I went in a couple of years ago to get a couple spots corrected from some bonding I had had done. The office checked and confirmed that my insurance would be accepted prior to my arrival. After an exam and X-rays, I was told that the office had made a mistake, and that my insurance would not be accepted. The dentist then told me that because that was their error, I would not be charged for the services. Fast forward 6 months, I began getting bills and payment demands for the visit. I was told by the office staff that they would look into the issue, and I was never contacted again. Bills kept arriving, and I am still dealing with them. As a person is sales, it is important for me to not only clearly communicate with my customers, but to also ensure that my promises are kept. I would not recommend not because of the dentist or bedside manner, but because the office staff doesn't seem to be able to communicate, properly review and confirm insurance, and keep its promises. read more

From the moment I spoke with them on setting up an appt to the moment I walked out the door after my appointment, I felt like everyone cared and really enjoyed their work and client care. I asked it they were a delta dental provider and was told yes no qualifications about being a premier provider. All I wanted was to get my teeth cleaned what I got was an exam a full mouth X-ray and a bill for $57.00. I never got my teeth cleaned and feel ripped off because I specifically asked about insurance coverage when making the appointment. This place is using deceptive practices to get your money. Wife, kids and I had been patients of Mountain View Dental (MVD) for years. Dr. Running sold this practice a few years ago and after giving them a chance, we won't be back. Our first experience with the new owners was a routine cleaning for wife, son and I. It wasn't great and the staff was cold and unfriendly. We each decided it was time to move on - but then got at least three notices asking us to leave a positive review. After a few months, we got notice our next cleaning appointments were coming up in about a month. Each of us canceled within a day of the notice. About 2 months later I received a bill from MVD for cancelling my appointment and it was marked past due. I was pretty upset and took the time to call about this and also to explain why we were leaving. The receptionist said she wouldn't pass along the message to call me until I told her what it was about. Finally told her it was personal and she agreed to pass along the message. When one of the dentists called me back, I explained to him why we were leaving. He apologized, claimed he had no idea about the staff issues and asked us to reconsider and do our next appointment and this time would assign "the best" hygienist; he also removed the so called past due cancellation charge. We reluctantly agreed and went to the cleaning appointments. Each of us had a bad experience, this hygienist was more focused on taking pictures of our teeth with a new camera they just got. With our son, she was in such a hurry that she left the gritty debris on his teeth and also broke off a piece of dental floss between his teeth which she didn't remove. He said the dentist even looked in his mouth and missed the grit and dangling dental floss and he was upset and said he wouldn't go back. Wife had a similar experience, same time spent taking pictures of her teeth, she was running out of time and literally tried to shove a bunch of x rays into her mouth to try to get it done fast. The dentist told us again that each of us that we had good teeth and good oral hygiene - this will be important later. At this appointment wife was told that some work that Dr. Runnings had done previously had to be redone soon. She didn't want to do it but agreed and was quoted over $1300 to do the work! She got the work done over several appointments. At the end of the last session she was again told that we had good teeth and excellent oral care. At this appointment he also told her that he had rehired a new business manager and office staff because he had gotten complaints about his previous staff - when he told me that he had no idea there were problems. We got notice of the next upcoming cleaning appointments. Both my son and I said no more and we cancelled and I transferred my records. My wife said she would do it one more time and move on. Big mistake. She then had the same hygienist and this time she probed her mouth for a short time and declared that she had severe plaque and would require a deluxe cleaning, cost about $1300 (where have I heard that amount before). Wife was shocked and asked about how this was possible when each time we went in the dentist complimented us on our good oral hygiene as recent as a month or two before this appointment. We could go literally for years without even a minor cavity. Something didn't add up. Then the dentist came in before she left and didn't even look in her mouth, just went along with the diagnosis from the hygienist. But there's more- as she was leaving the receptionist told her that there was no charge for that visit and said "you have a credit balance on your account". Wife asked how that was possible and she said "you overpaid on on of our visits". How about they overcharged her, knew about this and kept the money! Most companies if they overcharge apologize and refund your money. Wife tried to ask how much was overpaid and why and got no answer. The receptionist then handed her an advertising flyer and said it was for the new dental membership plan where you can get reduced rates for routine services. Then she put a contract in front of her and said "you can sign this now". Wife said she'd think about it and then left. Why not charge a fair price for these services instead of making people sign a legal document? She cancelled the appointments they made for the deluxe cleaning and all of us decided that was enough. We are business consultants and coaches and not sure what's going on here but often if a company isn't doing well financially, they think it's time to charge the customers they do get as much as possible. Finally, their business card shows things like dental awards for 9 years, they have only owned this company for a few years and the awards were from Dr. Running's time. Dr. Runnings is also shown on the homepage with these people implying he is either involved or endorses their work. We also felt that Dr. Runnings was skilled and ethical and sorry that he sold this practice. We won't be back. read more

I love these people. Great staff, many of whom have been there since I first moved to the US and had my first appointment almost 9 years ago, which in itself is telling. I've come to know everyone from the admin team, hygienists, dental assistants and doctor as though they are part of my extended family. Chris at the front desk is wonderful, kind and super efficient. Dr Runnings is always very friendly and bubbly, which puts me at ease. During my time as a patient, I have had extractions, restorations and a crown, along with my regular dental care. I came to them with a debilitating fear of anything dentist related. This incredibly compassionate team worked with me to a point where I can happily walk in the door with zero fear. The office offers sedation and gas for people like me that needed a little help. Their general demeanor, though, is what won me over. Their integrity and kindness just shines through. I feel safe and cared for in their hands. With their help, I haven't felt the need for any sedation or gas for the last few years. I would strongly recommend them to any nice people that need a dentist in the area. read more

Making a switch was hard for me, but Dr. Runnings was recommended as being a gentle and kind dentist, I cannot agree more. I needed a new dentist after having some trouble with the local Comfort Dental. I chose Mountain View because they are nearby and they are in my network. I was impressed with the professional and friendly staff. The hygienist explained what she was doing and talked to me throughout the cleaning.
