They are hiring all the old staff who was fired under Darlene, I mean they were fired for a reason. Do not bring your love ones here if you care about their well being. They are a total mess here from mgmt to the lazzzyy and uncaring staff!!!

The menu changes seasonally with a good selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. There are always fabulous activities. Last week they had llamas in for a visit with a fun western themed evening. The staff is wonderful and the General Manager is always available for residents and families. Best senior living in Woodstock by far.

I've spent hours here with my Mom and have gotten to know a lot of the care professionals and staff. They truly love my Mom like family. Is it perfect? Of course not! No situation is 100% perfect, but they work hard to care for residents with love and dignity. I would highly recommend it for a loved one.

They has so many activities and amenities as far as a dining room with a chef and a beautiful library. They accept dogs..not sure about cats, but I would ask if that were important to me, it's not unlikely they'd allow them in the apartments. I know one man that has lived there happily for over 15 years. They also have vendors come in almost every day. They have Taco and margaritas every Tuesday. There a pet rescue that comes in regularly to just allow some love for both the homeless pets and the residents. Overall, I'd recommend, especially if you have your own generator for emergencies.

They are pretty much all sad just by the nature of what they are and who is housed there. When one does go to visit, one looks for things like cleanliness and what not, but mostly to see that those living in the facility are being treated with the dignity and respect due to a human being who has weathered the storm of Life long enough to find themselves at a resting point where this rest is only possible with the assistance of others. I found this place to be a place where this dignity and kindness it quite present. Granted it was my first time here, I noticed what I tend to see lacking in many other homes of this nature and that is respect. I will admit that it does look slightly dated, but not enough to raise a fuss over, and given the age of most of the patients there, it probably looks relatively modern lol. Understand that it takes a special type of person to work in these places.. The clients here (and in many other facilities across the nation) are fragile, hanging by a thread and off times not still in possession of the same energy or mind that propelled them this far into their existence which often leads to some very dramatic and potentially chaotic situations. I was amazed by the staff here. I am 40 and never stopped to notice the finesse and professionalism that it takes for the nurses and caretakers to do who they do, what many of us wish we provide but usually cannot for a multitude of reasons namely lack of training and logistics. I am very grateful to know that my relative is in the hands of good people who want to help. At one point before we left, my relative was in need of being moved and another orderly was needed. No one could be found and I asked one of the young men there who had already clocked out and finished with his work, backpack on and heading out the door if he could assist and he didn't bat an eyelash as he set his pack down and helped and assisted... for the next 45min. That moved me. He didn't have to help. He could've pointed at the desk and said "they can help you", but he didn't, and that speaks more than I can put into words.

My mom has been in two other memory care facilities and neither one could hold a candle to the Oaks. The staff is so caring and loving. They treat all the residents like family. The management gets down and dirty with the care staff. Not one of them is hesitant to help care for a resident. I can go on forever in praising the Oaks. I am so thankful that Shelley was persistent in sending me emails inviting me to the upcoming events. That is what led me to choose Oaks when it was time for Mom to move.

My mother is very happy living here and she comments often about how kind everyone is. The food is great, they have Chef Mark to plan and prepare the meals. I wish I could eat so well! The staff really go the extra mile, they let me know if there have been any changes with my mom, even if it's something minor. Mom's room is always clean, her laundry is done several time a week and is folded/put away for her. Her bed linens are changed once a week, the trash in her room is emptied daily. I would love to live here one day. Andrew, the Executive Director, is always out and about. He knows all of the residents by name and knows details about each one. He knew me by name before I had even moved my mom in. The Executive Directors at two other communities where my mom lived prior to the Oaks never left their offices and didn't know my name, even though I visited 4-7 days a week. Lynne, the Horizons activities director, is amazing. She has so many great things planned, my mom loves going for rides on the community bus, even if it's just the "scenic joyride" around Woodstock. My mother has lived at three other AL and memory care communities and the Oaks is by far the best. I visited four communities before selecting the Oaks. I also asked around a lot, talked to many people in the industry, including the caregivers, CNAs, etc. They all said how great the Oaks is and how much they would love to work there if given the chance.

I think the other reviewer on here may not be cut out for this line of work. I also noticed she's never reviewed anything in a positive light. 2 stars max. Don't let her review stop you from checking out Benton House. I cannot tell you how pleased we are with this place!

We brought my mom to live here after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She did not come willingly…read morebecause she didn't understand her illness and was a handful when she arrived. Suzanne and Chuck went out of their way to make the adjustment as smooth as possible. After a few short weeks, she loved it there. All the workers were extremely kind to her. We had a few minor hiccups with her medications, but that is to be excepted and they were quick to fix the problems. Eventually my mom was placed in their memory care and I was happy with the care she was given. They helped get my mom on hospice and kept me aware of the hospice staff and how they were doing. The biggest gratefulness I have towards Benton House is when my mom fell and fractured her back. We thought for sure she would have to be placed in a nursing home. They were wonderful to accept her back and told me this was her home. She died a few weeks later, but happy and grateful that she was able to live her final days in a place she eventually fell in love with.

My mother-in-law lived in the Evergreen neighborhood for persons with dementia. I cannot speak…read morehighly enough of the care she received there. The staff was so sweet and engaged. Everyone was very loving with my mother-in-law and it was obvious they genuinely cared for her. One care giver even came in on her day off to help my mother-in-law celebrate her birthday with a big cake. No place is perfect, but I can honestly say we felt blessed that we chose Arbor Terrace to help us care for my mother-in-law. Good people make such a difference!
