I usually like this place a lot. But there are a few really important things that keep this from being a five star place. 1. There's a time limit on their "free" wifi. You have to buy something every two hours to use their wifi. Really greedy considering how expensive the coffee and snacks are. 2. Really noisy place and not enough seating. I literally had to borrow a chair from another table cause there weren't enough chairs for each short table to have two. 3. I didn't like my chai tea at all. It was so spicy. Maybe it's just me but unless you adore cinnamon, it's too strong and not sweet. 4. Parking is a joke. I almost run over customers all the time because they just run in front of on coming traffic. Visiting from out of town and always like to check out the local coffee places. I had a Diablo Cubano (recommended by a barista when I wanted to try something besides my usual latte) and my husband had the pour over. My Diablo was amazing!! It is something I'll be asking my local coffee spot to make for me in the future. They have a good selection of "crafted" coffee drinks- wish I were able to stay in town longer so I could try the "Cesspool of cinnamon" or the Mayan Mocha. Nice work High Five! read more

My husband loves his cup of Counter Culture coffee and I had a delicious blended herbal tea.

15 minutes to wait for a pour over - especially after paying $6.35 for it ($5.35 + $1 tip) - is a bit ridiculous... it wasn't super crowded either. Pour over was good, not amazing. Don't think I'll be back. read more

I have enjoyed the coffee at the Dripolator since it opened . It is startling how good the coffee drinks are at this coffee shop, now with the new name, High Five. The name has changed, but the quality of the coffee and the wonderful service have not. This place had a great atmosphere, I loved the seating, the food was decent and the coffee was on point! However both our plates had a thick layer of dust on it, like the plates had been sitting on the shelf for weeks or months without being washed. It was very strange because it is ALWAYS busy on the weekends. Out of courtesy we mentioned it to the cashier, she quickly apologized but didn't offer any compensation which would have made us feel a little better about eating sandwiches off of filthy plates. read more

I really like high five coffee bar, the coffee is great and there are plenty of options, The ambiance is nice on the inside and comfortable. The parking is across the street, which is a short walk, as in 30 seconds, but it is free and that's not bad being so close to town. Saw that this coffee shop had some great reviews and served Counter Culture, so of course I had to check it out on my vacation. Definitely a great spot to get some delicious coffee, whether it's a pour over or a "Barista's Choice" (which was delicious), everything sounded great. The barista that made my drink (a blonde chick) was super helpful and explained everything in it. The friendly, down to earth vibe that this place has is awesome! It's hard to find a coffee shop that doesn't have pretentious staff (AKA hipster-know-it-alls). I'm definitely coming back for sure! read more

High Five Coffee was suggested to my hubby and I by our friends and it was the first place we visited when we came to Asheville. It's everything you would want in a coffee shop. Friendly staff, amazing coffee, tasty snacks and great ambiance. I ordered a vanilla latte and a caramelized onion & asiago cheese scone. My hubby ordered a vanilla latte with almond milk and a bagel. Everything was amazing! Their syrups are made in house and that vanilla was out of this world. Went for the first time and really enjoyed the whole experience. Came in to meet a friend and the atmosphere was perfect for some solid conversation, but I could also definitely see myself spending time there to get some work done. After reading the reviews, I had high expectations. I was a little disappointed in this place. We got there around 2:30pm on a Wednesday and the place was pretty packed. There was only 1 person in line in front of me yet we literally waited 10 minutes to even have our orders taken. We were able to snag the only 2 seats next to each other at the bar. It was another 15 minutes before we got our food and about 5-6 to get our drinks. My boyfriend and I both got black iced coffee and it was definitely nothing worth writing home about (and definitely not worth the wait). I got the chicken salad wrap and it was tasty, but not worth the price. My boyfriend's bagel was good, but also not worth the price. People were friendly, and the atmosphere was very casual, but it definitely wasn't worth the wait. You also have to go ask someone for the wifi password, which was difficult to do since they were so busy. I'd try somewhere else before I returned back here. read more

My husband and I are regulars - here's why. The coffee is great. Really delicious. The staff is upbeat and professional. The baked goods are homemade and they even offer a terrific gluten free banana bread. If you want something more substantial try the quiche: delicate and well flavored. They put quality into everything: the buchi, the chocolate bars, the pastries, the local beer and - this is amazing - the tea! They offer the very best tea and prepare it as carefully as their coffee. Sometimes I go to this coffee house for the tea. Amazing. The Wi-Fi is fast. The seating is varied, indoor and out, and it accommodates a number of activities: I've come here for meetings, working, studying/reading and just chilling. it's not unusual to see writers, students, business people, hardhats, retirees and shoppers taking a break. The location of this place is great! As is the abundant free parking. The staff is usually very friendly. I work at a coffee shop and prefer to purchase coffee at locally owned places. If you're in a rush I wouldn't got here. They actually hand-craft their beverages and depending on how many people are in front of you, you may be waiting a while. It's worth every second. I have a few favorite coffee shops around town and this one hands down has the best Americanos. Did I mention the location?!! A one block walk up Broadway will bring you right in town. Taking my morning long stroll with my dogs, I rambled into High Five for my cup of Joe, attracted by it's lovely patio, no purposeful place to clip the pups but the table did the trick. The long line moved quickly with baristas working quickly, everyone courteous and enjoying the rather packed new years eve morning atmo. The case didnt have many food choices but something told me they may have more snacks than they advertise. Dark wood interior gives a sophisticated appeal which I totally appreciated. I received my lovely looking short Americano and left to be with my pups. It was chilly so we kept walking on. The coffee tasted sour. If I stayed I would of let them know kindly and gotten a second try. There are several mistakes that makes coffee sour and Im not sure what went wrong....
