Similar to the restaurant upstairs at the Omni, Stickney's has improved their menu, service, and overall dining experience in the previous year. We spent Christmas there and boy was it magical. Stopped in after a morning of hiking. Stick ey's has an amazing view of MT Washington and an amazing staff. NE clam chowder is the best in New England....and we're from NE so we've tried MANY! We really enjoyed our dinner. It was our best meal of our whole new england trip. The salmon with lentils and carrot chips was moist, tasty and a welcome change. What a disappointment! Spent $300 and nothing to show for. I had the colossal shrimp scampi. I had to send it back because it was overly tart. My salmon was dry because I opted for no beets sauce. I hate beets. Non of my children finished no one finished their food. Dishes were between $40-60. The wedge salad had like 4 leaves and a whole bunch of dressing and bacon. Service is the only thing I thought was ok. Com'on Omni. What's the deal?!? We got here when it was dark so we didn't get to see the view, which I imagine is beautiful. I wouldn't recommend having dinner here though. They don't even have bread service. Not sure who I am paying $40+ for my meal but it definitely wasn't the quality. Stickney's restaurant is named after the founder of the Mount Washington hotel. This historically famous hotel was built in 1902. It's grand architecture was the setting for summer vacations for the very wealthy from Boston, New York, and Philadelphia. Stickney's is one of several restaurants on property. It is located on the ground floor. We stopped here for lunch during our vacation exploring the White Mountains. We started with the Crab Artichoke dip. It was wonderful and especially good when the dip was still warm. The kettle chips were the perfect tool for scooping up delicious bites of the creamy dip. I ordered the Steak Wrap. It is huge, and served with French fries. The wrap was good. And enough to share. Nice experience, a little pricy though. read more

We visited Stickneys as part of our visit to the Mount Washington Hotel. Service at the restaurant was great and very accommodating on both occasions. Unfortunately, the menu leaves a lot to be desired as does the wine list. The menu posted online was not accurate which was disappointing. While there are many classic menu items like steaks, there are very few vegan or vegetarian items, even less gluten-free items. The menu could definitely do with some modernization. read more

Great atmosphere and resort but the service has deteriorated from previous visits. Food quality was good, but not exceptional, as you would expect from a high end resort like this. We asked Billy if the lobster salad club had 3 pieces of bread - he thought only 2; wrong it was 3. He took orders and served drinks from one spot rather than walk around the table. He wasn't very attentive and I finally had to call out his name as he walked by so we could get the check. Table wasn't cleared prior to getting our check. I specifically told Billy early on I wanted the check at the end. He left the check next to my 1 year old granddaughter opposite where I was sitting and at his favorite spot to service our table from. Started off rough when the hostess did not even look up while addressing us. Ended up getting seated outside pretty quickly. Our server was very nice but service was spotty. Our order came out wrong and we did not have any utensils. They fixed it but it was frustrating. My hubbie had the burger which he really enjoyed. Two beef patties, brioche bun and special sauce with good steak fries. $16 was ok for this meal. Salads range from $11 to $17. Beautiful view from the indoor and outdoor seating areas but service and food could have been better. Oh and the rude hostess was actually the manager. A little friendliness goes a long way. This establishment has been on my radar for a period of time. I enjoyed it's nourishments recently with a group. We had some juicy ribeye steaks and ate them with no regrets. They were a bit fatty, like Seth Rogen but not so much you couldn't enjoy it. Alexus our waiter made me want to get a new car every time I called for him. The ribeye was good, not great. The salmon was delicious. We were treated twice to a bald eagle soaring over head, just several hundred feet from our table. This was an absolute beautiful site. I have been here twice and it has been eh. The first time over the summer my salmon was terrible as it was layered in salt. They seemed to be very busy that day so I thought it was okay. More recently, we came back and it was better. I would give this restaurant a 3 star, however, our waiter for both visits (Claudiu) was very nice and helpful. He was attentive and just an amazing waiter. I did not like the lobster and cheese that much. The steak was very juicy and perfectly cooked. I understand that being so far out it is not easy to get the best products. We ordered the burger, brick chciken special, and chocolate lava cake. The Fries were inedible. My wife and I extended a two day business trip at Mt Washington to a third night so we could continue to enjoy the ambiance, great service and view of the famed MT. Washington Resort. Sorry to say the special service and customer focus did not extend to our evening meal at the Restaurant housed at the hotel. After a day at the spa and some happy hour time on the grand porch, we decided to go for a light meal at the hotel. It is important to note at 6:45 pm we walked in from the lawn, through the patio through the dining room into the bar where the hostess was. We asked about a table on the patio, or close to a window; the very nice young lady was very sweet and apologetic after asking someone in a back room we were told "they were booked solid and all we could do was find a seat in the bar area" Ok we get that, Big resort, they are busy. Rush hour must be coming at 7. We sat at a table that did give a view of the dining room and patio...and throughout the dinner till 8:15 we noticed that the room, less than half filled at 6:45 was never was more than half way busy, In fact, other folk without reservations were offered the bar - or the patio. We were not happy. For dinner, my salmon was cooked very well but the mustard sauce was placed with a heavy hand. and the vegetable was spread across the plate - no effort to make the pate appetizing. My wife ordered the 1/2 chicken. Overcooked, dry and almost burnt. Worse, the mash potatoes were served in a mound, clearly a large scoop. No panache at all. Last draw, the spinach in cream sauce was not served until we asked and it was really cream with some spinach. Dreadful. We truly enjoyed our stay. The meal at the Spa and the food at the conference were all good and there was plenty of great service. The bartender a nice guy just could not keep up with the bar service and visiting tables. We had to go to him to get our check. We went upstairs to get our coffee. The porch team was excellent. So a "3" rating based on potential ambiance, made a 2 based on the quality of the food and then a 1 for the lack of taking care of the customer in front of you. Before you get on me the at restaurant folks work hard - I get that. I worked in this business, It is not hard to say, sure we can seat you - we have reservations, do you mind if you order right away? We would have gladly had our coffee on the adirondack chairs. Took a friend for her birthday lunch. Very busy, about a 20 minute wait. Limited menu. I had the caprese salad which was excellent. The " chilled shrimp cocktail " was generous and served on a bed of arugula. Although the shrimp tasted fresh, they were lukewarm, and I was concerned they'd been frozen and defrosted in a microwave. I also had to ask for cocktail sauce. My friends fish and chips were generous and nicely done. They were clearly short staffed, so service was slow. I got the Angus Special Sauce Burger...two parties seemed like it would be crazy but they are smaller and it's big, I admit I cut mine in half. It was the best burger I've had in ages. There's a lot of things to like about the Omni Mt Washington but the food scene at the resort is not one of them. Overpriced and mediocre are the two words that immediately come to mind. We had a reservation at Stickney's Pub that we had made at the time we booked our weekend getaway...at least 2 months prior to our actual stay. We walked into the pub and were shown our table which was right inside the door....the worst table in the room. We immediately requested one of the 5 empty tables by the windows. The surly hostess informed us we had to go on a wait list for an empty table by the window. They were empty?! .....and they stayed empty throughout our entire meal! Must be one helluva waitlist if nobody actually gets to sit there. The hostess was surly before we even asked about changing our table. And then the waiter came over and HE too was curt and surly! Neither one of them was at all hospitable or friendly. The only one who was was the food runner. He should have been the waiter! I ordered a burger, and asked for it rare and was informed that they don't serve rare! You're telling me I'm paying $23 for a burger and the kitchen does not trust their own meat enough to serve it rare......at a supposed 5 star hotel? I dont know about you but that's a red flag for me. My wife got the lobster mac and cheese, which did not have all that much lobster...another disappointment. Anyway....long story short....a burger, some mac and cheese, and a couple( literally 2 each) drinks each with tip cost almost $200 ?! I don't mind spending good money on good food -I do it fairly often - but I could have gotten a better meal at half the cost down the road. Which is what we did for the rest of the weekend -went off the property for good food with good service at a fair price. I went here on Christmas Eve with my wife & daughter. We sat at a table in the bar area, the main dining room was fully booked so we could not get reservations. But, the bar area tables are first come first serve, full dinner menu. The drinks were pretty good. My wife got 2 margaritas that she really liked. I got the blackberry whisky sour and a mudslide. I thought the mudslide was really good so if you like them, definitely try one! For apps, we got the goat cheese bruschetta. We both really liked it and it was a good base to have before our meals. My wife ordered the half chicken with riced cauliflower and mashed potatoes. The chicken was super moist and she loved the sides. My daughter got a kids hot dog with a ton of fries that she really enjoyed. I got the angus beef burger which comes with 2 beef patties and cheese. They also gave me a ton of fries and a pickle, all very good. Our waiter was very nice and attentive, seemed to always come to our tablr at the right time. Overall I would recommend going here. The restaurant is spacious and the view is nice. Even the smoked steak tips is an appetizer, I think it's big enough for entree. There's a lot of meat and I wish they have given more vegetables to balance the tastes. I ended up stealing my friend's fries. The fish and chips are ok. The fries are not bad.
