The term, you get what you pay for rings true. While not as expensive as other local clubs, there is a reason for that. If there was a way to have a no star review, I would. Hurricanes volleyball program is a mess - scrambling to get coaches within a week of the season starting, giving coaches full latitude to run their teams without any accountability for their coaching or behavior towards players, moving players to more expensive teams to pack the roster and let them sit, and insufficient oversight of the program in general. Variety of sports activities including soccer, basketball, valley-ball. The have decent concession stand. Bunch of vending machines. They do host birthday parties. High Velocity isn't what it used to be unfortunately. My family has been coming here for about 10 years and the indoor facility's and the outdoor facility's have been in a slow decline. I hate the fact that I've only rated them a 3 but I have to be honest when I say we've tried speaking with management and the faculty staff to address concerns without any progress. The concession is awful, no good selection and the food is lacking taste and never seems to be hot and ready. They have indoor basketball, soccer and golf during the winter and softball fields outside during the spring, summer and fall. They have a hard time keeping the softball fields kept up and the trash cans are always overflowing. The inside during the winter is understaffed and the the refs are terrible. I don't recommend giving your business to them unfortunately. We can hope they turn it around in the future because the way it used to be was amazing. read more

My little one attended soccer lessons here during the summer. The little kickers class is well run and the kids learn alot of fun games. The format for the little ones is very similar to a PE class where the kids play simple games like red light green light. My son's preschool class recently took a field trip here and the kids had so much fun! The coaches were absolutely great with the kids, really got them involved and taught a lot of the kids that didn't know how to play soccer all the basics and got them comfortable with the soccer ball. They did interactive exercises and let them have open gym time. At the end of the field trip for the last hour they got to spend playing on another field that was filled with small inflatables, slides, T-ball, play house and a trampoline! Normally, we have had good luck with the people here, but when you have a problem, they are not equipped to deal with it. My son was hit by a Coach during a class which caused blood and a fat lip. When I approached the Managers about it, they never once apologized, continued to say that they did not see it and they would talk with the Coach. A facility that deals with kids needs to be better equipped to deal when they have a problem. I will never take my son to High Velocity based on the poor handling of when there is an issue and they do make you feel like they care. read more

We've been doing our winter soccer here with one of the boys. It seems okay. Seating is a little weird with bleachers upstairs that no one sits on. They just stand at the railing and block the view of anyone who wants to sit. Smells a LOT like a boys locker room. I've never been able to get anything from concessions because our sons games are later than the concession area stays open. There are big signs saying no outside food. I would suggest they keep the concession area open later if they want to enforce that. LOUD LOUD LOUD PLACE. read more

it was first time being in this Air Dome complex. Its really quite big. I was here for a Birthday party and my kids really enjoy the soccer field and the bouncy houses and slides. Honestly I did too :) I think it's cleaned and staff is very relaxed and let everyone do their thing. they kept the party on time and the pizza was great too. Will surely visit here again! read more

This is strictly a review on their indoor soccer programs. I have played (and coached) at a couple of local indoor soccer facilities, and High Velocity is EASILY the best of the bunch. To start with, they actually CARE about having teams be as evenly matched as possible (I've seen them move teams to different divisions once it's apparent that one team is either too good or not good enough). This alone shows more integrity than Wide World (where I had an 8 year old daughter in a GIRLS division play against a team with all but 2 boys (in the girls division) that pounded everyone -- absolute joke). They also try to make sure the referees are good and fair, and err towards the side of caution (again, compared to Wide World is a huge improvement - I've seen games get waaaay out of hand because the ref wouldn't call anything). The only time I had an issue with a referee, it was handled quickly and efficiently by the front office. I highly suggest High Velocity over any other indoor soccer facilities I've played or coached at. read more

I recently moved to the area and wanted to rejoin an indoor soccer league, having done so for many years in previous locations. Registering was easy, and the schedules and team rosters are made available and updated on a mobile app. At other locations, registering, getting a full team and schedule, or getting someone to answer simple questions was harder than beating a team of youthful Mexicans. I signed up for a Sunday evening league to best fit my work schedule. When the schedule was released, I was bummed to see games scheduled as late as 11:35pm. And, my "house team" seemed to have most of these ridiculously late games, as well as an off-night Wednesday game to crunch the schedule around the holidays. This unfortunately caused me to miss a few games. When I did show up for some of these late games, most of my team and the other team couldn't make the time, which really hampered the level of excitement. Otherwise, the ceilings and side walls are really low, the referees are bullies, it's 100 degrees inside, and the fields seemed much smaller than other places I've been to. They recommended indoor soccer shoes, but the field turf is real slick with flat-bottomed shoes. I'd suggest wearing regular outdoor soccer shoes. I will certainly register to play here again but would have to make sure the league has a more favorable schedule. read more

After looking everywhere for some sort of program that involves the five and under crowd I happened upon L'l Kickers and L'il Ballers. I can't necessarily comment about the leagues and older groups but what we have experienced so far is great. The coaches make things fun for the little guys while teaching them technique that they will benefit from as they progress. I applaud the coaches for their effort which sometimes almost looks as if they're in a room fool of rowdy toddlers --- which they are at times. They pout, they fight, they cry sometimes. The coaches keep them all reigned in and keep them on track with the tasks. I haven't seen the snack bar open but, to me, that's not necessarily a bad thing. We are there for 55 minutes and don't really need a "snack" during that time. We wouldn't eat the food options there anyway. It would be great if some fresh, healthy options were available. The front office staff is always friendly and helpful - Not just the adults but the younger kids manning the desk too. Last month I called and inquired about the Bounce House hours for a Saturday. I was told that unless there was a birthday party scheduled that there would be open bounce times. We scheduled a party for my grandson and one other friend for a last minute birthday get together. When we arrived the place was almost empty and most of the lights were out. The bounce house was deflated. I had two little boys arriving within minutes who were going to be terribly disappointed. Tracy very kindly blew up all of the bounce displays and the boys had the place to themselves. We were there about two hours. We brought in our own small cake and even a couple of pizzas. Her kindness definitely made the day for two little boys. read more

This review is for the golf simulator only. We had been wanting to try a golf simulator and found a good deal on groupon for hv. Be forewarned they only have two golf simulators so being able to book a time is difficult, it took us three weeks. I thought it would be like On the Dunes where you have your own private room and On the Dunes I know has about a dozen simulators from what I've seen. At HV you basically are set up in the lobby and with the people right next to you which is not ideal (think how bowling alleys are set up). We figured it'd take a few swings to get used to how the machine works but because the ceilings are so low (9-10ft) we kept having the golf ball hit the ceiling when driving, super frustrating and VERY irritating! Not to mention hitting the ceilings means your drive only went 50 to 60 yards if you're lucky. Couldn't really get into a rhythm because of that and just found the experience frustrating and not very fun. Next time we're going to try On the Dunes, they have way higher ceilings lol. Otherwise, the staff was friendly helpful & the pizza they ordered us for the groupon from cottage inn was good. read more

Number of activities: give it a 5 star rating. Number of parking spots for those activities: give it a -5 rating. If you are lucky, and you have 15 minutes to burn 2-3 gallons of gas looking for a spot, there is a 25% chance you will find one. Most likely, you will have to park over in the baseball and hockey rinks areas and hike to High Velocity (I sure hope they are being reimbursed for the loss of their parking spots). It is quite apparent that High Velocity only cares about one thing, your money. Over priced junk food only (No outside food policy in effect). Funny that my 8th grader points out there in not one healthy thing other than water to consume in this facility. High Velocity was quick to put up bubble for another activity, but show us where they expanded parking to accommodate those participants? Now going on year two of having cancelled basketball games because court 4 always has a problem with water. For a facility that is basically sold out, how about reinvesting on maintenance to FIX THE WATER ISSUE! Ventilation leaves something to be desired, walk three feet into the facility and get smacked upside the head of 150+ athletes sweat assaulting your nose. Concept of a sports complex is great, execution of managing such a facility is a dismal failure. read more

This place could be AMAZING!!! It is excellent in its diverse sports programs and offers a great location with lots of different fields (basketball, indoor flag football, soccer). Additionally, I love the inflatables and party options. Years ago they used to have an open play day for preschoolers and that was great as well, I'm not sure if it's still available. On the other side, it's way too hot in the summer, extremely cold in the winter and the acoustics are LOUD. the seating upstairs is nice for a good view but when no one sits but stands at the edge blocking your view... It's not ideal. When waiting in between games or tournaments it is less than comfortable. There is no seating area to just relax and wait while your player is practicing, there is one area that is roped off and another section of tables that are less comfortable than sitting on a wire fence. There is a "no outside food" policy... C'mon! When your over priced concessions, run by 6 clueless high schoolers, leave options of carnival food looking better.... You've got issues. This is a sports complex!!!!! I'd like my child to have something nutritional to eat while playing to replenish them. Not nachos, pizza, fries and soda pop. Sorry high velocity, you've got a GREAT concept but you need a LOT of help with the delivery. read more

If your looking for open run basketball, this isn't the place. The times are so inconsistent that it's hard to keep a steady crowed. One day all courts are open, the next only one, and then some times none because they are all rented. If there were set days and times I'm sure there would be good runs. You get greeted with a straight faced, cold, bored attendant who could care less. Mind you, I love people and still kept smiling through it YET she kept being an inconsiderate, less than enthusiastic rude person. Honestly - I do not like to write these reviews because I know what it must feel like to read them BUT someone should know that the heavy set, blondish girl should not be representing HIGH VELOCITY when newbies like me take the effort to stop by and sign up 4 kids for your programs. So, long story short - WE decided on gymnastics for the time being. They actually took the time to explain the programs. read more

We have been taking our son her for li kickers soccer for a couple of years now and he absolutely loves it! The first year we signed him up it was $110 per child, they soon added an anual family fee of $20 ...well a few years later and the prices are through the roof! $135 per 10 week session with a $30 family fee. We wanted to sign our daughter up for this as well but @ $300 for a 10 week session is ridiculous! There is no AC in the summer and it gets hot really quick if your in the upper floor arena. There is only one elevator in the very back and at times it doesnt work, on a couple of occasions we had to carry a baby stroler up & down the stairs to watch my sons practice. However their birthday parties are the best value around, with a full field of bounce houses and a party room all toyourselves it is perfect. They provide pizza, a party host and they clean up after you leave. I would definitely recommend it foe parties but no so much for yout soccer clinics. read more
