I love Tomlinson's selection. But, this specific location just can't get it right! Every time we've been here we've had an issue with being double charged. And every time they claim that it only went through once on their end, and that I needed to get with my bank (who have confirmed every time that there was duplicate charges from their end). My solution has been to stop coming to this store and I now drive the extra few miles to the University Blvd. location. Have not had this issue since! read more

I can't tell you how much I truly appreciate this store and it's employees. Keagan (hope that's how you spell his name) and his associate stayed open past closing time to let me run in at the last minute and purchase food for my pups. I was panicked because I was told in the 12th hour that our pups were out of food and had to rush to get to the nearest store before closing time. Both my dogs have sensitive stomachs and can't handle anything else except for a specific raw food brand that Tomlinson carries. I moved from North Austin to close to the border with Cedar Park, and used to be a regular Pet Supplies Plus customer. I popped in here to get dog food which is a specialty brand for my dog Bubba, and also later on purchased a dog collar/leash for him too because the old set I had was getting unusable. Not only do you guys sell high quality products which is awesome but your staff is top-notch. They are friendly, personable and care about your needs as a customer. One in particular, Gabby, is a huge asset to your staff. Both times I came in, she was friendly, personable, knowledgeable and very professional in dealing with me. I have been in sales and customer support for almost two decades; and been a sales trainer too. So I know good and capable service when I see it. I went in with my son to get dog food. They had some sort of incense or something, it smelled gross. He has a dog of his own, I went in to show him some drops that calmed my dog that I put in her ears that I purchased at the company some years ago. The employee that tried to "help" was very aggressive. I didn't appreciate that. She said they had never sold anything like that in their shop that goes in the ears "the best items to use must be ingested like CBD" and would ask if it had been years ago. I didn't ask for her to "help" with this because I had the bottle at home. I didn't catch the employee's name because I did t like her energy or condescending manner. When I didn't want to renew my subscription, I got the death stare. I will not be returning. I will go to my regular, cheaper and friendlier pet store in Austin. read more

Absolutely love this location. The manager JD is beyond amazing. I was really having a hard time deciding what steps to take next in transitioning my dog Koda over to raw food and he answered every question and told me his different experiences with each product which definitely helped me be less anxious. He is always in a great mood and is always ready to help no matter how hard the question. I have referred several friend to this location and hope that they have just as positive experience as I did. Tomlinson's is a great locally owned pet store that gives back to the community. Since opening their first location in 1946 Tomlinson's has been dedicated to offering healthy, natural pet products and the team members are trained in pet nutrition. This location is always well staffed and check on customers often. The employees are very knowledgable about where products are located in the store and based on your purchases are quick to show you some other items you might be interested. My cats are having a harder time digesting as they creep up in age and they have made some suggestions on pet food that would be easier for them to digest. They also shared it is best to mix the new food with the old food so it easier for their body to switch to the new stuff. Tomlinson's carries lots of grain/soy/wheat free pet food, Texas based brands like Merrick and raw pet food. One of my favorite finds is the Tomlinson's Chicken Chips sourced from a farm in Dripping Springs, Texas. They are made from hormone-free, antibiotic-free Texas chickens and the treats do not contain artificial flavoring or preservatives. Besides pet food and treats they also carry a variety of chews, toys, puzzles and grooming products. They offer a pet club that gets you 10% off food for a year for $7.50. If you buy here often it is worth it in the long run. Tomlinson's hosts onsite adoptions, make product donations and often work with pet food companies on various promotions benefiting local animal shelters. Right now they are running a "pound for pound" promotion which customers can buy dog food for donation and the pet food company will match it. If you are dedicated to shopping local, prefer quality pet products and excellent service this is your store. read more

Tomlinson's North just moved into their new Cedar Park location in the HEB parking lot on Parmer Ln @ Whitestone. I love their south Lamar location so after work today I went to browse for dog toys while waiting out rush hour traffic. Yes, I admit I am a crazy dog Momma - I would rather wait out rush hour shopping for dog toys than hit up a Happy Hour:) This location is huge and less cramped than their S location with all the same bulk bends and only Super Premium dog food - no Pedigree here. I went in looking for a doggie life jacket for boating this weekend and totally forgot to ask if they had them after getting mesmerized by all the toys.... Their Grand Opening is tomorrow with lots of free stuff so check them out if you have a pet. read more

Any place that lets kids run free to get into stuff without a complaint, is awesome in my book. Picked up some new food for our first born ' today. The manager was great in recommending new options based on our current and changing needs. F has taken to turning a nose up at to his current food... this could be due to his complimentary diet of frozen French toast, waffles and toddler snacks or maybe just allergies. Signed up to be a pet club member for $7.50/yr which offers a 10% savings. Today, I only saved a $1 after the club fee but look forward to that 10% savings in the future. They offer a lot of grain free selection but you'll pay a pretty penny for the health of your animals. It doesn't come cheap. They currently offer a Yelp check in for one free pound of dog biscuits. You get a brown paper bag and get to scooping from their bins of fun flavored biscuits; cranberry, pumpkin, peanut butter etc. They were helpful and nice. Even helped me out to the car. read more

I was a little disappointed in the customer service there. They never asked if we needed help with anything. I'm glad I did find Taste of the Wild as I wanted my kitten to try it. And it was at a good price. Just wish the two young ladies working behind the counter had better customer service, it made me feel unwelcomed in the store. When we got to the counter, I told them " good afternoon ladies, how are y'all doing today?" And they just looked at each other without a word or acknowledging me. WOW. Huge selection of super premium food and treats. When I visited, they were having a rescue dog appreciation event where they would match food donations to rescues. They also had a small rescue group with a couple dogs for adoption. I have 2 rescues myself so I really appreciated that. The food was pretty pricey, it is all very high end stuff. There are a few lower price (but quality) brands. They have it all- raw, dehydrated, frozen, kibble, canned. Sojos, California Naturals, Lotus, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, Tripett, Tiki Pet, Merrick, and more. I use Dog Food Advisor and they rate practically all of these foods very highly. My favorite part of the store was all the treats. That includes bulk bins of chews and treats-- duck feet, cow ears, moo tubes, biscuits, bully sticks, etc. They had many dry and bagged treats too. I picked up a pound of assorted natural chews and a pound of dehydrated sardines. Leashed dogs welcome. If you're up for spending a little extra, try this store. They do offer a 10% off food store discount program for $7.50. So if you buy $75 worth of food here per year, this is worth purchasing. I probably won't buy that much here as I do not live in the area, but whenever I am in Cedar Park I'll probably stop by this place. read more

I've only been to this store a few times just because I live more central but if I'm house sitting in Cedar Park I usually stop in with my pups. The staff has always been nice and I do like that they have a great selection of treats and food! By way of toys, they don't have a huge selection but they do have some great fleece balls that my pup loves and since I live in an apartment, I think my neighbors like it too! As far as pricing goes, they're at par with everyone else by way of their food and treats. The only improvement I would say is to carry some higher quality leashes such as Lupine or Ruff Wear. This place is also one of the few in town that carries the Pet Odor Eliminator candles and car fresheners which are without a doubt the best to get rid of pet odor, not cover up and they do so in a hurry! This place also has one of the largest selections of raw food I've seen in Austin so if you are one for that, stop in! They have wide selection of raw treats too! I do feel like they tried talking me into food that I had clearly stated I wasn't interested in: Taste of the Wild. I had given my reason for not feeding it, among them was that one of my dogs doesn't like any of the varieties and will only eat every 3-4 meals when I've fed it in the past. They also were pushing raw foods he didn't like, seemed that they put too much personal opinion into my food choices than an objective one. Still a great place with great variety! So, I'm well versed in the "knowledge" of pet food at other large chain stores, and needless to say Tomlinson's far surpasses theirs. I very much appreciate what they did for my youngest, who was having some nutrition issues that the vet couldn't even address. Their employees are very knowledgeable about the food and could recommend something that fixed the issue in a matter of days. I do have to remove one star for price, however, because they do have the most outrageous prices of any specialty store I've shopped at. I will be buying food there regularly, though. I recommend joining their club (it takes 5$ to join, but it saves you a ton each time you buy a large bag of food. This year alone, I've saved 30 on Taste of The Wild.) read more

I had been meaning to stop by here for a while, since it is right next to HEB and check it out. Today I was looking for kitty toys and a mat to go under my kitty's dish area in the kitchen. Unfortunately, they didn't have the mat I was looking for, (nor did HEB) but that's alright. I found some neat kitty toys and had a look around. The lady that I spoke with at the register was incredibly helpful and gave me some samples and fliers - I will definitely be back! The only reason I didn't give Tomlinson's 5 stars is because I wish they had more selection for cats. They had a lot of stuff for dogs, but only one small aisle devoted for cats, then one for small animals/birds - and it appeared that the rest of the store was more devoted for dogs. Their toy selection was "ok" and they did have some things I hadn't seen anywhere else..I'd just like to see more! read more

Tomlinson's is the place to get all the high-quality dog food your "kids" deserve. We used to think we were doing our dogs right by staying away from grocery store dog food and buying at Petco/Petsmart. But then we found out about what all goes into dog food nowadays (from dogfoodadvisor.com) and we now get our 5 Star dog food... which is only available locally at Tomlinson's. If you don't know your way around the store, call first to have a "friendly customer service rep" answer your questions or hold the item(s). Once there, I've been on my own on every time. Their reps need to learn what courtesy means. Would it hurt to ask a customer if they needed help, act friendly behind the counter, just the basics of customer service. The products are great quality. Quality is important, I'm willing to pay for it because my little ones are worth it. I'll go somewhere else to get it though because I'm worth it. read more

The employees at this Tomlinsons are wonderful! The 2 kittens I fostered were placed at this store and were there for about 5 weeks before they were adopted. For those 5 weeks, the staff took amazing care of them! I always looked forward to visiting my fosters and talking with the staff about how they had been over the week. My dog LOVES going here! We live about a 1/2 mile away, so he loves it when I take him on a nice long walk, he knows he'll likely get a treat/toy. At the Cedar Park location we bought a leash, dog treats and a nylon toy and the total came out to $67. Seriously? $32 for a LEASH? And our dog broke the over-priced toy in a matter of an hour. I'm not at all impressed with their over-inflated prices and small selection. I love my animals, but I think will stick with Petsmart from here on out. I don't think my dog really cares that I drop $7 on dog treats there instead of $15 at Tomlinson's. read more

This is an awesome small business operation. There are a few locations which make things convenient. Love the club for $7.50 a year. You get ten percent off every purchase. They also hold vaccination clinics very reasonably priced. We buy the Fromm dog food from them at a considerably less price than anywhere else around. read more

In the past two years, I have made exactly two visits to a Tomlinson's Pet Supplies store. In both cases, the reason for my visit was simply because I had run out of dry food for one of my dogs (Orijen Senior) on a day when it would be inconvenient to drive to my normal store, Pet Supplies Plus. The first visit, over a year ago, was to the RR 620 store, which happened to be on my way to another appointment and seemed convenient enough for me to make an exception in order to have food at home that evening. I had no issue locating the food on the shelf and once I came to the counter to pay for my purchase, the store associate asked if I was a member of the "Pet Club". Although I already have a sound customer relationship with Pet Supplies Plus and have consistently enjoyed my shopping experience there, I permitted her to explain the details of the Pet Club. After receiving the information, despite the cost savings overall, I politely declined the offer. The store associate disregarded my polite refusal and again persisted in attempting to convince me to concede and pay the membership fee for the Pet Club. After an additional polite refusal, I received a somewhat sarcastic resigned sigh from the sales associate (as if to say "that's your loss"), who then finally rang up my purchase. Fast forward to a year later and with my hectic schedule that week, I ran into the same dilemma as mentioned earlier. Again, I happened to be driving by the new store on University Blvd. in Round Rock and in the interest of giving Tomlinson's another opportunity, chose to purchase my Orijen Senior there. As before, I found the item without issue and when I came to the counter to pay for my purchase, I was again asked by the sales associate if I was a member of the Pet Club. Having already familiarized myself with the details from my visit the year before, I politely declined the offer. Without fail, the sales associate brushed aside my refusal and continued to press on with all the advantages and benefits of the Pet Club. Again, I politely refused, adding that I was pressed for time (which I was) and simply wanted to conclude my purchase and be on my way. At this point, a second sales associate came out from behind the shelves and began inquiring as to where I normally purchase my food. By this point I was fairly exasperated with the insistent "hard sell" tactic of the associates, but in the interest of maintaining my composure, I answered the associate's questions at which point he again began rattling off all the savings I'd be missing out on (as if to attempt to explain something to a child or someone incapable of processing basic math skills). I finally cut him off, tersely said "I'll live", to emphasize my refusal of the offer, paid for my purchase and gathered my food. On my way out the door, apparently that associate saw fit to make an offhanded remark to the cashier who rang up my purchase as well as to the other customers that were standing behind me while I was paying, resulting in a good bit of laughter from the group as I exited. Sincerely, I am not certain whether the corporate office, sales managers, and/or marketing department are promoting a sales incentive to the associates who sell the most Pet Club memberships, but in my personal experience, there is nothing more aggravating and unpleasant than having a visit to a pet store turn into something akin to being at a car dealership. Although sales prices, cost savings, and discounts are a significant factor that goes into a consumer's choice of where to shop, for some of us, it is not the ONLY nor is it the PRIMARY factor upon which we make our choices. Speaking for myself, it is far more important that when I visit a retailer, my requests and needs as a customer are met as I ask, not as the salesperson thinks they should be. An efficient, peaceful, and smooth experience speaks volumes towards establishing a long-term relationship between me and the retailer. Are fair, competitive prices important? You bet. But not at the expense of not being respected, heard, and accommodated by staff. Tomlinson's sales associates, albeit well intended, are overbearing, excessive, and completely oblivious to the discomfort they can cause to a customer by simply not respecting their wishes to decline a sales offer. Everything in my words, body language, and demeanor on both occasions clearly said "I AM NOT INTERESTED", but all three were completely ignored in favor of insisting on me something I absolutely had no interest in purchasing. Had I not been so pressed for time, that final "humorous" remark by the sales associate as I was walking to the door would have resulted in my marching right back to the counter to request a full refund of the purchase. Not only would he have lost the new Pet Club inductee, but also an $80 sale of food. read more

This place is great. I have a great dane and did a lot of research to find the best brand of dog food for him. They offer a program for $7 or so a year and you get 10% or something like that off of the dog food. It's not much, but it's something! Also, there is a blonde girl that works there.. unsure of her name.. but she is very helpful every time we go. Sometimes my kids have to come with me and she will carry the bag to the register AND to my car for me. When I bring my dog, everyone loves on him and gives him treats. Awesome place!!! read more

Stopped on a whim after getting groceries next door and seeing that they had a Yelp check in offer. Was pleased to learn that in addition to carrying healthy pet foods and all sorts of dog goodies, Tomilson's carries a wealth of smart cat toys. Most pet supply stores have nothing but the same lame fuzzy mice and crinkle balls. Tomilson's has the full line of Go Cat toys that Jackson Galaxy recommends, Thunder Shirts for cats, awesome enrichment toys I've never seen before! Needless to say, we blew a fast $50 on cat toys that the fur kids are absolutely in love with and we'll be sure to stop here after grocery shopping from now on! PS - I'm glad there are no puppies sold here or I wouldn't have spent a nickel. There were 2 bunnies and some birds. I'd really like them to be rescue/adoptions too and will likely inquire if they are next time I'm in. It's very important to me to support ethical pet supply shops that do not sell live animals and I know Tomilson's hosts adoption events regularly so kudos to them! read more
