We came here to redeem the vouchers we won during the F1 event the Sunday before (it was also Sunday and also a race day again). It was pretty warm outside and I asked if we could watch the race inside. At first, I was told they can't play anything but football on the inside TVs, which was completely understandable and I was not going to ask for again nor be upset about. But the bartender was kind enough to put it on anyway. Please don't get him in trouble for it, he got you a new regular!!!! Anyway, we got burgers, fries and a couple of drinks. Everything was great! I loved my Paloma, it was made with mezcal and was so good with right amount of fruit and smokiness. Burger was very good too: flavorful, juicy, and pretty hearty. Definitely will be back! It was my second visit here and I'm confidently adding this place to my favorite bars :D

Cute photo opportunity on the building!

Fast service! Super cute set up. And delicious! Parking can be a nightmare in this area, but we got lucky today. This is a bar, but we only got food. The environment and staff was super welcoming, and I'll def be back.

The Cavalier is a fun bar in East Austin that was heavily Halloween decorated this past weekend. We went to check it out as part of the mini golf fundraising event for Healing With Horses Ranch. I think they won the best hole of the event too! We attempted to putt putt, donated via the QR code on the cute donkey, and tried the Things That Go Bump in the Night cocktail along with the fried artichokes which we liked. The Halloween decorations were a nice touch. They also had screens playing the UT Austin game and thankfully UT pulled it out in the end. Hook 'Em! If I'm in the area again, I would definitely go have another drink and some food at this bar!

Came back to redeem our won gift vouchers from last week. The bar tender was nice enough to put on our desired tv program. The burgers and tots here were pretty good. Still enjoy this bar the 2nd week around.

Cute spot- unique like Austin. Good food! Try the tallow fries- bit salty : great for drinks! The hot yolk was really great! The chicken wings were a hit! Great atmosphere inside.... And we were there for a late lunch! Have fun!

The service was great. This was a special menu for Mardi Gras and I was expecting more from the shrimp po boy and beignets. Other than that, the bar is great! Can't wait to go back and try their actual menu

I did this bar/restaurant in my neighborhood. The comfort food menu has something for everyone. Outdoor seating and frozen drinks, can't be beat! Friendly service.

This was our first stop on St Patrick's Day. We came in at noon to have a couple beers and some food. It was pretty busy but the bartenders were quick to get thru the line. We grabbed our beers and placed our order for Fish and Chips. Food came out quickly and the fish was great. Fried perfectly and not greasy at all..it came with a side of fries. Gene the bartender was really friendly the whole time we were there and made sure we had beers in our hands..we have also been here for Brunch and the food was great also..this place is a great spot to just come in and chill out..have some great food and a couple drinks. Always a pleasant experience here.

Best Old Fashioned I've had in months. Fantastically skilled, thoughtful bartenders and a totally chill atmosphere that invites you to hang out and stay awhile. I'm especially grateful that they option to screen Jurassic Park instead of the presidential election results... Still probably drank to much, but more out of joy than stress and terror.

I honestly can't believe I've never written a review here! We frequent The Cavalier weekly sometimes multiple times a week. Their food, service and drinks are always consistent and they have daily happy hour and BOGO burgers on Mondays. They're currently having a Krampus themed pop up bar right now with really unique drinks. This neighborhood gem is one of a kind and we can't rave enough about how much we love it.

Who Dat, this dat. Cajun inspired, Saints loving local eatery and bar. It's an absolute must. Brunch is out of this world. It's hard to say what my favorite brunch item is, but there are two always in the running. Biscuits and gravy is always the dish that pops out at me. But the biscuits with andouille sausage are an are to die for. Andouille sausage makes this dish so tasty and savory. If you have never had andouille sausage you better give this a whirl. And then there is shrimp and grits, definitely some of the best I have ever had, coming in at a close first to anything I have had in NOLA. They always have specials and once I had debris and grits. I thought I had gone to heaven. I can honestly say, there is not a bad meal on the menu. The deviled eggs are an absolute must. I love their Bloody Mary's and the beer selection handles all desires. Can I also mention the King Cakes that are available until Fat Tuesday, scrumptious delight. My son swears they are better than Gambino's. The servers and bartenders are always so friendly and eager to please. The service is on point. Sweet patio space if you choose to be outside and inside reminds you that you are part of the "Who Dat Nation." Crawfish boils are about to begin and they are great. Everyone is welcome here. Treat yourself to a great experience and give the Cavalier a try. You will never be disappointed I promise! And ps, 4 legged friends are always welcome!

Food: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 The Swenson Burger was pretty solid, but the star of the show was the Caribbean Spiced Fries. We went for lunch around 11:30 a.m. We ordered and got our drinks quickly, but the food took about 40 minutes to come out. It was a nice neighborhood bar. They have special events happening daily, so that is pretty neat. They also have an area with a pool table and darts.

The vibe is effortlessly retro, with warm lighting, vintage stripes, cozy booths, and a playlist full of R&B and soul that sets the tone for a laid-back night. I came in for happy hour (which goes until 8pm--major win) and had the Tropical Depression, a passion fruit hurricane-style cocktail that was way better than its name implies. Their frozen drinks are also a hit--flavorful, strong, and dangerously easy to sip. They also do Jell‑O shots if you're feeling nostalgic (or just want something cheap and fun). The bar is small but super welcoming, with a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating. The patio is shaded and breezy, perfect for summer nights. There's even a pool table and a big screen outside if you're into low-key games or catching part of the game. Staff was friendly and efficient--shout out to the bartenders who kept the drinks flowing without any attitude. That said, it's a small space, so depending on the night, it can feel either perfectly mellow or a little too quiet. Not a party bar, but a great pre-game or chill hangout spot. If you're looking for a low-key lounge with strong drinks, good tunes, and an easygoing crowd, Low Down Lounge should definitely be on your East Side rotation.

You walk in and immediately know you are not in some polished Instagram cocktail lounge. It is loud, a little gritty, and full of people who are clearly there to have a good time and not pretend otherwise. The beer is cold, the Lone Star flows like Texas water, and the vibe is pure old school Austin. And yes, the legendary bathroom situation deserves its own paragraph. The men's room features a giant ice filled trough for a urinal, which feels like something out of a 1970s roadside saloon documentary. Somehow it is both ridiculous and perfectly on brand. It actually becomes a conversation starter because you walk out laughing and immediately tell your friends they have to see it and go pee. The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there.
