    Icelandic Haddock Broiled

Seafood overload at this place! We made a reservation for Saturday, they were not busy though. We started with a bottle of Zinfandel, a dozen fresh oysters and Craberie ( crab cake , lobstertail and scallops) then our mains were sablefish & Icelandic haddock. Now the fishes were fresh (they were ship daily as we learned) However, the crumb seasoning on the fish were so bland it was as if its steamed plain. It was bland! It could definitely use some seasoning or salt. Anywho, we finished with carrot cake. Their menu is so vast. There just so many kids of fish to choose from. Definitely place for seafood lovers. Happy tummy though..

We were camping in nearby Willow Lake Campground and wanted to try a local restaurant especially one with good fish. We decided on Hil-Mak Seafood Restaurant and I'm so glad we did. I had the Arctic Char which was absolutely delicious! We also shared the lemon berry cake which was so amazing! Thanks to Jamee, our server, for the food suggestions and the excellent experience.

    Fried fresh local perch!

We found this cozy sea food restaurant nestled in the small town of Ashtabula Ohio near Walnut beach on Lake Erie. Lots of locals were dining here which is a great sign to me! The menu was extensive, the waitress and hostess were so friendly. The specials were posted on the board noting the local fresh catch of the day which sells out quickly. We both tried the local perch, lightly breaded and fried to perfection (so light and flaky!)paired with fresh broccoli and a delicious wedge salad. They had a nice wine list too! The dessert menu was so tempting but we didn't have any room left to try them. We really loved our date night as we were traveling and stopped here for supper and to see Lake Erie! Highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area!

It wasn't good. As you can see, the broccoli was cold - the butter wouldn't melt. The clams and calamari were over deep fried and very chewy. The fish and potatoes were bland. I don't usually write bad review but this time I was very disappointed. Heard good things and I'll try again. Probably not soon. Several items were sold out so we didn't get what we really wanted- and our reservation was 6:00 on a week day. They open at 4:00.

In the area for a few days of perch and walleye fishing. Definitely felt like some seafood. What a nice , clean, quiet, and tucked away place. A good selection of craft beers are a must for the hubs and we weren't disappointed. Our waitress was very friendly and explained, with great detail, many of the dishes and how they are prepared. I wish we were in the area longer to try more items. We started with the shrimp cocktail. They were large and nicely cooked. The cocktail sauce was spicy and plentiful. We also got a lobster bisque and New England Clam chowder. Hot and rich. I'd say we both favored the chowder but both were good. They also serve a basket of rolls and hush puppies. The perfect start to a nice dinner. With our entrees, we each chose a side salad with blue cheese. Can I say it may be the BEST blue cheese dressing I've ever had?!?! We literally each had a piece of blue that was the size of a shooter marble There was a fresh special of blackened Atlantic sea scallops. The scallops were also cooked great and were laid on an amazing light sauce. Chose a side a twice baked potatoes with bacon and broiled cheese... recommended. We also tried the shrimp tsunami with asparagus. Sooooo many shrimp and we both think the fried shrimp was the star. Lightly breaded, so crunchy, not oily, and the shrimp were not dried out and still moist and firm. Phew..... We. Are. Stuffed and highly satisfied. And the prices? It was such a value especially for the quality. A great date night. Time it right and take dessert to go and watch the sunset on the waters edge.

The name of this butcher shop is definitely appropriate, because what you get here are "quality…read moremeats." Their selection of Polish and Italian sausages is impressive and people flock there to buy them. We just had New York strip steaks from Urbaniak's for dinner and they were the best. We stop in there specifically to buy their Maryland crab cakes, which are the tastiest pre-made crab cakes we've ever had. Prices are very reasonable too. Erie is lucky to have such a quality butcher shop where everything is fresh.

OK this is seriously the best butcher shop I have ever had locally. Everything is made and prepared…read moreIN HOUSE and FRESH. The smoked chicken breast is absolutely delicious and the perfect meat for a cracker. Their smoked salmon is legit and I saw that as a native of Seattle who is VERY pick about his salmon. And their deli emats00well, if you associated delis with processed meats as I do--forget about it. These deli meats are truly slices fresh meats. Beyond fresh and local being a better choice to support your local community, it is also VASTLY healthier because it is not packed with sodium nd preservatives. So if you prefer a lower sodium diet like me, you can actually have deli meat again! (Try the ox tail--delicious tender and lightly salted but don't forget the free Au jus if you are a big salt fan). Prices: shocking, I would have to say on par or in the case of some of their cheeses BETTER priced than the grocery stores. So not, high quality and healthier options do not have to mean higher prices. OK, So the meats are delicious, the products are locally made and fresh and the prices are good. So what is the catch? Does the Service suck? No, not it does not. I have always received friendly service and timely. If you come in the morning, it can get very busy so remember to grab a number and try not to be rude or demanding. They are kind and courteous but no one likes a noisy jack ass. Overall, from my personal perspective, if you are buying meats for the grill, for your sandwiches or just as a tasty snack, you cannot go wrong with Urbaniaks.
