We came to the store to get food for our deer. They have a deer pellets and alfalfa and corn for the deer. They also have very healthy treats for dogs and other animals as well. The best way for me to describe this store is a good old-fashioned country store with kind , loving country people. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They have this beautiful cat that walks around the store and he is beautiful too! The store is a little hard to find But well worth the search. I highly recommend you visit. read more

i buy most of my horse feeds and hay here, however I do not really like this place. The inside desk staff is friendly and helpful as a general rule, however I don't understand their hay delivery schedule and when I ask the answer is always "no" we can't do it that day. I am a so-called premium customer (or whatever they call that program), but can't figure out how that benefits me as one of the perks was supposed to be priority hay delivery, or so I thought. I do get the hay eventually but I wish they had a more responsive delivery system. Also, the staff out back who loads are NOT friendly and when I once complained about another customer jumping line to load first, they were very snotty about it, essentially saying "why didn't you just jump in when you had a chance." Which shows a lack of integrity on their part and that of other customers being rewarded. If I had a better alternative I'd use them. read more

I have been a customer at Hill Country for 25 years and never realized until today they have been passing one of their business expenses on to the customer. If you use your credit card to purchase their merchandise they will charge you a processing fee of 3%. They have a small sign next to the register to warn you. They are allowed too deduct that fee from their income tax, however, the customer can not. Are they going to want the customer to pay their utility bills next? I will no longer be shopping there. read more

I went to Hill Country for the first time for hay bales for cattle. I saw these 5 star reviews, so I wanted to try this store. I used my horse trailer and backed up to the large truck where bales were stored. The kid on the truck started throwing, I mean violently throwing, the bales of hay down onto the horse trailer, like it was just garbage. Many bales almost came apart and a lot of hay was dislodged from the bales as they impacted the trailer with a lot of force. No else was there to help at the time, so I had to pick up each bale and stack it on the trailer myself and I quickly had to reshape each bale as I stacked it, while again watching a good amount of hay being bounced off each bale. Only until after the trailer was almost full, did someone else come along to help, for the last few bales...nice. This place is more expensive than other supply stores, and other feed stores usually use e a loader to transfer bales onto a truck. This place seems to be all by hand, and the service was forceful and disrespectful, as you just don't throw bales 15-20 feet down onto a customers trailer like garbage, while a good amount of hay bounces off the bales. It shows a complete lack of regard for the customer to treat a product like this, especially since it was more expensive than some of the competition. I was tired by the time we finished and I feel I should not have had to pick up each bale to stack it by hand. Horrible customer service and treatment of product. I will never go there again and stronly recommend anyone to seek another feed supplier. read more

My husband and I love this place! We've fed our German short haired pointer a few different foods but every time we go back to the teal Victor bag that's sold here - he devours it. Definitely makes a dog mom happy to see her pup not skip breakfast haha. The owners and employees are so nice here too! As another reviewer stated, they carry your large items into your car. So when we bought a 50 lb bag of dog food, that's exactly what they did! Even with my husband there. Such great service and we are blessed to have a feed store so close to home. read more

My 5 horses are on a feed program where I cannot get their food at the chain store(s). I have shopped out their feed (Triple Crown Senior Gold and ProElite Grass Advantage) at 2 other places, but Hill Country Feed has the best prices, hands down. They are always polite, courteous and responsive whenever I have emailed or called. They don't laugh when I bring the car and have to load it to the top with bags of grain; they just make it work so I can get it home. And I love the fact that they're open on Saturdays and Sundays since I can't make it on weekdays. Plus, my daughter loves to see the store cats! Who doesn't love a store cat?! read more
