This experience went from GREAT to I am NO longer a customer/patient and will never return. I don't know if what they do is legal, but it is definitely not ethical. The issue with my first visit was when the hygienist asked if I wanted a fluoride treatment. So, not knowing it'd be EXTRA, because she didn't tell me, I was like... "OK". I didn't know until after my appointment was over that she was trying to upsell me into extra services without disclosure or letting me know how much. At the time, I thought she was confirming that I was ok with it (because some people have concerns with too much fluoride). I don't work in the dental industry. I don't know what I don't know. I also do not recall any other dentist ever asking me this question, so also thought it was something they confirmed and/or provided at this newer office. When I go to the counter to "check out" , she says I owe $40.00 which was surprising as this was a covered visit for a standard cleaning. That's when I realize what that hygienist pulled. I could ask if you want mushrooms & onions with your steak and not tell you it was 40 extra dollars, too. Would they like that?? I sure didn't think a few minutes it took for a "fluoride treatment" would be $40, either. Don't try to sell things to people as if it's part of the service by not saying how much it will cost, period. I had a filling redone as I've had several times in the past. All of my fillings are from when I was a young child, so they deteriorate and I am used to needing to get them redone. I have never experienced having to pay hundreds of dollars for the procedure as I've always had dental insurance. They told me this huge price, and so I asked why would I need to pay you $400-$500 for new fillings? My insurance should cover 80%, and they said back to me NO JOKE -- they are charging me FULL PRICE "up-front" and will refund me "later" after my insurance has paid their part. I do NOT consent to paying money that I do not owe! And why should I, as the patient, be out any money for weeks and/or months before the insurance was applied? That's not on me, that's the insurance that takes long! Like, what is this? I have never at any insurance whether dental, medical, eye, tell me that I pay full price for everything out-of-pocket up-front and then I have to wait for a REFUND after the insurance processes? What in the world is this nonsense. I the patient, your dang customer, why would I hand over my dollars for you to hang on to INTEREST-FREE (are they making interest on MY money? -- while we wait for insurance to process, if so, that would be theft as that is my money and therefore my interest). Is this LEGAL? It's definitely NOT ethical & unheard of. Then, when the company I worked for changed hands, so did the insurance provider. Wynkoop Dentistry caught wind of it (somehow) prior to a cleaning appointment and texted me to say I better go upload new info to some random link platform or else I'm gonna pay full price. Again with this always trying/threatening to make me pay full price?? I had it at that point. I'm at work and I have stuff to do and if I don't do their clerical work for their office then my punishment is to pay them money for my "free" cleaning? You can absolutely forget it! They pay staff by the hour to do that work and if it's more convenient for ME to give you new info when I come for my appointment, that's what we're doing. Learn some humility - this office gets paid because I choose to go there and be their patient/customer. They don't get to make demands or threats when I'm the reason they're making an income. Then they have the audacity to say they're sending me these ridiculous texts so that my appointment goes "smooth" and so that I don't have to "worry". I had NO worry!!! None, zero, zilch. I know with 100% certainty of my insurance coverage. The [previously nonexistent] worry came AFTER they sent me these text threats! It would have been "smooth" otherwise if I came to my appointment & provide the updated insurance then, like other offices do! I liked it is a very modern office, but they're passing on costs to patients it seems to me. I'm sure the dentists don't blink at fancy meals, live in multi-bedroom/bathroom homes, and probably have second vacation homes while I have a 1BR apt, so no they don't need "my" money that bad. There were some other positives I had prior them trying to basically extort money from me, but forget it at this point, those positives are washed away since I won't return. This is all female dentistry, too, so something I'd want to support and it's really freaking sad this is how these ladies operate. There is not a shortage of dentists and I can find a new one in 5 minutes. Y'all ought to be ashamed and I'm really curious if this is something the governing dental licensing bodies would say are appropriate business practices. read more

I had two crowns put on by Dr Janelle and Dr Holland and they understood what I was nervous about and made sure I was comfortable throughout both appointments. Merita and Cassie assisted them in my appointments and they were so comforting. Even remembering what parts stressed me out. My husband mentioned to me that I was snoring so I googled a myo functional doctor and Wynkoop dental popped up so I thought I'd give them a try. They had me fill out a questionnaire about my sleeping habits and how I felt during the day. I scored pretty low on the sleep apnea test and the dentist made it clear that she was not happy about my answers. She kept rewording the question to try to get me to answer it in their favor and literally stared me down when I didn't give the answer she wanted. She looked at my tongue for 0.25 seconds and told me it was too big for my mouth and that i absolutely had sleep apnea because of it. Then she told me I had to get a laser treatment done to make my tongue smaller. It would cost $1,000 initially and I'd have to come in and pay more money the rest of my life to maintain the results. I went to my usual dentist who I trust because I wanted a second opinion. Two dentists in the office examined my tongue and said it was a normal size and they confirmed this $1k laser treatment was an absolute scam. This place uses scare tactics to try to rip you off. Moving to a new city is hard, finding a new dentist is harder. I'll admit my mom found this place and made an appointment (she misses me), and she couldn't have picked a better place. Everyone at Wynkoop Dental was SO nice and the whole place was efficient, clean, and techy! The new patient process was thorough and the cleaning was painless! I just realized that I have been overcharged for regular 6 month cleanings (insurance covered) for 3 month periodontal treatments even though I only go every 6 months. Re: Do not go through Dr. Sarah F. One of the worst patient experiences I have ever had. As someone who has worked in health care, I know that offices and providers can use medical jargon to manipulate, scare and upsell services that are more expensive and not always necessary. Therefore, I make it a standard practice to get medical advice and consult with another professional for a second opinion. First, they were visibly frustrated that I was refusing to do recommended therapies in the office that day. Second, Dr. Sarah spoke down to me the entire visit when I was self advocating and just telling her I wanted to think about the procedures first. She then refused to do my general cleaning and I left in a state of disappointment and shock. I promptly called a friend of mine who is an oral surgeon and explained her recommendation, as well as the x-ray results and he confirmed this was an abuse of power and I did not need any deeper cleaning that would prevent the delivery of a routine service. Patients are in a vulnerable position seeking health services and deserve to be educated in a respectful manner and make informed decisions about their care. It's despicable that providers knowingly take advantage of their position and push extraneous procedures with little to no concern to patient cost. It destroys patient trust in our healthcare system even more than it already is and creates fear and lack of engagement in preventive care. This could just be the one provider, as I see that another reviewer mentioned Dr. Sarah. I wanted to support a women-led business, but please, consider not going to her. This obviously is not the first time she's attempted/succeeded in exploiting a patient. It's unethical and downright shameful. read more

I finished my Invisalign course and my last visit was to get laser teeth whitening and to pick up my retainers. Shastin did an awesome job by explaining the step by step process to me, setting the expectations as far as the discomfort level and results go, by giving me thorough after care instructions before and after the procedure, and by making sure to be careful and mindful the entire time (remembered to suction my saliva so I didn't drown! And checked in on me frequently to make sure I wasn't in pain, and communicated with me throughout). It was overall painless. I had some shooting pain a handful of times for a couple hours after, but it went away, and wasn't intolerable, moreso startling. My teeth look great thanks to your team. I've worked with many of your technicians(?) and they've all been very skilled, professional, and kind. Please tell Shastin I say thank you and that they're in the right career field :) read more

My new go-to dentist/orthodontist. The staff balances professionalism with friendliness. They are extremely thorough and do a great job explaining everything. As much as they explain, they also do a great job listening. Every member of the staff I've interacted with has been wonderful and easy to talk to. I have a fear of needles, and they have been very accommodating. (Great music both times I was there too). They also have better tech than any place I've been to in the past, and they have such attention to detail. They set up a treatment plan for me so I don't have to worry about figuring any of that out myself. Definitely not cheap, but worth the money. BEWARE - "Not all that glitters is gold" This place is indeed "all that", high-tech, fancy, etc. on the surface. But the integrity is not there. I thought I was going to be "one of those" on Yelp... the only one leaving a bad review amongst many many great ones. But quickly reading now through other 1 star reviews, I understand that I'm far from the only one with this experience. TL;DR - Made an appointment for a teeth cleaning for my elderly father, was offered to get the "new patient" promotion which included teeth cleaning and more. My father got the "more" but not the teeth cleaning and he was charged for this nonetheless. They are not willing to give him a teeth cleaning because they say that he needs a deep-clean (which costs ~$1600). I asked them to either give him the standard teeth cleaning or reimburse the full amount. They are not willing to do either. Read below for details. The charge is obviously being disputed. Is it a scam?! All these glowing 5 star reviews that sound so... perfect?! You decide. I called to schedule a teeth cleaning for my elderly father (84). The pleasant receptionist, Sierra, said they have a new patient promotion; for $280 he would have the cleaning and a bunch of other services (X-ray, examination etc.). I said 'sure, why not', not really paying attention to the details of those other services because all he/we really cared about was doing the teeth cleaning. He went to the appt. where they did all the "other services" but didn't do the teeth cleaning. Dr. Sarah gave the opinion that he needs a deep cleaning (~$1600) and needs to schedule that. At the end of his appointment I assume they explained matters to him (I was not there) but he couldn't really understand what they were telling him and just wondered why he didn't get the service for which he came. He did pay the $280 and left without getting any paperwork / receipt / summary of visit etc. I told him I would call to schedule the teeth cleaning portion of his visit as they probably just ran out of time. I got Sierra again, and to my surprise she said that she can't schedule a regular teeth cleaning because the dentist had recommended a deep-cleaning and they would not do a regular cleaning with such a diagnosis by her (Dr. Sarah). Having done routine teeth cleanings myself and also 1 deep clean many many years ago, I know how these things work. Deep cleaning is a good thing to do, and for some people it is more advised than others, but there is nothing preventing a dentist from doing a regular teeth cleaning even if he/she thinks that a deep clean is more suitable. On top of that, it is widely known that dentists/practices "push" these deep cleanings on patients as they charge a fortune for them and patients don't know to question this. Now, whether my father really needs a deep clean or not, is not the issue here, the issue is: He made an appointment for a teeth cleaning, which was offered for a price of $280 and would include new patient services, but he did not get the teeth cleaned. Sierra told me that someone would call me back. No one did. The following day I called again, Sierra said that Dr. Sarah had said she would get in touch with me. As I mentioned, she did not. Seeing that Sierra could offer no solutions, she put TresVon (sp?), the front desk manager, on the line. He was very courteous and explained that I was not presented with the full and accurate information for this promotion and that they normally don't make these appointments over the phone, but rather in person. I said I understand, and that they can either honor what they had presented to me on the phone, by doing a regular teeth cleaning for my father, or reimburse him the amount he paid. After a short hold during which he spoke with Dan (the business owner, I was told) TresVon said that the owner offered to reimburse my father $80, as a courtesy because of the misunderstanding. I told him that is not acceptable. There was no misunderstanding as far as we are concerned, just a gross misrepresentation of the promotion they are offering. Other reviewers mentioned this as well :( I think some would call it a scam... but I leave that to each their own. I was very very surprised that the response by the clinic wasn't an outright apology for misrepresenting their services and a sincere desire to make it right. The charge is being disputed and if there is no acknowledgment by the business for their misrepresentation, it will also be reported to the Bureau of Consumer Protection. read more

Not the experience I was hoping to get at Wynkoop. I learned about them because I was approached by Dr. Erinn cherry on LinkedIn. So I decided to give them a go since I was new in town and my dental insurance happened to cover them. Originally made an appointment for teeth cleaning which turned into the most interesting teeth cleaning I've ever had. From what I thought was going to be the additional teeth cleaning turned into them saying I had to use this laser to clean my teeth. Because they are the dentist and the professionals I decide to go with that, but it was very expensive. Not something that is covered by dental insurance as a typical teeth cleaning. I then made an appointment to get some cavities filled because I said I had about four of them. I ended up going to get three filled on one side but never came back for the other. The reason for that is because the way they did my filling they messed up my teeth. I was told that I would have some sensitivity on my teeth for a couple of days because they had to remove the cavity and fill it back. But at this point it has been over six months and I still have sensitivity in my teeth where I can't even floss in between the teeth that they fill the cavities in because it hurts with the sensitivity. Which leads me to believe that they did something wrong when fixing the cavities that I had. For me going to the dentist is a big trusting thing because you teeth are everything and if so I messes them up why would I go back. It's sad to say that I haven't been back to the dentist since, not just them but any, because I am afraid that going to the dentist again they're going to mess up my teeth even more. Was the dental office nice yes did it look very modern yes. But it is also very expensive. Typically when he go to the dentist 90% of the things are covered by dental insurance. I had a really good Dental insurance yet was still left paying a hefty price from them, stating that I need all these things done to my teeth when in all reality I probably did not. I'm not gonna lie not a place I would go back to get my teeth cleaned. And I typically go every six months as required to keep my teeth in tiptop shape. But Wynkoop has left me so scarred that I have been afraid to go back to the dentist since. read more

I was on a flight from San Francisco to Denver to my godson's graduation and cracked my tooth. I was in so much pain. I called Wynkoop Dentistry and they were able to get me in as soon as I landed. They took X-rays and were able to do some work on the tooth so I could make it through my trip and get home. The doctor wrote a prescription that helped so much with the inflammation. My experience stated of very well and ended poorly. I was coming in as a new patient and things were fine until the day of my appointment. I found out the day of my appointment that it was canceled because my new patient paperwork wasn't turned in. I didn't receive an email, a voice message, or a text message telling me that my appointment was canceled. This is very inconvenient that there was no communication regarding the cancellation of my appointment. I am extremely upset and will never go to this dental office again. PROS: the best dentist experience ever! CONS: it's still a dentist I have always dreaded going to the dentist... until I found Wynkoop Dentistry. I can't say enough good things about them - the doctors are great, the staff is nice, the technology they use is top notch, and their space/s are clean and modern. They really work to make you comfortable during procedures that are anything but. I recently moved out of state but still come back to Denver to go here because I can't stand the thought of going anywhere else. Dr. Erin is an all star! She is friendly, smart and thorough. I was told my entire life that orthodontics couldn't fix my smile and bite. Dr. Erin came up with an Invisalign plan that made my smile perfect in a year! Juan is a gem! Wynkoop Dental is an amazing place all around! Phoebe and Trez are always amazing at check in. If you send the office an email or give them a call they always get answers for you quickly and do everything they can to fit you into the schedule as needed, whether it's an emergency or just to accommodate patients' busy schedules. The entire care team is amazing as well! Before proceeding with any treatment they walk you through all your options and the pros and cons to help you arrive at the decision you're most comfortable with. The specialists they've referred me to for other treatment have been top notch as well. I've always struggled with sensitive gums and have never been great with flossing as a result. For a variety of reasons Dr. Caitlin recommended an easy in-office fluoride treatment, and since then my gums have felt so much better! I now floss consistently without pain or discomfort for the first time in my life thanks to the team at Wynkoop Dentistry! My teeth feel so much healthier! read more

Like a lot of people I hadn't been to the dentist since before Covid began back in March of last year. This office is incredible!! I called in on 8/5 to inquire about a new patient appointment and they were able to get me in on 8/10, so the turn around was very quick! You are able to fill out the new patient form online, and it shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes. I was very impressed with all the state of the art equipment they had in the rooms. Seriously I think my old dentist in Westminster was living in the Stone Age, this office had literally every tool and machine you could think of! The worst. I can't say enough poor things about my experience here and although, I think it was more on how unprofessional the dental hygienist were that makes me never want to come here again. So I get there today and the dental hygienist starts reviewing my chart and none of the information that was she discussing was even about me. I got a filling two months ago and she goes "Yeah so last time you were here, we discussed about doing a filling." She didn't even know that we did one nor did she know why I was even there that day. They scheduled me entirely too soon to even come in for my cleaning - as in less than 2.5 months. Why did the gals at the front schedule me? They are so clueless here and she kept trying to play it off and needless to say, go elsewhere.
