About as slimy as you can get! Free window estimate turned into having a really uncomfortable argument with the "used car salesman" throwing out the hard pitch to try and get us to buy Windows. Like everyone else posted, dude insisted my wife must sit down with us for the presentation because it's a "family event". Not sure about his family, but getting a window estimate on a beautiful Saturday afternoon isn't my idea of a family event. When I refused to have my wife sit the salesman said he couldn't continue. Couldn't get a roofer's estimate without my husband present... Last week I tried to get an estimate for a new roof from High Performance Homes, and they canceled my scheduled time because my husband wasn't available... even after I mentioned I was in the architectural field and familiar with their products (Malarkey) and would be the sole person making this decision. They kept pressuring me to find a time that he could be available too. I asked why they were so pushy and they said it was their "policy"' and since he wasn't available they canceled the estimation. After the marketer stopped by my house I decided to set an appointment for an estimate on my roof and windows. I'm really glad I did. The representative that did my inspection was really good. The other companies that I called out to give me a bid did not do an inspection that was comparable. While the two other companies that came out walked around the house and left me a bid, Taylor, my HPH representative did a drone inspection and went into my attic where they found the mold. The drone inspection was great because my roof isn't walkable in two places and we were able to see the condition of the roof. High Performance Homes did the best inspection and I felt cared the most about my project, the other companies were smaller and I don't think they would of done as good as a job. Scheduling called and I was able to get my roof installed within three weeks. The roofing installers we great, very professional and clean. The replaced all of moldy plywood and did the correct venting. The roof looks so much better and I am very very happy with my experience. I am looking forward to getting my windows done next! read more

I wish I could write a good review of this company, but unfortunately there have been far too many negative aspects in my experiences to do so. It began when my wife and I encountered a canvasser in the neighborhood trying to drum up business. He was polite and courteous, so my wife set up an appointment to get an estimate on a new roof. The sales rep. came and gave a good and in depth presentation to me and my wife. Since we were interested in getting an estimate, the rep. told us he needed some information to run a credit check and seek loan approval to give us a complete estimate. We gave him the info and he quickly sent us a series of docusign forms to my cell phone, which were signed and initialed and returned to him. He gave us the estimate, which was a bit higher than we were comfortable with and then he left saying that someone would contact us in a few days from the main office to let us know if our loan was approved and we could discuss how we would like to proceed. A couple of days later my wife texted him to let him know that we were still contacting other contractors and getting bids. He responded "Sure". We finally found a company we really liked and gave us a much lower estimate for a high quality roof which suited our needs. We signed a contract with him and also the necessary loan documents which he gave us copies of. Then, when we informed HPH of our decision we were told we couldn't do that. My wife and I were totally taken aback by this reaction. It turns out that in the financial documents we signed for a credit check and loan approval, there was a contract embedded. We had not taken the time to thoroughly read what we had been signing and the sales rep. had not mentioned that to us. We were aghast! They informed us that we should have canceled by certified mail three days after the documents had been signed if our intention had been to simply get an estimate. They then sent another representative to our house who berated us for basically being too stupid to fully read the original documents and then told us how amazing our new roof would be! We were going to love it! Of course, we canceled everything because we didn't feel like we were being treated fairly and we didn't matter as much to them as simply making a sale. Today we received notice that they were going to place an $8,000+ lien on our house because we didn't want them to proceed with the installation. It has been nothing but a series of unfortunate and negative events in our interactions with HPH. Needless to say, we really don't feel like we can do business with this company. Yes, we should have been more careful and not so trusting. I am writing this review in hopes that your experiences might not turn out as badly. read more

High performance homes- don't use them. Please tell everyone you know in the Pacific Northwest. They are refusing to remediate mold damage from their incorrect installation of windows (without flashing so not up to code) and the CEO just hung up on me. I've been trying to get this fixed for 3.5 months. It took them almost a month to even send someone to add the flashing while I had to repeatedly staple garbage bags to my house in the winter. Then another month before they agreed to do mold testing (which the guy who came told me if it was his house he would look further but he wasn't paid by them to be thorough). I then paid for someone else to come and they refused those results. They waited another month before sending someone else and then of course it was dryer. They sent a guy to fix the drywall who literally just covered the mold with drywall mud! He left me a bottle of mold spray paint and told me if it came through the drywall mud to spray it again! Now they are refusing to pay for the mold people I had come or any remediation of the mold spores even their own people commented they saw on the wood in the attic space because it's "dry". CEO Sheila Adel hung up on me and refuses to speak to me anymore. I even had to go up on a ladder and repair their repair because the caulking job was so awful. They installed a 30 year roof which is now leaking after 2 years and the roofing company I had come out to do the repairs said we would be lucky if the roof lasts another five years do to the poor and improper installation of the roof that is already causing damage to my house. read more

They have no communication skill set once you order your windows. We ordered windows from HPH mid August 2017, they came out to measure the windows in 1-2 weeks and said they wouldn't fit. The salesmen came out the next Sunday and said they'd be fine. The first of October we got a call saying they were running two weeks behind. They just called last Friday, 12.8.17 to say they'd be out Monday to put the windows in. Highest bid I had of three - about 50% higher than next one and over twice the best one. When I laughed and told the guy his price was ridiculous, he got pissed an stormed out of the house. Like many other reviewers on Yelp, they ignored my "No Soliciting" sign. I told the sales guy I wasn't interested at the moment, but would be happy to take his card for the future. His response? I can't vouch for their actual work, but I will say I've never encountered such shady people in a business. My first encounter came a few months ago. A door-salesman came by and offered a free inspection of the roof/estimate for roof repair. I figured, why not? So gave him my info and scheduled a time. Shortly after their head office called to schedule a time. Apparently they don't trust their doorman to keep times. Anyway, I missed the call, so I tried to call back. No answer. Tried about 3 different times. Still no answer. Note to self-- this company avoids picking up their phone, that's trouble if I ever have a problem with their work. A short while later, an agent shoes up on my doorstep with his own phone. "My manager wants to talk to you." Okay, that's a bit overhanded... I say yes, I wasn't lying when I told the doorman when I'd be available. Then the manager starts asking, "Okay. And what is your wife's name? Are you married? What hours is she home?" Total creep. I told him that was none of his business, and I was no longer interested in doing work with his company. He got angry and started protesting, I had to hang up on him. I went and took note of his company so I wouldn't work with them again. Fast forward a few months. Another salesman comes to my door, offering a roof inspection. Sure, why not. After he leaves, I check and see, yes, it's that same shady company as before. Well, I've committed to that salesman, so if he comes by, I'll take him, but I don't have to talk to that shady manager again. Well, the manager office proceeds to start calling me literally 6 times a day for the next couple days. I don't pick up. You think they'd catch a hint. Oh well, the day I schedule for comes and goes, and they don't show up. And they keep calling. So finally I answer and explain, "Thanks for your time, but I've decided not to work with your company. I've had bad experiences in the past, and don't wish to continue." Well, once more the manager gets angry and starts telling me why I need to go with his company, and I have to hang up on him again. Next day, the company has the nerve to call back AGAIN and demand I schedule an appointment with them. So I have to hang up again. This is a scam. They told me I had an attic full of mold and high pressured for a $40,000 new roof telling us ours was over 25 years old. We had an inspector come out and test. so a sales person knocked on our door ignoring the no solicitation sign and set up an appointment to come give a bid. before the sales person got here to give us a quote we checked out the yelp reviews and were very concerned. we addressed our concerns about the reviews and the salesman started going off on how there were only for no solicitation issues. I read the reviews and they were not all about that one subject. he went on to say that the people who have no solicitation signs are lazy people who need someone to knock on their door. so i looked at my roommate and asked, "did he just call us lazy?" i was shocked. so that ended our conversation. as we were walking a way he just had to be rude and said, " some people just cant afford it." This company did a decent job with our roof but the salesmen ( 2 ) were very pushy and one of them actually gave a whoop when we agreed to use them. The guy who came out to inspect the work after the roof was finished was nice and called the main office to ask for the entire total of our bill, so we could write him the check, which we did. Two days later, the company calls us and says that the final total was wrong and that we owed more. We sent them the check but asked that we receive a receipt for the final total. Two months later and also 3 phone calls later, we still have not received anything from them. This company does not bother to answer their phones or return phone calls and it seems they could care less about their customers. All we are asking for is a receipt for the money we paid them but they cannot be bothered to even do that. read more

We just had our roof replaced by High Performance Homes and the quality was exactly what was promised. They scheduled and completed the project in 2 days, the site was cleaned daily and at the end the installer walked us through the work that they completed. The sales personnel were professional, knowledgeable and answered all our questions. I checked out their references and talked with neighbors who had the same work completed and all said the work was excellent and the service was great. We are already having them quote replacing our siding and a couple of windows. Thank you John and John for making this such a great experience! read more

If you're contemplating using them... DO NOT!!!! Buyer beware. Very long story that still has no ending, going on two years now and still waiting final resolution. Contracted with them to install some siding and do some stone work on the front of our house, simple enough, right? Well here we are almost 2 years later and work still isn't completed and I haven't heard from the company since. 1) Took almost 9 months to finally get the work started. Zero customer service during this time. Failed to return calls, missed appointments, and failed to follow through on design promises. 2) Stone work was completed by an amateur and had to be completely redone. 3) Stone work has yet to be completed. Stone is 6 inches higher on one side of the house. 4) Siding nail holes were never filled, sealed and painted. 5) Front lawn and flower beds were completely destroyed and not repaired. 6) Construction debris was never cleaned up - still finding crap all over The owner and his wife have been out and promised to ensure that we were 100% satisfied and to keep in touch as they schedule and repair their original work. Haven't heard from either one since they had to subcontract the stone repair work. At this point the only way I'd be satisfied is a 100% refund. read more

We live in a neighborhood with clearly marked signs which say No Soliciting. They have been told by numerous neighbors that they can't be here and yet they come back and make their rounds several times a year. They also behave very suspiciously in that they offer to give a free quote on a new roof but then start insisting that their company policy is to only do it when both spouses are home. If they refuse to even obey the No Soliciting signs I'm certainly not about to tell them when we're all home and when certain people are alone. Stay far away. Is there a zero? PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE HIRING THEM These guys hard sold me. I went with the higher price because I believed I would have better quality. Then I went through the worst two months of my life with damage done, them correcting and making worse....and long story short,,,my garage would have looked better if they never tried to fix it. Their owner avoided me like the plague. Every thing they corrected it seems there was mass communication and the workers were making it worse. from the beginning... I was not told when they were coming...they just arrived. I was not told when they were done...they just left. Then I had a woman knocking on my door to ask me to sign a document of completion.. At that time I toured the property with her showing her all the problems. I will spare you all the details but they charged me an extra over $200 for a 1' x 6" x 22' that was rotted half way through. They did replaced it...but it was in two pieces with a seam. $220!!! for a 1x6x22? (They did take that off the bill in the end) They also charged me almost $700 for extra plywood that they did not use. The higher ups came in and could not find anywhere that these sheets were used...yes, they subtracted it. My garage roof they put all the plywood in the wrong way which created a sag. When they "fixed it" they made two unsightly seams and it would have been better if they never touched it. There was some talk that the structure was at fault and we were open to that...but they insisted the repair would "fix" it...not make it worse. We told them we were willing to repair the structure but they insisted that was not the cause. It looks like garbage now...my garage roof. (is there a way to post pictures here?) After...they blamed it on the structure. But also would not repair the horrible seam they made in two stripes to "repair" the plywood being put in wrong. They sold me a ridge vent which was not done. When the company man came out and looked, he said the way my roof was built would not allow a ridge vent. but this was part of the hard sale and by then I had signed a contract. (I think I paid for that) On top of that, they did not put in a correct number of vents for the roof. They did correct this. because we pointed it out. I had two skylights replaced....one was put in perfectly. The other one they cut in to my drywall so bad that I would have had to hire some one to come in and repair. They claimed no responsibility for that. After much dickering they did send in someone to put trim up to cover the damage. But he only did one (I bought the trim for both skylights) When called out they said he would absolutely come back and do the other one. I measured the trim left and it was 3/4 inches short to be done correctly since he was not conserving to do do both.. I went to home depot and got slammed in the parking lot by a truck backing out. My car was in the shop for ten days. THEN...the worker cut the pieces wrong and ended up caulking in the mistake anyway....argh The trip to home depot ended up being a huge cost to me and a waste of time since he did not know how to miter and if we wanted to fudge it in...we could have. but we did not, I did not see the "fudge" until I signed them off (finally in their eyes). When you contract with them they demand a google review but they told me it was ok if I did not review them. lol If you want to call me my number is 503-347-8990 I did not include everything. Price for value: 4/5 Cold call/door-to-door: 3/5 Sales/contract agreement experience: 5/5 Construction/execution quality: 4/5 Full-disclosure: In a past life I worked on high-end custom-built homes specializing in finish work, so have high expectations. They did an awesome job given the time crunch they had (about 3 days for 17 windows - full-time for me would have been 6-7 days). Communication was fantastic: frequent and honest. However, the speed in which they operated did have trade-offs: Caulking was sub-par. HQ coordination was lacking (they had a trailer break down causing poor planning between teams and tool availability) Cleanup was amazing. They were allotted four days, but only really used three due to aforementioned trailer problems, and were pressured to "wrap my house up" and go to another job on the last day. Demonstrates quantity over quality. Cost/window was more than I wanted, but I was willing to pay the premium so I didn't have to do the work myself. I would likely use them again, but proceed with caution on getting the time I was told I would to ensure higher-quality finish work. The initial cold call did ignore my no soliciting sign, but I am fairly okay with that due to the outcome. read more

When I did not respond he got out of his car. I did not care for his demeanor and asked him to leave my property. I hope never to see HPH in my neighborhood again. It would be in your best interest to AVOID High Performance Homes (HPH) at all costs. This company uses high-pressure predatory marketing tactics to obtain their jobs. If they were as good as they say, they would be so busy, there would be no need to go door-to-door. Just to prove my point, I called a more reputable roofing company (unfortunately after we had signed the contract with HPH) and they said they were booked out a year in advance! Secondly, HPH communication is very poor once you have signed the contract. You will need to constantly track them down as they don't seem to understand the meaning of customer service. Thirdly, they did not do the work themselves (as promised by the salesman), but instead they hired subcontractors who only brought 2 workers to do the entire roof replacement. And the worst part of it all is HPH represent themselves as a company providing a premium product (and they charge a premium price to go with it!), but you don't receive premium service or end product. I estimate we overpaid by about $4000 on this project if we had been smart and not caved in to HPH's marketing tactics (our fault). Overall the roof is "OK" from what I can see, but there are sections of our shingles that buckle up slightly in the heat when they expand. This is caused by improper installation as any experienced roofer knows to leave a very slight gap (what the manufacture calls "loosely butted") between the shingles if they are installed cold. The buckling is occurring on the shingles that were installed on the rainy day, and when the sun comes out they expand and lift up slightly. Please save yourself the hassle and disappointment. . . if this company comes to your door just tell them NO! read more

HIGH PERFORMANCE HOMES Vancouver WA This review would be a zero if that option was available. Signed contract on 2/1/2016. Nothing but problems! Dishonest deceitful salesman. Drip edge at sales meeting not used (can see sky through the gutters from inside the house & they now drip from the backside). Refused to provide a detailed invoice after several requests ( their software can't produce such a spreadsheet). Delivered twice the roofing materials required + $$$'s of materials not needed for our job (valley product, there are zero valleys). Large portion of unused over delivered shingles "disappeared" from what was left over after roofing. Expensive large amounts of unused materials thrown in the dumpster. No daily cleanup (in contract) continuous feed nails, shingle scraps left in gutters as well as the patio, extremely bad (several days unable to even use our patio)/driveway/side of house parking areas nails even after they were "done". Constant contact problems! They don't respond at all for sometimes weeks on end. Say they will contact Monday but don't respond for 1-2 weeks. Owner claimed he never reads emails as he gets so many (he recently turned off his voicemail with a message saying so!) Changed contact phone numbers twice with no notice, admitted we signed an old contract in April). Abandoned the job on the one beautiful weather day to complete the back side to prevent 4 days of water damage when news weather stated for days before forecast was rain storm/50mph winds, half a$$ed tarp with 4 nails that blew completely off. Did not acquire required code permits (we called code enforcement ourselves thinking they did something wrong due to no contact for weeks) so the reroof had to be torn out for inspection to pass, then completely shoddy repair with WRONG color hip&ridge & ripped/cracked shingles/uninstalled 2x4 brace in one area of trusses repair under plywood (gives if stepped on now) & nails on top of "repairs". Dented the gutter real bad & tried to pass off a gutter subcontractor when we clearly discussed "no subcontractors with owner Cameron Root ". (+ the gutter guys didn't speak English & we could not determine if they were licensed & bonded). Took a WA L&I with copies of texts, photos, videos complaint to hear from them at all after weeks of no contact. Employee retention seemed to affect completion of our small reroof, the first 3 no longer work there. Straight 25 square roof finally completed to code after 7 months. It is month 8, current ongoing BBB complaint. Owner Cameron Root affirmed meeting this last week for today, today received text early this morning he won't be here, needs to reschedule now. My neighbor had HPH do his roof and so I called them for an estimate as I liked the work that they had done. Being summer, and wanting more than one estimate, I had called numerous companies and the only one that returned my call was HPH. They came out to inspect my roof and give an estimate. Mind you, this is a home built in 1913 and the roof was over 50 years old and had 3 layers of "reroofing" on top of the original cedar roof so this was not an easy job. If I had pictures of the roof before you would be able to see how much work went into this job but I avoided ever showing it in pictures as it was an embarrassment, so much water damage. Needless to say, I am so happy with the workmanship and their concern regarding how the job was progressing before and after completion that I would recommend this company to anyone that needs a new roof. I still feel that if I had any issues or concerns that I could call them and they would be here in an instant as they are proud of their company and want happy customers. Ginny read more

But, I didn't mind these guys coming by bc I actually do need a bid on my roof as I just bought a 20+ yr home and it needs work. He refused to let me schedule bid time without my husband present - something about it being company policy. Company policy, really?! Guess what, I went through the process of buying this house on my own, and hve gotten other contractor bids without my husband present, I think I can get a roof bid on my own too. Strike one. But, maybe I can overlook it, as I said, I do need roof work. I set up a bid for a time we'd both be home. He said his boss would call to verify the time and confirm on Saturday for our Monday evening bid (bc that's when we will both be home) plus that gives me "time to talk to (my) husband." I was nice enough, asked for a business card and really was looking forward to getting the bid scheduled. He calls me 15 mins later. I let it ring and go to voicemail bc, again, it's been a long day and I'm ready to relax. Strike two... But i figured, I'd call back later to confirm. Here's the kicker: The guy shows up on my door step yet again a half an hour later with his boss on the phone ready to talk to me in that very moment to confirm our appointment. For real? Leave me alone. Strike 3! I'm too pregnant for this and he got my big dogs all riled up yet again- and I know he noticed the first time he came to the door. I can appreciate your commitment to getting the bid scheduled- we own a tree care company and do bids often for work - but know when you're crossing the line. That crossed the line for me. I told him it was not the time or place and that his supervisor can call me later at a more appropriate time or not call me again... We'll see what happens. read more

ok, so this really isn't a review as they have not done any work as of yet, However A man showed up @ my door and asked if I was interested in getting some work done, roof, windows etc, I said well I just got my roof done a year ago, and I am very interested in getting some new windows, but we really didn't have the money right now as we had a leak in our kitchen and we had to dish out money for the deductible etc. He then said well you can get an estimate and it'll be good for 1 year, and I thought sure why not 1 year is plenty of time to save up etc. if it was reasonable. So the Window guy showed up the next night and started his sales pitch and showed us all these awesome samples etc, and in my head I was already ready to turn him down as I thought there is no way to afford this right now, and Bam he gave us a great price and a financing option and we are now getting some new windows and a sliding glass door. I'm very excited and I think if anything you should at least hear them out. I'll write another review once the work is complete! read more

Very nice sales person came to my door to talk about windows, roofing, and siding estimates. We had recently moved, so I was interested in getting some estimates. After tentatively scheduling an estimate appointment and getting a call from the scheduling department, someone came back to my door twice and I received two more calls: one that went to voicemail, the second one I answered and they hung up. Is this a joke? I feel as though I am being harassed. I cancelled the tentative appointment, most likely will not contact them and am looking into getting a no solicitation sign for my front door. What a truly pathetic excuse for a business! Do you want to know why there are so many issues with home improvement companies? Because issues develop and happen-the key is to avoid any issues in the beginning. We had 2 folks from this company over today to compare 3 other estimates we have. Aside from wanting money WITHOUT breaking down what the job involved on the estimator sheet (telling me that the full breakdown will be given when we go to contract), I explained to this this bozo, Andy, that there's no way he was getting money WITHOUT our knowing what is involved. So then ,he writes: 'includes gutters". We also had a $1500 discount offered by the 'door knocker' lady (and when I questioned her about this $1500, she said it would come off AFTER the finished estimate) and of course, Andy, said that the discount was already applied. Andy then asked me if we were planning on giving him money today and when I said 'absolutely not', he said 'ok..we're leaving!' I said 'Go!' When I told them they could leave as we will not be doing business with such shady practices, Andy, in his infinite wisdom, attempted to berate us in that we were having issues with financing (apparently my g.f mentioned this!).
