Jacobs continues to care for all four of our children. I can honestly say that they treat our kids like their own. Both doctors are like walking encyclopedias; with knowledge not only in their pediatric specialty, but also in various other specialties. Their expertise help new and veteran parents make informed decisions about their children's care. Dr. Elizabeth is also a Lactation Consultant, so for brand new mother's, this is such a blessing in one easy location! They are very responsive to any questions that I may have AND with any documentation needed (especially for school-aged kids). They are thorough during the examinations/visits and genuinely listen and care about parental concerns. The patient portal is also helpful and easy to use. In a nutshell, if you are a new parent, new to the area, or in the market for a fresh set of eyes, I would highly recommend Drs. Stanley and Elizabeth Jacobs at Helping Kids Pediatrics. We scheduled a visit prior to our son being born. The 2 of them spent over and hour with us answering dozens of questions and never once pushed for our commitment. After the meeting my wife and I were very confident in their abilities as physicians. They are parents themselves and this was evident right away. One of her ears was infected and there was no way that I could take it out. The staff were super kind and let me know the suggested time so that the provider could see her asap. When I went in, the office was definitely clean and child friendly. TV shows with animals to make her calm and laugh and décor of the jungle. They have baby hospital beds in the rooms (I cant so cute). The nurse came in and said she sees this all of the time (what!). There was no way to numb the ears because it would hurt more so the doctor made us comfortable and nurse supported him and with the right tools, got those earrings out! I think her dad and i were more impacted lol. He cleaned her up, gave us antibiotic ointment, suggested earrings and the nurse gave her stickers. In conversations before the bris, I knew that my friend was nervous about the process, the ceremony, and the actual circumcision. I can say with confidence that Dr. Rumbak put the family's mind at ease both with her expertise and her gentle approach. As a "spectator" at the ceremony, Dr. Rumbak passed around sheets so we can all follow along and feel part of the ceremony, and explained what different blessings meant. She also added some Jewish text in a modern and relevant way, which I appreciated, and my family continued to discuss post ceremony. The sweet baby did super well and was calm throughout the entire process. Truthfully, I didn't even know when the actual circumcision actually happened because she was so gentle and discrete. At the end of the ceremony, many people went up to Dr. Rumbak to compliment her on one of the best brit mila's they ever went to, and many asked for her card (including my mom for our temple!). She has a great business partner in Shachar, who socialized with the guests of the ceremony, kept everything organized, and was just an all around stand up guy. Oh, and how great that she is a mohel AND a doctor. Talk about putting your mind at ease..that will definitely do it. Highly recommend.

Would have loved so much to give a glowing review of Dr. Rumbak but unfortunately we look back on…read morethe day of my son's bris and what transpired after with a lot of sadness. Dr. Rumbak deserves credit and thanks for her discretion in not circumcising our son the day of his bris due to a urological condition she noticed in her ore-ceremony examination. We are thankful for that. She performed what essentially worked out to a baby naming ceremony for us. Obviously the day was emotional to begin with and the news she couldn't circumcise was extremely disappointing and heartbreaking since this was a day we looked forward to for so long. In the days after the bris we were able to absorb the events better and realized exactly what happened. To begin with, my wife asked for a program to keep as they were being collected (yes, collected), and the response was, "I collect them." She said the same to my mom (baby's grandma). We consider this ridiculous - even if the baby's grandparents couldn't have one, at least the parents should. When I emailed Dr. Rumbak about the issue I'm about to describe, I also mentioned the program and that part of my email was left unaddressed. Here's the major problem, though. We paid $800 for a circumcision plus $150 for travel from Manhattan to Nassau. We were happy to do this because we really liked Dr. Rumbak on the phone. However, after the bris, we had a bit of a realization that really irked us. Why were we never offered any kind of refund for the circumcision not being performed? It really should have been offered that day, on the spot, but it wasn't. Days and weeks turned to months and we still were never offered anything. We didn't even get an email or phone call to check on our son given the medical issue Dr. Rumbak identified. This was surprising given the emotional nature of the day but also because part of Dr. Rumbak's service (advertised on her web site and vouched for in her reviews) is her frequent follow up with the family. Finally after a few months, I emailed her explaining we feel we are owed some kind of refund due to the most critical part of the ceremony, the circumcision, not being performed. It is that expertise for which we paid. Dr. Rumbak issued a $200 refund, saying that the rate for a baby naming is $600. It's unfortunate such a beautiful day was soured by the experience we had. As new parents we feel we were, in a way, taken advantage of. Dr. Rumbak did ultimately give some money back, but we feel we shouldn't have had to ask. Experiences like this are what make people cynical about organized religion. The right thing to do would have been to give us a refund without us having to ask. We would not recommend her.

As a result, they have an obligation to try to keep their customers happy. We needed a companion for our beloved family member and while we were a little shocked by the cost, $600 a night, we hoped that the companions who we hired would be empathetic and hopefully we'll compensated for their time. Overall we were very satisfied with the companions as well as the customer service. One thing you should know. If you arrange for a companion and your patient ends up getting discharged from the hospital, you still have to pay the full price for night. No refunds. So I'd advise waiting until the afternoon before reserving a companion or nurse, since once you order the service you are committed to pay the full price.
