I haven't had issues with my teeth or had any issues with different dentists, but since I've started seeing them I feel like I've been getting recommendations to do more work than probably is necessary since I've taken very good care of my dental health. They charged me over 500 dollars to get a mouth guard (since I grind at night which is true) that I lost shortly after getting it and tried to get them to make me a replacement immediately after I lost it at a work trip and they said it wouldn't fit and that I would need a whole new set of imprints which is incorrect. I would be skeptical of some of their recommendations. I also had a crown and it did fit correctly and they tried to fit it again and I continued to have pain with my jaw and overall the dentist didn't even come look at personally she just sent me to a specialist and said I "might" need a root canal. Now I might have a unique situation but it doesn't appear that way and this appears to be standard practice so I'll be finding a new dentist. The staff is generally friendly and the office is up to code but, at this point I don't think the dentist has done a competent job and I would not recommend them to any friends or family. Nor do they really seem like they care about the pain my teeth and jaw have been. read more

Dr Rholeder has created a care centered practice where the patient is definitely #1 on their priority list. I had a crown this morning that was the most comfortable, relaxed, and care forward service I've ever had.. every need was met /exceeded; every comfort was provided; and Dr R's open, responsive, and clear joy in her life and work was very clear... I've been going to Highland Smiles for many years and it's been wonderful to watch the practice evolve to what it is now under Dr R's leadership.. The staff is excellent, well- trained, and caring.. I have been seeing Dr Rohleder for 6 years. I had a crown less than a year that was loose. After going there & getting a X-ray I had to go see a endodontic. I had an infection and needed a root canal. When I went back to get a new crown. Rohleder said either she or the endodonist made a mistake and she would not charge me for the crown. I ended up calling the office to get them to pay for the crown as it never had anything to do with the root canal She was going to charge me for another crown when it was her error. I did get reimbursed but she never admitted her mistake. She only wanted to keep the money as that i what she cares about. Not her patients. Also her prices are high in comparison to other dentists. read more

I'm really bummed because I came here from a different dentist (who was terrible) hoping for a better experience. My first visit I paid $200 for a routine cleaning/check up WITH insurance. But that's not even the main issue why I'm writing in today. My bottom permanent retainer fell out a few weeks ago and I've called, left a voicemail, sent several emails and I am unable to receive help. Someone from the front desk finally called me back a couple days ago only to tell me he wasn't sure of the cost but asked if I wanted to get scheduled. I was like.. well I don't want to schedule if I'm not sure how much it will cost. He was like OK well your teeth are going to shift. YEAH I KNOW, THAT'S WHY I'M TRYING TO GET IT PUT BACK IN. Since then I've been following up again to see if there's anyone else who knows what the cost would be but haven't heard back from anyone still. Usually places will get back to you once you resort to leaving a review. I've messaged a couple orthodontists in the area but it seems people want to charge to create a whole new retainer instead of just putting back in the one I already have. Also, if there's anyone reading this who happens to know of a great dentist who can put the retainer back in and checks their messages please feel free to message me! **Update** Wow! You can see how this dentist treats her patients by her response alone. I've attached screenshots this time, with dates, to show how many times I had to reach out in order to get a response. It took 23 days to hear back today and only after leaving this review. NOWHERE does it mention they weren't sure if they could do it. A ballpark estimate? $200 is a lot different than $486. "It seems I have had similar responses from other offices I have contacted" What? The other responses that I mentioned already, were that they don't make permanent retainers anymore, only Invisalign. That is not even remotely close to what your response was? Nowhere in our messages in my screenshots does it mention that. I also have a different insurance than I did at my last appointment. No one bothered to ask about my insurance. So, as you can see, you are incorrect and I hope this provides more clarity for you. I was a patient here from approx 2016-2020. I left the practice because my insurance changed. Good: (1) Front desk staff are professional and efficient. (2) Hygienists were always very thorough with cleaning and acted engaged. (3) Dr. Rohleder is pretty fantastic. Very thorough, engaged, and did a nice job on a simple filling for me. Bad: (1) The practice charged a $25 PPE fee during COVID. This was the only healthcare office across all types (general, derm, etc.) that I saw do this and I found it opportunistic. (2) Dr. Arnold has an underdeveloped bedside manner and standard of care. I saw her twice (maybe three times) and each time she looked at my teeth, it was literally a drive-by. She didn't even touch any of the teeth with a tool and simply looked in my mouth and said "looks good." Yikes. It's also obvious that being engaging with patients is not natural to her. Dr. Arnold has been my dentist now for nearly 8 yrs! I don't exactly have the best teeth ever and thanks to the team at Highland Smiles I am all Smiles. Cleanings. Fillings. Crowns. They all happen. The thing I appreciate the most is their willingness to help me when things don't go as planned. A crown pops off when I am eating popcorn? They are so good to squeeze me in and get it fixed. I had a tooth brake and I needed a crown. They fit me in on a Monday which was great(the tooth broke on a Sunday). Super friendly staff. Painless procedure. I was explained in detail what was going on and what would be happening. I appreciated that. The Dentist was obviously busy but never felt like she was rushing and was really nice! All the staff was really nice and for a Monday which also was a holiday I appreciated that too. They even checked when I first called if I might be covered for this. I wasn't. Confession: I may or may not have skipped going to the dentist for about three years of adulthood. While getting dental work done is by no means something I look forward to, the folks at Highland Smiles have made it not so bad. I had a few friends suggest this office while I was searching for a Denver dentist, and I've been happy with my service over the past year. They filled the only cavity I've ever had, and while I was sort of (okay, really) nervous, it was super easy and painless (and they give you great throwback tunes to listen to!). Their hygienists do a really thorough job with cleanings, and Dr. Rohleder is sweet and easy to talk to. I'm also about to go through the (dreaded) process of getting my wisdom teeth out, and the staff at Highland Smiles was really helpful in navigating the implications of surgery and my insurance. Though I'll be due for my next appointment before the year is over, they gave me some options in case I reach my benefit limit for the year. I thought this was really helpful information and kind of them to share it! Parking can be a bit of an issue in that part of town, so I suggest getting there earlier than you think you need to. As some other reviewers have mentioned, they'll will email, call and text you to make sure you make it to your appointment. I'm a busy lady and appreciate that sort of follow up, but can understand how it could come off as a little much. Beware of their 4-day / 34-hour work week! Also, beware of their many 5 star reviews to keep an overall high yelp rating. These two are hustlers not to be trusted. Please Read this review BEFORE having any major dental work done by these amateur dentists. For the record, I have great teeth, orthodontics when I was a teenager and filings that were about 25 years old. I began seeing Highland Smiles and Dr. Jennifer Rohleder when they were still a very small office and because they were rated in 5280 Magazine as one of the Top Dentists. However, their business model shifted once they decided to expand their office space and exponentially increase their chairs. It was a 2 year expansion and one would guess included a large small business loan. Anyway, about 2015/2016 is when the Highland Smiles "volume game" with bigger ticket dental cases started. I was told my old filings should be removed and should have crowns to save the tooth even though there was no major cavities. So, I was suckered into their crown install game. During the course of 3 years, I had 4 crowns put in. Each crown resulted in root canal within 6 months. Fast forward to present, I am seeing a top notch dentist who has had to replace and redo all 4 of Dr. Rohleder's crowns. He stated the teeth had aggressive work done to them which was not needed. Also, there was a lot of cement left on sides and edges of crowns along with my bite had been screwed up and misaligned for past 3 years due to the heights of crowns. Finally, there was little to no surface on crowns for upper/lower teeth to catch /lock with my jaw closed. Some additional background. The last two crowns Dr. Rohleder "replaced' was in 2019 and 2020 where she removed the crowns by drilling them out but then never came back to put in the replacement crowns. I find out this critical task was left to the technician/hygienist. I asked and never received an answer as to why the dentist would not come back to double check her overall work as well as my bite. This place is now just like a national franchise dental chain and have a very similar business operation model. Their ethics and honesty are questionable while they try to get as many people in and out of a chair in a day with minimum attention to quality for the patient. If you do not believe this review, check out these dentists vehicles in back parking lot...nearly $200K worth of cars. Also, being a small business, how do you afford to only be open 4 days a week and most of the month of December each year, with very large financial overhead? Simple, you perform quick, shotty work to as many patients as you can and bill as many insurance companies as possible 4 days a week.   If this review can convince just one person to avoid going to this dental practice and avoid the huge expenses, headaches and time, it is worth my effort. Also, if the 5280 Magazine would seriously wake up and not give these two dentists top awards until they can demonstrate sustainable quality results, it would be appreciated because they are probably some of the worst dentists in Denver. As a kid my mom worked in a Dentist office. She would always share horror stories about the number of bad Dentists out there, and the trauma it inflicted on people. I was lucky , she worked for one of the best. When I moved to Denver I struggled to find service on par with what I had grown up with. Fortunately my wife found Highland Smiles.
