Guests need to check in and have their picture taken. First floor reminds me of a nice hotel. The flower arrangements are real! They offer a theater, activity rooms (pool, ping pong , puzzles etc ). There is also a nice fitness center with a pool and a hot tub. I haven't seen the dining room or library but I am told they have an excellent burger and the library has a variety of different reads. There are different floors depending on the residents' needs. There is assisted living floor , a mental illness floor and retirement community floor. The units are large and customized. The view of the Elizabeth river from the "old" building is gorgeous. I do know they have medical and physical therapy on site too which is very convenient. I've only heard good things about the quality of care. So far I am very pleased with where my family is going to be living out the rest of their many years. I will be visiting often. Lastly, it is very convenient that Dumar's and Orapax are so close. Highly recommend dining there!

They have their…read moremailboxes indoors, a nice library, community kitchen with an ice cream vending area, a dining area, living room area, a sunroom that opens to a beautiful outdoor patio with raised garden beds, an actual movie theater, and their own PT room with staff! The rooms look great and the halls are decorated with beautiful artwork, they have an arts and crafts/game room for bingo and other events! They even have transportation for outings and for medical visits on certain days. They have out of state reciprocity for staying at sister properties as in California, Colorado, Florida, etc.. So many perks and benefits beside the on-site premises make this a great choice for community! The residents seem to be happy and engaged and the quality of the place seems very cozy and welcoming. I had been looking for a senior living apartment for a family member to move to. This place was in…read morea good location, so I reached out to them. I was in contact with Mandi off & on. Her response time was slow at times, so I ended up communicating via Facebook messenger with questions I had that were unanswered. Eventually, we went to see the place in person. It seemed clean & organized. When you walk in, no one greets you. You just sign in, take your own temperature, and log it. After doing so, Mandi came out & walked us to the center of the building where the couches were to ask us what we were looking for. That was already discussed, but I went ahead and answered that again. She mysteriously had 2 apartments picked out to show us (I thought she didn't remember what we were looking for, but ok)...a studio and a 1 bedroom. The studio was tiny & dark, so that wasn't an option. At that point, she and the live in manager, Phil, starting whispering about which apartment to show us next. She ended up showing us a weirdly shaped 1 bedroom with the TINIEST "bedroom" that was more of a small nursery. At best, you could get a twin sized bed in there. My family member was adamant about being able to being her queen sized bed with her, so this tiny 1 bedroom wasn't an option. The cost was $2850 & she told me she would email me that day with the BEST PRICE she could offer. She didn't do that & I had to reach out to her first. Once I did that, she said that was the best price. ???? I asked if they could give any other special regarding the activity fee or anything. At first she couldn't, and then she said she could waive the security deposit (1/2 of rent). At this point, I was getting tired of going around and around with her. I told her that I was going to look at another apartment with a much better bedroom in the area & told her the special they were offering. She asked me not to make any decisions until she spoke to her manager. So, I gave her time. After waiting hours & going to the other apartment, she texts me to say that they can't go "that low". First of all, the other apartment was more expensive than that little box of an apartment that she showed me. Their special was just better. Instead of having to come out of my pocket $4000+ upfront, I only had to pay $198. Who in their right mind would pay $4000+ for a box when you could pay less upfront for a true 1 bedroom?? Not me. So, they loss a sale being greedy & my family member is moving into her new place this weekend. Yayyyy! ***The good thing about them though is that they include everything except phone. Their isn't a washer/dryer in the apartment or a stove. 3 meals a day is included. So, I'm giving them a 4 star review because I would've sent me family member there had the bedroom been big enough to fit her bed. That was the problem for us.

The floor staff has been courteous to my mom. However, management avoids my calls. I have to call…read moreseveral times to ask about online payment. When I gave notice to vacate and told them the rent is paid, no response until I had to email about twice. Attached photo is debt collection notice after moving out 4 months. They'll communicate when they want money. The place has nickel and dime my mom. $35 for shampoo. $80 a month for laundry. What drove me to vacate was the sales lady didn't tell me that they don't have Medicaid long term care bed for mom when I asked. She said they'll discuss it later, which is when I told them my mom will be low on funds and can't stay there because I was led to believe in the spend down for Medicaid Long term care. Also, they wanted to use my mom's photo for their marketing. This place cares for you if you can afford it.

If your loved one falls or has reoccurring UTI's do not send them here. The staff in blue are very…read morecaring but are understaffed and there is a high turnover. Some of the directors don't follow through and seem to just be there for a paycheck, not for the care of your loved one.
