We had a large scope (our property is over 7 acres) and spent about half a day walking the property and discussing our thoughts. When we received the design, it was almost perfect! But we knew the design was the "easy" part...the execution of the design was the difficult and more important part of the project. Well, we can hardly find the right words for how smooth the installation happened! The installation Team was absolutely amazing! The Supervisors communicated great during the project but what really exceeded our expectations was the very few questions they had to ask us. That was because the Design was so well documented, the install Team had a near perfect roadmap to make the design come to life. All members of the team were friendly, professional and had a strong desire to satisfy our needs. They also exhibited tremendous respect for our property. They were careful with driving their large trailers and they cleaned up the property EVERY day during the install! That's right! They cleaned up every single day! One of the biggest challenges we've had with other Landscapers was poor planting techniques which resulted in plants dying. This is one of James Landscaping's biggest strengths. They took great care when preparing the beds before planting. They removed about 8-10 inches of soil and replaced with an excellent mix of soil and compost. We know this will result in all the plants developing strong roots for lasting health in our crazy Texas weather. We highly recommend James Landscaping for your landscaping projects especially very large ones. Unfortunately we know the initial and ongoing costs of poor landscaping (especially for large properties). We are VERY fortunate to have used James Landscaping...we wished we would have used them 20 years ago!!

I had a hard time walking on the existing walkway and had to be careful not to trip or fall. As the new walkway was being installed, I noticed the workers using string, levels and tape measures to ensure the walkway would be leveled. I also noted the amount of time they spent to chip away each flagstone so that it beautifully fit together. It made me feel that I was truly getting a custom built walkway. Since completion, I have felt very safe walking on the walkway and never get the sense that I'm walking on flagstones. My yard had several areas where I had a hard time growing plants. They filled in empty areas with native plants. They did an incredible job and I'm very, very pleased.

Here's the story... Before purchasing, I made it crystal clear I needed HOA approval (as an "exception" because it's not on our approved landscaping list). On that lovely Saturday, the very helpful sales associate, Olivia, confidently assured me I'd get a full refund if the HOA didn't approve. No mention of store credit. No caveats. That promise (and my love for those two trees) was the only reason I agreed to move forward and let them hold the trees on my card. HOA said no. I came back expecting a simple resolution... and instead got a full rewrite of reality. Olivia wasn't there, and the staff immediately insisted there was "no way she would've said that." One employee chimed in, "I trained her myself," followed by questions about whether I "saw all the no-refund signs." The manager doubled down with, "I really don't believe she said that." All of this--despite having a witness that was standing next to me who heard the entire conversation. Let's call it what it was: not confusion... gaslighting. After things escalated, the owner came out, seemingly only after I mentioned disputing the charge. She agree to refund me--but not before trying to shush me, telling me to "be quiet or wait outside," and saying, "I'll refund your money and you can go buy your trees elsewhere." Nothing says "family business values" quite like dismissing a paying customer on the way out. The trees were beautiful, no doubt--but their integrity and respect wilted faster than a Texas agave in August. If you shop here, get everything in writing... because their word clearly doesn't take root. Better yet, don't.

We hired R & O Landscaping to fix our sprinkler system. While I can't complain about the quality of…read moreservice we received, I do question the company's character. When we hired them, I told them that we have a blueprint of sorts showing the location of everything involving our sprinkler system. I told them if they need to know Where certain things were, I would provide them with it. I don't exactly know why this happened, but on my invoice I got billed $170 just to locate one of my irrigation valves. I did ask why I got billed to locate something I told them I knew the location of, but that was never acknowledged. So even though my system was mapped out for them and available for viewing which they knew, they chose to charge us $170 for " them " to locate the valve on their own. The dialogue ultimately ended with them telling me this. (Copied and pasted exactly as I received it) " fYI we spend workers time, resources and used an expensive machine to locate your bad valve and fix your problem. " So it didn't matter if what they did was completely unnecessary because I could have and offered to just show them where it was located, I had to pay $170 for "them" to Locate a valve that I all ready knew exactly where it was. So the questions. did they do a good job?..... YES Will I ever use them again?.......NO I hope someone finds this useful.

I am incredibly sad to post this and I wish I could give more stars on this review as I had high…read morehopes for Ricardo and his team. We hired R&O Landscaping to complete a large concrete patio extension, irrigation, front landscape overhaul and back landscape design. Of that, only irrigation, front landscape and patio were "completed". Irrigation work went smoothly at first, but later we learned that 3-4 sprinklers were no longer working and one sprinkler had not been capped off after pouring concrete over, which we were assured was not the case. To this day, we have serious irrigation issues in our backyard with flooding under the concrete where the sprinkler was NOT capped off. The patio extension and new concrete pour was an absolute disaster. We tried to give the benefit of the doubt to him and the concrete crew attempted to resolve several times. In the first pour, they miscalculated how much concrete was needed and chose to "finish" the job with bagged concrete from Home Depot vs. the concrete that had been poured and almost fully cured from the truck. They claimed that the truck was no longer available because it was a Saturday and did not consult us on next steps. This left serious texture, color and cracking issues over half of our patio. Cracking began almost immediately. Later, Ricardo convinced us to put a top coat over the full patio to help seal the cracking. Shortly after that was completed, more cracking appeared from end to end. Lastly, they ripped out the entire patio and left us with an unsafe and unusable backyard for many weeks. Ricardo offered to give us our money back at this point, but we just desperately wanted the job to get done so we could let our dog and child outside to play. This entire ordeal took months and we are highly unsatisfied with the end result. To this day, there is end to end cracking and chips all over the patio. We would expect this out of a patio with time, but the cracks are so severe and they showed up within days of pour. After consulting several other landscape companies, we were assured that the foundation of the patio was corrupt and we should NOT be experiencing this sort of cracking within days, even weeks or months within the pour. For landscaping, we understood that there was limited inventory in plants due to the winter freeze, but noticed all of our neighbors getting complete landscape overhauls without issue. After waiting for months, we ended up pulling our old, dead, plants our of our flower bed ourselves. In the end, for our front landscaping we went to a nursery ourselves, picked out our plants and instructed Ricardo's team to put in the ground which was done in 20 minutes which again, we should have just done ourselves because they had zero creative input, they did not provide any of the soil (or even turn up the old soil - they just planted on top of the old mulch) and did not fix any of the surrounding landscaping. We have tried reaching out to Ricardo several times to rectify the irrigation issues and he has yet to complete the work. We feel that we gave every opportunity to resolve these issues, and even requested them to finish our backyard landscaping but again, never heard back. After all of the issues we had, we would have expected the business owner, Ricardo, to directly oversee the work being done but, that did not happen.
