Grandma is now retired but she opened the store over 20 years ago. Everything they have in this small shop is thoughtful and great for kids. We ended up buying a kite for a kid's birthday. They have small kites and very large complex kites ranging from $15 to $50. They have a nice assortment of books with diverse protagonists. I almost picked up the Spanish version of Junot Diaz's Lola but I resisted. My two year old would probably need to get a little older before being able to appreciate that book. They also have board books and even an embroidered first Bible. Their puppets in the store are fun. Grandma is proud that she got the puppet maker to include legs so they could be used as puppets or dolls. We left with our kite wrapped and a hand made 3D birthday card. What a wonderful store. The basics of the story is that Eloise is a young girl who lives in the "room on the tippy-top floor" of the Plaza Hotel in New York City with her nanny, her pug dog, Weenie, and her turtle, Skipperdee. They have a small Etsy shop but the factory has a massive selection that was shown with the utmost pride and enthusiasm by the staff who clearly take pride in the work they do. They offered to take any flower I selected and put it on a stick pin, hair clip, and other backing. I ended up with 3 and had them add stick pins to wear on my lapel. All 3 stunning. They also do custom flowers made from your own materials. Talk about meaningful sentimental gifts. I will surly be back!

I came here in September with a very specific floral design detail in mind for a designer dress I was wearing to an award ceremony. I had no idea what to expect, other than what I'd read from previous reviews on Yelp. When I arrived, I was directed to the back area where all the silk flowers are housed, organized by color and material in aisles of neatly stacked boxes. As I began to search and take it all in (with SO many flower options, it can be overwhelming), a woman immediately asked if I had any questions or needed help. She began pulling out boxes of flowers that I was interested in and told me to just leave them out--she'd put them away, no problem. As I came closer to finalizing my little floral design, I asked a few of the ladies if I could get their opinion. This is when it got fun! They were SO personable and helpful, and TOTAL EXPERTS on their floral-design craft! One of the women began to arrange my picked-out flowers into a beautiful design that was exactly what I wanted. Rather than try to recreate the design by myself, they told me they could bind it all together to ensure the wires of the flowers don't show and so I could just pin/sew the flowers right onto my dress. And so they did it in about 45 minutes! The cost for it all was about $125, which is a bit more than I had anticipated spending, but honestly, it was all worth it! They wrapped the thing up for me in a box to ensure it wouldn't get smushed and wished me a wonderful time at the event.
