I would give these scam artists 0 stars if I could, but I will have to settle for one. They came to my door at 6:30 PM in December when it was pitch black outside. The gentleman who knocked apologized for being there so late and seemed sincere about it. He then went into a pitch before I could respond that told me how they would give me a free solar consultation and that they could save me 30% on my total bill. I opted to make an appointment with them for the next day because I was told of a program that would save me even more money. I then asked him why he is knocking on doors after dark and informed him that it was illegal. He admitted that he was aware that it was illegal and that the company simply did not care. He told me how the police had told him to stop knocking in my town that evening and when his boss picked him up, said boss moved him 2 blocks away and told the young man to play dumb if police showed up again and to pretend he did not know he was still in the same town. I then asked if I he at least had a permit to solicit in our county, which he did not. Again, I asked why he was doing this illegally, to which he replied that his bosses did not care enough about the law to purchase the individuals on the team permits to solicit. What a horrible boss. My appointment was for noon and the person who was sent out did not show up promptly. I was waiting over an hour before he showed up. I will not mention how much I was quoted, but it was a lot. I had done prior research into going solar and the amount I was quoted by High Definition was more or less 30% more than any of the competition who I had spoken with. Go figure, they say they can get the government to pay for 30% of the bill and they upcharge about 30%. What a scam. They send poor young men out at night time when they know it is illegal and try to take advantage of the ignorance of people pertaining to the solar industry. I agreed to the consultation to see how legitimate this company was and they proved to me that they were completely illegitimate. They try to pressure you into buying their panels without informing you of anything properly so you think youre getting a great deal when they're ripping you off. They used to go under the name Synergy Conservation Solutions (or something along those lines) and were pulling the same dirty tricks. They also boast certifications like A+ from better business bureau and diamond certified, all of which can easily be purchased and faked. It sounds prestigious, but in reality its all smoke and mirrors. Do not trust them. They will overcharge you and you will feel stupid. read more

very happy with high definition solar. they first visited me back in 2015 to see if i was interested in going solar. though i was interested i was put off by the prize of the solar panels they provided. they followed up with me again in 2016 and this time they had a better price for the same quality solar panels they were selling which where made in canada. also the sales person who visited me during the second went above and beyond what was necessary of him. i say this because before their visit i already had an other offer from a competing firm which was at my price point. when i showed him the competitors price quote he said the price was very good and suggested i should go with it.....but he then took the time to go thru their website and informed me about how the warranty the competing firm is offering was a linear warranty and not a standard warrant and how i would run the risk of potentially paying money out of my pocket should anything happen to the panels the competitor provides. he then explained me how hd solar has standard warranty for the life of the panels (which is 25 years). he was never pushy and provided me the best information to make a call. though i ended paying a little bit more than what i would have paid for the competitor i think it was worth it given the standard warranty they provide and the quality of they work they did. after the sales phase they had touch points every step of the way and kept me informed on what to expect when. their installer also called ahead of time and told me what to expect and how long every step of the installation will take. overall very happy with them and completely satisfied with my choice. read more

We did a fairly thorough job of researching solar systems before we decided to buy. High Def was the fourth company that we "interviewed" and we were immediately impressed with the salesman's willingness to acknowledge that we were reasonably well informed and ready to "cut to the chase." He made his presentation short, was honest about what the system would and would not do for us, and quoted a reasonable price. My credit was approved in minutes and we signed the contract. The follow up inspection was scheduled promptly and it turned out that we didn't need the additional electrical work that the salesman had anticipated, so we were promptly given a credit addendum to the contract. The process of getting plans approved and the city permit proceded just as we were told to expect, and the installation began on time as scheduled. Subsequent communications with HD have been professional and informative. I would like to particularly commend Samantha, Chris, and Robert for their attention to job performance that exceeded my expectations. Their followup calls and visits kept me well informed and in the loop while insulating me from having to concern myself with the mundane details of the process. I have received my first "True up" statement from PG&E, and the system is operating a bit better than I expected. The sales rep did tell us that this company likes to "over deliver" to promote customer satisfaction. I must say that, overall, I have found this statement to be true, and I would not hesitate to endorse this company to my friends, neighbors, or co-workers. read more

I found out about High Definition Solar by way of the cold call at the door. Since I was interested in getting solar panels, I invited them to come and give me the presentation. I was so impressed by the young man who did that presentation, that I signed up right then. He examined my PG&E bills for the previous 12 months in order to determine the appropriate size for my installation. He also informed me that they would not do the installation unless I could assure them that my roof had at least 50% (I think that was the figure) of its life remaining. Since I knew when the roof was replaced, and knew its life expectancy, I was able to sign that statement. He explained the particulars of how the system works very capably. I'm old, so that is no easy task. At the end, I liked what I heard, so I bought the system. The planning, installation, and city inspection went down just the way the salesman had told me it would. PG&E was a little slower to do their job... namely, set me up with net metering, but the company kept in touch with me until that process was complete. The last step was to send out another gentleman to explain the computer app that allows me to see how my system is performing in detail, and to explain how to interpret my PG&E bills, now that I am selling THEM electricity. Long and short of it... I couldn't be happier. I would recommend this company without hesitation, PS. I trust arbitrators more than lawyers, so that arbitration agreement works just fine for me. read more

Because of the knowledgeable sales person and the cost options including owning the panels I switch to them over another local solar company. The entire process of the purchase and installation was explained in detail, I told them at the start that I would not sign anything until I was done exploring the rest of the solar company's on my list, which was fine with them. It took another 3 days for me to compare the companies on my list. I was impressed that High Definition Solar were given an A+ rating and a Diamond Certified. They were all professional and very detailed and thorough. Once I sign the paper work, They found the best deal for me. The entire process only took 2 months to complete. The installation of the panels and a new 125 amp box was completed in about 3 1/2 hours and looks great, the longest part about the installation was waiting on the electric company disconnecting and reconnecting the power. All the equipment installers were highly professional and on time and cleaned as they went. I was kept informed about each of the steps they were doing. I love the way that my electric bill has been going down over the past 2 months from over $700 to $59 last month, Looking forward to a month of full sun shine to see what it will be. BEWARE !!! MAKE SURE THEY ARE SELLING YOU A WHOLE SYSTEM! High Definition Solar sales told me buying solar will save money and it will replace my PG and E Bill. So in that case, I figure instead of paying PG&E $210 a month, I rather spend on solar. I have HD solar installed on March 2015, every step went very smoothly. After getting my annual bill from PG and E it was not the case at all. I found out that I spent more money after getting solar an avg 322 month ( Solar & pg and e) The kicker is that they only gave/sold us HALF of what we used. I am NOT happy at all. I did not know I was only getting HALF of production from the year before. I went over my concern with Janae and Chris, he told me I have to conserve our energy and told me I used more than last yr.. What a JOKE. Why should I have to conserve? I did not conserve before with PG and E, Now I have solar and I have to conserve??? This doesn't even make sense at all. I told Chris I even stop running my hot tub and I bought a new refrigerator. I requested for HD Solar/ Chris to install more panels to make it right, but he came back offer to sell me more panels at a lower cost.... that's their answer to my problem. Not much of help. We had a great experience with Hi Def Solar. We'd been thinking about getting solar panels for years, so when a salesman came to our door in SF's Castro district we put aside our usual reluctance and made an appointment. We also badly needed a new roof and HiDef has a crack team of roofers (part of their original business), so we went for that too. They laid out the costs, the tax incentives, helped with streamlining the financing with a great rate, assisted with dealing with PG&E, and got it all done in less than 3 days. While finishing up one of their roofing guys even spotted a small flaw in the new roofing after some rain, pointed it out to me, and fixed it gratis. When the city inspector came to check out the installation it passed with no problems. And when setting up the web monitoring system, their rep bought us a new router to speed things up, and a few months after our system was in and working a rep came to our house to educate us about how to use and interpret the web monitoring software and email reports. So glad to be generating our own power and getting away from PG&E as much as possible. Our electrical bill has gone down to about $20-30 bucks a month. I'm puzzled by the negative reviews -- doesn't sound like the same company! read more

High Definition Solar came out to my moms home and we decided to buy from them. The sales person was very charming and friendly. My mother is 86 so he was very patient with her, responding well to all of her concerns. After that project management came out and looked at the roof to determine where the best place for the solar panels would be. They also checked to see if there might be anything to hinder the job. They were very professional and efficient. After that the installers came out. I was very impressed with the quality of their work along with their professionalism. The Foreman also gave my mother a very nice step stool because she told him she liked it so much, Once the panels were installed and up and running well the customer relation manager came out to check on our satisfaction regarding all aspects of the process. He was very genuine and honest, he even took extra time to explain the PGE billing process after this point. We had our solar system installed by Hi-Def Solar in October 2013. Because we had a steel roof, we mandated that when they did the work that our warranty on the roof not be jeopardized. Hi-Def Solar contacted Steel Roofing and based upon their exchange of information, Hi-Def was allowed to proceed with the installation. During the time it took to do the work, not only were the workers professional during the whole time, but the quality of their work was outstanding. Although possibly more expensive than competitors, we would not hesitate to refer this company or consider them for future upgrades, We know that the materials provided by Hi-Def Solar are of the best quality available out there currently. Recently we had the pleasure of a follow-up by a Hi-Def Customer Relations Manager who promised that there would be no sales pitch during the interview and there wasn't even a hint of it. I had a canvasser from High Definition Solar come to the door. I'd been shopping for solar for a while and was surprised to see him there. Their salesman was easy-to-understand and answered all of our questions. He seemed to be very educated on the products and after speaking with him; we decided to purchase a system. I'm very satisfied with the crew that did my installation. They were professional and seemed to work well together. The crew was neat, conscientious, and worked late when the city inspector threw a curve ball just so the job would remain on time. Everything was well explained (we need to do.., the city is requiring.., PGE will..., etc.) I've been very happy so far and am looking forward to the money savings I will be receiving. The cost of electricity is gong up and will be getting more expensive as the years go on. It's very good to know that I have the option to upgrade my system by putting in as much as I can afford at a later date. Sales consult with Hugh was grounded and low pressure. We had some things to work on for our situation with PG&E and the city permitting and the site inspection team was informative and managed the process with both. We had our system installed at the end of 2014. The system is performing well 6 months later and the Enphase.com web and mobile app are great to see our production and savings. We're directly involved with new cars and electric vehicles and our system, reporting and new vehicles will help us save quite a bit in the short term and a lot in the long term. We just had a follow-up meeting with Robert, HD Solar's customer satisfaction and it was a good discussion on the savings we're seeing now. HD Solar are not doing it yet but we're interested in adding the Tesla/BMW EV related products and possibly expand the system that HD Solar can support for the next 20+ years. The sales department personnel were very professional and explained the Solar Program very well. The first Project Person had some personal Problems which delayed the Engineering Drawings. And the Company assigned another Ptoject Manager that was excellent and completed the required Design Drawing that met the Marin County's needs for approval. The Installation crew headed by Jason was excellent and completed the installation quickly and efficiently. The Customer relationship Manager, Robert Castellanos set up an appointment and arrived exacly at the time arranged. He explained the"enphase" system and how to use it with our computer and Ipad. This was very informative and helpful. He explained the Company's requirement for excellent service, Customer Relations and any followup after Sales & Service. We hired High Definition Solar to install a solar system. The sales representative presented the options for adding Solar to our home. He planned a system that would handle our electricity needs without an over built. Also he stated realistic return on investment and federal tax incentives. Before the Solar install, High Definition replaced the old roof and removed dry rot. The roofers removed the old and installed the new roof in several days. They arrived when stated, replaced the roof per the plan and cleaned up the site. Once the solar protect was approved by the local utility company, the installation was as planned. The local inspector approved the install and the solar system was operational with no issues. The inverter and the panels with the individual micro-inverter used are well rated with 25 year manufacturer's warranty. We recommend High Definition team for your solar project. read more

High Definition Solar did an outstanding job of installing a solar power system at our house. They showed up on time for all appointments. The installation day had to be put off because of rain, but on the rescheduled day they showed up with extra people and had the installation done in just over half a day. When they were done, they cleaned up everything and it was hard to tell anyone had been working there, especially inside the garage where they had to pull a Sheetrock panel off the wall. They have followed up with us several times since and everything is working fine. I was not home the day when they went through door to door, but my wife made the appointment for a salesman to come by. The salesman was definitely not a hard sell and was easy to work with. I had been skeptical of the whole idea myself. It all worked out great and I have no complaints. read more
