually more inclined towards an adventurous vacation but there is a time and place for everything. Moon Palace certainly has everything! This resort is only about 10 minutes from the Cancun airport (CUN) and is actually compromised of three properties in one - Nizuc, Sunrise, and The Grand, each with increasing level of "fanciness." You can travel between all three on foot or by golf cart and take advantage of the amenities at each, except The Grand which is wristband access only. Each property has all of the things - swim up bars, restaurants, beach access, lobby bars, night bars and clubs, grab and go food, and more. My friends and I upgraded our standard room to an ocean view room right near the golf cart stop and it was worth it. Getting around the property does take a little coordination and it was nice to have the golf cart stop nearby. The room itself was spacious with a well stocked fridge and hard liquor dispensers but does have a large bath tub in the center of the room which took up a lot of space. I'm not sure who is using these. We got room service almost daily for breakfast and a late night snack and it came quickly and was fairly good quality. The staff were all excellent so definitely do not forget to tip! They of course are gracious for anything that you are willing to offer - pesos and US dollars included. Please, please tip as they all work really hard to make sure that you have everything that you need. I will say that the check in process was a little confusing. When you walk into the lobby at Nizuc, there are several large desks immediately to the left that look like the check in but these are actually the check OUT. Check in desk is actually down a couple of hallways and not well marked. I had to get a bellboy escort me. We also had some issues with our wristbands. Since my party arrived at different times, some of our wristbands got deactivated when the rest of the party arrived. Luckily we were able to help one another out getting into the room and finally got it resolved at the desk. My only real reservation about this resort was the number of young teenagers. Admittedly, we visited during spring break but teenagers they were everywhere! Drinking age is 18 in Mexico but many of them looked like they could be 14 years old drinking at the bars and going to the clubs. Many of them were quite rude too yelling at the poor waitstaff for more drinks, not tipping and not saying thank you.

If you're going to stay here, make sure you let them know when you're going to arrive as there doesn't seem to be a front desk. I called when we got there and we waited for about 10 minutes until Genevieve got there. Not a problem though because I do understand it's not really a traditional hotel. The grounds themselves are beautiful. There's lots of green space, and there's also a little pond with two turtles in it. Hopefully someone is feeding the turtles because when we were there we gave them like 2 whole avocados over the span of 3 or 4 days - them seemed famished. The pool is OUTSTANDING. It's not a traditional pool, there's not really much space to sunbathe, but it felt SO good after a long, hot day at the beach or walking around town. Plus it overlooks the ocean. Our favorite part of the place was the rooftop. Stunning views. Unfortunately the room we stayed in had window that overlooked a tree and a wall. There was a little window at the top of that wall, and no curtains on it, which made for a daily wake up time of whenever the sun came up. BUT, their neighbors started building a wall right outside that window. The stairs they were using to get to their roof were right outside that window, and any of the workers could've looked in our room, and directly down into the bathroom/toilet. I let management know and they came not more than two hours later to measure the window and make a mesh curtain for it. I was VERY pleased with how quickly they reacted to my email. It's unfortunate (and not Layla's fault) that there was a wall built, but I suppose that solved the sunrise wake up every morning. Other than that the room (selva) was nice. It had a little cooktop, sink, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. The refrigerator froze almost everything we put in there, and we were unable to mess with the temperature. They had dish soap, hand soap, and I think body wash as well. Beach towels were provided though they're old and stained. The pillows were mish mash as were the pillow cases. I thought they had a restaurant and yoga classes and a salon, but everything was closed. Overall I'd recommend this place. It's a wonderfully affordable option and the entire staff is nice (I think we interacted with 5 of them; they'd come during the daytime). The views can't be beat, and the quietness of the location really amplified the charm that is Puerto Morelos!!!!

Jime and Lucio, who are the managers, come up with various music and night activities. Brunch with Jime and Gloria Casanova is very entertaining! Thank you to all the staff of Layla Guesthouse.

Our Butlers were Norma, Catherine & Enrique ( who we never met) Catherine visited us twice by the pool and Norma was the main texter sweet but none didn't do very much . When we first arrived, we booked a swim-out room, which was nice, but the rooms and parts of the resort definitely felt like they could use some updating. My biggest issue was the AC in our original room--it was barely working, and the first night was honestly uncomfortable. The humidity made it feel stuffy, and I had a hard time sleeping. Because of that, we decided to upgrade to the club/villa section on the opposite side of the resort--and that completely changed our experience. That area is much more secluded, quieter, and feels more upscale. We upgraded to a swim-out king room there, and it was beautiful--much newer, cleaner, and overall way more enjoyable. The private rooftop pool and more exclusive vibe made a huge difference for us. The food was actually really good, which was a pleasant surprise--no complaints there at all. Overall, I'd say this resort really depends on the room you book. If we had stayed in the original room, I probably would've rated it around a 3.5-4. But because we upgraded, we ended up having a great time. Tip: If you're considering staying here, I'd definitely recommend booking or upgrading to the club/villa section--it made all the difference for us.
