I came here to have the thermostat changed for my sons 2005 Honda Civic and really felt like I was taken advantage of. They charged me $193.00 dollars for the new thermostat with labor. A big ripoff. When I got the car back, I brought it down to my mechanic Chris to have a new radiator installed. He checked the repair work that was done by Shell gas station and he told me that the mechanic didn't install a new gasket with the thermostat. This is really basic stuff. My mechanic charges $50.00 dollars for the same repair. I was in a hurry and never should have come here. I read some of the other reviews and they seem to have no credibility. This review is for the Shell gas station only. While I have been here before during midday hours and had no issues, I was disappointed recently when I came here at night. On their own website they clearly show "Open 24 Hours" but they are not. I navigated here when my vehicle was dangerously low on gas (on empty), specifically because multiple sources cite their website saying they are 24/7. Worse, their gas pumps appear ready and there is no sign or indication on the screen to suggest otherwise. The worst part is, it even accepted both my debit card (which it authorized and approved, which puts a hold on some funds temporarily) AND Stop & Shop points (which are now marked as used and cannot be undone), even let me select a fuel type...but when I pulled back the pump trigger it did not fill a drop of gas. It was not a pump malfunction. It really led me through the whole process only to waste my time, hold my funds, and spend my points. Cherry on top was I requested a receipt and of course it would not print. read more

Our front brakes failed while we were passing through Stamford on our honey moon. Steve, the mechanic kept the shop open 3 hours past normal closing time to get us back on the road. ANGELS!! I was driving from Queens, NY to Massachusetts when all of a sudden my Tiguan starts acting up. it's 8:45 on a Monday night, no where is going to be open! In a panic I get off the Merrit and pray I will pass a shop. LUCKILY I pass by High Ridge Shell and see that the shop is open. the jolly crew were all hanging out, working on their own cars/cleaning up as they were about to close up. However, the lovely STEPHEN saw the look on my face, told me to hop in the passenger seat and he took us around the block to see what was going on for himself. He knows something is wrong so he has the guys put it up on the lift & take the wheel off to see what was going on. I brought my car in a while ago for an oil change and was given a fair price but that's where the positives end! My car was returned to me dirty on the inside. I found grease on the floor below the drivers seat, and the mechanic didn't even bother to clean it up. This mess was not there when I pulled in. The customer service at this station is a problem! There is also no place for the customers to sit down, I had to walk down High Ridge Rd. to find a place to sit. Never again! read more
