They were in the neighborhood yesterday and were told door to door needs to have a permit here. Hit my door up and I said the same thing. He said I was wrong and got rude. We called the city to verify that a permit was needed and they asked me to call 911 along with the other complaints. This posted is based on personal experience of HPH door to door salesman at MY door. # 1 my front door has a no soliciting sign however when I answered the door the sales starts with his fast talk of we are a "LOCALLY" owned company and I see your home is in need of siding. I told him was getting it painted soon he stated ye the siding is no good you really need yo go to hardy board. When I asked for his license to solicit in the city of Des Moines he stated he had one on his phone. I Then asked if it was from the City of Des Monies as it is illegal to solicit door to door here. That's when he started with the old age and fixed income insults. I told him I wasn't interested and he should just leave Des Moines. After looking the company up they are not even local. I don't call Vancouver Washington local to Des Moines. Regards that the Owners want this post down. Please advise them to follow the LAW of the city where they want to solicit. read more

it was a pleasure meeting and working with this team. the initial evaluation was thorough and detailed. he went over all the findings in detail with pictures and answered all our questions. the main office worked diligently and patiently with us as we worked through some difficulties. in the end life got in the way and we were unable to continue with the project, however the service and care we were shown during the initial process was exemplary and I would highly recommend them if you are in the market for a new roof. read more

Buyer beware! Sales pitch was great initially although we were then bribed to leave a 5 star review. That should have been our sign. The roofing material quality is good but our awning was broken by the roofing installers and they didn't say a word. We had to call and ask for it to be fixed. Roofing install was incorrect and had to be redone after my husband found it in the attic. Our skylight molding was broken on nearly every skylight (which is not being fixed by them) and one of our mechanical skylights is still broken even though it was supposed to have been fixed many months ago! In short, the sales pitch is just that! The contractor they subbed for our windows was fantastic and highly professional. read more

I'm writing in hope your company can change their sales pitch ways. Two people came to my house today to check out my attic and my roof. That may have taken them about 20 minutes. They came in and spent over an hour selling me their pitch, which included words you don't need other bids. In the end they reduced by cost twice and in the end, it was only good for this day. Now some people may have gotten other bids already and can decide on their low ball cost for just the day. But I thin it is a wrong type of sales pitch. I thought your product and idea of what they would do for me was valid but in the end I'm not calling back. Why because I think if you can do that low ball bid for the day, you could easily do it for a week or two. But the pushiness of doing it this way is so wrong to me. I have to think about things, and actually, I have to get two more bids. It is sad to me that this kind of sales pitch is so over used. I again liked the thoughts they gave me, but it shouldn't have taken over an hour to do that. I'm not stupid and could have gotten the information faster. They were nice men who came but clearly your company heads allow them to be this pushy and low ball a price to get people to sign up that day. I just don't operate that way and feel this is a sad say to sell a product. read more

If I had seen the BBB reviews first, I would never had continued with HPH. But I am happy to say, none of those negative reviews was what I experienced with this Company. From the first knock on my door, to the day of meeting the 2 estimators, to the men who delivered the materials, to the day and men of the installation, I have NOTHING negative to say about HPH Company. Travis Vandeberghe proved to be very respectful, considerate and professional. Travis stayed longer than I'm sure he thought he would. I had 100 questions about the Company, the work crew he would send, the safety features for the men on top of my roof. Of course I had many questions about how to finance this job. Travis educated me on every issue, to my complete satisfaction, and without ever using pressure or fear techniques. Travis told me it might take about 3 full days to do all the work. The Team began removing the old roof at 7 a.m. and they were done by 3:30 p.m. same day!!!! No loud yelling, music or banging. The entire time a Team was working on the roof, 2 men were fully engaged in continuously going around the house, picking up fallen debris and nails. With a large magnet!!! None of my shrubs or flowers were walked on or damaged. No switch-ups, no surprise purchases needed. I had NO fears signing the Completed Work papers. Brett Randall, salesman came to my home to inspect the roof and check the attic. He told my daughter and me that we had significant Black and White Mold in the attic, a leak going into a light fixture and the skylight was damaged and needed to be replaced. He also specified a "today only deal" and we needed to act fast. (Red Flag) We did NOT act fast, instead I called my insurance agent State Farm and filed a Homeowners claim thinking there was serious damages to the roof and attic and our health was in danger My adjuster Mike came today and inspected the attic and inspected the skylight: NO MOLD anywhere in the attic NONE NO LEAK anywhere in the attic WHATSOEVER NO problems with skylight NONE So before you are swindled into a "Today Only" offer from HPH, High Performance Homes, please have a non interested party give a second opinion. Predators. Cold-call knocks on my door twice in one day - once to sell me solar panels that I'd already been assured wouldn't work with my house for a number of reasons by multiple companies but were sure they could do it. (whatever, bro) Then said they could give me a next day quote on new siding. I'm looking to re-side my house in about 6 months and they claimed the quote would be good for up to a year. So sure, I'm home most days anyway, so send someone out. The guy came the next day over an hour early without calling but that's fine, I'm around. He spent 20-30 min measuring around the house, and knocked again wanting to go over it. Great. So I offer him a chair on the porch - my dog isn't great with strangers and my basement renovation is in full swing so the place is a madhouse and it was a nice sunny day. He was upset and said he needed 90 min to go over it with me and that we could sit at the kitchen table (I don't have one - it's a SMALL @#$%^ House), and now I'm getting pissy with the tactics and I've got a basement to get back to work on, so I told him I thought it shouldn't take more than 10 min but I'd give him 15 if he really insisted. He wanted to tell me all about the company and it would take 90 min to pick out colors. Picking colors is getting WAY ahead of ourselves, buddy. I explained in no uncertain terms I am NOT picking colors or committing to any huge project on the same day one person dropped by when I hadn't done any research or gotten competing bids and I'm not ready for 6 months anyway and I explained that to the last guy. Well, we basically fought for the next 15 min over financing when I said repeatedly money wasn't the issue and I wasn't interesting in financing or deferrals (it was like I was talking to a blank wall - he wanted nothing more than to talk about financing for a project I'd already 100% decided I wasn't going to do with these people and didn't want in either case). Sorry for the ranting - relevant though is that the quote was NOT valid for a year. It was valid for a day, I think, maybe 3? Then it went up 15K for 90 days and then another 15K for the rest of the year. So the 'good for a year' thing was hot bullsh!t and that strategy (commit now with 33% down or it'll get too expensive to imagine and no one can save you but me!) along with everything else is high pressure sales nonsense designed to make sure old ladies don't have a chance to check Yelp reviews before committing their life savings. This was a $60K job they wanted me to commit to on the spot. I'm furious I entertained them for as long as I did - I need to get less civil when confronted with pure manipulation like that. High Performance Homes uses scam-like tactics and will attempt to lock you into contracts without full information. Using car-salesmen techniques and empty promises of ease and simplicity as well as pressuring us to make a decision on the spot, this company tried to sell us siding for our home. After pushing us with "one more option that (we) would be mad if (he) didn't tell (us) about," we agreed. We shouldn't have. They came to see us on a Friday and by Monday we had realized that what we'd agreed on was not a deal we wanted. Despite visiting with and attempting to sell to us for more than two hours, neither of the two people who came to see us - Adrian nor Nate - had ever mentioned the cancellation policy for this project. I was also unable to locate ANY information about cancellation anywhere on their website or in any place or site that wasn't within another negative review. Within the extensive DocuSign document/contract, I was able to find the policy. "OWNER MAY CANCEL THIS AGREEMENT AT ANY TIME PRIOR TO MIDNIGHT OF THE THIRD BUSINESS DAY AFTER THE DATE OF THIS AGREEMENT. TO CANCEL THIS AGREEMENT, SEND CERTIFIED MAIL OR DELIVER A SIGNED AND DATED NOTICE, WHICH STATES THAT BUYER IS CANCELING THIS AGREEMENT, OR WORDS OF SIMILAR EFFECT. THE NOTICE SHALL BE SENT TO: HIGH PERFORMANCE HOMES INC., 4200 SE COLUMBIA WAY, SUITE C, VANCOUVER, WA 98661. A few days later, on Saturday morning, I got a text that said, "The USPS package has arrived at the warehouse and cannot be delivered due to incomplete address information. Please confirm your address in the link. Ready to ship when changes are complete. ...nspackage.com (Please reply Y, then exit SMS, and reopen the SMS activation link. Or copy the link to Google Chrome to open) The USPS team wished you a great day!" Now, I know I should have been suspicious of this text. If I had simply done an internet search, I would have learned immediately that this was fully a scam. But I was prepared to believe that HPH was specifically making the process complicated; that the address provided in the contract was wrong or that they had even refused the letter to cause more delay and lock me into the contract. The only two groups who knew that I was sending ANYTHING were USPS and HPH. Did HPH sell my information to a group that specifically targets those trying to cancel with them? Was it just a wild overlap of coincidence that I got a random scam text at the same time that I was actually attempting to send something which needed to be signed for? I cannot be sure, but I advise everyone and anyone to steer clear of High Performance Homes. read more

Cold call/ knocking complaint. An HPH guy knocked and rang my doorbell twice even though I have a no soliciting sign on my door. I have 2 babies I'm trying to get to and stay asleep for naps. I explained it wasn't a good time due to that and the guy kept trying to push his shpeal to me. He had a bit of attitude when asking why I wouldn't want to hear from him and my response being that my biggest concern at the moment was taking care of my babies. He looked very displeased with my response. Overall frustrated with not getting the hint to go away after explaining why it was not a good time to talk. I understand having to solocite but when I worked for a company that did that we were told to avoid homes with no soliciting signs and to be polite when turned away. read more

I was cold solicited for a new roof by a High Performance Homes, Inc. team while taking out my garbage. Since they were on the street, they weren't technically in violation of the King County ordinance against door-to-door solicitation. Green shirts, yellow vests. They instantly struck me as the "Porch Pirate" style of roofing company -- the kind that drives through neighborhoods looking for houses with patched roofs, promises great things, then does a crappy job and doesn't return phone calls. After reading their Yelp reviews, I decided against even bothering to listen to their pitch when the "estimate team" showed up the next day -- without masks or ladders. How are they going to inspect the roof without walking it? That "eyeballing it" from ground level is a huge red flag. Anyway, I told them variations of "no thanks" and "go away" but they wouldn't leave my property until I started taking photos of their license plates. Save yourself the trouble and don't even bother setting an appointment. read more

Update: They finally contacted me and said they wanted a $300 deposit just to send someone out to look at the issue. If they determined it was a warranty issue I would get a refund, if not, that was the cost of the inspection. I have never had a contractor charge to come look at something. Again, this is ridiculous. Update2: Had another contractor come out. When the siding was installed they didn't lengthen the dryer vent so the steam was escaping between the new siding and the old, causing moisture. Luckily there was no damage. How hard would it have been to have them come out and take a look at that? Obviously their warranty means nothing, they have zero customer service and don't stand behind their work. I had my siding replaced with Hardy Board in 2019. I paid the extra because of the warranty they they said was "amazing". Too bad they won't respond when you have an issue! I called almost two weeks ago and spoke to Lisa. She requested pictures, which I sent promptly, and said she would get back to me the next day. That was almost two weeks, many texts and voicemails ago. I have heard absolutely NOTHING. Don't bother spending the extra money on the service and warranty this company says is so excellent. They won't honor it and once you pay, the customer service absolutely disappears! I am so incredibly disappointed and angry. read more

I contracted with High Performance Homes for a full-home siding replacement on July 31, 2021. We were told that they were backed up for three weeks. MONTHS went by without hearing anything. When we would call for an update, we would get bounced to a new person every time. Work did not begin until November 10, 2021. That's over THREE MONTHS after the paperwork was signed. The only reason it began then was because the financing approval was set to expire at the end of November. The entire project was rushed to meet that deadline, and there weren't very many days in November with fair weather. This absence of communication and rush to finish set the tone for everything else that went wrong. I appreciate that getting anything done in the time of Covid is difficult, but it doesn't excuse the poor communication. Material delivery was sporadic. Some materials were delivered a month before the project began and before the final project manager was even assigned. Some work had to be delayed because materials weren't available when the crew needed them. Some materials couldn't be obtained at all the colors we contracted for, and we opted to settle for different colors. The crew accidentally walled over my dryer vent the day before Thanksgiving. Given the long weekend and the immediate need, I had to cut a new vent myself. This after they chopped down the flagged lavender plant that was in front of it. This was when I got angry. All exterior electrical outlets, light fixtures, utility boxes, vents, and gutter downspouts were torn off the house with no intention of putting them back. I did not know that they had no intention of putting them back. Electrical outlets were left dangling by wires (sometimes naked copper wires) off the side of the house. This was unsafe. All ground wires for the telephone and satellite dish were cut and not reattached. This was unsafe. When I complained, I was told that this was in my paperwork, but to this day I can find nothing about this. The paperwork mostly applies to roofing jobs, not siding jobs. I had to hire my own electricians to fix these issues after the project was done. At some point a nail was driven into a hot electrical wire. This combined with the foil coating on some preexisting thermoply sheathing caused most of the exterior of my house to become electrified. It was an accident. I accept that accidents will happen. The negative part for me was that I had to discover the problem for myself. I had a team of electricians diagnose and fix the problem after the job was complete. My yard was a mess for the entire project. The old aluminum siding that was removed from the house on day one lay in piles in my yard until the project was finished, instead of in the dumpster. The dumpster sat in front of my house for a full week after the project was completed. Almost three weeks later, I'm still picking up nails and plastic caulking tips. The siding is level and looks better than the old siding from a distance. Up close I find bad measurements and miscut boards, especially over doors and windows. Most of these were covered up with colored caulk on the last day of the project so they're not noticeable. I still need to do some more sealing of my own. I also need to hire a painter, as anything that isn't hardyboard is installed unpainted. That part surprised me too, but it was indeed in the paperwork. I'm certain I would've gotten better results if the project had been done in sunny August when it was supposed to start instead of in soggy November with the crew battling bad weather, short days, juggling other projects, and racing to meet a financing deadline. The crew worked long hours in poor weather and I commend their dedication. Lack of communication is still my biggest complaint, and I think that would've been the same in any month. read more

We used them to replace our roof after one of their salesman used the typical high pressure sales tactics to win us over. Once you sign the contract my how the tune they sing changes. Shortly after we signed the contract we found out our beloved adopted kitten had a heart issue and would need a cardiologist and on going care. We tried to cancel as it had only been a couple of weeks and no work or date had even been sent even asked if we could pay the cost that had incurred up until the point. They went on to belittle me, try and make me feel bad that their workers would be deprived of pay and then in the same breath brag about the multi million dollar business they do. I tried explaining the situation about our cat to Andy and he suggested I put the cat down and cut my losses. He compared it to having to sell a car he financed once and couldn't afford it. I then emailed the owner whom never responded but did pass along to Andy that they would be receiving another better business complaint from me which I never said in my email. Then Andy confronted me about it which I told him he was mistaken. Long story short we had to go through with the job as they threatened to sue us and put a lien on our house. So before the job moved forward we told Stephen that we didn't not want to finance the job and would just pay with a credit card as they said that was an option he stated it was to hard to cancel the loan even though our job had not started yet even and said I could PayPal my husband the money then pay the loan with that money so I would still get points on my credit card. He claimed he does it all tbd time which must not be true because PayPal charges a credit card fee percentage so any points I would receive would be canceled out. I was so done with this company at this point I figured I would just pay off the no fees no interest loan. I feel like a fool when we paid off the loan we got a bill for $203.50 termination charge. So basically HPH fed us a lie not surprised after the fact! Also I recently went to move my Christmas decorations in my over head storage in my garage only to find a huge mess from tbd roofing job empty water bottles dirt nails shingles you name it! Among about 100+ nails from my yard that I have found over the last 9 months luckily my kids haven't stepped on any. My husband wasn't so lucky. This company is a joke with plenty of better business complaints and bad reviews if you look. The owner could care less! When I told the person was not interested in a leak test they asked if I wanted a bid on a new roof. Again I said no and that I don't buy anything from door to door sales people. I'm an experienced home owner and never seen the hoopla they want you to go through. First off - door to door solicitation is illegal in our city. I was outside at the time so whatever. One star reviews are rare for me, but this is just too much. A lead generator for High Performance Homes knocked on our door and although I'll rarely engage with door-to-door solicitors beyond a smile and a "No, thank you," we need to replace our roof within the next two years, so we figured it wouldn't hurt to let them pitch. They have a policy that states both homeowners need to be home even for the initial estimate, and although that's irritating (we shouldn't have to convenience a company when they haven't done a thing to earn our business), my husband blocked his morning work schedule to be here. I have more flexibility because I work at home, but with an appointment mid-morning, I postponed my work till afternoon. At between 8 and 8:30, my husband phoned their scheduler (the only number available) to ask a question. His call was never returned. Our 10 a.m. appointment time came and went. Their rep fully no-showed and we've received no follow-up. This would be bad enough had we sought them out. It's only made worse by the fact that they inconvenienced us, coming to our door pleading for our business, only to have two departments show us their worst side after we took the bait. I followed up with the company this morning. HPH is out of Vancouver, WA (something I didn't know when we set up the appointment) and looking to break into Seattle and the surrounding area, it appears. In a market with so many good options for home improvement -- and so many homegrown local/Puget Sound options -- no company can afford to blow it this badly, least of all a one here to compete with those homegrown companies for our business. Just as others have mentioned. This is a company that thrives of trying to make homeowners make an instant decision on the spot with their sales practices. Here's the pitch. Straight out of the used car dealership handbook. They first ask that you make sure your wife is home. Red flag #1. I don't have a wife or spouse so found that funny. 2. They demand to come in and sit down with their pitch book. 3. They try to sell you on certifications that nobody else has. 4. They give you the price and watch your reaction. 5. The lowest price is sign on the dotted line right now before we leave. 6. They bring in the closer. They call their manager and he reluctantly gives them authority to go lower on the bid. 7. The bid is much higher then anyone else. My guess is they canvass older richer neighborhoods and try to pray on older couples or naive homeowners. I had to take a shower after the encounter as I felt so slimy from the bs they were slinging. Note: I posted a picture of the pitch sheet for people to see, but Yelp removed it but just imagine the dealership pitch piece and you will be pretty close to what the actual document looks like. read more

I've been waiting to leave this review in the hopes that they would do right. That still hasn't happened so here goes. I will start off by saying my new roof is beautiful and the contractors were nice guys. The salesman was nice as well but the office staff is horrible. Don't expect return phone calls because apparently they can't be bothered. First of all, we were quoted a monthly price much lower than we are actually paying. I'm sure that's due to needing more plywood than originally anticipated which I understand. We were shown the rotten wood and mold and obviously that needed to be changed out. We were told that we were under our loan budget and that we would be receiving a refund check for $123.00 but upon receiving our 2 first invoices for the 2 loan companies that were used, BOTH loans WERE OVER THE LOAN AMOUNT!!! My husband has made numerous calls with NO response to date. We've received no finalized paperwork and wouldn't even know how to submit a warranty request if we needed one, as the roof is SUPPOSED to include a 50 year warranty. Bottom line is, save your money and go with someone else. It's not worth the headache. We also had to clean up the mess left by the workers that they left, although they were supposed to go around with a magnet etc for nails. We've cleaned up several large staples and roofing debris that were in our yard. They also had the debris container in my driveway, not the street like we had told them as we live in a manufactured home park and can't park on the street after 10pm without a permit. It took days for them to get it out of the driveway and thankfully a nice neighbor had room for my car so I wouldn't get towed. Very poor communication and shady business practices. We hired HPH in July to replaced our failed siding. The project started in October and has yet to be finished. We had concerns about the installation almost immediately and were told they would all be resolved. It is now January and we are waiting. We hired a home inspector to take a look and he found many instances of improper installation. He advised us to contact James Hardie's technical support. James Hardie (JH) agreed with the inspector and we submitted both reports to HPH. They are still refusing to fix all of these items claiming they have their own JH representative that disagrees. When I asked for their JH rep so we could speak to him about these concerns they refused to share that information. They also refuse to communicate through email (we want to get their responses in writing) and we had no email address for our project manager ,David, until 2 weeks ago because he refused to communicate except over the phone. In trying to resolve this HPH has pressured us to sign off on the project and threatened to pull our financing if we don't sign off. Here is the list of items unfinished and unacceptable - We chose the Color Plus prepainted siding. When it's installed the cement dust that occurs from cutting must be removed immediately or it will be impossible to remove. Our house is covered with dust handprints and streaks that now cannot be removed. The JH rep told us the only option is to have the entire house painted - They did not reinstall vent covers, outlet covers, downspouts, utility boxes and cables - There has been no touch up of chips and scratches ( there are MANY) missing and messy caulk around trim and butt joints that are not flush - There are several areas that are not properly installed where flashing is required. These items will void the manufacturers warranty. HPH is refusing to do it even though JH requires it and our inspector also says it's required - We knew a portion of our chimney frame was rotten and HPH told us the chimney frame had to be entirely replaced at an extra cost of $5000. The installers spent 4 hours on that repair and replaced a very small portion of it. We questioned this and asked for an accounting of the work and they refused - The flashing they installed has dangerously sharp corners and was not cleaned of dust and debris before being painted. They also got paint on our concrete walkway that has to be removed - The wood trim surrounding our garage door was damaged during removal of the old siding. HPH claims it is not their responsibility to replace it. - HPH told us all the plywood would have to be replaced due to rot. The installers only replaced a portion of the plywood and we have a huge stack of unused plywood that we paid to have installed that wasn't - The installers cut down a lilac tree (all the way to the ground) without consulting us at all. - improper installation of cables We are now consulting with an attorney as HPH refuses to address these problems. We are 3 months in to this installation and still have an unfinished project with no end in sight. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this company! read more

We had HPH install a new roof this past winter. The salesman were engaged until we sign the contract and then we couldn't get anyone to return our phone calls unless they wanted more money. We also had them to our gutters and now we're having issues. We have emailed and called and I had no response. The only positive about the experience was the actual installers. These guys are a joke. They'll solicit you for a "free no obligation inspection with a quote good for 12 months". Inspection seemed thorough and they install decent product, but then will add up the numbers on a piece of paper. You'll get a 1-year quote option, a 90 day option, and the buy it now price. Expect every strong armed sales trick in the book and make no mistake, they are only interested in selling you the buy it now option. Wasn't even allowed to keep the product brochure or the quote! The end product was great! I had some frustration with timing as the project seemed to start and stop frequently. I understand there were times when the crew was pulled off to do other things, but they also promised times and then didn't deliver. Not sure if that was the fault of management at HPH or the crew itself. Also, the crew was not employed by HPH so that brought some inconsistencies in scheduling (which was not divulged at point of sale). High pressure sales tactics. Unfortunately I am not able to use their services presently but when the time comes, I will definitely call Thomas, the "salesman" that came and gave us an estimate. We had an appointment on a Saturday afternoon and frankly, I had forgotten all about it. When he showed up at exactly 3p the appointed time, I remember thinking this was the last thing I wanted to do but I do need to start thinking about a new roof before this coming Winter. Thomas could not have been more professional and he actually had my boyfriend and my complete attention for the 90 minutes he was here. He got up on the roof, assessed the situation while jotting down some notes and came down to give us the news. He was so detail oriented, explaining what goes into putting on a roof and by the time he left, we had no questions. His easy going nature made us feel comfortable and not pushed into something we weren't ready to do yet his presentation was engaging enough to make me want to get started right away. Unfortunately, as I started this review with, life stepped in while he was at our home and our attention was diverted to a personal emergency. That appointment was a couple of weeks ago and I kept thinking what a great salesman Thomas was and so I needed to write this review. If his company, High Performance Homes, comes even close to what Thomas convinced us of, then I look forward to doing business with them. These guys came to our home multiple times in the last three days after the homeowner told them he wasn't interested and didn't have the money to do the repairs that don't need to happen for another 5 years (the homeowner worked for 20 years building houses in the PNW). They came on Christmas Eve, yeah Christmas Eve, to spend an hour (what was supposed to be 15 minutes) talking about a home repair that doesn't need to happen. The worst part was they were asked to wear a mask in the home and after 50 minutes, one of the men had his mask down under his nose and upper lip. I understand if they don't take COVID-19 seriously, but my partner's parents are both in the at risk age group and have had heart attacks. Between not respecting our mask request and wasting an hour of our Christmas Eve, I highly recommend going somewhere else. I didn't hire these guys, so I'm not reviewing their work, just their business practices. They showed up to do a roof inspection, and they seemed professional, if a bit dramatic about the state of our roof. Then they gave us three estimates -- one good for a year, one good for 90 days, and one good for that day only. If we had known up front that this was going to happen, we would have scheduled other roofers to come out and give us estimates first so we could make an informed decision. But I'm not going to spend tens of thousands of dollars without getting additional estimates. When we told them this, they got just a bit rude, like we had been wasting their time. So that was a turn off. Secondly, their "today only" quote was about double what three other roofing companies have given us. read more

This company...smh. I happened to be getting estimates for a roof and gutter replacement when one of their solicitors approached me while I was in my garage...thought she was sent by God so I agreed to an appointment :-). I already knew the appointment would be a big sales pitch, but I still signed up to see what they had to say. I had nothing better to do, and who knows, right? The day of the appointment, I got a call that the salesperson would be 1/2 hr late - eyebrow raised - um, ok. When he finally arrived, he was very cordial, and he mentioned that his partner was finishing up a big job and would be along shortly. An HOUR LATER, the partner arrived then the show was on. They went through a whole spiel about local roofing price averages, Homewyse data, their company's reputation, blah, blah, blah...the whole time playing off each other. They even tried to convince me that companies with lower bids were most likely using inferior components...like felt paper - uh, no. It became a little entertaining to watch. They kept asking about financing, to which I responded that I take my time and save up to pay cash for everything - that seemed to put a bit of wrinkle in their sell job. They finally cut to the chase (as I'm doing here) and threw a BIG number at me: $25K for a SIMPLE 5/12-pitch roof with no angles. "Is that about what you were thinking?" Me: "Not even close." Oh, yeah, I guess I forgot to include the $3K estimate on top of that for the gutters. If I decided to wait, the one-year price would be $29K+ $3K, because, you know, materials and labor cost increases. They were even nice enough to cut the total price to $25K if I decided to work with them now. Wait, am I buying a used car or a roof? The kicker is that they left me with a handwritten proposal on notebook paper. Huh?? Long story even shorter, I went with a company with an extraordinary reputation that charged me about half the High Priced Homes one-year price. They're using better materials and even replacing all the sheeting on the roof over the main part of my house. While I was signing the contract, the estimator discovered an error in his estimate and knocked $1,000 off the price without me saying anything about it. Bottom line: Please stay away from High Priced Homes. There are many trustworthy companies out there - no need to waste your time. read more
