I am a new patient and my experience was less than expected. First off there are X-rays, then the hygienist polished my teeth. Then I was shown a plan. Then the dentist came in and used the sonic tool on me. NO scaling!! Everything was backwards. SB X-rays, cleaning with sonic tool then scale then floss. Then the dentist shows you a plan!! They want to use amalgam for the fillings I need! It's bad for your health! Nobody uses it!! I just moved here from San Diego where I had a great dentist. One dentist! This place is a dentist mill! A corridor with at least 15 rooms with dental chairs. I'm pretty sure you don't see the same dentist more than once! I sent a message asking for pertinent information regarding my visit. Pulled an upper molar that was perfectly fine. No pain, no infection showing on xray. The tooth already had a root canal, and crown. A piece of my jaw bone protruded after a couple weeks. Now six months later that area hurts. This is the second tooth they pulled since opening. Dr Hilde was very obviously not happy when I came back for my next cleaning with an implant from a different dentist office. Do not trust this practice. They pull teeth hoping you will return for expensive implants. I feel foolish for not having done my homework before having this tooth pulled. read more

I had a failing cavity and it was rather large and was looking at having to crown it. I am a redhead and burn through numbing fairly quickly. I have had a crown placed without a root canal before when I was a kid and it was not nearly as painful as this experience. The practice seems advanced and gives you advanced prices and when they map your teeth they do it with this cool machine but they pinch your lip against the machine they are sticking in your mouth pretty consistently. I was traveling for work and got recommended this place. The new front desk lady was nice and she was what made me feel decent about choosing this after calling a previous business and getting referred. I was on emergency status because I wasn't local and needed same day treatment and I didn't want to wait for my tooth to get worse. They wouldn't quote me the price of a crown over the phone. Which is about 800-1200 more than other places I've gotten work at the past. They did have another business they worked with to help finance care that I got approved for. I know dental work is a pain in the ass but I've never been in this much pain In my life from a dentist. I'm telling you I have never ever reacted the way in a dental office than the way I did there. It was just an onslaught of pain and I was actively crying. The numbing just kept wearing off and at one point she just straight injected the tooth. I had the work done back to back on days because the dentist otherwise would be out of town for her pre-wedding party. So I had to go back and my face is in so much pain still. My gums in parts look like they have been sliced so much that I thought it was good or something but usually when you move food around between your teeth it doesn't have it's only feeling sensors. If I had a bit more room to shop around out there I would have gone with a different clinic. It has been 2 days since my crown was officially fit and I'm still in significant pain. So much so I have to take time off work just to mitigate. I feel terrible and now I have a $3000+ bill I need to pay off for one fucking crown. Don't go to this place if you have feeling in any part of your mouth because they will absolutely test your pain tolerance in your body and wallet. I hope the pain subsides soon it is unbearable. Office is more about money than care. Used car sales feel, had to repeatedly tell them that we didn't want a procedure done, we didn't have the money, they kept lowering the amount we needed to pay....They charged us money AFTER the insurance already paid them, took weeks to get our money back. A week later I find out my information still had not been forwarded. I phoned Hilde and reception told me they did indeed get my forms. Avoid Hilde Family Dentistry In 5 visits I had a different dentist every time. In one visit I counted 6 different people who worked in my mouth, like the entire office was cycling through lunch break and I got whoever was available at the moment. I literally had to tell them where we were at in the procedure as they sat down. On multiple occasions I was told I needed either a crown or a filling that were later determined to be unnecessary. One procedure was cancelled after I had already paid for it (they give a discount for paying in advance) and I was told I would receive a refund via check in the mail. Four months later I still haven't seen the check. Now they are saying they used it to pay for a different procedure that they told me was covered by my insurance but in fact was not. I could go on and on. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else. read more

Tragically, this clinic is not run by Jason Hilde, but rather by a marketing company (ahem, "data collection" company -www.chrisad.com) Chrisad determines everything from business hours to how phones are answered and how patients are treated. It really is detrimental to the clinic and patients. I have never in my life seen such a disregard for patients in my life. When I voiced my objections to Dr. Hilde directly, he gave me the typical sales spiel from the latest Chrisad conference. Zero stars if possible. I will be reporting their practice to the ADA. After the switch to the new location, it felt very impersonal. Someone with a headset to take you back, someone to come in for x/rays, another person to start the cleaning, a hygienist to finish the cleaning. Feels like a money grabbing conveyor belt. More than once I've had a significant wait time in the lobby and in the chair. At my Dec visit, my appointment was for 3 pm. I went back late, then waited so long for my cleaning that someone finally came in at 4:10 and told me they were already past closing. She offered me a "quick cleaning" or told me I would have to come back. I had no problems or treatment recommendations at my summer appointment. At this appointment though, 7 procedures were recommended, and the dentist mentioned replacing an old crown, despite it not being cracked/loose/problematic. When I got to the finance coordinator I discovered that secondary insurance had still not been put on my account, despite having it for over a year and a half and asking for that at each previous appointment. (My insurer doesn't provide cards). Each previous time they took my plan and employer name and I was told it would be added to my account. While going through the plan, I inquired about an extra $100 fee. Two employees didn't know and the manager had to ask but said it was due to the sedative RX. Again, felt like a money grab, but there is usually a nitrous fee so maybe its standard. Bothersome though because it's higher than the nitrous fee.. Also, if three staff members can't answer a basic question that is concerning. The plan was to make an appointment and do the cleaning and *several* procedures at the same time, which seems excessive and would not have been necessary had there been better schedule management. I left the appointment with a nagging feeling that that was quite a lot of decline in 6 months' time, and I decided to get a second opinion. I called Hilde directly after I made a consultation appointment and requested that my last x-rays and treatment plan be sent over. The receptionist said the person who handled records was out but asked when my appt was. I told her she said that the employee would be back and able to get them over before my appt, that it would be easy since it was not the whole file. Unsurprisingly, nothing was sent over. I called to ask what happened and was put on with the records person. She said there was no record of my request, and would not work with me even though I needed the xrays and was standing at my appt. Kept repeating that nobody would have told me that, and that I had to come in and sign their waiver. I mentioned maybe the staff is not trained properly, citing the insurance issue, and again was told nobody would have said that and it was up to me to provide a card. Demeanor was extremely condescending, dismissive, and accusatory (like I was lying) and never was there any attempt at customer service, like acknowledging there may have been a miscommunication etc. At no time did I cuss or yell to warrant such poor treatment. I finally told her I would come in to sign the waiver and she hung up on me. Because my insurance had cycled, the new dentist just did new x-rays. After a thorough exam he determined that I no cavities. No treatments were recommended, let alone 7. He also confirmed that while my filling was old school, it was in good shape with no problems. After being a offered subpar cleaning, mysterious fees, and a rude manager I will NEVER again go back to Hilde. I don't care how convenient their hours are, it's not ok to mislead people and recommend unnecessary treatments. read more

Do not go there! Looks are deceiving! Their facility is state of the art. Hours are convenient. The staff seems professional. But they are very expensive. They do not have many financing options. We have been unhappy for a while but continued going. Recently, they goofed up on our billing. They put my charges under my husband's name. We got mad. I paid it as soon as I became aware of it. My boyfriend and I recently started going to Hilde due to their weekend availability. However I needed my first crown done and agreed to the appointment. I had previously discussed with my dentist (who is great), that I am anxious with needles and may require more than nitrous. When I called to schedule my first of two crown appointments, I said I was interested in heavier sedation and that I understood I would pay for it OOP. I mentioned again three days before my appointment only to find out the next day I have to get a physical script from my dentist and he wouldn't be there until the day of my appointment. Additionally, at the time of writing this I have had my temporary crown in for almost a month. I was told two weeks max to get the permanent, but that it only takes few days usually. After a week I had been calling 1-2x/week and had gone in personally only for them to tell my boyfriend after three weeks they don't know where it is. I called earlier this evening to have a stop payment on my crown as I wasn't gonna pay for something fully if I wasn't getting the full treatment only for the patient care rep to tell me my crown arrived 4 days after my temporary was placed. These guys are poor communicators in addition to being money sharks. They pressure you to schedule procedures and require down payments on things like fillings without explaining all the costs and insurance coverage. Love our dentist but absolutely despise the support staff. read more

a month ago I was very pleased with their dentistry, but their billing process is incredibly suspicious. I had to pre pay for my services (which is odd) and when I questioned about it I was told because they have had a lot of no shows and it cost to have the Dr. come in. I pre paid to have an extraction done and when I went in for my appt. he dentist said my blood pressure was too high and didn't feel comfortable preforming the extraction. At that time, I agree that my blood pressure was very high and that was in August. After getting my BP regulated it's now December and I call to set up an appt. to get that extraction done. I get quoted a price over $300. I told the person on the phone that I already paid for my service...BP...dentist wouldn't do it...blah blah blah and she puts me on hold. She comes back and says my insurance would pay a portion of it and that's why it's over $300. I said that doesn't make sense because I was about to have the procedure done and when I met with the billing lady she broke down my out of pocket portion, that I already paid. Terrible office! They over use benefits by prescribing treatments that are not necessary. Once I questioned them their response was always "well its covered" the assistant actually told me I was neglecting my daughter by questioning and disagreeing with all their recommendations when I just wanted a cleaning. They will xray lil kids every 6 months even with no problems and if you question it they will get an attitude and threaten to not see you any more. We they will never see my family ever again! beware this place! Its our patient rights to ask questions and we have the right to refuse treatments. Get second opions. I used to be a patient here. At my last visit, it really felt as though the hygenist was being timed. The cleaning was super rushed and I swear it took under 15 minutes. I went to a new dentist yesterday and learned that an area under a bridge hadn't been professionally cleaned at all, apparently for years, and had a brick of built up tartar (GROSS!!!). They just didn't clean it. But I'm not surprised. This place is about volume, not quality of care. Period. They had the audacity to randomly schedule me for a routine appointment "out of courtesy" on a Saturday without every checking in with me about it. And they have billboards in town saying "$0 dental cleanings!" -- with dental insurance. EVERY dentist offers $0 cleanings with dental insurance. This place should be reported to the health department. They are beyond awful. Avoid at all costs. read more

I had to get my wisdom tooth pulled and my regular dentist called to reschedule for another 2 weeks out. I called all over and came across this place, who said they could get me in on the upcoming Saturday, which was only 3 days away. I told them I had insurance and gave them my information. When I got to my appointment, I was charged a $50 fee for an "emergency" visit. I was not told this when I made the appointment. I asked them."How was this an emergency if I had to schedule an appointment 3 days out?" They just said it was their policy. When I got back to the room, they took xrays and this is when I was told that they weren't going to pull my tooth and it was just an exam. I explained to them that I was told they would pull the tooth. After some debate, they agreed to pull it. Before they did any work, they told me that I would have to cover the full thing, which was another $470. My girlfriend, who was in the room with me, specifically asked if I would be refunded the money as soon as my insurance was verified. My girlfriend asked this question twice and 3 different people said yes I let them pull the tooth.i called Monday morning, like they told me to do, and the lady told me that my insurance was verified but they would not refund my money. They would only refund it after my insurance paid it. Now mind you, I gave up my rent money for this! What is the point if verifying my insurance if they are already paid in full.? read more

The Dentist are good but the billing office is extremely questionable. I found out there was an insurance adjustment for $115.00. Rather than send me a bill, call or email me about owing this adjustment sum, the billing office sent it to a collection agency. I called to get details but they offered me no information. I was upset about sending this minor bill to collections and for not being notified re this adjustment bill, but the woman in billing office was no help. She was rude and hung up on me. There is absolutely no recourse for their faulty billing or errors that affect their patients. I'm done with Hilde dentistry! After a decade of always paying my bills on the spot, this is how I was treated by them. This is not right no matter how you look at it. No justification at all. Beware. I've been looking at the reviews from 2019 to today ever since they moved their office to this fancy new place and the reviews have tanked and most of them are to do with communication and billing so people just stay away from this business because they will not be helpful or will they treat you with any respect. I know someone who worked here. Dr Hilde is all about production and not quality. He does A LOT of large fillings on children that don't need it. The more surfaces of the teeth he fills, the more $ be makes btw, and the hygiene column is run like an assembly line. Way to make ur patients feel like they r going thru a car wash and getting unnecessary treatment done and over treatment planning. DO NOT GO HERE!! They don't care about their patients. Over several months, I had the worst dental experience of my life at the hands of these people, culminating in two failed attempts to install a prosthetic tooth before they finally managed to accomplish it on the third visit. That was the last straw. On previous visits, they over-anesthetized me to the point that I was shaking and almost incoherent and also tried and failed to extract a tooth. Their patient communication is abysmal - only after pressing them repeatedly did I finally learn that they were having problems with their lab (unless that was just an excuse for the tooth they couldn't install until the third visit/attempt). A process that should have taken two weeks at most stretched over nearly two months. I could go on, but I refuse to waste any more energy on these people. My rating is not for quality of work. My husband and daughter had cleanings there and were pleased. My experience with the blond receptionists have been great. My daughter needs 2 small fillings on the same tooth and the receptionist (a different one) quoted me for $300. This is high for no insurance let alone my really good dental insurance. For such a minor procedure that is covered through insurance doesn't make sense. When I said I had to get a quote somewhere else she was totally ok with losing an entire family of patients. From my first contact with the hygienist to Dr. Smith and his surgical assistant - very nice, respectful, approachable, and caring. Most of all they all seemed genuine. I've been going to Hilde Family Dentistry for 4 years. My experience was always good, the hygienist that cleaned my teeth twice a year was the primary reason I stayed. I don't recall ever seeing the same dentist twice at Hilde, which is unusual. In 2020 I went in for my semi-annual cleaning and saw yet another new dentist. She recommended that I have a crown replaced, and happened to have time to do it immediately. I consented. When I returned the following week to have the crown put on it was the wrong color (lab's fault, not the dentist). When I returned again to have to next crown put on the dentist (yet another one) commented this wasn't his crown, at which point I learned the dentist that recommended the replacement was in a "working interview." I found out this is legal, but I feel they should have told me this was not a dentist that had been hired by Hilde. In fact, she was NOT hired. I feel duped and ripped off. When I returned for my cleaning in 2021 I commented that the crown did not feel right, I couldn't chew the skin of an apple anymore, the dentist of the day glanced at it and said "it looks fine to me." That was the last straw. I'm not returning to Hilde. Also, when I called to inquire about the charges related to the crown because the statement showed charges that didn't make sense to me (note this was 6 months after the crown had been done) I found out Hilde owed me $187. They never would have disclosed this if I had not inquired. I have no confidence in Hilde and I believe their practices are questionable. read more

This is tough for me to write . My hygienist was exceptional in every way. It had been several years since I'd been in for a cleaning. She was thorough and did a great job. I will go back and have her clean my teeth again. My rating reflects how I felt as a customer . They advertise free cleaning and check up. Being on a fixed income I made it clear that financially I couldn't pay anything and I asked more than once because they did alot for free. They kept referring to signing me up for an annual dental plan for 250 plus dollars. I stated I didn't get paid for a couple weeks. I kept thinking about this and wanted to continue going back , not because it was free , but she did a great job. My thoughts continued thinking that since my teeth were healthy and really needed no extra work , that id simply pay in six months to have them cleaned . I inquired and they told me my initial visit was 600 dollars plus of free work and it would be maybe 400 to 500 hundred to have them cleaned in the future , hence saving a ton on their plan. I felt pretty small at their explanation and certainly didn't just seek out free service . I had full intentions of being a return customer which I'd think would be their goal . A cleaning average is maybe 140 dollars without x-rays. A week after my visit I get what totally resembles a billing statement in the mail ( they had stated they couldn't do payments, which was my initial offer). The statement basically wanted full payment for their plan. I feel their plan includes recouping the initial free visit, maybe not the first year. If they had let me make some sort of payments and not crammed a bill down my throat , and most importantly not made me feel like I was cheating them , I would have become a loyal future customer. Lesson . I guess nothing is free despite the advertised deal. Made me not trust. read more

I don't like a dentist that makes you wait while he does a sales pitch to a patient who came in after me. My visit was for a check up. I left after the assistant did the scraping because the dentist walked right past my chair to the next one and started his pitch. I listened to three long songs and decided to leave after the third one because I refuse to wait for someone who does not know how to prioritize patients. They were expecting me to sit through an extensive sales pitch? NO WAY! Not to mention the receptionist waited till after I walked up to the desk to check out did she inform me of the cost, and, no discount for extremely poor service!!! What a racket!!
