Strange to think I am reviewing a nursing home, but here it goes. I have never been to a nursing…read morehome that wasn't depressing. They are pretty much all sad just by the nature of what they are and who is housed there. When one does go to visit, one looks for things like cleanliness and what not, but mostly to see that those living in the facility are being treated with the dignity and respect due to a human being who has weathered the storm of Life long enough to find themselves at a resting point where this rest is only possible with the assistance of others. I found this place to be a place where this dignity and kindness it quite present. Granted it was my first time here, I noticed what I tend to see lacking in many other homes of this nature and that is respect. I will admit that it does look slightly dated, but not enough to raise a fuss over, and given the age of most of the patients there, it probably looks relatively modern lol. Understand that it takes a special type of person to work in these places.. The clients here (and in many other facilities across the nation) are fragile, hanging by a thread and off times not still in possession of the same energy or mind that propelled them this far into their existence which often leads to some very dramatic and potentially chaotic situations. I was amazed by the staff here. I am 40 and never stopped to notice the finesse and professionalism that it takes for the nurses and caretakers to do who they do, what many of us wish we provide but usually cannot for a multitude of reasons namely lack of training and logistics. I am very grateful to know that my relative is in the hands of good people who want to help. At one point before we left, my relative was in need of being moved and another orderly was needed. No one could be found and I asked one of the young men there who had already clocked out and finished with his work, backpack on and heading out the door if he could assist and he didn't bat an eyelash as he set his pack down and helped and assisted... for the next 45min. That moved me. He didn't have to help. He could've pointed at the desk and said "they can help you", but he didn't, and that speaks more than I can put into words.

In all these years, we never second-guessed our decision. ** Creekside boasts a competent and dedicated staff. Stephanie Hendrix is a hands-on director who rolls up her sleeves to ensure that residents are well taken care of. And George Kahl, the maintenance director? Simply the best! Helpful, kind -- he goes above and beyond. ** Apartments are amongst the nicest I've seen: spacious and bright. WIFI, as well as heating and air conditioning (which residents control) is included in the rent. ** Let's face it; no senior residence is cheap. But Creekside offers more of a 'bang for your buck' than comparable communities. ** Free transportation within a ten mile radius is an invaluable service. Plenty of shopping in Hiram, and a Wellstar facility with excellent geriatric care is a short distance away. So is Paulding Hospital. ** The social director plans a varied itinerary including bingo, exercise, musical events, field trips and more. ** All- day dining is another plus. Apparently, my coffee is not nearly as good as Creekside's. (Gee, thanks, mom!) ** So many nice and interesting people live there. I've chatted with a man who played baseball professionally, a woman whose ancestors are honored with statues around Marietta Square, and my all-time favorite: the former wife of a famous Hollywood director! If you or your loved one are in need of a safe community for independent senior living, Creekside Pines may be just what you're looking for!

Not only did she ease my anxiety she showed me what a wonderful place Daybreak Village is. Jerry made time to sit with Dad for conversation and helped him whenever he could. Dad had a huge room with access to a backyard that he shared with one neighbor. There are activities that the residents can participate in each day as well as the occasional special trip to a restaurant or shopping excursion. Though my father can be quite charming, he can be flat out awful at the drop of a dime. The staff at Daybreak Village went above and beyond to take care of my father and did many things to keep him safe. I would recommend Daybreak Village to anyone. They care for those residents as they are members of their own family. I could sleep soundly knowing that Dad was well cared for at Daybreak. It is never an easy step to take, but everyone at Daybreak Village will help. They are a God send in a difficult time. Thank you Daybreak Village!

This place is phenomenal…read more I am so emotional after my business meeting there today that I almost can't take it. My grandmother didn't have that much dementia, but the place where we "placed" her was not nearly as wonderful as this Emeritus location. I think she would have been a great candidate for one of their "wings" - if only she had lived here and not in Rome, maybe we could have had her there. Here's the deal - Emeritus has 11 metro-Atlanta facilities, four that are dementia-specific, so to speak, and over 400 locations nationwide. From meeting with one of the key folks today, and meeting other staff and directors, it is clear that they are committed to the very best in patient care and treatment. Each resident has a nameplate on the door, and a photo/collage type thing next to their door with whatever they feel portrays them best- family pics, notes, etc. Even better, the four "sections" of the facility are decorated like....things that make you happy! My favorite was the "beach" themed room- and the hair salon! In one corner of a wing, they even have an old-fashioned mirror/dressing table and vintage dresses next to it. Wow. Beyond the aesthetics, it was clear that the staff really cares, and that anyone whom I love would be well tended to at this place...I witnessed staffers calling everyone they saw by name, carefully tending to the sofas in the lounge area, checking on people in their rooms or in the common dining area or group activity area. Really, it was - overwhelming. Bob Carr and staff do an incredible job, it seems - if I get totally *out there* one day, for whatever reason, this is the kind of place I would want to be.
