STEER CLEAR: HILL COUNTRY FLOORING Please learn from my mistakes. I started a bathroom remodel with another contractor who was highly underqualified and took on too big of a job. He tiled my primary shower without hardy board or any waterproofing and left the shower valve leaking behind the wall. Chris Campbell of Hill Country was very helpful at first. He revealed to me how poor the other contractors work was and showed me mold infested walls surrounding my shower. At that point, I released the other contractor and engaged Chris to complete the work. Chris/Hill Country started out fast and furious, but quickly turned to weeks with no action at my house. He was also quick to demand payments, but never sent workers. The workers that did show up all complained that Chris does not pay them fairly nor on time. Hearing that started to explain why it was so hard to get workers out to my house to finish the job. There were no fewer than three different subs sent out to cut one arch in a wall between my kitchen and dining room. The last sub was of such poor quality that he redid the arch twice, and it still looks like a kindergartener did it. I had ordered some cabinets for this same space, which Chris said were ready weeks ago. But once the arch was "completed" he said there was an issue with some of the doors and that they would be delivered the following week. A week later, the cabinets never showed up. I still have never seen these cabinets. The more I pressed Chris and asked for explanations and schedules, the more he ignored me. He does not respond, he will not answer his phone, he does not come out and check the work of subcontractors. He talks a really good game but does not deliver. We began working with Hill Country Flooring earlier this year to help us remove carpet in our dining room and replace it with laminate flooring. When we first reached out to them, they were very responsive and polite. Shaine gave us a quick estimate. He was very good at helping us choose flooring. There were a few delays in scheduling our service, but nothing that was a red flag. On the day of install, the worker showed up before Shaine and unfortunately spoke no English. While not a problem, we do not speak Spanish and had trouble communicating right off the bat. When Shaine arrived we hoped he'd be able to communicate with this worker. But Shaine spoke about as much Spanish as we did. Which was our first red flag. After pulling up the carpet, the worker only used a small amount of leveler which was our second red flag. When the worker finished placing all the panels and left, we immediately noticed the majority of the floorboards were loose (third flag). We messaged Shaine and didn't hear back for several days (all the red flags). Finally he returned our calls and sent the worker back to our house. The worker returned, pulled up all the floor boards, and added more leveler. This still didn't help. I'll give the worker credit, he stayed at our house until 8pm trying to fix it the best way he could. But clearly he was out of his element with this material. We texted Shaine and asked him specifically to come back and look at the issue and see what could be done. That is when he stopped responding. Both my husband and I called, texted, and reached out with every form of communication for weeks with no response. Finally, we called three other contractors we trust to come look at the issue. They all were appalled by what they saw. The type of laminate we ordered required a pad to go underneath that was not mentioned to us at all. They also did not pull up the baseboards to allow the floors to go all the way to the wall, leaving gaps on the edges of our flooring. All three contractors told us that Hill Country Flooring screwed up this job and they recommended we contest the charges for materials on our credit card. Which we did. While we waited on their response we discovered lawsuits that have been filed against Chris the owner. We've discovered that in the past two years they have screwed over multiple contractors and customers. It looks like Chris is attempting to open an media consulting firm now that is also getting called out for being a scam. I looked at all the reviews and I saw they had overall a good rating. I wish I had looked at the most recent reviews. I would have clearly seen how far this company has fallen. read more

We hired Chris Campbell from Hill Country Flooring for a complete home remodel budgeting over $100k, for a $1M+ home We were initially excited as his rates were the best from the estimates we've received, and he also promised us a lot of free things and told he had done 100s of projects. Chris is a smooth talker and a very good salesman, so something to be very careful about. Spoiler alert. We had a horrifying experience dealing with him. All our nightmares came true. Everything from poor quality, defects, work out of sequence, unlicensed craftsmen, never being on site, never providing instructions to the crew, not having any proper equipment like portapotties or dumpsters, throwing the debris in the backyard, not answering texts, not picking up phone call, lying & threatening, We ended up becoming the GCs on our own projects. We had to the property every day, work directly with the crew, provide them instructions do the quality checks, and Chris was nowhere to be found. He kept asking for draws, and obviously, we ended up in a situation where he had taken more money than the work that he had delivered. Finally, there were three major strikes after which we had to fire him. Strike one was when he completely screwed up our kitchen cabinet design and hired a cheap supplier who brought mismatched kitchen cabinets. We had to spend 4k extra on a new appliances due to the wrong cabinet design. The kitchen cabinets had a lot of defects in the way they were installed. We also learned that he doesn't have one standing crew that he hires all the time. He hires people, that are usually not able to get jobs on their own, who are unlicensed and have no track record. Most were from Thumbtack. many couldnt speak English even and had never worked with him before. Strike 2 was when the flooring was completely messed up. We had paid in our contract for glue down flooring, but Chris's guy floated the flooring in the entire home. That caused a lot of work to be redone, a lot of material to be wasted, and a lot of extra time that it added to the project. Strike 3 was when Chris started running into trouble in his personal life. He was moving and he was buying a new home and he had some trouble with his financing and builder, and he told us that he was no longer going to manage the kitchen remodel and he asked us to deal directly with the granite countertop guys. Then We had to start that discussion, measurement, design, all of that from scratch with a guy that we had not even chosen or hired or had any experience with. Strike four really was when we were talking to the crew at working in our property, and they would often complain about not being paid on time, not being given instructions, and they would really be demotivated. They would not get the supplies that they need, like a dumpster or paint supplies or equipment. He would not answer their phone calls. We also found the crew drinking on the job as we saw beer and liquor bottles all over the yard. That would impact their morale, their quality of work, and they would sometimes just leave the job, and then he would have to hire another guy, which everything led to more and more delays. Our overall project was about 6-8 weeks, but it took more than six months and still didn't finish the project. The final straw was when Chris hired some guys to do the plumbing in the home, and they were unlicensed, used the wrong parts, and they flooded our almost complete home, almost complete floors. We were just lucky to visit the property at that time and stop the leakage in time. But that was the time where we decided to finally fire him. He tried all his tactics from bullying us to threatening us to cursing us to also crying and begging for money, swearing on his kids that he would finish the job. But none of that was true. Unfortunately, he might be going through a bad patch in his life, but Chris turned out to be a liar, a crook. He didn't pay many of the craftsmen that worked at our home. We felt really bad for them because we paid Chris almost $100,000 and got work which was probably 60 or 70% of that and many poor craftsmen didn't get paid. We then had to hire a plumber, tile guy, painter, an electrician, and a big cleaning crew to fix all the quality issues that he had in the home, which cost us a lot more than we had planned. We also had to spend a lot more time at the property because of that. In the end, he still kept asking for money and has put a lien on our property, which we are currently in court to fight out. Stair nosing was ordered three months ago, promised on June 15th, this was two weeks after we put our house on the market. I was promised it was going to be installed on 24... not even a phone call to say they weren't going to show up, promised again for installation today (26th) not even a phone call to say they were standing me up again. Communication is non existent, constant phone calls and wasted time on my end. Had to give one star, negative stats weren't an option Update, they are out of business just went by their shop. Update... it appears they are still in business they closed their storefront. I was able to pick up my missing stair nosing, it had arrived on the ninth, they didn't bother to tell me, I physically possessed it on the 26th. I did the installation myself on the 27th. No apologies, no anything.. I would never use this Flooring company again, I highly suggest everyone steer clear, you will save yourself a lot of heartache. read more

Unfortunately, all of these 1-star reviews are accurate. My experience with Hill Country Flooring was one of the worst I've ever had with a remodeling project. Chris is unreliable both as a project manager and in providing the support you expect when hiring a professional. Don't be fooled. At the start, he presents himself well, using industry jargon to sound knowledgeable. However, he consistently overpromises and undercuts competitors, only to deliver subpar results. He hires unqualified subcontractors who cause damage to your home, waste materials, fail at practicing standard construction practices, and then have the audacity to claim the job is complete. When issues arise--and they will--Chris becomes unresponsive, avoiding calls and failing to provide competent workers to fix major construction mistakes. "Unprofessional" is overstating credentials here. This clearly crosses into actionable negligence, damage to real property, infliction of emotional distress and quite possibly other legal violations. This company took over $7,000 as a deposit for a small hardwood floor install. After I requested a few weeks for my busy season at work to die down before scheduling the work (which would have taken 3 business days), the compnay stopped responding to calls and emails once I reached back out to get started or refund my money. Fortunately, I was able to get my money back through my bank, but it could have easily gone the other way with me trying to get my money back through the court system. This company is very unprofessional, disreputable, and clearly has some serious finance problems in reading other reviews. Chris Campbell is a thief! After giving Chris $14,000 to do our floors he spent almost a month and only completed about 40% of the work. He has stopped answering calls or texts. The installers showed up asking us for money since Chris never actually paid them. The flooring supplier he ordered through also have not been paid. He stole our money and left our home a wreck. It's going to cost us at least another $10,000 just to finish the project. Given his pattern of stealing and scamming it seems clear this goes beyond civil and well into criminal behavior. read more

At the request of our customers, we hired Chris Campbell / Hill Country Flooring for Hardwood and tile for new construction. The work that he did complete was terrible. He had 3 different tile crews and they all complained about not getting paid. He was suppose to complete the job in 6 weeks and it still was incomplete after 5 months. When it came time for Chris to deliver the hardwood that we paid over $60,000.00 for in advance, he didn't show up and quite responding to phone calls and text(s), Chris basically stole $60,000.00 from our customers. We used Hill Country Flooring to replace the carpet on our stairs with wood. We had some hiccups along the way when our stair noses didn't match the wood planks for the treads, but Chris worked with Mohawk Flooring (the manufacturer) to send new stair noses. Chris's crews are fabulous (Eddie and his guys installed the stairs and Emerson painted). I am incredibly happy with the stairs and we got a great deal. I got 6 quotes from other companies and this was by far the best price and Chris works with all flooring manufacturers so we had a huge selection to choose from. I wish Chris had been a little more communicative regarding the 2 month wait for stair noses and we had some issues scheduling the installation and paint, but other than that I was pleased. read more

A project slated to be "3-4 weeks" extended beyond 12 weeks without completion. Given the supply chain issues post-pandemic, I provided grace to Hill Country Flooring and made several attempts to reset on communication and expectations with Chris. Unfortunately, this was met with poor craftsmanship and a sincere lack of professionalism ranging from no-shows to continuous communication gaps. And yes, payment was made upfront. Some of our stair treads started warping and pulling up about six months after install. I reached out to Chris seven months ago to get this fixed. My first contact regarding this was 7/6/21. It took until 10/26/21 for someone to even come look at it. They confirmed it was an install error. It is now 1/30/22 and the repairs have still not been done. I have been told that people are out of the country, people have Covid, that someone will be here on a certain day. The day will come and go with nobody showing up and no response to my calls and texts. I either receive silence or excuses. It is always someone else's fault. I have copies of emails and texts documenting everything. I have never had this bad of an experience with a contractor. Cannot fully express how difficult this company has been and how much buyers need to beware. Let's start with the positive, their prices are fair. Now onto everything else, the work and service have been an absolute train wreck the entire time. The didn't show up the first day scheduled with no warning. The 2nd day they showed up without materials and couldn't work. The work schedule was originally 1 week and got delayed to 3 weeks. They did a mediocre at best job with the quality. They Didn't level the hallway, steps were loose, the tiler didn't speak English and didn't grout the tile as we specified. After that, apparently there was a billing issue on their end and they asked me to void the credit card charge so it could be rerun. Since that takes time, they apparently stiffed their subcontractors and we had the subcontractors reaching out to us threatening to file liens on our home. After 2 months of constant annoyance and frustration for a basic job, we were finally done. Until 30 days later when the loose step started coming undone and my 4 year old nearly fell down the stairs. From there I have been texting the owner of the company for over 9 weeks to get a step repaired. I have initiated follow ups 11 times in that period and it is still not done. We had an appointment booked and they no showed with no call. No call no show is pretty common with the group and happened numerous times. On top of that, no one from the actual company has come to see the sloppy work or inspect it. I CANNOT EXPRESS ENOUGH TO BE CAREFUL WITH THIS GROUP. I am not sure how to even begin to write this review without it being a novel, but I'll try my best. We hired Hill Country Flooring in October for a renovation job on a house we had recently purchased but not moved into that we were quoted would take 4-weeks. At the time, I allowed 8-weeks (time before we were to move in) for the renovation to complete because everyone told me that renovations never finish on time. I was also pregnant at the time, but not due until end-of-January so felt there was wayyyyyy more than enough time. My husband and I have never experienced as much stress as we did during the renovation which basically took a grand total nearly 4-months. That's right, it took almost 4x as long as we were quoted. Our renovation included: -New tile floors throughout -A shower demo (shower and tub removed, new shower added) -New baseboards -Fireplace removal -Wall demo -Kitchen remodel (countertops, backsplash, sink) -Bathrooms getting stone counters The reality of a renovation using Hill Country Flooring is as follows: -People will randomly not show up: There were many instances where we would visit the house and no one would be there. The "general contractor" will have no idea, even though he is the one that should know where workers are and when. If corrections are needed, you'll get told someone is "on the way" or "will be there tomorrow" but they will never show up. -The employees and workers are not competent: We wanted real wood baseboards, not MDF. They will show up with MDF baseboards and start installing them. When we asked why they used MDF the General Contractor would say "oh sorry we didn't know". In addition, someone who was an "expert" (Allied Stone, who they use for counters) would install counters but not seal them to the wall underneath. -They "forget" to do the free design session: We never got a design session, and never got a refund for not getting it. This would have been immensely helpful as many things did not turn out the way we wanted (No, they won't ask you if something looks ok, they will just assume you're fine with it. This resulted in our flooring having the completely wrong grout color, despite us bringing it up multiple times, no one fixed it. Also, we were never sat down to talk about what our custom shower would look like--I guess they were just going to do something random and not consult us!) -There is no clear liaison when you need help or have concerns: First it was Carlos, then Amanda, then both of them, then when things weren't getting done we contacted the CEO, who placated us but did nothing to make the situation better (no refund, no money back, was never able to guarantee completion timelines). Because there was no supervision of workers, things got damaged but never fixed (our bathtub needs to be resealed from damage from workers tools, a worker brought their child to the site who wrote all over our freshly painted cabinets, and many more instances of poor management that we had to fix ourselves) -Onus is on you as the Customer to manage everything: My husband I basically became general contractors--we had to go to the house at random times to manage things and ensure work was getting done--what is the point of paying a company if they aren't going to manage anything? There was no quality control except us. The quality of work is total crap: Poor texturing, wrong grout color, a shower seat debacle (They seriously could never get the shower seat right and we had to tell them to nix the whole thing), drywall getting messed up and never fixed, outlets getting removed and never patched up, I actually got electrocuted from an outlet, basically our house being left in worse condition than we found it. Our house has unsealed grout and drywall damage that never got fixed, even though some of it is 2+ months old If the company makes a mistake, expect an additional 4 or more weeks for it to be resolved: We asked for square sinks in all the bathrooms, they ordered and installed round ones. Once again, we were never asked if we were ok with the sinks, which would have saved all parties time and money. After telling them the sinks were wrong, it took 4 weeks and a series of wrong sinks being ordered, attempted installs, and more. We did not have sinks or faucets in our bathroom for weeks and it wasn't until we put our foot down and told them they need to give us a temporary solution that they installed fixtures while waiting for new sinks Save your money and go elsewhere. If we had known that renovating a house would cause such stress and produce such poor outcomes, we would have likely taken a very different path. Our house is unfinished and we will have to pay out of pocket to resolve some lasting concerns. read more

RUN!!! Chris will talk a great game at first to get a sale but once he has your money, good luck getting a hold of him! His team trashed our house, left beer cans, food, and trash EVERYWHERE. Removed the plumbing line from our toilet and you don't even want to know how they left that. Beside the mess they made, they didn't level our floor and the laminate is lifting in several areas all over our house (after only 3 months!!). We asked for him to install the laminate directly over our old flooring to save money on demoing and he said he couldn't because he needed to apply an "underlayment". Well, he didn't apply that underlayment, and our doors are now all over an inch over the floor. He completely ruined all of our trim and we had to get that redone. His work came with a "warranty" which is almost a joke because he literally does not answer his phone. He doesn't care about you, your home, or doing a good job - he only cares about your money. If this allowed me to do less than one star I would. If you use Chris for any sort of work whether it is flooring or general contracting, you will be making the biggest mistake of your life. He promised my pregnant wife and I a full remodel of our new house including floors. He will sound polished and act the part when you first meet him, but this is all part of the con. From day one he did not cover our furniture and ruined our couch and our bed with drywall dust and staining. We found beer cans on the job site which would explain the huge gaps in the flooring, the crooked trim and the TERRIBLE framing work. After installing the floor, his crew did not cover it and ruined it with their demo work. They would eat lunch and leave chicken bones and other trash all over the house for weeks on end causing pest infestations. He will ALWAYS ask for large sums of money up front because he never has any. When people stopped showing up to the job, I was able to track down some of his subs by calling the phone number on their truck and they said they would not return to the job as they had not been paid in weeks and that Chris rarely pays them. A classic robbing Peter to pay Paul scenario. After months of lies to us, we were forced to rent a new house. We had to fire him and rip out almost everything he has done. Even the guy we found to come look at fixing his flooring job said it was the 3rd job in 45 days he had to fix from Hill Country's negligence with other home owners. 2023 update. We changed our review to 1 star as the tile that Pablo installed has grout that has crumbled completely. In fact the tile itself is detaching from the floor. When we reached out to Chris as we expected the work to be covered under warranty he stated that "unless we change the prior review he will not send anyone over". Chris and company are only concerned about the review a customer will leave not the quality of work they are paid for. We spent over $5,000 to get this floor installed and now we will need to find an expert to repair this work. We hired HCF based on reviews. We hope this review will prevent future folks from considering Hill Country flooring. They will provide the lowest quote but this comes with a high cost. read more

I had Chris do extensive flooring work in our home 1.5 years ago. Chris himself comes across charming, service oriented, knowledgeable and clean cut. Don't let that fool you like it did my wife and I. It was a disaster from the beginning. The demo was a mess and they were just throwing everything in our front yard without having anything to contain it so we had neighbors complaining of trash and debris blowing all over. We were staying at our parents while the work was done so we're not there daily and yet we'd get photos from very unhappy neighbors of what it looked like. When we did go by we'd find beer cans all over the yard and house. Cigarette butts all over the back area and front patio. I mean zero respect given to our home. I would send the photos and issues to Chris who always had a story or excuse at first. The prep was not done correctly and on a visit we saw dust, wood particles and debris on the fresh glue where they were going to put boards on top of it and the grout for the tile also was not water proofed properly behind the tile. The quality or the people he had was atrocious. I seriously think he found the cheapest guys from Craigslist or posted somewhere for the cheapest day labor team, it was that bad. Wearing no shirts and didn't have any professionalism at all. I felt like every time I visited I would find new alarming issues that I had to send Chris pics of. Finally at some point and tons of issues he acknowledged the crew he used was bad.Clearly they all looked drunk and high. Their work did too. He didn't follow any of the manufacturer reccs on the install. My impression is he sells jobs then finds the absolute cheapest installer regardless of skill or quality and just throws them at it with no instruction, standards or supervision. He nor anyone from his company were ever at the job site except when I demanded he meet us there to see in person how bad it was going. We were so let down and disappointed in the $50,000 of floors we spent. So many install issues all over. It also took dramatically longer then he estimated so we had to move everything around and stay with our parents 4x as long as he had said it would be. With small kids and pets that's a serious inconvenience. I'm sure our parents weren't thrilled either. When things go bad he will avoid you. The charming service oriented guy you meet at the sales pitch is replaced by getting sent directly to his VM. He just ghosts you and avoids you. I for sure thought he'd be out of business as awful as our experience was with him and yet I saw on FB in several groups construction blacklist and construction underground this week posted several times that he recently stiffed a plumber for a very large sum of money with bouncing checks to him. I have seen and heard these same things from other vendors of not paying them and writing bad checks but this was the first time I actually knew the vendor. I felt horrible for this hard working guy. Chris is still victimizing people and I regretted I didn't write about my terrible experience with him in 2023 to warn more people. I guess I just assumed enough others would but I think that's probably what too many of us do with him. I think a ton of us just were so traumatized we wanted to forget it and move on. I know I did but seeing that post that he is still doing business this way made me realize it was time I needed to share my story too in hopes to save other homeowners from a let down and nightmare and other contractors from getting screwed over and stiffed. There are a lot of quality companies for flooring and remodels in Austin. This is definitely not one of them I would say in my personal experience they have been the worst contractor I have ever dealt with. read more

He has such amazing customer service I stopped looking for bids. He is clear, direct and accommodating to his customer. On top of that we got a great price and it looks beautiful. I truly hope you don't make the same mistake that we did. Chris Campbell is not reliable, unresponsive, and pushes blame onto everyone but himself. He is a salesman and nothing more. Poor craftsmanship with little to no oversight until you fire him is the short and sweet. I should've reviewed the other one star reviews prior to hiring him and I truly hope you do before you're out thousands of dollars fixing the problems left in the wake of his poor leadership. Update following Chris' reply: To those that read this, I encourage you to read the other 1 star reviews and decide for yourself if there's a pattern here or not. In Chris' reply he stated I changed the layout of the master shower, which ultimately delayed the project. I just wanted to provide future potential clients with evidence that his statement is not true and let you judge for yourself. See text thread below where he confirmed that I had completed the work the same day as deciding to make the change so that his crew would not be delayed. Our punch list goes on and on and I told Chris that I don't trust that he will actually get the work done in a timely or quality manner. We simply do not trust him. People build trust by first doing the job right the first time, following through on statements of "we will ensure to fix it" when there is a problem and actually communicating (we had no idea there was ever a project manager, and even told our issues to his business partner when he wouldn't communicate to us). There was a big lack of trust so we fired him and will have to hire someone else to fix the problems left behind, which is well over a day's worth of work. Example: ripping out a shower floor that is crooked is probably more work than a day. To add insult to injury, more happened that I wanted to update with. I had a small flood coming out of my wall into my garage and out into the driveway. I had a local plumber come out who found the culprit to be a nail from the floorboard HCF installed nailed right into my copper piping. The nail had been installed about a month before it eroded enough for water to trickle out. $650 later, my pipe was repaired, and 30 inches of my living room closet wall and floorboard cut open and destroyed. On top of that, I discovered the bathroom cabinet they installed was leaking. HCF graciously agreed to repair my wall, repair the floorboard, and repair the leak in the cabinet. I will give them kudos for that. However, when the subject of the $650 I had to pay to fix their installer's mistake was brought up, the responsibility was suddenly shirked, and I was told to accept a "happy accident." Not cool. A couple weeks later, I opened the leaking cabinet HCF's plumber had "fixed" to find it was still leaking. I contacted HCF who told me they would call me back "the next day." That was two weeks ago, I haven't heard a peep. I took it upon myself to call the same local plumber to come out. He took one look, and told me HCF's plumber had no common sense using the wrong hardware for the AC condenser drain hose in the bathroom. That visit also cost me out of pocket, but I didn't bother contacting HCF because I knew they wouldn't bother covering the cost. I'm still stressed over the whole thing. Word of mouth matters, and with as many people as I know fixing up houses right now, I've let both them and my realtor know not to send anyone else to HCF - I would hate for others to go through the same experience I did. read more

Job confirmed a few minutes later. Next morning: 8:00am call from scheduling team confirming what time the installer would show up. 1:15pm call from scheduling team confirming installer was en route 1:30pm installer showed up on time and did an amazing job. I had to hire 11 services the same week for various repair items (fridge, lawn, electrician, etc). Hill Country's response and follow through was by far the best of all of them. We hired Hull Country Flooring in April to begin installing hard wood floors on May 18th which we were told would take two weeks. It has now been 8 weeks and my floors are still not finished. It has been very difficult to get a hold of Chris and when I do he promises to get back to me in a few hours, then I never hear from him. Every few weeks we get "your floors will be done this week" but no one comes and we never hear back. We're trying to get our house on the market and we're over a month behind due to the floors. I now have to find another company to complete the job as quickly as possible. On top of that the entire house, including our newly painted walls is covered in the dust from sanding and the garage is a complete mess with the old carpet still tgI would definitely not recommend Hill Country Flooring. I HAD to put one star to post the review! I'm sorry, Chris but you seem to have forgotten the floors should have been done well before the painters got there. They were scheduled based on your completion date. It cost us a fortune to get these floors finished which included resending and replacing some if the boards. No one ever communicated to us that there was an issue with being able to finish! Your excuses just make you look worse in my opinion. We're still waiting in the refund. read more

I wish I could give Eddie and his crew WAY more than 5 stars. They are the best and I wish I could hire them for everything! Eddie is so responsive, has worked with our crazy schedule, has an efficient payment plan and makes sure we are happy from start to finish. The crews are concise, clean up after themselves and get the job done! The work is impeccable and always better than we expect. Eddie also helped us when we were indecisive about choosing which floors to go with. Never pushy but tells us which products are superior. We cannot wait to use them again for our wood floors downstairs! My husband and i are really picky when it comes to home remodeling as we have been burned by contractors in the past. We had all of the flooring replaced. We now have a combination of carpet and vinyl flooring. The products are great, The carpet feels glorious! However, the actual process of getting it done was awful and took approximately 3-4 weeks to complete. I won't list it all out since they did try to fix the situation. I'm giving 2 stars because the products are phenomenal and the other 2 stars are for Amanda at Hill Country Flooring. She was communicating regularly, responded promptly to any inquiries I had, and was proactive about issues that came up. She saved this whole experience for me and is the only person from the team that impressed me. I hope they know her worth because without her, this would be a 2 star review. read more

Finally got time to explain our saga with Chris - if I could make 1 wish - I wish I had never met or dealt with this company or Chris. Possibly the WORST experience ever! If you're considering getting anything done by this guy DON'T do it. I implore you! Once he locks you in he will not answer your call/text or keep saying he will call back but never does. Let me start my story - Project - we had carpet and ceramic tile in certain areas of our 2018 built home. We wanted to replace the entire first floor with LVP. So involved tile demo, carpet pull up and put in LVP. 1. Chris came to our home promptly after contacting him via Yelp based on all the reviews he had. He seemed friendly and provided us with a decent quote. 2. The problems started right of the bat which I should have realized and backed out. We asked for samples and they took almost a month to get it to us. Kept saying some story about needing to come from California/Houston etc. 3. Finally decided on couple of options and spoke to Chris on what he will do. He promised he will have Austin Dustless which is probably the best tile demo company in Austin. He also said he will get his BEST guys for the job. We paid him half and he said appointment with Austin Dustless is setup. 4. Plan laid out by Chris was get the tile demo done in 1 day. Carpet removal and prep was another day. Laying down LVP would take 2-3 days. We were going to be in the house upstairs and had made specific request to keep it as clean as possible. 5. Called him day the job is supposed to start and he starts telling stories Austin Dustless double booked and they won't do our job. LIE. He then put us in a situation to work with some other dustless company he got us which took 2 days for the demo. Austin dustless would have done it in 1 day. 6. Next up was ripping out the carpet and putting in LVP. Some random dudes showed up and started ripping out carpet everywhere. It was hard to communicate since they spoke Spanish and I didn't. Entire house was a mess. There was more dust created by these guys than during tile removal. No manager or Chris came over to explain what will be done or what to expect. On the same day with all the mess around they started putting in LVP without leveling the floor. Called Chris telling him this is going on and come take a look. But nah dude. No floor prep was done as per initial plan. 7. Next day after I created a huge issue, Alan the manager came by for an hour. Workers continued their messed up job, leveling of floor which is the most important thing for LVP was not done correctly. If there is no one to watch over you what do you expect them to do? 8. Since the manager was not doing his job, I went around the house checking for issues. Well this is wrong according to Chris. He blamed me for checking shoddy work and pointing it out. Dude I paid for this job. If you had done your job correctly I wouldn't be doing it would I? 9. Saga continued, they fixed few of the areas I pointed out and kept crying that I'm pointing out issues. Chris came by ONCE and stayed 5 mins tops. 5 mins that is all I got from this guy. Busy dude! 10. 2-3 day job took almost a week. They even contracted out some of the fixes to another LVP laying company because they can't show their face. I got them to fix the high traffic areas.There were still issues which they didn't fix and I gave up. 11. Invited Chris over to show him the great work his BEST guys did. He did not have the face to come over. Very busy man. Well he is not busy to get new customers and scam them. 12. When it was time to make the final payment - Chris very promptly called me multiple times asking me to pay. Wow what a dude. There were some items still left but he promised he will get them done and begged me to pay. Well sucker that I'm I paid giving this guy 1 last chance. 13. Next comes the final nail in the coffin - I was promised extra LVP incase I have issues down the line. Well this never happened. Every time I call or message no reply. He never picked up or got back to voicemails after waiting for long time. Great customer service. 14. Used my wife's phone, didn't answer but left a voicemail saying I'm a new customer and want to talk about a project. GUESS WHAT? Chris calls the new number within a minute of leaving the voicemail all warm and cuddly. GOTCHA LIAR! I still haven't got all the extra things promised. The floor still creeks and makes awful noise when we walk on it. There are areas of the house which go in when we step on it. I have been to homes with LVP flooring and know this is not correct. Ours was new 2018 built house so can't blame the foundation shifting or other crap. All of these issues are solely because the workers never prepped the floor and leveled it. They ruined my flooring with their shoddy work and we're stuck with it. I have given up, few years down the line we will have to rip this shoddy piece of work and get a COMPETENT company to do the job. read more

We had our bathroom floor and shower tile done by Hill Country Flooring and were very disappointed. Although the tile looks nice, they ruined our bathtub and did nothing about it. There are lots of scrapes and chips out of the tub. The communication between the owner (Chris) and the team that tiled our house was not good. Chris told us they were going to cover our wood floors so tile pieces didn't ruin them while people walked to and from the bathroom. We had to nag five times to actually get it done and ended up having to scrub our floors two times. On the first day of the project, Chris said he would be by our house every day to check on things. He only came out two times over the 7 business days. Communication was very inconsistent. Sometimes we heard back on things right away and some things we never heard back on. We reached out multiple times about the bathtub damage and did not hear back. They had us over-order on tile by 50% of what we needed for the floors and 25% for the shower so if you use them make sure you buy tile from somewhere you can return them.
