I love it here I have always been so scared of visiting the dentist and never really went for most of my childhood/ teenage years. So, going as an adult with insurance now, I was still scared. However, I've been coming here for 2 or 3 years, and I love it. I live almost an hour away now, but I'm committed to never going to another dentist. I get excited to come in because I'm never shamed, belittled, or embarrassed in my appointments. The staff is so kind, the office is super clean, and I love the murals too! Also, Molly is the sweetest!! As a patient, it sucks that I can't ask her questions back since my mouth is open, lol. I would avoid this place at ALL COSTS. I cannot believe how outrageous, frustrating and disappointing this office has been. I have already asked for my records and am switching dentists at the time of posting this. Here is a very long history of my experience proving these were not one-offs, but repeated errors and repeated poor customer service. I have gone to the dentist every 6 months for my 28 years of life and have never had such a horrible experience. Firstly, I've unfortunately left close (or in) tears over the comments made about my teeth at every routine cleaning since (and my teeth are relatively normal, straight and white although small). The upset has come over the constant commentary above my head both to me and each other on how much "wear" my teeth have and how bad that is at my age, etc...not something you want to hear as you're taking the necessary steps to help that. Also hence why I'm diligent about wearing my nightgaurd/retainers and coming to my regular cleanings. The wear has come from teeth chips playing sports earlier in life and grinding my teeth at night. The comments have made me feel helpless about my dental future at times. I always feel incredibly bad about myself by the comments so I finally said OK to thousands of dollars of cosmetic dental work this past August to help change the look of them. Their scare tactics worked on me. At the next appointment, which was at the end of August 2022 in the middle of my work day, I waited for 50 minutes in the waiting room. The receptionist was very apologetic and said it was her fault for overbooking and not understanding each appointment and how long they would take, but I also have a job to get to. We ordered new retainers and a nightgaurd in that appointment, which I went to pick up three weeks from then and they promised I wouldn't wait that long...at the next appt, I sat for 42 minutes before being taken back and the waiting room was jam packed with people they were apologizing to for the delays. Totally understand that things happen, but I have never had a wait less than 25 minutes from my appt time at this Sloans Lake location. And what makes it worse is I feel as though my appointments are rushed- I don't feel like I have the time to properly ask all my questions with the doctor. I have also had problems since my appointment in August with my insurance over Sloans Lake Dental not submitting the claims properly- my insurance has asked me multiple times to ask them to resubmit their claims with the correct service codes and I never get a response back. More-so, after the various procedures done in August, one which was a gum laser where they have to separate your teeth with a rubber mask, I still had a piece of the neon green rubber stuck in my gums for 10 full days after and had to go see a dentist in Massachusetts to get it out since I was in a wedding. They were apologetic about it, but downplayed it. See the photo- how was something like that missed? It's in the front of my teeth and neon! I had already thought at this point, I NEED to find another dentist. But I had yet another appt with them already scheduled... I came back for my two week check-in for my nightgaurd and they made too many adjustments during the appointment that the nightgaurd quite literally BROKE so they had to start from scratch and take a whole new scan- the appointments to get one simple night-guard will total 5 or 6 by the end. Update- I need my nightgaurd I've already paid for from them so I'm seeing this through but for the sake of sparing someone else this headache, I'm writing it down. This is now weeks later and they messed up my appointment again. What was told to me over the phone is not what was entered into their system. They admitted they made a mistake so called to reschedule yet again and had all my information wrong. This was for (yes the same!) nightgaurd fitting and they kept saying they had to take a new scan even though they already did that and the previous person I had talked to at their office confirmed the nightgaurd had already been rescanned, created and delivered. 10 weeks for a simple nightgaurd. April 2023 here- I had a recurring appt for a cleaning with Dr. Pollack already pre-scheduled so decided to go. Not sure why, regretting that now. I checked both in-person when I made it and online that it would be with her and not another dentist since she knows the history of my procedures, they assured me yes. And here I am, scheduled with another dentist who isn't even here so I can't even ask a dentist a question. They scheduled an appt without a dentist present! It was a routine cleaning appt and they said they'd just get my scans to the dentist another time who would follow up later. I asked about asking a dentist questions on various treatments I'd previously requested and they said that would have to be another appt. I'm finally done and free! read more

Had a great experience until I needed more than a cleaning. The dentist gave me two options and when I chose the one I could afford and wasn't 3,000 out of pocket they stopped responding to my calls and texts. Never heard from them again. So I would say good for basic cleanings but nothing more! Luckily found another office that was able to work with me for fixing my fillings. read more

I am new here and did not have a dentist yet, so I was horrified when dental pain began in a cracked tooth. I was able to get in the very next morning. I was there for more than three hours, for a root canal and a temporary cap. Everyone was so kind! They applied my crappy dental insurance to the total, and what I paid was quite reasonable. Most amazing of all, is that the only pain I felt was the initial shot of the numbing agent. They kept me apprised about everything that they were doing and couldn't have been nicer or more reassuring. All the costs and my out-of-pocket payment were thoroughly explained before they even started. I'm so glad I found them. Love, love, love having a female dentist. Plus the office music was great; I've never had Gwen Stefani and Beyoncé accompany the whine of the drill. read more

Update: Both (unnecessary) crowns they performed on me in 2019 have fallen off and had to be replaced. The stumps of my former teeth were both shaped incorrectly to hold the crowns, so naturally they fell off incredibly prematurely. 2 years later and I'm still being haunted. I'm literally disgusted I paid this clinic so much money to ruin my mouth. PLEASE read the other reviews and see how many people say they had such a similar experience with unnecessary dental work. I'm sorry but this is going to be a very long winded review, but after breaking down in tears to my mom after the appointment, I am deciding that no one should have the terrible experience that I had. This was my first and probably last time visiting this dentist office. The only reason this is two stars instead of one is because Dr. Rojas was very kind to me after I was on the verge of tears after the dental hygienist was not only forceful with the x-rays, but also destroyed my gums. Just to preface, I take pride in my dental hygiene by brushing and flossing my teeth twice a day, and I use fluoride mouthwash 2-3 times a week. I haven't had a cavity since 2010 and ever since I had it filled, I've been very aware about maintaining my dental health. I decided to come here because my parents both get their dental checkups here and I moved far away from my prior dentist, and they are one of the few dental offices near where we live that takes our insurance. I just needed a quick checkup and cleaning, and I expected to be in and out no problem. When I had my x-rays done, the woman doing them was very forceful when sticking the bite in my mouth, and actually pressed down so hard on my bottom gums that I had to tell her to stop. She just told me that she doesn't have this problem with other patients and I need to relax. After that experience, she went to clean my teeth. I have had braces in the past and it caused my teeth to be overly sensitive, so I was sure to let her know about that. She went straight to scraping my teeth, without even getting them wet first to loosen and buildup! It sounded like nails on a chalkboard and I was in so much pain. Then she spent another 30 minutes digging underneath my gums and ridiculing me for not flossing because my gums were "swollen". Since I consider myself to be quite good at maintaining my flossing routine, I think that the swelling and bleeding may have been caused by the picking and hacking at my gums for 30+ minutes. I was in tears about to cry when she was done, and I managed to sneak a picture of what her workstation looked like afterwards. It was a war zone covered in the blood from my murdered gums. Then she tells me I have seven cavities! I had no dental pain prior to coming in but she was insisting that I get them all filled as soon as possible, as well as get a mouthguard for my "teeth grinding" (which I have never had a problem with before), and get my wisdom teeth pulled. I was completely shocked since I had no prior pain or issues. Dr. Rojas saw me for maybe 5 minutes but it was the best 5 minutes I had while there. He had a very calming presence which made me less focused on the throbbing pain coming from my bloody gums. I was concerned about my newly diagnosed cavities and he somewhat calmed my nerves. After he left there were problems processing my insurance, even though I had called in advance to make sure they accepted it and they said yes. I had to leave because I had somewhere to be, but they said that they would email with the price of all the cavities filled after the insurance was processed. I left with my mouth in the pain that it would have been in if I actually had seven cavities is now the end of the day and they have not emailed me back. I came to Yelp to see if anyone had the same bad experience that I did, because I wanted to make sure that I wasn't overreacting. After reading all of the reviews, I will not be coming back to this dental practice to get my cavities filled or my wisdom teeth pulled. I hope I don't have any problems getting my records from them, as I have read from some reviews that this practice was withholding them from patients for imaginary legal reasons. I will update this review once I get a second opinion from a dental practice that is not all about up-selling unnecessary items (like a mouthguard). I am very disappointed with my experience and I hope they improve so that no one has to go through the pain and discomfort I went through. UPDATE: Changing from 2 stars to 1. Went to another dentist today, and they said I only had 3 cavities instead of 7, and the other 5 were actually just spots from my braces. I was also told that a mouthguard isn't necessary, but if I wanted to spend an extra $300 I could if I wanted to. I was scared after my visit to Sloans Lake Dental about a week ago, but now I am feeling a lot better now that I have visited a place that knows what they are talking about. read more

I've been thinking a lot about what to say in this review and it's definitely been a tough one for me. This was my first time going to Sloan's Lake Dental. I found them via Yelp and my insurance portal and it seemed like it would be a great place. I needed to find a new dentist after switching insurance and had high hopes coming in here. I met with the dentist, who was open and communicative and kind. He told me I needed three fillings, which I already knew about. He recommended getting them done as soon as possible. We talked about how I was going to be in a friend's wedding the upcoming week and he reassured me that the procedure on two of them would be very simple, quick and straight forward. I had nothing to worry about. We could do the third one after the wedding. Next, I went over to the hygienist, which is where things went downhill. While very informative, the hygienist was incredibly aggressive in my mouth. I have had a lot of dental work done and am regular with my visits and I just sat there thinking "what did I do to piss this guy off?" At one point, I recounted procedures I had done in recent years and he clearly didn't believe me and asked the gal at the front desk to confirm that I was being honest. She came back and told him verbatim what I had said. That was a little annoying, but I'm sure he had reasoning. Maybe he could have been a bit more discreet instead of making me feel like he didn't trust me. There was no need for how aggressive he was being with the tools though. When he numbed my mouth, something went horribly wrong. My face was numb, that's for sure. But I spent the past 16 days with a gigantic bruise across my bottom left jaw. And I was the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding, looking like a domestic abuse victim. Such a bummer. My face was swollen for 6 days, until I got back into the office and a different dentist gave me a steroid. When I talked to the other dentist, she more or less described it as a freak accident. They offered me nothing to make up for the fact that I was in a good deal of discomfort for more than two weeks and when I called in after the swelling subsided but the bruise grew, the lady at the front desk said she couldn't think of any way to make up for it, but she was sorry. What about refunding me the $200 out of pocket that I paid? Or a free service? Or anything!??!?! If you mess up someone's face, especially after telling them there would be nothing to worry about, the least you can do is offer the work for free. Yikes guys. I appreciated the clean facilities and the kind dentist, but this was a terrible experience and they had multiple opportunities to go out of their way and try to make it less awful. ALSO - if you go look at their 5 star reviews, they're mostly from people who have only a few reviews on Yelp. Interesting. read more

Sloan's Lake Dental - Here's the bruise on my cheek after TWO WEEKS. The apparent freak accident from a very aggressive hygienist. - General Dentistry Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Avoid at all costs. They aggressively push treatment on you with scare tactics. Also, my husband and I both have had to get filling/crown work redone at a new dentist based on the bad work Sloan Lake originally did. (This is coming from someone who has had tons of teeth work/issues and have been to tons of dentists my whole life) I'm writing this review just as I get back from my new dentist downtown who had to reset a crown done by Sloan Lake that had become loose after only a few years (this has never happened to me before with my other crowns). In the past, Sloan Lake aggressively pushed me to get a different tooth surgically removed ASAP and replaced with an implant and scared me about the possibility of infection and disease. My new dentist presented different options about when to have it removed and it would likely be in next 5-10 years and the reasons why. I'm now SO happy with my decision to get a second opinion and not have Sloan Lake remove my tooth. Lastly, a dental hygienist doing my cleaning at Sloan Lake told me I had beginning signs of gingivitis at one point even though I have never heard this from any other dentist/hygienist in my life and scared me into buying an expensive electric toothbrush from their office because of it. We found out months later that they used the same tactic on a friend who also got talked into buying one of their toothbrushes. read more

Surprised that not even one of them thought to introduce themselves. I had to ask each for their name. The new office at least on this visit was real loud. Anything they can do to absorb some of the reverberations of so many machines bouncing around in an echoey place would help. Shaved my fiances tooth so low while giving him a root canal that he now has to get an implant. Told me I had 7 cavities AFTER giving me a crown on one of my molars because they insisted I needed it. Went to a new dentist and had ONE cavity. Probably never needed the crown they gave me. I'm very young and they took advantage of me. So unprofessional and just want to steal your insurance money. Years later I'm dealing with issues with the crown they gave me. Multiple infections. Thank goodness I found a reliable dentist to help me and tell me the truth about scammers such as sloanes lake. Fun inviting crew working here, unfortunately I would not trust them with my teeth or mouth in general. They want to make money, but I don't feel they have the experience to do dental work right. I have only had a handful of cavities my whole life- my first visit they said I had 10 cavities!! I was shocked! I asked to see the X-rays and they very quickly pointed to them and showed me nothing but explained that their trained eye could see it. With their fear based sales tactics, I was convinced I had big issues with my teeth( all of a sudden) so I purchased the in office fluoride treatment and the $45 fluoride toothpaste from them as well. I also went with a bleaching system because they offered it free with a yelp checkin- it took the assistant 3 attempts and finally the dentist came in just to make a cast of my teeth for the bleaching trays. After 5 fillings (done by an assistant and never checked by a dentist), a crown that was quickly glimpsed at by the dentist when it was finished, and 3 visits to 'fix' the bite and look at the fillings as I was having a lot of pain, I decided not to go back. Fast forward 6 months and no chewing on the right side of my mouth, I went to a different dentist who replaced 3 of the fillings and I could chew again, pain free, within 3 days. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for your dental care. My entire experience was unpleasant and I am suspicious they may be over diagnosing cavities. The only pro was that they have a lot of availability, which I now understand a bit better. First, when I came in to check in the receptionist was so distracted by the lunch order for the office, that I stood their awkwardly waiting to check in for quite some time and then she forgot to give me the new patient paperwork altogether, which further delayed an already delayed appointment. The staff appeared to be running nearly 20-30 minutes late (at least for my appointment). To make matters worse, the hygienist was inexperienced and couldn't seem to position items correctly resulting in additional x-rays. Were it once or twice, fine. It was not... However, what was most concerning was that I was told I had nearly 10 cavities (have had one in my entire life) and Dr. Pollack was very impatient and limited in her explanation as to whether here were truly that many that needed to be filled. After asking to see the films (as a physician myself), I was shown a couple and told they all absolutely needed to be filled. I went elsewhere, was told I had two that probably should be filled and one spot to watch. I understand variability in practice, but that is extreme. I will not be back and would actively steer people away from this office. read more

I've never wrote a review before, but I've had such negative experiences with this office that I feel compelled to write one. I recently moved to the area and was in need of a dentist for my 6 month cleaning and a new retainer as my permanent retainer had recently came unglued and fell out. At my cleaning they told me I needed four fillings and were quite persistent that they needed to schedule them to be filled as soon as possible (they quoted me at $1100 for the fillings). This is odd because I have never had a cavity before, brush my teeth twice a day, and get cleanings every 6 months and at my last appointment at my old dentist was told my teeth were in great shape. When I brought up needing a new retainer, they suggested I needed Invisalign on my upper teeth, which was strange considering I've had a retainer in since I got my braces off over 10 years ago and my teeth have not moved at all. My next experience was coming in to pick up my retainer. My original appointment was late in the afternoon and they called to see if I could come in earlier in the day, which was fine by me. I arrived and proceeded to wait for 45 minutes before an office manager informed me I could just try on my retainer in the bathroom to make sure it fit. The hygienists and office staff were very pleasant and helpful both times, but the management and sketchy practices in which the office is ran is a huge red flag. I will not be back and would caution any new patient about unneeded services this office might push. read more

I'm getting charges from 2 years ago they already cleared, and not they are low on money and trying to get me to pay again after losing "all their information". The most inept, irresponsible, on the verge of fraudulent and should be reported. Not only that, but I went for a cleaning where they brushed and flossed my teeth and told me i was good to go - i've never had it not include a full teeth check. This was truly the worst experience I've ever had in a dental office. I called for an emergency appointment due to extreme sensitivity I was having because I have receding gums. This is not a self-diagnosis; my previous dentist confirmed that I do have receding gums. When I told the dentist this, she said I have receding gums because I need Invisalign. Go figure that this office is the self-proclaimed #1 Invisalign office in Denver. Anyways, I said I simply needed the topical gel applied to alleviate the pain I was feeling. They told me the best they could do was flouride. How the hell is flouride supposed to help my sensitivity? They didn't even THINK to put a desensitizing gel. Am I, as the patient, supposed to tell a doctor how to treat my issue? Long story short, I was there for almost 3 hours just for them to NOT SOLVE MY ISSUE AT ALL and tell me that I need Invisalign. I'm done with Sloan's Lake. Last year, Dr. Pollack had been helping me with some TMJ issues and made me a mouth guard, which wasn't properly fitted. I was going in to get pieces added every two weeks, which continually fell out, and have now permanently fallen off. Then, Dr. Pollack gets me all excited about potentially getting a discount on Invisalign for a study she was conducting. I was excited but didn't know where to start, so the young blonde woman with short hair at the front desk tells me she'll call me to go over insurance. Never got that call. Months later, I schedule a cleaning with them, planning on asking about the Invisalign. They say the deal is over. I said that wasn't fair due to their lack of compliance and communication; they offer me $1000 off and tell me what a GREAT deal I'm getting and I have less than one week to decide. That's a big financial decision to make in so little time, especially when I'd been expecting and financially planning on having half off. They would not give me this offer (as if it's really going to cost them anything; they basically rob people of their money). Another thing? They diagnosed me with something I'd never been diagnosed with. I was shocked. Th told me I had jaw bone loss. Guess what? My new, highly-accredited dentists looked at me like I was crazy when I told them this and said I had no such thing, that my teeth and gums were very healthy. I always had a feeling they were lying about that to get me to pay. Turns out, they were. Do the many reviews on Yelp by patients claiming they were falsely diagnosed with something alarm you? They should. If you're smart, you'll look elsewhere for some even partially decent dental care (you won't find that here). read more

I've had dental work done in Tennessee, Virginia, and now Colorado. Having just hit the big 5-0, I've had a good bit of work done in each state at various practices. Sloan's Lake is by the far best dental practice I've ever dealt with. First and foremost, they're clinically excellent. Both Dr. Pollack and Dr. Rojas have a passion for their craft and it shows in the uniformly high quality of the care they deliver. I've never had anything less than full success with any of the procedures they've performed. They're quite simply outstanding. Additionally, Dr. Pollack, Dr. Rojas, and the staff are just fantastic people. I don't know if I could ever call going to the dentist "fun" but I had as good a time as I possibly could have on each of my visits. Another way to say it would be that while it's not as fun as a Broncos game but for a dental office, it rocks. This last point may be the most important: The dentists here have a holistic approach. They're less interested in treating symptoms -- and let's face it, that's what most dentists and doctors do -- than in treating the underlying causes of ailments or better yet heading the ailments off all together. I've learned that what goes on with our teeth, jaws, and all the other stuff up there has a huge impact on our overall health. By focusing on my holistic health, Sloan Lake has vastly improved not only dental health but my health overall. Their approach is different and I'm elated with the results. I went here for a checkup/cleaning. The dental assistant who did the cleaning was friendly and thorough. However, I felt the dentist and front desk were scaring me/pushing me into services I definitely didn't need. Will find another place to go that doesn't make dental care about sales. read more
