I don't know much about massages but this was my experience in this place. I called today at 10:53 am to make an appointment and they asked if I could come in then and yes (happy the sooner the better). I arrived at 11:08 am, there was only one person waiting and the empty room was passed on to the first person and a couple of minutes later to me I didn't mind. The lady asks me where I want the massage and I told her the whole body (she was very contracted, she came from working 5 days at 12 hours a day). The lady starts with the massage BUT she focused mostly on the right side of my body she asked me if the pressure was good and I said yes a little harder but it didn't feel strong in my body BUT it did feel strong in my head so much so that the headrest coverage was short and my face rub against the headrest. She rubbed my head so much that my face turned red with marks and the pores opened. I couldn't relax listening to the sounds from the next bed. We were looking for a Covid safe place last night that's open late and Hide's Shiatsu showed up. So we decided to try it. You can never know with these massage places because it's either a hit or miss. We wanted to play it safe and asked for 30 minutes, but when we got there everything was clean and they were extra with the Covid safety. We felt trusting and asked for 45 minutes. And now I feel like I should have asked for the 1 hour. Girl! Let me tell you! That massage was everything! Fire! They know their techniques and they worked my body! It was one of the best massages ever! Even better than Massage Envy! I mean.... We were their last clients and it was probably a long day for them, but they went all out for us! They didn't have to do all that, but wow! I had a ten dollar tip ready but, it was so good that I asked the homegirl to let me borrow some cash and Zelle you so I can tip this amazing man some more money damn! I've been having this shoulder problem where my arms are kind of immobile and that man did something to make that pain go away. He did better than that expensive, no good chiropractor! This is my go-to place for a massage. I like that most of the massage therapists apply strong pressure, and even though it can be painful at times, I always feel better afterwards - with the exception of today. The only therapist available at the time I was available was Roque. The website had a promo offer that said if you book with him, you get $3 off for every 15 minutes, so I decided to try a massage with him for just 30 minutes. Although he was nice and asked what areas I wanted to focus on, it felt like he applied almost ZERO pressure. He seemed to spend more time feeling around trying to figure out where to put pressure than actually working the area. Usually, the therapists here will ask if the pressure is ok, but he didn't, so I asked him if he could use more pressure. He said he had been afraid it would be too much, but I said no, I wanted more pressure. Barely any improvement. The best part was the brief hand and neck massage at the end. This massage felt like a tease; I didn't feel any better afterwards, so I felt like I wasted my money. I will not book with him or Taro again (Taro's massage was just ok, and he made a strange, loud breathing sound the whole time). But Hide, Sunny, & Ted (& I think Shuji) give excellent massages! I'll continue to book with them. I've been to both the Gardena and the Torrance locations and liked both, although the prices went up a little recently. The Torrance one is more modern looking and has sheer curtains dividing the beds. The last two times at the Gardena location, even though I was early, the massage therapist started a few minutes late, but not a big deal since I still got the full 30 minutes. Before going out to dinner with family, I decided to come here for a much needed massage. After I found my other regular spot to be filled, I was hoping this place would not be. I was right, and was attended to right away. I told my masseuse that I wanted a deep-tissue massage. Although there was a language barrier, I was able to get my message across. The massage was amazing, and it left me very relaxed. It was a good 45 minutes of relaxation. This place does not have private rooms for each client, but you lay down on a massage table under some sheets in a large room. The masseuses and masseurs her are good at what they do. Their prices are reasonable. Parking is not a problem, as this place is in a large shopping plaza. And Yami Teahouse is conveniently nearby. read more
