I had no idea what to expect when I when I was sent to Encompass Health for rehabilitation after my neurosurgery. How fortunate I was to be treated at Encompass Health facility in Libertyville, IL. Everyone is treated respectfully and they truly care about your well being and want you to get well. The therapists encourage you and work with whatever your limitations may be to enable you to get well enough to succeed and meet your goals. Therapy is conducted in the gym. Everyone is rooting for everyone else including patients. The entire staff whether it be medical, therapeutic, food service, cleaning staff, and office staff always greet you with a smile and encouragement. I want the CEO, Gemma Fletcher to know (and I am sure she does) that the entire staff are rock stars, and their concern for the patients is genuine and sincere. I did not realize how much of an emotional high the ringing of the bell gave me when I finished therapy and was getting ready to be discharged. As much as I would love to call out by name all those that helped me during my stay, I regret that I may inadvertently omit some names. Please know how much your concern was important and instrumental in my recovery. Thank you all for everything you have done for me. You can not find a better facility in the northern suburbs…read more I have to apologize for taking so long to write this review. I was a patient on 6/24/24 after having hip replacement surgery. The facility was run so efficiently that I NEVER had to wait for someone to respond to my call. The food was fresh and good. I never had to wait for medication, which was always on time, the correct pill, and dosage. Did I mention how beautiful the facility was? Not only beautiful but very clean. The staff was incredible, they always had a smile on their faces, which told me they were happy to work there. Physical therapy helped me to recover as quickly as I did. Everyone was very patient and took time to explain what I needed to do. The therapist stayed with me to make sure I was doing it correctly. After seeing the horrible facility in Streamwood, my sister-in-law is currently at, I realized just how lucky I was to have been at the best facility in the northern suburbs. While I'm not an expert in this field, I do work in a very similar profession and deeply understand how much compassion, commitment, and emotional strength it takes to provide care for others. Nicole embodies all of those qualities. If the facility had more staff like her, or even just more staff support overall, each resident would receive the level of care they truly deserve. Due to the staffing ratio of approximately one CNA for every sixteen residents (based on timeframe of observation). In memory care, where residents often rely heavily on guided assistance, this level of staffing makes it difficult to ensure everyone's nutritional and emotional needs are met. It's evident that there have been positive strides at Thrive, and with continued improvements, particularly in staffing, the facility could deliver an even higher standard of care. The decor is a bit minimal and basic, although I was impressed with the therapy gyms, and the courtyard was nice. Rooms are spare and small, although bathrooms are wide and have roll-in showers. The message here is is take care of your health, people. If you are lucky enough to have healthcare, use it and don't neglect your checkups. Save for retirement and beyond. Rant over.

Oak Hill is a very lovely place, My mom has been calling it home for at least a couple years…read more I am a regular visitor, mostly everyone knows me and I love to stop and to chat with the residents and staff. There is a lot they offer to everyone, there's daily programs, bus trips on Tuesday and Thursday, special entertainment, students who come weekly to interact with everyone. Participation is encouraged, but not required, everyone is different, after all. I encourage my mom to participate and they usually have someone come and escort her to activities. Mom has had her medicine well managed, and I felt that wellness staff has been attentive to my mom's needs for care as they come up: from monitoring her heart to helping her brush her teeth and cleaning her room. I've worked with the Financial side of things, discussing what's next when mom transitioned from private pay to Medicaid and adding their dental coverage, and new medical plan. I love that everyone can have their pets, my mom has her kitty salsa, everyone is welcome and everyone is celebrated for what they can do. I've been impressed with their transitioning throughout the Covid pandemic, keeping the residents safe and Covid free. This has been so very difficult! Maybe things aren't always perfect, we are but human. I see that the team at Oakhill from the Kitchen, Leas, Wellness Center, Housekeeping, front desk and everyone in management, work hard and care for everyone. I feel like they make a special effort to give the residents a good experience every day. I'm there so frequently, people are always telling me stories about my mom. There has been some management changes due to retirement, and I think once everyone's adjusted it will be wonderful to see the new ideas from everyone. Oak Hill has a bright spirit about it, I definitely recommend it. check out their facebook page to see the many events that they have. Their focus is the residents. The residents also have a resident's council that gives ideas and opinions of what they'd like to provide input into. I am glad my mom lives here. I highly recommend checking them out!

The nursing staff denied receiving emails that it was proven they had received, resulting in delays in care. They regularly had issues with managing medicines, and when we attempted to engage them, it took several days to respond to inquiries. The finance team refused to acknowledge their error, and then treated us rudely like we were at fault, and showed absolutely no compassion during any interactions. The general manager was rarely in the building, and failed to engage with us when we had issues with the management team. From a facility perspective, the 1st floor hallway always smelled like urine, and there were several weeks where temperatures in the resident rooms were under 60 degrees and they refused to turn on the heat or provide space heaters, blaming it on the costs. If there was any bright spot during her 6-month stay, it was the housekeeping, receptionist, and dining room teams - at least they were friendly.

They were friendly. My grandma looked like she had been bathed and hair brushed. When I would talk to my grandma with questions about things they would come over on their own an answer my question. I didn't even have to ask. They adhered to her diet restrictions. I only had one complaint and they addressed it before I was even able to complain and it didn't happen again. They had private showers in their room. The bathroom was kept clean. She had her own room. All the other patients were lovely. ( Except for a grumpy guy but that's not their fault )If we are in this situation again I would definitely choose to send her here vs Waconda care. Hope this helps.

New Perspectives, Long Grove has provided great care for my mother. My mother has been a resident…read morein the memory care wing at New Perspectives, Long Grove for over 2 years. She entered just after Covid, new ownership transition along with a transitional Executive Director. There were some noticeable rough spots when she first entered, however the core staff was present which did not diminish high quality care that my mom received. Shout outs to the excellent care takers, activity directors and Katherine, the Health & Wellness director, for exercising great skill and compassion during this transitional period. There has been a noticeable improvement with current Executive Director Kirsten (in place since July of 2024). Kirsten is fantastic and maintains strong leadership in providing a high quality of life for the residents. Don't be distracted with the "Shiny Brand New" facilities that are popping up. It's the staff and the care that they provide that really matter - New Perspectives, Long Grove continues to provide excellent care for its residents.
