I had a good experience with Ken's Neat Moving & Storage last summer. The 3 man crew worked hard on the hottest day of the summer to move all my stuff to the new apartment in about 3 hours. Pricing was more than fair and was less expensive than any of my other quotes. They were very careful with items and also very honest. The crew had found a $100 bill lying around behind a dresser and was honest enough to report it to me (to my surprise). My girlfriend was annoyed that they wouldn't transport open boxes with loosely (poorly) self-packed items, but I understand that to be policy, so I can't hold that against them. I called a few companies to be sure this moving company would be reliable. I booked this a few weeks ahead of time. I even changed my moving date and was told I would be accommodated. I did call the day before to confirm, and he called me back to confirm as well. The movers were on time and very professional and made sure to get done quickly. Ken's flaked on us the day of our move because we had some items on our dining room table when they arrived an hour early. Told us there was no way they could work around it. The movers told us they were going to get lunch and come back and never showed up. Ken called us to tell us they all decided to go home afterwards and told him our house was in "disarray". Sounds more like they wanted to call it an early Friday. Now when I try to call the calls are just ignored. Save yourself the hassle and book someone else instead of this lazy company. read more

Scheduled 11am-1pm a month prior to moving date. The day of the move the movers arrived very late (5pm). When they arrived I went to sign the paperwork before the move commemced and I noticed that they were gona bill me for four movers instead of the three that I thought I agreed upon last month over the phone with Ken. I asked is it ok if I just use three and they said thats fine and proceeded to put all my posessions already moved into the truck back into my apartment........ In shock, I told them I would be willing to pay for four because I had to move out that day because it was the end of my lease. I even apologized if I misunderstood. They refused, cussed me out, and left. This happened within 10 minutes of arriving (btw the difference is about 40 more an hour). I called Ken in confusion and he basically shirked the responsibility he has over crews actions and said we can try tomorrow. I explained my lease situation and he said he can't. After pleading 2 more times, he called back and said the same team is coming back to do the move.... I refused, obviously, because my trust was shaken in these movers after the way I was treated.... Guess I'll has to pay the penalty to the landlord, but that is 100000% better than dealing with these psychos again. I have never used a moving service before but I am so glad I chose Ken's. It was a fantastic experience all around. I have contacted Ken's via email and phone. They are easy to get ahold of, obtain information, and schedule a moving appointment. Four movers came out, on time, on a Saturday morning. These guys were really nice and personable. They handled my furniture and boxes with utmost care and respect throughout the process. I have a treadmill, and they managed to move it easily and carefully into my new place. The whole moving process look approximately 2.5 hours, and I actually paid less than the quoted estimate! I strongly recommend Ken's. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! I booked this move about a month in advance and I should be in my new apartment now. Instead I'm waiting on a whole different moving company to show up because the Ken's team just never showed up. No call. No nothing. After 2 confirmation calls I thought everything was set for 8:30AM today. 8:30 comes and goes. 9AM comes and goes and I start calling. I left 3 messages before I got a call back. Turns out the team showed up, saw some snow in the PLOWED driveway and just left for another job. )This company is based in ROCHESTER so they shouldn't be spooked by snow.) Again, no call, no nothing. Close to 9:30AM I get a call back saying that the team shouldn't have just bailed (duh) but they are just handling a small job and will be back between 11-1. 1PM sails by without word. I start calling again and after 3 tries get a call back. Now another moving company has been contacted that I am TOTALLY unfamiliar with and they will be handling my job. Boss from Ken's says the new guy will be calling me shortly. 45min pass with no call. Not one iota of compensation for all of my wasted time was ever offered. I call again and am told I'll be getting a call shortly. The new company does call but says they cant be there until between 3-4pm. It's 3:45PM and I'm still waiting for a move that was supposed to start at 8:30AM with 0 updates. Mind you, I have no idea what this new team is going to charge or what their reputation is. DO NOT HIRE KEN'S NEAT MOVNG. The moving teams are beyond unprofessional and the company makes little effort to compensate you for your time when they royally blow it. I've moved 20 times, hired teams off of Craigslist and this is by far and away my worst move ever. Now I'm sitting here starving hoping movers show up. DO NOT HIRE. UPDATE: My move wasn't completed until after 8PM. The new moving company showed up with a 4 man crew but they were intentionally slow and only 2 guys were moving items at a time and took 2 hours more than necessary to just get my belongings out of my old unit. They didn't put the legs back on furniture that they removed. The boss of the crew was shouting at his 4 man crew non-stop and kept asking me personal questions and telling me I "must be desperate" to have lived in the perfectly nice apartment I was in just because it was up some stairs. Then they tried to charge me $600 for moving a one bedroom apartment, which was $100 over the worst case scenario quite Ken's provided. In the end I paid $460 for a terrible, chaotic, stressful move and still have to hire someone to help with tasks that the movers should've done as part of the move. read more

Use this company at your own risk. This morning the moving crew came late. I question why there were 4 instead of 2-3. These employees started getting belligerent about that. Then I reminded the employees that this was a move to a nursing home and that they needed to follow the nursing home protocols and have their temperatures taken. Then the they got angry and in my face about that. I said the owner had the protocols and said you would know. At this point one employee said why would anyone go to a nursing home at this time. Another said I am not getting tested because he was clean. That maybe true but the nursing home does not think anyone is clean. Each of these two employees were verbally and physically threatening. Comments like you got a problem and getting in my face about this. I told their supervisor call the boss, he has the protocols. He would not so I said I would call him. At that point the supervisor said you do that but I am leaving. And they drove off. I call they owner, who apologized and said this never happens. Unlikely given this crew. He tried to make things right by agreeing to get another person and come over to help load the rental van I had to get. He did make it to the NH, followed protocols and finished the move. But he has three very angry employees, one of which will punch and hurt a customer someday. Use them at your own risk. read more

After discussing the cost and fees associated with my move with Ken himself I was surprised to find an Extra $20 fee. When I asked about it I was told to call Ken. They had already started moving my things into the truck and then paperwork was signed. While I was speaking with Ken about this fee they unloaded the truck and left. Never said a word to me about leaving. I called Ken back to ask why the left and he said they must have felt like they were not going to get paid and that I must have rubbed them the wrong way. This fee I was questioning was for a second personal vehicle that they had to drive over, because all four people would not fit in the moving truck. This was a fee that was never discussed, and I was not sure why I was being charged for a vehicle that was not gonna be used to move anything. I also found out that I was going to be charged form 12 pm till he move was over. Even though they showed up at 12:25. I hadn't realized that I had to pay them from when they left their building not from when they started the job. After discussing the skis with Ken him for me I was petty, and he could call the guys back and have them come back. I declined his offer and canceled my move. When you own a business maybe you should be on the job to see how your employees treat people. I don't need Ken's Moving. There are plenty of other moving companies out there. I would rather wait and have the job done professionally and respectfully. read more

The guys (3 of them) came at 930 to my old house and by noon I was completely into my new house! I got to eat lunch at Chen Garden because they were so efficient. Ken quoted me between $250-400 which is hundreds less than any other company I called. The guys were professional and nice and worked really hard so I gave them each a $20 tip. Come to find out after they left that they fixed one of my wobbly dining chairs for me. Loved them! Definitely recommend these guys. read more

I am beyond impressed with Ken's. I called Ken after calling a few other places to get quotes on a local move here in Rochester. Ken's was the most reasonably priced that I found. It was also a plus that he had availability for a weekday move with just 2 weeks notice. After discussing in detail what I needed moved, he gave me a very realistic quote with the estimated best and worst case scenarios for cost. This was appreciated as we've all heard stories of how costs can be added at the end. It was all explained well as to set expectations. The day before the move Ken called me to confirm the move and go over the details one more time. What I needed was fairly demanding but Ken was very accommodating. I needed an entire 2 bedroom apartment moved from one address, a stop at a second address to get a dresser from the third floor, then unload everything at our final destination. Day of move, I got a call from the movers that they were on the way. Right on time as promised. The 3 gentleman pulled up, got out, and went right to work. They surveyed the apartment and began moving everything in a rhythmic fashion. It almost seemed effortless the way that they worked. The truck was loaded after just 45min. It was incredible. They had everything in our house and exactly where we wanted it in just about 2 hours. We were only charged for that amount of time which was exactly what Ken had quoted me as our best case scenario. These guys wasted no time and when you charge by the hour, that means that I didn't waste any of my money. I will tell you that we prepared as much as possible before they came meaning everything was boxed, organized, and labeled beforehand. Besides the cost and amount of time it took I was equally impressed with the fact that not one item was damaged. Not a single scuff on the wall. I am very impressed with the level of service I received from the first call I made until the last box was off the truck. Excellent Service! Ken's Neat Moving & Storage Inc. recently moved us from Fairport, NY to Toms River, NJ. They were the only local mover that would do it without combining our move with other people's possessions. They showed up when they said they would, their 3 guys worked so hard we had to insist they take breaks, they pack the truck like they were building a puzzle everything padded tight to prevent any damage, drove the next day to NJ. Hired 2 local guys to help unload at our new home, again worked so hard we had to insist they take breaks. Would highly recommend them to anyone doing a move within the Rochester area or out of the area. I was fortunate to use this company three times- all when my time frame was in a tight spot. I lived in a big industrial loft at one of these times as well, and the moving job on all times were so timely and professional. They handled all of my things with compassion and care- and when they moved my sister, they re-hung all of her clothes for her (she has a physical disability.) Their prices were extremely fair and the owner was very upfront on all charges when i spoke with him. Paperwork was clear and organized upon the job getting done and in what could have been a stressful experience like moving can often be, Ken's neat moving and storage really helped alleviate all of that. I called Ken's Movers for a small move down the street and to unload a storage unit. When the bill was produced, Ken had neglected to tell me I would be charged for travelling time. I complained but paid. He later called me to offer me a discount for the following day's work unloading the storage unit. The movers themselves were polite, fast and efficient. Terrible! Based on a list I sent Ken his price was between $700 and $1,100. After they finished for the day he handed me a bill for $1,250 with half of my items on the list still at the old location. Ken was more interested in tidying up his moving blankets than moving furniture. They also broke two pieces of furniture, one they fixed the other they didn't tell me about. Days after they left I found my couch cushions outside. I never thought to look for them since my couch was still at my old house. Also I had to pick up their redbull and water bottles they left in the driveway. read more

The movers showed up at the time they stated. They were very professional. They wrapped my tables/chairs, took them apart to fit into the truck and put them back exactly as they were before... Very neat, took their time, although they did do it in a very timely manner... They were available within a 2 day time frame... Very impressed and would certainly recommend them for anyone... They had to go over an hour, but with all the work they had to do, I had no problem with paying for it... Simply the best!!!! read more

We got quotes for moving our office, and Ken's was competitive. We offered to have them in to look at the furniture which they declined. We sent pictures of it. On the appointed day the crew arrived, took one look at our large and heavy furniture and said they needed more people and could not do it that day. That was a Saturday - we intended to spend the weekend moving into our new office. I changed my plans and met them the next day. They moved the furniture, but were more concerned with speed than care. They scratched and damaged my cherry desk. Then they charged us several hundred dollars more than they quoted us. We were assured the cost would be between 300-600, certainly no higher. Once we were moved, they presented us with a bill for $855. They even charged us $125 for the Saturday when they only showed up and told us they couldn't do it! When we complained and had the owner come out to see it, he said he had to "think about" refunding us even for the Saturday charge! Think about refunding a charge for showing up unprepared and leaving again? I will never use them again and recommend no one else does either. read more

If I could give less than I 1 star rating, I would. First Ken assured my boyfriend and I that he would charge us "$500 to $800" for the move out and an additional $50 for a storage unit. Never once did he talk about weight premiums or the $0.75 per mile that he intended on charging. Rather, he stated that it was $0.30 per mile. On top of that, I was distraught to find out that they charged for the "hour" that the crew drove to and from my house. So, you mean to tell me I have to pay mileage and $100 per hour for 3 guys to drive 30 minutes? From the onset of the experience, I was skeptical. The crew asked me to authorize the "transaction" before they started. In essence, I was signing off on all charges before knowing what the final amount would be. I have complained about this point to the BBB to which Ken responded that, had I not liked it, why didn't I turn down service at that time? If you had a specific move out date and a moving crew started pulling some funny stuff, what options would you have? I think Ken relies on these difficult situations. Anyway, I paid for a three man crew for a premium up charge but you wouldn't know it since one of the three guys was chain smoking off of the back of the truck the entire time (younger strawberry blonde haired guy with glasses). At the finish, the men showed me an invoice of over $1,100 but I was told to not "freak out" because it would be adjusted down. Not true at all. Subsequently I was charged for $1,100 (only after Ken assured us he would look over the figures that exceeded $1,200 originally). When I asked what the charges were for, I was provided with an edited bill siting more hours than were used (The crew was there for only 3 hours but I believe I was charged for over 5 hours), supplies that I never used, and other miscellaneous charges that were never discussed. Now this was $300 to $600 over the quoted price. I was distraught. My boyfriend and I asked to come see our furniture to see where it was being stored and to attempt to trouble shoot a way to get our stuff moved out without using Ken's (They also proceeded to charge us for multiple storage units when we were lead to believe it would be one at a $50 cost). Ken denied all requests, stating that his property was private and for insurance purposes we were prohibited from entering his premises. We opted to hire an auxiliary crew to supplement Ken's poor efforts for the move in (By the way, Ken was not present for ANY of the encounters yet states that we are "lying" about everything). On the day of the move in, Ken's crew became hostile because we had our own movers. At 15 minutes in, on of his movers (a black man) stated that he didn't work like that and that he needed a "break". My boyfriend became imbued. The worker was prompt to tell us that he "worked by the hour". We stated that we knew this since we were the ones paying. The man then threatened to kick my boyfriend's "ass". His most memorable comment was that his father told him "... you either win or lose a fight". No shit... The crew then stated that they would not move the rest of our belongings out. We then called the cops. Ken was called during this. He told the crew to settle out for $400 and to leave. We gave $400 cash and his crew signed off on this on our receipt (Which was scattered with forged signatures that were not my boyfriends). The crew proceeded to throw furniture off of the back of their truck. They broke my cocktail table ($650 value), my wooden bar ($2,000 + value), and my son's train table ($199+ value). I attempted to call Ken on this matter but he never responded, which led me to file with the BBB. Ken then called back after the claim was filed but proceeded to call us "assholes" and tell us that we were "full of shit". Ken then responded to the BBB claim with nonsensical information and an additional charge of approximately $85 that he chose to charge us after the fact (complete with edited bill that does not match the original bill that I hold and that was signed off as "paid"). I went to my credit card and attempted to get some of the money back for poor service (and the fact that so much damage was rendered to my property). I agreed to only ask for a $350 claim since that is what was charged in unfair excess to the original quote. Ken has since refuted this. His reason? That I am a liar and that, when I pointed out that they used my mother's credit card to authorize the charge rather than mine (more a point to their lack of attention than anything), Ken stated to my credit card that I had discussed with him that my mother would be covering the charges. That would be good and fine if my mother and I had a typical dynamic but we don't. I support my mother. Her credit card is actually just one that I have allowed her to have and it is linked to my account. Not the other way around. Seems like Ken doesn't have his facts straight. read more
