Lobster Rolls (2) and Pilot House Baja Style Tacos
    Cricket B.

We started with a dozen oysters which were pretty decent, even though I prefer Kumamoto. I had the two lobster rolls and my hubby got the mahi tacos. The lobster was plentiful and cold and my hubby enjoyed his jerk tacos. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I really enjoyed eating outside on the deck. We had plenty of shade and the many ceiling fans helped keep us cool in the 87 degree weather.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was excellent and the food came out fast. I would definitely do there again.

Impressive restaurant right on the water! We came for our family friend's birthday and had a wonderful meal and experience. We arrived fairly early on Friday evening around 5:15pm. Plenty of seating so we got to pick our table. The outside seating on the water had live music which was a nice touch! Our table ordered a some appetizers and I got to try an oyster for the first time which I enjoyed. We also had calamari which was very tasty! For my main meal, I ordered the blackened mahi mahi sandwich with a side salad. My sandwich came with two large mahi mahi fillets! Very delicious sandwich. My husband had the fried grouper sandwich and gave me a taste and it was also very good. We had key lime pie for dessert and it was very good! Also my first time trying key lime pie! Overall we had a wonderful meal and we will probably be back again before we head back home.

Cat 5 Hurricane (I think). Whatever it was, it was good.

This is a nice, casual restaurant and you can dine right on the water, if there are available tables. Our server was a sweetheart who couldn't have been nicer. I thought the food was fine. We went to town on their fried foods and had no complaints. We tried the calamari and got a heaping portion. The Pilot House Harvey Fish Sandwich (mahi, tomato, cheese, tartar sauce) was very flavorful and filling. The Pilot House Baja Style Tacos were outrageously huge. A nitpicker would say they have no relation to anything in Baja and they were so big, you could hardly pick them up and eat them. A non-nitpicker would say that there was a ton of absolutely delicious shrimp and the flavors were terrific. The Shrimp & Chips platter was a big plate of shrimpy and French fried goodness. The key lime pie was very nice and not too sweet. Good service, nice views, and good food.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice place on the marina.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Came here for a few drinks at the outside bar. Don't have much else to say, just wanted to post the menus because the link is broken on their website

The best conch fritters we've ever had and I've eaten them quite a bit. Even the sauce it came was yummy! I took my mom for her bday here and was hoping the food was good. Since, she wanted seafood. They have a pretty gd happy hour; I ordered a rum punch that lacked the makings. So, I then ordered one of their HH lagers; it was from Rhode Island and surprisingly crisp and clean. I ordered Jerk shrimp tacos; the shrimp were huge and tasty. The food temp wasn't as hot as I like. But, the tacos were good. My mom orders the grilled shrimp fajita and deconstructed her meal due to her shrimp being so large. She didn't eat the tortillas and sides for the fajita and had a lovely meal. The rice and beans were really good, as well. The server was okay. But, appeared to not speak English. The manager was helping out our side and he as really gracious and attentive. The location and parking were great'

Delicious food!! The baja tacos are a must try! I got one of each both jerked style and i preferred the shrimp ones personally but the mahi one was also very delicious! Our waitress was very nice and helpful and she helped make sure i was able to get one of each tacos! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We even had a nice little visitor (the nurse shark) right next to our table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not only that but they are pet friendly with many dogs sitting along side their owners outside![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall i would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking to see some friendly faces and try some really good food!!

They note it as a local hangout since 1950 where you can get a good meal, friendly service, and relax to live music three nights a week! It's where the locals go to eat in Key Largo, and to a good degree that is all true. Their menu is rather skimpy but the food they offer is very good. I started off with an appetizer of steamed mussels. The broth was particularly good as enhanced by the inclusion of chorizo sausage and white wine. For my entrée, I went for the pa-seared scallops. The scallops were sea scallops, really large, very tasty, and sided with a delicious roasted red pepper risotto. Being out on the water gives a wonderful ambiance. So, I can't help but really like Pilot House.

Asked the server if the chef could do scallops but over pasta and this is what came out. It was 5/5, better than Chef Ramsay scallops!! We also had the spicy edamame (sauce was fire) and shrimp which were good...Vibe was great and the service was amazing. I would definitely go back again and try more!

This is our second visit to the Pilot House! Everything we had was fresh and delicious! The menu is a welcome variety of food styles but we always gravitate to their delicious seafood! Sitting outside in the tiki bar area, over looking the water and beautiful boats just soothes the soul. Last time I had the Pilot House Harvey Fish Sandwich, which was just perfect and was clear to see why it was a favorite. This time I had the Crunchy Grouper Sandwich, which did not disappoint! My love had the Mahi Rockefeller Sandwich, rich in flavor and she had the salad with a refreshing vinaigrette dressing. She really enjoyed it so much! We found out from the manager, who frequently walks around chatting with the guests, that if you go to the hostess stand, they will give you some food for the fish. So we sat and fed the Mangrove snapper and Parrot fish. Shortly later, a small Manatee came floating by along with a couple Nurse sharks. It was like being in an aquarium! Apparently, the new management has been making fun changes adding lighting and other decorative things to add to the experience. This truly is a hidden gem so don't miss it! It is one of those places that if living here, I would be there all the time!

We had not ever been here. Since it's a longtime restaurant of the area (since 1950), I figured we were overdue. We've been by their sign often when dining at the fisheries. We came for dinner. We usually like to sit at the bar and started out doing so. The weather was pleasant. After a few minutes, however, we realized it was way too smoky there - - guess everyone lit up at the same time -- so we decided to move inside. We noticed a couple other people doing the same after us. There was only one other couple sitting inside. We got very good and friendly service. I ordered their conch fritters. They were decent, but a little bit heavily breaded. I ate all the "middle" parts (lol). In addition, I got their crunchy grouper sandwich. I chose sweet potato fries for my side. The fries were excellent and the bread was very good. The fish itself was decent, but here, again, a tad too much breading on the outside. My husband got a couple items from their happy hour menu. Their coconut shrimp had a good sweet dipping sauce. He felt the same way about the breading. Half way through he peeled it off. He said the Happy Hour burger sliders were very good. It came with regular fries. They were just okay. So the overall consensus was that service was very good; and food decent, but not great. I'm glad we tried them. Now we won't be wondering.

Nice setting on the water. Staff is super friendly and great service. We tried to enjoy the outside waterside bar but were smoked out by people puffing all around. We moved inside by a window so we could enjoy the boats. I ordered from the Happy Hour menu and got a draft beer, two mini beef sliders (with seasoned fries), and four coconut Shrimp. Our server got everything right and checked on us several times. Food is good and is served hot.

It is a little tricky to find it, once you find the parking lot, it is super confusing as to where you enter. There are two floors and multiple doors. Finally someone directed us up the stairs and to the back of the building. We were greeted and given menus fairly quickly, but it took an extraordinarily long time to get our food that day. The hollandaise sauce was atypical as it tasted like there was cheese in it. The smoked salmon on a bagel tasted okay, but fell apart when it was picked up. The breakfast burrito lacked a lot of flavor. The blueberry pancake, although slightly overcooked, was actually very good. The bacon and fried potatoes were not crisp, as I prefer them. So if you like crispy bacon and fried potatoes, ask for that when placing your order. The windows and floors are dirty and the women's bathroom had a round hole with a dirty sock stuck in it on the floor. I actually tripped over it. And the bathroom could have been much cleaner. With a few improvements, Sharkeys could be more appealing to tourists going through and visiting the Keys.

One thing you'll notice pretty quickly in the Keys is that many restaurants close fairly early, and this one closes at 10 p.m., so we always make sure to get there in time. I've eaten at both the bar and at a table. This year, since my nephew was with us, we grabbed a table and enjoyed another great meal. My absolute favorite dish here is the fish topped with a generous portion of crab. It is absolutely incredible! Funny enough, years ago I actually ordered the pistachio-crusted fish, but the kitchen accidentally brought me the fish with crab instead. Let's just say I wasn't disappointed by that mistake! On this trip, I finally tried the pistachio-crusted fish, and it was delicious too. My nephew couldn't stop talking about the seafood linguine. It was loaded with seafood, and he absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is one of the best parts of dining here. The waterfront views are beautiful, and you can choose to sit under the tiki hut or kick off your shoes and enjoy the sand beneath your feet. It's such a relaxing place to unwind after a day in the Keys. We've also had the coconut shrimp, which comes with an amazing dipping sauce that I'd definitely recommend. For drinks, I tried their espresso martini for the first time. They add cocoa to it, which I've never seen before. It definitely caught me by surprise, but in a good way. I always enjoy when a bartender puts a creative spin on a classic cocktail instead of making the same version everyone else serves. Between the beautiful setting, delicious food, and laid-back atmosphere, this is a place we look forward to visiting every year.

Not sure if it's because we are a large party 10 or more, or what? Our last visit was a Sunday evening in early July . We ate outside. Waiter was good at getting water out to everyone. But when it came to drink orders we must have waited 15-20 minutes for him to take our drink orders. I had to ask him to take my appetizer order. We had to ask several times for our drinks - soft drinks- not alcoholic. They were not good at cleaning our dirty appetizer plates away after delivering dinner leaving the table crowded. I think what I found most annoying was watching our server and another server standing around while we were waiting for drinks, for order taking, for refills, etc. There was just no attention being paid to us. Maybe the guy was new? Not sure. The restaurant wasn't very busy so that wasn't the excuse. I've heard it's difficult to get good help in the Keys. Cost a lot to live here. Most commute from Homestead. Anyway- good for the food - don't expect great service. Ironically I did over tip. I was a server in college so I try to be generous.

So I delayed our departure a couple hours just to make sure we stopped here for lunch. The restaurant has an outside bar and patio dining plus inside a/c dining. We chose to sit in the inside. I'd asked the server what Florida lobster dishes they offered and the prices. She said they had two -- lobster bites and a lobster tail. I order the tail with sweet potato fries as my side. When the meal came, I saw that what was delivered was NOT fresh Florida lobster. The manager (?) told me they hadn't pulled the traps yet and didn't have any Florida lobster -- which was strange as it was almost a week into the season and their two ads touted it. Anyhow, he suggested the snapper instead and I chose the coconut yellowtail sandwich from their specials. This was barely edible -- over fried, over cooked, and dried out. I took only a couple bites and coins t even eat the rest. Meanwhile, my husband had ordered the cracked conch appetizer. We've had this all over Florida (he's a native) and in the Carribean. This version was quite different. It had large square pieces of conch in a heavy fried batter. I would not recommend this dish, either.
