    Haitian spaghetti is sweet
    Peter P.

The Haitian spaghetti has an Asian taste to it that my girlfriend really liked. Korean wings were underwhelming in flavor and a tad on the dry side. Sweet cornbread waffles and fried plantains were just OK. Flex Mac and cheese was very bland and dry. The diner itself was very clean and the staff were excellent.

    Chicken and honey cornbread waffles

I went there for lunch with my family. We had chicken and honey cornbread waffles which was soooo good and salt and pepper wings with coconut rice and plantains. Please check this place out! I'm eating the leftover Mac and cheese for dinner now and I don't know what they put in it but it is just good!

I honestly have no words for how good the food is at Neighborhood Kitchen! Don't sleep on this hole in the wall. Just do yourself a favor and go! I ordered the creole chicken with rice and beans and a side of macaroni and cheese with a berry limeade. Everything was SO GOOD! The creole chicken was packed with flavor (only $12!) and the Mac and cheese was probably some of the best I've had! The homemade beverages are also a hit! I highly recommend the berry limeade. My boyfriend ordered the salmon burger which was also very tasty! So glad I was able to support this small black owned establishment.

Did takeout here. Struggled a bit with the ordering process on Yelp. The regular menu shows items that are not on the Yelp/GrubHub menu. For example, I couldn't get a side of plantains and some of the beverages weren't on there. The food was ok. The Korean wings didn't really taste like Korean wings. The sauce was more of a jerk sauce and it was sitting at the bottom of the take out container, so the wings were dry. The lasagna with the plantains was interesting. The side of plantains were good - that was my favorite item. The portions were a bit on the small side for the prices being charged. Service was friendly. Street parking was easy to find. There was some seating inside.

Aaah literally the best chicken sandwich place in the Boston area (my boyfriend's words) and omg the haitian spaghetti is such a steal ($15 for 2 dinners). We've always had good experiences eating/ordering from NK. And such a unique fusion Asian + Haitian :0 I'm such a fan! Very thankful to the person who recommended this place to me!! This is place is a hidden gem & the local business y'all should support

Fantastic brunch with hefty portions. We arrived to the restaurant a little before they opened but they were still able to accommodate us with great customer service and hospitality! Dishes ordered: Stuff French toast ( brunch menu) Chicken and waffles (brunch menu) Pros: - Portions were huge - chicken was very flavorful! - great customer service (friendly staff and management) - presentation of food mint Cons: - stuffed French toast wasn't too flavorful (a little on the bland side) - that's about it... Recommendations: - definitely try the chicken and waffles if you are in the mood for something salty and sweet and have extra room in the stomach because its a lot! ( Good for 2 people) Verdict: Overall very cute brunch spot. Will definitely have to try it again!

I had to try Neighborhood kitchen, I've recently heard great things about this restaurant. I must say they did not disappoint. This establishment has Asians and Haitians coming together and making sure your palettes are satisfied. They also do catering events, I ordered an NK plate with salmon and fried plantain and it was very flavorful. The owner showed great hospitality and makes you feel as though you are at home. I had the opportunity to chat with her and she's an awesome woman who can cook like it is nobody's business. I highly recommend you come out to Medford and try this place out. You can thank me later, for now fill up your tank and head over there! Food: 4 Customer service: 5

Wow, the Djon Djon (Haitian rice), which came with a couple of sweet plantains, is sooo good, adding the pikliz (Haitian pickled cabbage and hot peppers) on top! This was the first time I had pikliz- so spicy and flavorful.

I have been wanting to try this place for months! The food always looks amazing and I instagram stalk them constantly. Tonight was a order in night, no one wants to cook in 90+ degree weather, so we ordered from neighborhood kitchen. We ordered: the creole chicken plate w/ djon djon rice, wing plate w/ djon djon rice, cheddar bacon scallion flex Mac n cheese, and vegetable rangoons. The good: - food was fresh and piping hot! - very generous portions! we are two adults and a 2.5 yr old, it was enough food for at least 2 meals. - everything was well packed. The just mediocre: - without the addition of the cheddar bacon scallion topping, the Mac n cheese would have been very bland and sad. There was a lot of crusty cheese goodness on top, but the macaroni underneath was not cheesy and creamy, honestly it was light on the cheese for my taste. - the djon djon rice is spicy, I have had a lot of Haitian food and a lot of the mushroom/black rice or so I thought. But I have never had it spicy. It was disappointing, I have a very low spice tolerance, but the worst part was I couldn't give any to my toddler. I wish there was a disclaimer somewhere about the spice. The sweet plantain is a nice touch to combat the spice! - creole chicken was well cooked, but bland, maybe to offset the spice of the rice? - I ordered the wings salt n pepper flavor, I liked that they came with some veg. This was well spiced. It was just okay for me. - the vegetable rangoons: I'm not sure what kind of cheese was used, but it was not creamy and had a bit of a sour taste I could not place. Overall, it was ok. I would be interested to try other menu items, especially the brunch!

They are really like mass produced tenders you buy in bulk at Costco, but they deep fry them on site and then toss them in the spices and flavors that you order. It's nothing compared to Dave's hot chicken, but it's cheap and hits the spot. This time we got the hot honey, lemon pepper and garlic parmesean flavor wings and fries. My fave was the hot honey, followed by garlic parm and then lemon pepper. All were good and tastes exactly how you'd imagine it would. No surprises, really. The fries, despite us dining in and consuming them right away - were barely warm, but somehow it preserved it's crisp. I wish they were warmer/hot...it would be sooo good. We probably got a stale batch. Note that their website offers more ordering options for the tenders. The combo I wanted was not listed in the store, but when I showed the guy what I wanted, he had no problems helping me with the combo I wanted at the listed price. This place has no trashcan outside so when you leave, you have to toss things over the into the trashcan inside the kitchen area on your way out. Pricing is reasonable and the front desk guy was friendly. I'd stay away from the wet flavors as it makes the food soggy, but that could just be personal preference. Here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: It's a bit of a dive bar and there's nothing wrong with that at all. There's lots of seemingly random swag that covered the dark wooden/brick walls of the open floorplan style restaurant. There are lots of TVs and this place just gives off nice sports bar vibes! Service: Ron the bartender/owner himself was taking care of the entire restaurant so he was killing it! He still was quick, efficient, did things with a smile and still made time to chat! Food: I'm here for the wings and I was able to try out 4 flavors! There are 14 sauces to choose from, but I only had enough room for 4. Lol. First up were the Cinnamon Chipotle Dry Rub. They were a decent size, super juicy, crispy, cooked perfectly. The seasoning was a bit on the salty side and I didn't get a whole lot of cinnamon, but it was there to cut the sauce and give it a extra layer of flavor. Next up was the Honey Honey which had great sauce coverage. They gave me a bit of a grilled/caramelized feel. These had a good kick to them and the honey was blended in nicely. Next up were the Roasted Garlic & Aji! These had a more traditional flavor profile that reminded me of your favorite straight-up roasted chicken. Very class and very good. Lastly, was the hottest sauce on the menu, Chernobyl. These were a BRIGHT RED like a poison dart frog warning you not to eat it. Lol. It didn't smell too intimidating, but Ron did say it was a ghost pepper based wing. Upon tasting them, there was an immediate sensation of heat. Good, pepper-rich sweetness up front. These were very good, but not as spicy as I had predicted, which is totally okay! Value: You get 6 wings for $11.00. A little on the pricey side, but it's Boston, sort-of downtown, but it's okay! It's not bad at all and the food was totally worth it. I loved this place and I'm so happy I finally found a good wing spot here in the Cambridge area. I'll surely try some more flavors and other things from their menu!
