Unique refurbished old landscaping around our newly ripped and replaced pool back patio. Mrs Kaufman came and worked up a design that much like herself was quirky yet a sound reason for everything. A year later and we could not be happier! Did everything go 100%? Nope - but how the Kaufman's took care of issues was spot on and left me feeling good about my choice to partner with them. Their post-install help has been stellar - answering any questions this purple thumbed customer may have. They even came by and checked on my landscaping at periodic intervals making suggestions recommendations and even taking care of an issue or two that I never saw. We had a back yard that needed help, a great deal of help. Unique Landscaping efficiently and professionally improved the quality and beauty of our property. Overall, beautiful design that added sod, extended the patio, improved the water flow to eliminated water pooling issues, repaired the irrigation system, put in beds, and added plants that assisted with water issues where needed and color for three Seasons. You will see a 'dog digging pit' that I requested. This was a first for Unique and they did remarkably well from planning to executing (water drains and does not pool in the pit). The dogs love it! Thank you, Unique Landscaping for our beautiful back yard. Unique Landscaping follows up at 6 weeks and 6 months and fully backs their work. We do enjoy our back yard now. We were excited to get our new landscaping with Unique Landscaping. Our architect Donna provided us with very thorough drawings. Most of the plants were beautiful and successful unfortunately, a few died immediately and weren't replaced as promised. Additionally, the edging looked great in the front of the yard, but on the side yard it slopes instead of terraced, which looks like a cheap short cut. When my husband or I addressed concerns about these two issues nothing was fixed. We purchased a one year yard maintenance contract and were even more disappointed. It was expensive and very little was done. When we talked to the crews about things that needed to be done, they explained nothing could be done without the office approval. But, even after several calls very few things were done each visit. Typically they worked 10-20 minutes then would leave and often left it messy. Lastly, they would show up and enter the backyard without us knowing they were here. I requested several times that they knock or text but they simply started skipping our yard or would show up at 7:30am. Currently we have another company doing a great job and for a less money, I would not recommend Unique Landscaping, lesson learned. read more

After a significant delay in having them come out to evaluate the property and then patiently waiting for a design proposal, only to be told by Donna that essentially it's an all or nothing project which cannot be subdivided in order to meet my budget. They have a $2000 minimum project cost and the estimated job would be well over $10,000. When asked if the company could piece the project together, like doing some now and some later, I was met with an unwillingness to work together. This was followed by a phone call by Donna stating they do not want to take on the project. Donna was very inflexible and unwilling to work with this customer, and hope that in the future this company will do better at working with their customer base. Not all of us have an unlimited budget that can throw tens of thousands of dollars into our yards like this company is looking for. It was clear that they did not want to waste theirtime with a smaller project, so don't waste your time with this company. Again, Donna's response was about yard "Maintenance" and completely missed the point of what I was addressing which was the inflexibility to work with this customer on a smaller design project! Don't waste your time with this company people! You'll regret it. Everything turned out well with my use of another local company who satisfied all of my yard needs. Once again Donna and Kurt Kauffman have worked their Magic in my yard. They made some minor changes to plants planted last spring when they landscaped my front and back yard. They also planted a Desert Willow in my front yard and it makes it all look so balanced. As always, they were professional, knowledgeable and so punctual. Unique Landscaping worked on my neighbors property, redirecting the drainage flow into my property next door, I would suggest that if you were to have work done by these people you have them pull permits from the city to make sure that the water control is in compliance. When I had them come out to view the soil erosion on my yard, Ms Kaufman didn't even acknowledge it but tried to get me to hire her to correct the situation that they created. Unfortunately I had to get the city involved to rectify the the drainage issue. read more

I can't say enough good things about Unique Landscaping. Last summer they came in and reimagined our backyard making it a veritable oasis for our home. I love it. They added steps and flagstone extension to our pool area, pushed back original landscaping to the perimeter to open up our yard, removed trees and created retaining walls as well as a beautiful clean water rock bed for drain off and so very much more. They created a space much more wonderful than anything I could have imagined. They were timely, reasonably priced, extremely thorough, professional and efficient. Even more - 2 weeks ago they called, wanting to do a "check up" on their work from last summer. They fixed a few shrubs that weren't doing well, educated me on my sprinkler system, advised me and just did, once more, a thorough job of making sure everything was in tip top shape. We have used Unique Landscaping (Kurt and Donna Kauffman) several times in the last 10 years to do various landscaping projects and have been very happy with both their design and installation services. We contracted with them in January 2014 for their maintenance services for the year and we have been very impressed with both their recommendations as well as their crews' work. Both Kurt and Donna came out and gave their opinions as to what needed to be done to get our yard in shape and Kurt comes by regularly to determine what maintenance work needs to be done at what time of year. Within a day or two of Kurt's work orders their crew performs the work and provides a written work order showing what work has been completed.
