This neighborhood deli/ bar is fantastic. You can sit at the bar. You can grab a table or booth. You can sit outside on their open air patio which absolutely perfect when it's not a sweltering day. And we can say that with confidence and experience bc we have done it all and THEN some. Their Happy Hour is the happiest in the Oh Four. Sitting at the bar, watching vintage videos or chatting up the bartenders. Why? Because they're actually engaging and may I say charming? But in an unobtrusive manner. AND it's consistently good. Why? Because they make so much of their menu in-house. And don't get me started on the video games room. Or those FRIKKIN CHEESE FRIES! This was a really cute local spot that we decided to try on a random Thursday. Stumbled upon an amazing happy hour with great cheap, but well made drinks and good food. Italian sandwich was amaaazing, there was a roasted tomato on it that absolutely made the whole thing. Delish. Pork belly sandwich was pretty good, needed acid, maybe go heavier on the lemon basil mayo or dress the lettuce? Visited High Road DelicaTexan with a friend for lunch on a busy Sunday afternoon. (Had to try it because of the name alone). We enjoyed the eclectic atmosphere and tasty bites. There are only about five parking spots available in the front so we found street parking in the neighborhood. It is still chilly in Austin so although we were tempted to sit in the fairly large outdoor area, we grabbed a table in the main dining room and headed to the counter to order our food. (There's also a few tables in the game room). Once we ordered, a friendly employee gave us a number to add to our table. Our food came out in ~15 minutes. I ordered the shaved roast beef sandwich and my friend tried the blue ribbon burger. We also split an order of cheesy fries after seeing that it is topped with a miso cheese sauce and housemade chili crunch! The roast beef sandwich was a little spicy due to the giardiniera, but I liked it and my friend enjoyed her smash burger. We thought they both had a good amount of both meat and toppings and were cooked well. We didn't get a strong miso flavor from the fries, however the housemade chili crunch and cheese sauce had good flavor. We liked this casual spot in Bouldin Creek and think it's a great weekend brunch or lunch spot. They also sell packs of their housemade sausages, sauces, and other accoutrements in a refrigerator by the front door. Stopped by for lunch and it was a solid but not mind blowing experience. I ordered the warm oven roasted turkey sandwich. Flavor wise it was pretty good, but portion wise it felt a little small for me personally. They are not stingy with the turkey though, and the vinegar chips added a really nice crunch that helped carry the sandwich. Outside of the crunchy chips and some melted provolone, nothing else really stood out. It was good, just kind of straightforward and forgettable. Not bad at all, just not something I would crave later. One thing I really liked was the draft beer selection from local Austin breweries. I got the Meanwhile Pils and it was great. It was nice being able to grab that without driving all the way out to the brewery, especially since it is pretty far from downtown. You order at the counter and then grab a seat. There is a lot of indoor and outdoor seating which is great, plus they even have an arcade inside which makes it a fun place to hang out longer than just a quick lunch. read more

Loved this place and can't wait to go back!! Came for lunch on a rainy Saturday and there was plenty of seating. We ate at the bar and took in all the decor they have. This deli is absolutely awesome! The food was creative and tasty. We had the warm oven roasted turkey (topped with sea salt chips in the sandwich to add crunch, nice!) and the Italian, both were great. As we were the waiting for our food, I saw their burger come out several times. I had major fomo. The staff is so friendly and excellent. I felt like I was hanging out with the cool kids. I can't say enough about the ambience, we grew up in the 80s and it transported me back in time. I can't wait to come back with my kids. I'm also looking forward to the burger. I tried High Road Delica Texan (awesome name) for the first time yesterday and am excited to go back. The wait was an hour long for food, but luckily they have great indoor and outdoor seating and you order at a counter so we were able to place our food order, grab a drink, and enjoy the ambiance while we waited for our meal. I initially ordered the dill pickle martini, and I must say I did not like it one bit. It was covered with olive oil and dill, hardly a martini, and I would not recommend it. The gin-miso bees knees though was delicious. I look forward to trying a different sandwich next time I go back! read more

As an avid lover of Cavalier, I decided to try their new adventure here. My son-law and I tried last week while on a spin to South Austin. It's a trek from Pflugerville, but we had another mission and were very excited to give this quaint and cozy place a try. It is so laid back and so extremely well decorated. Makes one definitely feel at home. My granddaughter loved the little outside area for kids, there are also a tables that can be enjoyed outside. Mary Street is such a beautiful area. Great tap selection and if you know the Cavalier, you know the cocktails are always on point. Deli sandwiches available, as well as incredible hot dog options, with house made sausages, and even vegan options. House made, boudin, brats, sausages, andouille available in bulk. Salads, sides, deserts, etc. Staff were eager to answer and questions and help. They even have Momo's, a non tomato option for bloody's and michelada's. My all time favorite, again made right here in the ATX. Game machines in another small room, my granddaughter loved that as well. This place is stunning, delicious and well worth a visit, definitely sooner than later, so saddle up and go!!! read more

After visiting this establishment on national hot dog day and waiting for over an hour before reaching the the counter to order the worker tells us they ran out of hot dogs. No announcement to anyone in the line and the 30 other people behind me. We would've just left at that point or they could've told us way ahead of time. Got the shaved roast beef and a side of potato salad, the shaved roast beef was very delicious with a robust amount of flavor. I will say it did look different from the photos to me. It seemed like it was more of a poor roast beef rather than sliced or shaved. I'm assuming they probably did that so it can keep moisture as it was very juicy. The bread had a really good taste to it, but I will admit that it was a bit saggy from the bottom, even though I ate it pretty quickly for people who don't like spicy food I would say it does have a pretty good punch to it. The potato salad was well-rounded with lots of herbs and spices and was extremely pleasant. The vibe was great felt like a local diner. Customer service was outstanding, laid-back, and chilled will definitely come and try more off the menu. read more

A new neighborhood restaurant that is comfortable, indoor and outdoor seating, a small but sufficiently varied menu that covers enough bases that you can feel assured that there is something to entice everyone. Plus the food is really good. Now I was by myself so I only had their smash burger and potato salad. Homemade bread and butter pickles. Ummm. I definitely wasn't disappointed. Very tasty. Sigh. The Italian sandwich (soppresstrracc!?) was fine, not in my top ten for Italians in Austin (which is a low bar), BUT EIGHTEEN DOLLARS? It's smaller than homeslice's half by at least 30% and has less meat/cheese. It's stuff like this that is ruining this city. Shameful. Giardinera on the roast beef was not adequately pickled so the peppers (jalapeños) were far too spicy and overpowered the sandwich, which was also undersized for $16. Cheeseburger was the most disappointing at $14 (burned, flavorless). Fries were crispy.... So there's that? Counter service was pretty standoffish. Just one big sigh. Amazing cocktails, full bar, delicious food, and incredibly friendly staff. We ordered the Dilly Dilly Swag Martini, Miso Ginger Bee's Knees, and a Black Manhattan--each one excellent. Breakfast is served until 11, followed by the full menu. The Warm Oven Roasted Turkey included a layer of potato chips for an added crunch, the Jersey Cure breakfast sandwich was outstanding, and the Cheesy Fries were a highlight--crispy, cheesy, and perfectly finished with chili crisp. Next time I'm planing on trying the "bowl of hashbrowns" with crème fraiche and caviar paired with the dilly martini. Definitely coming back. read more
