Vault Coffee was a really good stop in downtown Coeur d'Alene. It's in a cool old bank building on…read moreSherman Ave, so it already has more character than your average coffee place before you even order anything. The coffee menu was the big win for me. They had a lot of unique latte options instead of just the same basic flavors you can get anywhere, and I liked that they leaned into local touches with huckleberry items. That's the kind of thing that makes it feel like you're actually getting something from the area and not just another copy-paste coffee stop. It's also in a great spot if you want to make more of an afternoon out of it. There are cute little shops around downtown, and you're close enough to wander over toward the park and the lake after grabbing coffee. It's an easy place to stop, walk around, and actually enjoy Coeur d'Alene for a bit. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you like flavored lattes and want something a little more interesting than the normal coffee chain run.

I'm always tempted by pumpkin this time of year, but the Chilton Chai on their Gilmore Girls menu spoke to me today. It's their version of a dirty chai and has a good balance of spice and sweetness. You can also get hints of the espresso breaking through. The team today was extra friendly. A+ today

It feels very open with a long wooden table in the center and tables on the side wall and by the window with a few couches at that end. Turmeric chai was bomb! Lightly sweet with a light turmeric ginger flavor. And best of all it was caffeine free!! So great anytime of day or for those sensitive to caffeine like me. 8oz was $6 so that is steep for the smallest size but it was good enough I'd come back for it when in the area again. They are known for there hand pies so had to try one of those! I got the mixed berry since they were out of there most popular huckNberry and it was good, pretty sweet for me in the morning so wish I had tried a savory one but had good flavor and flaky crust. I bet the chicken pot pie one is really good in that crust. My friend got a seasonal Latte with pecan I believe and liked it a lot. Coffee forward which put the spotlight on the flavor / quality of the beans which she liked a lot. Anywho I'd stop by again

Terre Coffee is a local coffee shop chain. They're more into the "artisan hip" rather than…read more"corporate" vibe. I'm not a huge coffee guy, so I couldn't tell you whether or not the coffee was good here. But my wife is a huge coffee person and she says that the cold brew especially is really good. I usually get a tea when I come in and the teas have all been quite good. The main things that bring this location down to four stars are: indoor seating, parking lot, and prices. First up... there isn't a lot of indoor seating, and it's also not super "cozy" like I want it to be. If you're looking for a place to sit down curl up and read your book while sipping on a coffee on a rainy afternoon they will probably be an open seat, but it's not going to be a comfy open seat, and they will probably be a bunch of other people around. Second, the parking lot is really weird. Half of it is on one side of the building the other half is on the other side of the building it's confusing on how to get in and out of and whether or not you're going into the right side. Last... The price. Look, I'm sure owning a small business is tough to try to turn a profit. But coffee and tea just shouldn't be this expensive. I think I might have to make a rule for all coffee shops that no coffee shop can get five stars unless it's not super expensive. I do want to say before I go, that everyone who works here is super friendly and welcoming. I've really appreciated the people who work here every time that I've been in. They're also really great with my kids, and I have four little kids, and it's a nice touch when you bring them into establishment where people are cool and treat them well. But it's a really nice local coffee shop. Definitely worth checking out.
