Pudding River Jazz band was playing tonight - a once per month thing. We went just to hear them and enjoy a steak. They were out of 7oz filet mignon so we had the 8oz pub steak (sirloin) which were cooked to perfection. The night manager apparently is unaware of how to turn on captions on the football game so kept closing the door to block the sound for the rest of the "regular" Thursday night patrons. The band packed up and left as a result pretty much eliminating our reason for coming. We won't be back. Our waitress,however, was apologetic and attentive. This place was an unexpected surprise walking distance from our hotel. The food was excellent! I had the 8oz Prime Rib special and it was prepared perfectly. My husband had a pepperoni pizza that he raved about, it certainly did look good. The service was great, price was great and my Old Fashioned was probably the best I've ever had. This is such a great local place that we often forget about. We're making an effort to stop in here more regularly. We came in hoping for pork chops but unfortunately came in on a night that they were sold out! We went with sandwiches and a burger instead and we weren't disappointed with any of them. The beef in the French dip was so good! The blt and cheese burger were also really great. We had the friendliest server chat with us for a few minutes and reminisced about the place for our teenager years. We were told there are new owners now, just recently acquired. As long as the food is always good we'll keep coming back. read more

I'm surprised I never knew this place was here. It's just down the hill from the Gladstone Harley dealership. I happened to attend a meeting that was being held at this saloon. The staff was very gracious. They had a very large meeting room that could be closed off. One waitress handled everyone at the meeting and also pretty much everyone else who was dining there. Sunday at lunch time and not very crowded. Very cheerful and efficient. Very hard worker. Bikers are notoriously big tippers so she probably went home happy. Food was fine. I had the 2x4 breakfast which they serve until mid afternoon. Filling, tasty and reasonably priced. Very good value especially now when restaurant prices are getting insane. Lots of parking. It's not a biker bar per se although there were a LOT of Harleys lined up along the fence. I'm over this way often so I'm sure I will be back. read more

To start, the place seems like it's set back and shady...BUT! Never judge a joint by its hidey-hole status! It has a nice layout, a good group of regulars who seemed quite welcoming to an out of towner like me. It does have the poker machines and a nice horseshoe bar, and Jenn is a spot on perfect bartender. Attentive, friendly, and amazingly ran the entire front of house, banquet room, and poker machine clientele by herself, which is kinda epic considering it was pretty busy! I had the chef salad, (very nice) and fish and chips, which was flaky and real fat onion rings. NICE STEAK JOINT! Definitely will come back for more. read more

We had a family gathering with 30 attendees here last night in their banquet room and their staff rocked it! This is a locals restaurant that has plenty of character, but the food and the drinks were really good. And the smell of the grilled meat when you walk into the restaurant is intoxicating. I worked with Linda in the days before to set up the buffet menu and room set up. She was helpful, responsive, and accommodating. Nicole did most of the service at our event. She worked her tail off providing exemplary service. The prime rib was cooked to the right temperature. The shrimp cocktail was fresh. The Caesar salad and other sides were just as expected. I highly recommend High Rocks for a group event. Next time I'm in town, I'll stop just to try their ribeye! read more

I've only been here a few times and each time the bartender/server was great but did not have much help. Today She got pretty busy, and the worker who finally stepped in was not very kind. Bad mouthing coworkers is not a good look. Considering she was running her butt off every time I've been there, this place should feel grateful to have her. Give that girl a raise. read more

If I could add more stars than 5 I would. Great food, wonderful service. This place had such a chill feeling. The staff really knows how to make you feel as if they are a good friend you've known for years. My co-worker and I stopped in for our lunch hour. They had us in & out with perfect timing. No complaints!!!! Can't wait to go back for happy hour. The chicken on my salad was so good, juicy & crispy- wasn't rubbery like a lot of restaurants are. The nacho was hands down the biggest (best tasting) thing Ive ever seen- absolutely meant to share. Ordered prime rib 12oz to share with my husband, very disappointed. More than half of the prime rib was fat. It was semi warm and not much flavor. The atmosphere at high rocks is good but this is the 4th time I have ate here. The only thing I like is the club sandwich. Very disappointed in the food at high rocks. I would think the owners would expect their cooks to know how to trim the fat. Granted most prime ribs have some fat... but not 3/4 of the steak. Not to mention our server was not as attentive as I was hoping. She wasn't bad but not great either. Very disappointed. I don't know if I'll come back again. I was assaulted at high rocks from behind (body checked) by one of the wait staff. Two witnesses, both staff members, corroborate that I was intentionally struck from behind, and both agree I was hit hard enough that I had to take a step forward to regain my balance. The owner claims because I only took one step forward, it wasn't as bad as I made it out to be. Sorry man, but any amount of hostile physical contact is unacceptable to me. When I asked them to review the cameras, the owner told me the internal cameras do not work. The waiter's punishment was a scolding and he was told not to assault people again. I just ate at High Rocks after a few years' absence and ordered my favorite, the Rueben, but what I received was a flimsy, tough, burnt sandwich. The salad was great, the Irish coffee was good, but I wouldn't walk across the street for the sandwich. In bygone years the sandwich would have been on par with Rose's. When the waiter asked if I wanted to take the 3/4 of leftover sandwich home in a box, I just said "you've got to be kidding..." I was told they recently changed management which often means things improve or go completely on the cheap side. 'Nuff said. read more

I usually like this place but tonight I got the worst service I have ever had here. First our waitress told us she couldn't separate our bills because we didn't tell her we needed them separate even though we explained that to the bar tender when we ordered our first drinks. And even if we didn't tell them, we have never had a problem with them separating our bills at the end so not sure why that was a problem. She eventually figured it out but kept telling us that next time we need ti tell her before she puts anything in. When we would try to ask a question or order another drink she would tell us "you'll have to wait I have another table" it felt like they were more important than our table. My daughter was throwing little paper footballs at our friend and she told her she couldn't do that, it's never been a problem before with any other waiter/waitress and we always pick them up before we leave. I felt they way she talked to her was very rude. No one was sitting by us so it's not like we were bothering anyone. My husband didn't get his food and when he said something to her she said "oh it's in the window I wish you would have said something earlier" she made every mistake seem like it was our fault and like we were a problem. There was also a nice long hair in my steak bites. My friend called after we left to explain why we didn't tip and the lady he talked to told him she was "too busy for this" took his name and phone number then hung up on him. It wasn't even busy there were a few people in the bar and 1 small table in the dining area. I have been here with my family many times and never been treated this way in the past, it's very upsetting. We recently showed our friends this place and we were hoping it could be our new weekly meet up spot but our friends told us they won't be coming back. read more

We ate there on Sunday for my daughter's birthday. We had made reservations for a party of 6 with a baby (no food required) and a toddler. When the waitress came over to take our drink orders, I knew it would take a while for her to get back for our food orders, and also I wanted prime rib and she said they were almost out it and what they had left was medium well done - this at 5:30 pm! So I asked her to put in my dinner order for prime rib right away, and my daughter also asked her to put in an order of macaroni & cheese for my granddaughter. 20-30 minutes later I got my salad (no mac&cheese), and she took the dinner orders for the feast of the table. Another 15 minutes later my dinner came out and we asked about the mac&cheese. She was quick with the excuse about getting another large table in and the cook was very busy. Folks for the other table arrived WELL AFTER we put in the order for the mac&cheese!. I'm a slow eater and was almost finished with my way-too-tough and gristly prime rib when all the dinner orders EXCEPT FOR THE MAC&CHEESE came out. Another 10 minutes after that, the mac&cheese FINALLY arrived. For that amount of time, I at least expected to see a homemade mac&cheese. But NO! What came out was CLEARLY mac&cheese from the cheap blue box, placed into a large au-gratin dish and then put into the oven for who-knows-how-long to further dry it out and make the dish scorchingly hot! This scorching dish for putting in front of a TODDLER! My daughter had their filet mignon and she said it was horrible too - some weird seasoning put on it. Half of it went home for one of our party's dogs! Other than out table of 6 and the other table of 6-8, the restaurant was pretty empty except for a table that had already been served. The least the waitress could have done would have been to give my daughter a free birthday dessert ("no, we don't do that"), or more importantly, take off the price for the mac&cheese from our bill! I will NEVER, EVER go there again! NO excuse for taking an hour to prepare a toddler's order of mac&cheese (from the box)! ZERO STARS! read more

All of the staff are anti mask, after our waitress approached us 3 times (and other customers she was helping) with her mask off I told her she needs to be wearing a mask when she approaches customers. she got instantly angry and stormed off, our food was brought to us by someone wearing a mask properly but then after that we had a different waitress who was wearing a mesh mask. I feel me and my friend have been violated by the staff here. We should not have to come in contact with maskless strangers, we did not consent to that. read more

New owners at High Rocks in the last few months and the needed updates have us frequenting here. Great sports bar and lotto vibe in the bar area. We have added trivia night to our Tuesday schedule. So fun. On the flip side, on the restaurant side is a very moody, date night vibe with fireplace and fabulous steaks. It's really cool when the chef is grilling steaks in the main restaurant for all to see and more importantly, smell. The new owners seem to be continually improving the menu and so far I haven't ordered anything I didn't enjoy. They have even added a bar and wine menu. I have notice a lot of local area youth and high school family involvement at High Rocks with Gladstone jerseys on the bar walls. Very cool in my opinion to support local and fun to see Thursday and Friday night buzz in the air after sports. I have only been in evening time but so enjoy Mason and Lori behind the bar.
