First week of July I sent pictures for and estimate, which was a first. Two people said they had availability for a mid Sept move. Then the guy Paul said he could give me a better estimate in person, which was done 7/21. He said he would get back to me in a few days on a quote. Why the lag, I don't know. Then I called twice first week of Aug and both times no one could give me an answer on an estimate. I called for a third time on 8/3 and I was told they were booked and couldn't do it. The month long experience I had with this company was not professional and very strange. The repeated 5 star reviews are also strange. read more

We had a positive experience with Highline Moving 3 weeks ago for our move from Downtown Rochester to Fairport. The owner did a complimentary in-person estimate, which I thought was a little strange, especially during the pandemic. However he seems like a nice guy. The company called us to confirm the day before the big move. 3 guys in their 20s showed up the day of and worked tirelessly for the next 4 hours to get our apartment moved-out and our house moved-in. They were polite and respectful of our belongings. Most of all, they were very careful with the items and actually listened to us when we told them to pay extra attention to certain fragile items. They even assembled our metal bed-frames with their shoes off, being mindful of the new carpet. Another bonus was the fact that they didn't mind transporting loose items. We had numerous garbage bags of clothing that were packed hastily. I know there are moving companies that won't move loose items, but these guys didn't mind and were very helpful. Their rates were competitive and actually less expensive than some other companies. We were charged $155/hr for a 3-person team. They worked at a rapid pace and hardly took any breaks. I also found them to be honest in calculating their time spent moving. They showed up at 815 am instead of 8 am and their billing reflected the 0.25 hour difference. To say this was a nightmare of an experience is an understatement. I chose to use this company because of the ratings and it was the worst decision. Paul, one of the employees (owner?) came to my townhome well in advance to get an inventory which included 2 refrigerators. I got a quote and purchased the full insurance and went with them. After the move we had some issues. Three young gentleman came to move my home. ***STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you take pictures of all your items and take pictures of the moving van once it is all packed up and even take videos as much as possible. Also take note and speak with the moving team about their lunch time as well. There was some discrepancy with the time but I chose not to argue with them over it. That should not count as part of the moving cost. I would recommend saying ok it's **** o'clock I will expect you to come back at ****. You pay for travel Not lunch. after the move (and tipping each of them 50$ since I believe in tipping but now regret) the issues began. They stripped my dining room table screws, Paul said he would come to fix it and never did. They lost my power cord to my stationary bike- they never found it and of course implied that maybe it wasn't with my bike...wrong it was. The grand finale was the refrigerator. After they moved both refrigerators I was finally able to take a look at them a couple weeks later. I removed the Saran Wrap (and asked if there was a time limit to the insurance since I knew I wasn't going to be able to inspect everything right away with a newborn at home and working-they said no time limit) and noticed some dents and damage to one fridge door. When I told Paul he replied back that the movers didn't remember moving 2 refrigerators and he doesn't remember it either **STRONGLY RECOMMEND taking a picture of what they inventory***I said I do have 2 refrigerators and one is damaged. I told Paul I thought maybe I got the damaged one from Costco but it turns out the other refrigerator was from Costco and the damaged one was a gift and I didn't have the receipt. Which, Mind you, you do not need for the insurance claim although nice to have. After numerous e mails back and forth claiming that the fridge was purchased after the move he proceeded to tell me that the insurance company called Costco and confirmed that a fridge was purchased after the move. I told him that I purchased a freezer after the move from Costco and showed him in person and the receipt that i purchased a freezer. And also since when does an insurance company call Costco? And on top of them why the hell would I file a claim if I bought the fridge from Costco when they have the best return and exchange policy on the planet. If the fridge was damaged 10 years from now Costco would replace it I wouldn't go through highland movers and get the door replaced. He then told me that the insurance company wants to do a conference call because they denied the claim since they believe the fridge was not moved by the movers. I told him sure no problem because the fridge was definitely moved by you guys. After multiple e-mails and avoiding my phone calls. I had to tell him I will be reporting him to BBB if I do not get the check for the fridge door. He sent me the check "from his own money" and that was that. BEWARE! They might be cheaper than other companies but this was a mess and such a horrible experience. Accusatory and aggressive, inconsistent with what he says. Tries to back track, which I am so glad most of it was e mail since I have proof**STRONGLY RECOMMEND communicating via e nail with him***. I've used this mover three times (2 Canandaigua and 1 Henrietta) this year as a nonprofit. We pick up and deliver donated furniture for the poor by volunteer helpers. The last two times an employee (Joe) was rude and confrontational. I contacted company owner after the second time. I thought the first time he was just him having a bad day. Damage was also done by shoving an exercise bike into the underbelly of a couch creating a hole. A patch isn't a solution. I gave weeks for an apology. None given. We have now branched into adding Rochester and will be using another mover. read more

We had to move a piano on very short notice because someone in my household had received it as a gift and we had to get it out of the location it was in before the person it was purchased from moved. With only a couple of days notice, they were able to fit us in. They did a wonderful and professional job moving the piano up several flights of steps into our apartment. We had an excellent experience recently with Dean and Connor (I think those were their names?!) The owner was very communicative over phone/e-mail, and the movers showed up exactly on time, were willing to make an additional stop to pick up extra boxes, were careful with our stuff, and helped us re-assemble several pieces of furniture. When they arrived at our storage facility, we discovered that their truck wouldn't fit through the main entrance (design flaw on the part of the storage facility, IMO), so they had to bring our entire unit worth of stuff out to the truck on dollies. From the day Paul came over to do an on site estimate for our move from Rochester NY to Dulles VA, to the actual day of the move, and the unloading of the truck in VA, Paul and his team were the utmost professionals. Prior to moving day, when I had questions/concerns, I'd call Paul and no matter how busy he was, he will always call back. The 2 movers showed up at the time Paul said they would, and completed the move in a little over 3 hours. Unloading was a little tougher because they had to work with the limitation of only 1 elevator in the building, but they nonetheless got the job done.
