Unsure if it's the owner or manager, but the lady is charge ruins the entire experience. I listened to her berate one table then talk to another table about things for them to do in Key Largo. Even though she was helping them, she just seemed to be yelling at them. The Great: Key Lime Pie- best found The Good - ... The Bad - Cold Grits on both of our plates The Ugly - The lady in charge My party would like to go back for the Key Lime Pie. I wouldn't give this establishment 1 more penny.

I have found my breakfast spot in High Tide! Their breakfast offerings are extensive! They have daily omelet specials. They various benedikts. They have to-die-for freshly baked, gigantic, muffins. They have corned beef hash. They have country fried steak smothered in gravy. I almost forgot they have pancakes & waffles! You can get a coffee or iced tea refill to take along. I definitely never leave here hungry! Service is attentive, friendly and super efficient. Everyone likes chatting it up, regardless if you are local or just visiting. The restaurant is small inside. I nearly always sit at the counter when I am solo. They have a couple tables outside to accommodate those who smoke or who have dogs. There is plenty of paved parking in front and an additional gravel lot in the back. My highest recommendation for a great breakfast!

I am giving 4 well meant stars. The staff was nice and attentive. The food we had was good and in an acceptable price range. Unfortunately they do not have vegetarian dishes, so we had to go for french fries and a salad. French fries were delicious and the salad gravy was also very tasty. The blue cheese burger was more like okish. Would I come again. If there will be vegetarian dishes in the future, probably yes.

We stopped in on the way to Key West. Place has a nice vibe. Most of the staff were friendly. Our party came to the conclusion that our waitress was new. She wasn't as friendly as the other waitresses who stoped by and made many errors when taking our orders. My husband really enjoyed his lobster sandwich. The couple I was with enjoyed their food, especially the biscuits, but said their grits were cold and lacked flavor. I ordered a medium rare steak and over medium eggs. The steak came out well and eggs scrambled. Try 2 with the eggs were better, but still had runny white. I sent the steak back, and chose not to try it again. We believe our waitress didn't communicate what took place well to the manager (I'm assuming that was who came to our table afterwards). I'm saying that because the manager was aggressive and almost confrontational when she came to the table. She was escalating and seemed like she was ready for a fight when all I was doing was changing my order to two eggs. She was speaking very loudly and I felt like making a scene. It was very uncomfortable. She did take the steak off the ticket and was friendly afterwards. We indulged in the key lime pie, and we've tried many key lime pies, and I would say that it was close to being the best we've had. It was very tart and you knew eating it , that it was homemade. It's unfortunate that the previous hostile interaction left us all wondering what the heck just happened here.

It was cold this morning - Florida cold, not Maine cold but we weren't ready so decided to go out for breakfast. I had seen High Tide a couple of times, and decided to give it a shot. It was soooo good. I know anyone who follows me will be surprised that I ordered the traditional eggs Benedict; and other than a bit too much hollandaise it was perfect - eggs done just right, ham was the right thickness and the English muffin was grilled. The home fries with onions were done perfectly - some of them came home for breakfast tomorrow. Wayne opted for the Chef's Omelette and the hash brown cheese casserole. They were both super decadent as was the grilled biscuit. The Chef's Omelette was full of chorizo, cheese, onion, peppers, mushrooms, kind of a kitchen sink. The casserole was an up charge but well worth it. Coffee was almost medicinal - it was so good and so necessary! Would love to go back and try the Key Lime pie. Our server was quick, awesome. The place felt like eating at home - but we didn't have to do the work....

Came here because of reviews and skillets! My fave breakfast! I was not disappointed with my veggie subbed with cheddar instead of American cheese. Loads of veggies! Husband's fiesta had a lot of chorizo. And you get biscuits on the side. We sat outside in back to avoid traffic noise. Very enjoyable brunch!

Exceptional place. We went after church one Sunday morning and it was already pretty full but we managed to get seating right away. FOOD: Delicious and big portions. I got an omelette with lobster and a hollandaise sauce with roasted potato chunks and onions and it was very delicious. I was impressed by the omelette because it wasn't just sporadic chunks of lobster, no, it was almost evenly distributed. I had lobster in every bite. My husband finished his food while I was halfway through mine. I've never seen him eat his food so fast. He said it was delicious. He had café con leche and although I didn't drink any, it looked so calming and the aroma was deliciously pleasant. I had this biscuits that were soft and fluffy, I've never experience that before. They had 4 different types of jam and I chose one that I've never seen before and that was apple flavored jam. It's safe to say that I got my unrecommended daily dose of sugar. Good stuff. My only complaint is that they don't have freshly squeezed orange juice, only from containers but everything else was so incredible that I'll let it pass. DECOR: It's the Keys so nothing is beautiful indoors only the outdoors lol. My husband said it had a diners vibe but I'm not too sure. It was nice though, nothing tacky, nothing rusted. They had a table outdoors next to a garbage can with a tent over it but that seem like an afterthought that was only done for people with dogs. And when we drove up there was a couple with a dog there. It was kinda isolated so I don't the attention and service would be great there, but if you have a dog and want to get a great meal then that's a great option. SERVICE: Service was good, there's definitely a sense of urgency which is very important to me. CONCLUSION: Definitely go here. Great food and portions were large. You'll leave here very satisfied. My husband that's from Chicago and avoids the sun and heat, really enjoyed the whole experience. He now says that this is his new identity! Thank you High Tide for doing what I couldn't! Lol

Came for brunch. First, I love hashbrowns so anyplace with them gets an immediate nod. I had the Cowboy. Very tasty biscuits and gravy. the bacon was soooo good. They were slammed but still very good service. Several different wait staff checked in. Great little corner spots. Definitely try them out. read more

If you are looking for a fast, delicious, and friendly restaurant that serves amazing sea food, go to High Tide Restaurant. We were on our way out of the keys, stuck in bad traffic, and hungry. We stopped here since the reviews were good. Their homemade blackened seasoning on our shrimp and mahi mahi was super tasty, and make sure you try their savory lobster bisque! Cheeseburger in paradise? IMHO, High Tide makes the BEST BURGER IN THE FLORIDA KEYS. The super fresh produce, sourced from farms in Homestead, is outstanding. The tomatoes are the best I can recall in at any restaurant around... Sorry, Margarittaville, these folks out do you by a mile! I live year-round less than 2 miles away from the High Tide Restaurant. We go there many times each month. It's one of our favorites in Key Largo. The food is a BAMM! WOW, we're all over the Mahi sandwich. The quality and Tony's super cooking abilities create yummy goodness on every plate. The folks that run this place are just great. It's a family operation and they make it feel like you're part of it. After my first visit there was no doubt a 2nd and many more great food and service experiences were on the horizon. Don't forget to take a look at the "Homemade", better than Harrietts, muffins. We consider them dessert. read more

I'm a Yelper/ foodie - and I'm known to my friends as someone who likes to try new restaurants. So, when I vacationed with my friends in Key Largo last weekend, they left dinner up to me one night. Being me, I was thrilled by the honor. :-D After consulting my handy Yelp app and careful research, I chose High Tide for dinner and made us a 7:30 reservation. When we walked in, there weren't many people and it had a bit of a diner-y feel. I was hyped up when I made the reservation, but felt a twinge of nervousness (and a bit of uh oh) when I walked in. I felt a lot of pressure in that I did not want to disappoint my party of 6/ friends. Aaaaaaaaand, good news - I didn't. :) We ordered the mozarella sticks and drunken shrimp appetizers. The drunken shrimp were a HUGE hit at the table and the mozarella sticks were pretty decent too, but not my favorite. Everyone was beyond happy with their dinner - and our waitress Caitlin was excellent and very sweet... and oh so right when she said that you can either get the good view or the good food in Key Largo, but rarely to never do you get both. So at High Tide there's no view - and that's okay. We had a great view at our condo and we enjoyed the outdoors all day. And we got to really enjoy our dinner too. My recommendation to the restaurant is to enhance their wine list - or offer BYOB to patrons. The wine list was not good (there's no sugar coating it) and the only wine named on their wine list and as "top shelf", was Clos du Bois, Yikes! Next time we're in Key Largo, I'd really like to try their breakfast, which is the most popular meal they serve. read more

Wow!!! Came to this restaurant as it was recommended by a friend and we loved it. This place has 10/10 food, seasoned extremely well & super fresh. Hats off to the chefs. Out of the 5 days spent in the keys we visited 3 times and wish we had a few more days for more meals. For brunch we had blueberry pancakes, along with blackened yellow tail & fries. For dinner we tried the tequila lobster(insanely tasty) & another blackened yellow tail (yes, it's that good). Staff are nice and attentive would highly recommend. Can't wait to come back. read more

My family visited twice during our stay in the Keys. We had burgers for lunch the first day, and they were huge and tasty. We came back for breakfast the next morning and tried the breakfast skillets (country skillet and meat lovers skillet). The food was great, but the excellent service really set our experience apart. The servers were friendly and welcoming to our toddler. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in the area. read more

This is a small town local's eatery. Huge portions. Our excellent server was also the welcoming owner. We went for breakfast. I enjoyed my hefty lobster omelette. It had shredded lobster cooked into the egg with Hollandaise sauce. Basic but good. Enough for two people. One of my friends had Crabcakes Eggs Benedict with hash brown casserole and said the crabcake had a lot of breadcrumbs but she liked it. The other friend had a huge cheeseburger she couldn't finish. She loved the house made onion rings. Coffee was good. Ocean decor.Very clean bathrooms. I'd eat here again. read more

I was driving past my usual haunts when I noticed a now open sign, my curiosity got the best of me!! Thank you curiosity, I had the best cup of chili I have ever had, so good I took a bowl with me for dinner ! My only regret on the chili was that I filled myself up before the coconut fried mahi sandwich, most amazing sandwich ever. The coconut mixed with the mango chutney was amazing to say the least. My boyfriend had breakfast here a few times and was raving about the new place. We decided to come for dinner, I was skeptical since this place (the two restaurants that were here before this one) was always known as a breakfast/lunch place. The food was delicious. Service was great. It is a bit pricey for a place not in the water but the food is worth every cent. I just hope they add some decent wine soon to pair with such great meals. So far the selection is poor, some canned wine, a jug and White Claw - good for lunch but such a great dinner deserved a good wine. read more

Stayed in the area for the weekend and stopped by for a quick bite around 4 pm. We were the only ones at first since the close at 5 however another couple quickly came in after us. We started with the Buffalo shrimp and shared the yellowtail key lime fish sandwich. They were nice enough to split the sandwich ahead of time and serve us our own plate with fries. Everything was delicious and we quickly finished our meal. We noticed a small freezer of Mexican paletas on our way out and had to try them, we tried the Guava and key lime of course and have never had paleta so delicious they might be right up there with a key lime pie covered in chocolate on a stick. First place that I ate when I arrived in the Florida Key's! Great choice that I made. Staff was great and friendly and helpful! My waitress was wonderful. Very attentive. Good amount of food was received and it was good! They were not stingy with the Philly omelette or that Meat lover's skillet. Both were great. That hash brown casserole was the star of the show. 100 times better than Cracker Barrel and I like Cracker Barrel's casserole. It was so good that I ordered a piece to go! Please go there! This was a Yelp find on our way back to Miami from Marathon and it proved to be a great final meal in the Keys. It's an unassuming little diner in a strip right on the main road - we were second guessing ourselves on the way up the sidewalk, but once we opened the door and saw how busy it was - we knew we were in the right place! The staff was super friendly and helpful and the service was super speedy. We started with the Crap Dip in a bread bowl - which was absolutely delicious - it was FULL of fresh crab and so flavorful. We tried the fried lobster and grits - expected something more like shrimp and grits, but this was literally a large piece of fried lobster with a side of grits and a large grilled biscuit. Do not sleep on the grilled biscuits - OMG! We also had the High Tide sandwich (fresh mahi, tomatoes and Swiss all put together like a grilled cheese) - so good! Our cousins had the seafood combo - and upgraded the fish to blackened grouper. This was also really good - they actually brought the grouper fried instead of blackened and when we mentioned, the waitress brought us another order of just the blackened grouper, and it was delicious! Some of the best fish we had all week in the Keys. We asked about Key Lime pie, as we had been taste testing all week, and we were blown away by their offering. It was the perfect homemade blend of tart, sweet, creamy and ended up being our favorite overall! Highly recommend this place if you are in the area. As an FYI - they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner! Breakfast options looked great as well - but we were ready for lunch! read more

I remember when they use to have the all you can eat Stone Crab, King Crab or Snow Crab for $75 per person. Those days are long gone but they are still firing on all cylinders. The menu is not enormous but it doesn't have to be as they stick to what they know best, mostly seafood with some burgers and sandwiches mixed in between. Can't go wrong with anything on their menu and they do have a Southern feel as a number of dishes have a little kick to them but do not fear, you can always ask them to leave the spicy seasoning off and you are good to go. On this occasion, I decided to go with their Black Bean Soup and the Grilled Mahi Mahi with Roasted Mushrooms. Both were awesome as expected and I really enjoyed the black bean soup; also, the mushrooms were amazing. Being Cuban you would think hey black beans are black beans but their recipe is bar none awesome. Service here is awesome and very laid back as we are in the Florida Key's . They really make you feel at home and are extremely courteous. Evenings are pretty busy and pretty packed so you may have to wait a bit to be seated but it is well worth the wait. Atmosphere is welcoming and you can hear the Jimmy Buffet tunes playing in the background to round out the Florida Key's feel. Feel like striking up a conversation well no problem, that is the norm and encouraged. Parking should not be a problem either but it can get a little packed in the evenings and on weekends. Overall it was a great experience but honestly I did not expect anything less. So if you are driving by mile marker 98.2 on the Overseas Highway, and are hungry for some good food, well keep your eyes peeled for the sign as you cannot miss it. Not normally ones to drink much on vacation, my wife and I instead opted to live in the moment and enjoy the island life, especially since it was 30 degrees when we left Ohio that morning. As such, we each ordered a rum punch (pictured), while my best friend ordered a Bulliet old fashioned and his wife a house margarita. With drink orders out of the way, Deja, our absolutely delightful waitress, took our food orders: sauteed seafood combo (for my wife), backyard BBQ burger with coleslaw (for me), burger and fries (for my BFF and his wife, who -unlike us- were smart enough to save room for dessert). While waiting for our meals, we took in the ambiance of the restaurant, and wow was there a lot to take in! First off, we loved how the old Pizza Hut building had been repurposed and transformed into the embodiment of the tropical island lifestyle. From the display tables showcasing seashells and historic Florida Keys photos, to the license plate light fixtures, to the ceiling-mounted blue sky and clouds panels, to the fish hanging in front of each distinctively Pizza Hut trapezoidal window, we loved it all! When our food arrived, it looked fantastic and tasted even better. My wife described her seafood combo as being excellent, with the Caribbean lobster "almost as good as the ones we get in Maine." Likewise, her fish was fresh and delicious, while the shrimp were succulent. My burger was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and was topped with expertly caramelized onions and bacon with just the right amount of crispness to it. My coleslaw side was also excellent, with the perfect balance of creaminess and zing. Our friends also said their burger and shoestring fries were fantastic. To round out our meal, each of the four of us ordered pieces of Key Lime Pie, which was some of the best I have ever had in my life (and I have eaten a lot of Key Lime Pies!)! Throughout our meal, Deja checked on us often without being overbearing, and kept the drinks flowing. All told, for 5 drinks, 3 entrées with sides, and 4 slices of Key Lime Pie, our bill before tax, tip, and credit card surcharge was $163.93.
