[1122] 7/2020 Higbee beach.... It's definitely the local hidden gem. There are no lifeguards so it's a good place if you want to just sit and enjoy watching the ocean. It was not crowded so it was a nice place to walk. It's the tip of Cape May so we came back in the evening to catch the shooting starts. It's clean and nice. I'll definitely be back.

They are all poisonous and stinging

Although this place was very pretty and had small waves- there were JELLY FISH. This seriously needs to be taken account of. We were very much excited to get away from the busy beaches of cape May. That did NOT happen. We stayed for a couple hours, earning the other people about the many jellyfish we found, and had a nice picnic. The sand is perfect for things like Kadema- almost like beach ping pong without a table or net - and sandcastles. I would've loved to swim- the water was perfect. This is a dog-friendly beach, and it's free, but again, I would NOT go into the water. There are also NO life guards We looked up the different kinds of jellies we found- all stinging and poisonous. I would recommend this bay as a picnic area- definitely don't go in the water though. Be safe!

Quiet, family/dog friendly and best of all, this is a FREE beach. It's about a 5 minute walk from the parking lot and there are very few people here. The waves are not that big so you're able swim out far or play with your dog close to the shore. A great hidden gem in Cape May!

Dog friendly beach all year long!!! You park your car and you kinda just follow the sand path to the narrow beach. It's nice. It was great to be able to bring our baby here. I didn't like the beach too much tho, very secluded and quite out of the way if you are staying in cape may, but still an awesome option if on vacation with you furry friend :)

    He loved it here!

Went here everyday of our vacation with our dog. We saw a large pod of dolphins swimming up close for half hour one day! SO amazing!

    All tuckered out!

Great beach in Cape May obviously for the sunsets but for a couple other reasons as well…read more I believe every Monday-Wednesday-Friday they lower a flag honoring a veteran. During the ceremony they play America the Beautiful, the National Anthem and Taps. It's a great thing to witness and an honor for the families of the veterans represented. They also have a few shops and Mini golf course here. Every year I stop here there seems to be more things to do here. The old cement ship is still here too.....there seems to be LESS of this every time I visit. If you're in Cape May this is a great stop for the flag ceremony and the sunset.

I note there are 2 listings here for Sunset Beach - this one being for the beach itself…read more.. Sunset Beach is a must-visit every time I go to the Jersey Cape - have watched the ship off shore slowly be reclaimed by the elements. It has also been interesting to watch the little shops slowly expand and update from year to year - now featuring plenty (usually) of parking, a mini golf course, a small but nice restaurant, nearby concrete WWII tower converted to a museum, etc. I have noticed that the Cape May Diamonds® are thinning out a bit compared to the late 70s, but there are still plenty to find - which makes this a great location to take the kids & the great thing is you don't have to spend a dime if you don't want to. Also, there is a reason for the name - great location to watch sunsets out over the bay! Highly recommended!
