My whole family has been regular patients in this place. Recently, we received a very rude reminder about dental cleaning and a threatening message that if we don't schedule our last cleaning for the fiscal year, our account will be deactivated! She totally ignored me and took a photo with her iPad anyhow and said I was beautiful -- it's not about me being or not being beautiful, I just don't want my photo taken and I wish you'd hear me and not ignore me. Next I went to see the dentist. He was not a great listener and he missed some crucial points (I realized this later) which could have been very important in the decision on whether or not I need an implant. He kept looking at the X-ray and then my teeth and explaining what I need. I listened and nodded. Then he asked me if this was a new crown that needed redoing. I said no, I've had it for x number of years. Five minutes later he again said this was a new crown. I told him no, I've had it for years. Long story short -- we realized at the very end of my appointment that he was looking at a wrong X-ray. It was a different patient's X-ray. How this was possible and how he didn't realize it wasn't mine Ia beyond me. But what really killed it was him ending the appointment with saying something like it looks like I have a Russian smile now (he meant it as bad teeth). From my perspective, these issues only began after the bite adjustment, and the treatment options I've been offered have been complex, costly, and not reassuring. I deeply regret these decisions and strongly urge others to seek multiple opinions before agreeing to any similar treatments. Some highlights: - I showed up to my appointment on time once and the whole building was emptied out over a fire alarm. I had a quick chat with some of the staff outside, and everyone was friendly. We all go back inside, the receptionist (who I had JUST been talking to outside) tells me I'm 20 minutes late and they can't see me. I honestly thought she was joking. She pretended to have no recollection of the fire alarm, the conversation we'd had 5 minutes ago or the fact that I was with THE ENTIRE STAFF outside just a few minutes ago. Tried appealing to reason and the entire desk staff doubled down that I was late and there was nothing they could do, and I'd be charged for the appointment. The hygienist finally stepped in and sorted it out. - My wife went to see Dr Berik who used her shot at a captive audience (a patient in her chair) to go on and on about politics and MAGA nonsense. I've had teeth for a long time now and I've never had a doctor with so little common sense as to not turn a dental appointment into a podcast. - Finally had enough billing and scheduling issues that I found a new dentist. Newton Dental didn't disappoint. They received multiple requests from both myself and my new dentist to release my records and ignored all of them. They lied over and over again that they would send them in a move that I have to assume was retaliation for leaving. Dr. Maria Moser at this office attempted to do a tooth implant on me. I say 'attempted' because it…read morewas botched- the abutment part was too big. She even said this right out loud, in surprise, as the procedure was getting underway. She went ahead however and tried to put the thing in anyway. As she tightened it into place I almost screamed and fainted; this was far and away the most painful experience I've ever had, in a dentist's office or outside of one. The pain didn't let up and five days later I had her take the abutment and crown back out. She put me on a course of antibiotics to try to stop any infection from the obvious swelling that had begun (see the picture). I rejected her offer to try the whole procedure again, this time with a "tissue punch", and had the botched part redone by a dentist who'd been voted the 'Best Dentist in Boston'. Dr. Moser never apologized or expressed any remorse and of course never refunded the thousands she charged me and my insurance.
