Attended a wedding here recently and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised! Getting there was a hike from where we're from. It was easy to find during the afternoon but I can see how some people can get lost here at night since the area is very dark with no street lights. The entrance was very an unassuming so my first impression was just meh. The courtyard where the cocktail and hors d'oeuvres were held was just plain. The food was good though. Very tasty. Then we were moved to the reception hall. Wow. They did a great job decorating the place! I know the wedding was small but the location was perfect for it. The food was delicious as well! read more

This place and venue is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most beautiful escapes I have ever been to for a wedding. In early December one of my former coworkers held his wedding here along the Hudson Valley line area. . . . excuse me . . . . but I'm not familiar with anything in New York outside of the city. But MAN is it gorgeous out here. There was a castle on a hilltop in the distance! Small mountains or very big hills surrounding sweeping planes of golf course green. The back area had a fire pit and seating while inside there were epic chandeliers, toasty fireplaces, and long tables set up along the sides with a large dance hall area for the middle in a giant hall. The actual wedding took place in a greenhouse like atrium attached and covered outside. Seriously, gorgeous building and location for any special occasion or wedding. The service was impeccable. Waiters came by for the toasting hour before dinner with little appetizers and canapes. There was some kind of delicious mapley fatty bacon in there somewhere that was awesome. So why four stars and not five? Man, those bartenders, even though they are very generous and sweet as can be, cannot pour a good drink. I switched from wine because I wasn't a fan of it to quickly an old fashioned which tasted incredibly off. I think because it was a more classic style. But then later I experimented with trying a Manhattan cocktail after I saw my friend with it and that was even worse. Finally, resolved to sticking to well liquor and a simple mixer and everything was fine after that. The food was meh. The salad course was actually my favorite part. I'm not sure if they make the food on premises though or if there is a catering deal of sorts. But we had an arugula salad with a lemon vinaigrette and shaved pecorino romano and it was AWESOME. So flavorful and simple and refreshing. For my entree the choices were either diver sea scallops or New York Strip Steak. Easy choice. Steak, duh. It was served with garrison seasonal farm vegetables and parmesan risotto in a red wine jus. The sauce was interesting - good I think but weird. The meat was really tough. It was cooked okay but it was just a super poor cut of meat with a lot of fat grizzle and just hard to chew and enjoy. That was the main focal point of the meal though and I was pretty dismayed. Also heard from other people at the wedding that the scallops were just as bad. Very tiny portion and it had a funky off taste to them. Great location, stunning and in every sense beautiful beyond words. Food and drinks - very meh. Solid Four stars. read more

Hosted my father's birthday here, it was spectacular. We had a brunch, with drinks it ended up being about 50 bucks a head. The food was really wonderful, the atmosphere was beautiful, the service was impeccable. My only complaint is that I wish I lived closer, I would definitely come back here more often. You just can't beat the view, a fabulous panoramic overview of the river and West Point. read more

My sister visited for some tennis warm-up before her match coming up in the following days and the space is gorgeous! When you think country club on the east coast, you think vast greenery with plenty of trees and the silence of nature. Yep, check and check. However, with West Point just 15-20 minutes away, there is residual military sounds that break the chirping and peeping of nature. Regardless, this place is tranquil and calm and perfect for a day of tennis or an afternoon of golf. Five tennis courts are available. You'll have to check the site for pricing and lessons. Golf carts are available for this 9-hole course. Most holes are par 3s and par 4s with some fun obstacles like a big pond! I'm itching to play, but I have no shoes or clubs with me :( The space is also gorgeous for a private event especially a wedding. There's a small lawn for an intimate ceremony and a beautifully decorated banquet hall for the reception. As for cocktails and mingling, there's a smaller lounge area with large windows that overlook the golf course. Most of the people here are pretty old. Think active retirement living! Ordered steak well done instead of rare as instructed on the menu, the menu also said it comes with garlic mashed potatoes I asked the waiter to please not bring me garlic mashed potatoes as I don't eat garlic just a plain well-done filet mignon. The waiter brought my dinner with the garlic mashed potatoes on the plate, I instructed him not to put it down. He went to the manager standing in the doorway and the manager instructed the waiter to put the plate back on my table and instructed me that that's what I was getting anyway so PS I took the plate and gave it back to the waiter told him to tell the manager to go F himself and I as a whole I did not eat dinner. I would not recommend. The manager served my wedding cake bare thumb in my cake. read more

I do not recommend working with The Highlands.  My wedding was scheduled for June 28, 2020.  When COVID-19 became a shadow looming over our pending wedding, we reached out to Adam, our representative at the Highlands, to ask to reschedule our wedding to the following year.  We were told, however, that we could not reschedule our wedding because we had insurance, even though all other weddings without insurance were being rescheduled...hmm...Okay. So we waited, and waited, for someone to tell us how we could move forward with our lives (because we did not intend to have our 100-120 person wedding amidst a pandemic).   Finally,  in the middle of May, we were told we could reschedule our wedding to the following June for a fee.  However, given the several months that had passed and the feeling that we were being hustled, we requested that The Highlands release us from our contract, knowing that they simply could not perform our wedding in June and knowing that we wouldn't want to risk changing the date, losing our insurance, and being stuck at their mercy again if the COVID situation did not improve.   The Highlands refused to work with us.  They left us, and our vendors (all local), in a lurch.  With two weeks until our wedding, we still were having calls with them where they would suggest that they could somehow still have our wedding (45 minutes from the original epicenter of the pandemic) and that they would not cancel it until the state told them it was impossible. So, the ONLY way we were able to get The Highlands to agree to cancel our wedding...ONE WEEK BEFORE OUR SCHEDULED DATE, was to contact state officials and ask for their help.  Once we spoke with the assemblywoman for the region, who then spoke to the events manager at The Highlands, the venue conceded and agreed to cancel our event.  Furthermore, they did not return any of our money despite not providing us with any service.  Bottom line?  If you do not want to be left at the mercy of a venue who only cares about THEIR bottom line, do not have your event at The Highlands. read more

Lovely Venue Ugly Attitude This is a lovely venue, but I am giving it two stars because of the poor attitude of two staff members-one is the events director Danielle who is confused about authority and rudeness and the second was the blonde female bartender last night whose abrasive put upon attitude made simple drink requests an ordeal- Weddings should be happy occasions for guests and family members and if you cannot be gracious and professional perhaps you need to consider another vocation. read more

Attended a bridal shower at the Highlands Country club this past weekend. The staff was super attentive to the entire room and we didn't have to wait long for a round of drinks to make it's way through the crowd to us. The appetizers were frequently passed and wow the empanadas and rice balls were very tasty. The menu provided two choices for the entree and the entire table was served at the same time. The shrimp were very fresh and the pasta appeared to be handmade, overall the dish was a little bland but when cooking for such large groups you have to go light on seasonings. Some others had the chicken dish and said it was cooked to perfection. The dessert was a mixed berry pie and also a custom cake was served. Can't say enough good things about the venue and the staff. We had our wedding here this past weekend and we were floored. The service was absolutely incredible. From the coordinator to the assistant and captain, everything was smooth and perfect. The assistant really helped to pull everything together the day of and just brought everything to life. Food was to die for. All of our guests were amazed and commented at the quality and deliciousness of the food selections. It was fresh, hot, and some of the best wedding menu they've ever had. We had our wedding at Highlands Country Club and it was incredible. The staff were so on top of every detail (Ivan is a rockstar coordinator), the food was foodie good (get the sushi appetizer and the steak!), and the space was so welcoming and fun. Our guests loved lawn games beforehand and s'mores by the fire. I was worried the space would be too small for 140, but everyone fit and the dance floor worked! We had our wedding here on August 15 2015, just this past weekend. The staff was incredible. Always checking up if anything was needed for the bride and groom ie food/appetizers/water/drinks etc. The ambiance is incredible. Beautiful set up. Perfect size for a great indoor/outdoor wedding of 200 people. If it were to rain you have two other options for your ceremony to be held. Both would have been beautiful. Luckily the weather held up for our outdoor ceremony of which there were multiple options as well. The food was unreal. We had the scallops and steak and both were delicious. Everything is customized soup to nuts to your liking ie napkins, runners, candles, table numbers etc... My main point of contact was Danielle West and I could not sing her praises enough. Extremely responsive. So sweet. Very calming during the high stress of planning. She had all the answers. I just got totally married there and everything was top notch. The food was really well done and everything about the experience was just wonderful. Our coordinator was Danielle. She's the sweetest thing on two feet. Everything went off seamless, like a nice suit jacket stitch or great delivery food. Highlands Country Club hosted my wedding 6/9/2018. An absolutely perfect venue for a party of 125 people. Ivan is incredible, easy to work with, and really listens to the couple who will be married. The venue itself is gorgeous. The food was great and we got several compliments on the quality of the food. I was recently at this venue for a wedding and to be honest I just made this yelp account because the staff truly deserved to be commended. I was MOH at the wedding this weekend and I was blown away with the attentiveness and preparedness of the staff. The bartenders (even one who was admittedly new) were delightful and catered to any and every beverage whim. The coordinator(s) were professional, friendly, and lovely. But the real shout out goes to the bridal assistant, Connie. She was AMAZING. She was sweet, energetic, friendly, prepared, and overall just 10 steps ahead of us. I went downstairs to ask for more orange juice (for the mimosas) and she told me to leave the pitcher and she'd bring it back up and before I walked back into the room she was suddenly behind me with a. Full pitcher. I asked if she had any cab companies the venue recommends and 2 minutes later she handed me a hand written outline of multiple cab services and their numbers. I could honestly go on and on about every detail of her helpfulness. Every time she walked out of the bridal suite after performing some unasked task that proved to be ingenious, the entire bridal party would just start gushing about her. The bride was thrilled with her, and she made my job as MOH infinitely easier. If i could give this delightful woman more than 5 stars I would. Even my date (a man essentially clueless to the nuances of a successfully executed wedding) commented that she "literally seemed to be everywhere doing everything". Anyway I will stop by gushing now. Wedding: Friday, 9/23/2016 Event Manager: Danielle West We visited the Highlands Country Club in July 2015. We saw several venues before visiting HCC and immediately fell in love with the space, the look, location, tables, etc. Danielle was genuine, fun, understood what we were looking for and envisioned for our wedding. She was patient with the million questions I had while wedding planning. However, a few things fell short for us. HCC holds "tastings" on Thursday's at the Valley restaurant located at their sister property, The Garrison. You choose off their restaurant menu and pay for it, to get a general idea of their food. This is not an actual tasting of your wedding day menu selections. We found this odd and opted not to do it because it seemed pointless to pay to try dishes that weren't even on our wedding menu. We wish that they did offer proper tastings because we definitely had some downs. We chose the arugula salad to start, which was drenched in the lemon vinaigrette. They also didn't serve salads to a few of our guests that were taking photobooth pictures. When they returned to their seats, they asked the server for the salads, but they never brought it out. Instead, the soup course was served. This was very disappointing to hear, considering that we expected nothing less but perfection from the servers. Our soup course, the lobster bisque, was practically inedible. Almost all of our guests told us that it was beyond salty -- practically salt water soup. Very unfortunate, considering we paid additional for this course. We had our ceremony in the garden. I made it very clear that both parents will be walking us down the aisle and worried that the aisle will be tight for 3 adults, plus myself in the wedding dress. I was reassured that they will have enough space, which wasn't the case on our wedding day. The chairs were set up too close and the aisle was very tight. We felt like everyone was on top of us during the walk down the aisle. The biggest disappointment of the day was my ripped veil. I dropped off my wedding dress with Danielle on Thursday and when I got to the venue on Friday, my photographer found my ripped veil in the bridal suite right before we were about to take bridal party photos. When I spoke to Danielle about this the day after our wedding, I was told that the veil was already ripped when they took my dress out of the garment bag. Whether this was true or if a staff member accidentally ripped my veil (it happens!) I was BEYOND upset and angered that Danielle and/or my bridal assistant did not immediately pull me to the side when I got to the venue to tell me about this. The fact that my photographer found it tossed to the side, like it was garbage, truly put a huge damper on my wedding day. They truly dropped the ball on this. We were also missing some items the next day, like our wedding signs/frames, and one of our laser cut wooden table numbers were broken in half. VERY disappointing since we had these made and ordered for the wedding. At the end of the day, we're happily married and danced the night away. It wouldn't be a wedding without some wedding day disaster happening! However, looking back on it almost five weeks later... we wish that certain things were handled a little differently. read more

is my second time been to this place. i am the wedding photographer. and this is the worest wedding venue i have been to. our team working from the morning did not eat anything. the manager said they will provide food to us. when we wait till the dinner time, there is nothing provide for us. they said because there is 3 more guest coming,they have to bring our meal to serve those people. they dont have anything in their kitchen. the manager said this with very bad attitude. i will not recomend this venue to any of my client at all. read more

Beautiful venue and the food was outstanding. Attended a family wedding this summer and no plan was made for extreme heat. The ceremony was outside, in the direct sun. The flowers on the wedding arch were wilting, the glare so bad you were trying to shield your face just to be able to see. On this vast lawn the chairs were packed so tightly together that several guests had to get up during the ceremony due to the heat and being squashed. A hour between salad and dinner is too much. All and all a lovely venue - recommend you use your own wedding planner and avoid their recommendations for DJ and photographer. read more

Where to start...We just got married at Highlands Country Club on July 1 and it was the most incredible day. Not only is the venue itself absolutely beautiful, the staff and coordinators were amazing! Danielle West was our coordinator and from the start, she made planning effortless. She guided us through the process, took care of coordinating so many details of the day, and never made any question seem silly. Everything we discussed, came alive on our day and she truly made it happen. On the wedding day, we also had a bridal assistant and Danielle's assistant with us and they were so nice, attentive and present the entire time. Everything was seamless- even when we had some weather challenges impose on our original plans for the day. The whole morning was sunny and beautiful, we got to take all of our photos outside however, we had a tornado warning at the time of the ceremony! The ceremony was set up to be outside, but last minute we were told we had to move it indoors. At first they couldn't fit our chuppah inside, but they went above and beyond to make it happen so we could get married in the solarium- which ended up being so incredibly beautiful and we are actually happier it ended up being inside! It poured during the ceremony which was magical and just when we started reading our vows, the sun came through and lit up the whole room! Danielle and her staff went out of their way to set up cocktail hour outside again once the storm passed. You really can't find this kind of service anywhere!!! It really felt like they were doing everything they could to make our dreams and wishes come true. Our guests, from our family, parents friends and our friends, have repeatedly told us it was one of the most beautiful, seamless and fun weddings they have ever been too!! It truly was such an amazing day and we cannot thank everyone at HCC enough for making it happen. We HIGLY HIGHLY recommend this venue. read more
