The resort is right on the beach. A really beautiful place. The owners are really great people and friendly. The cabins are very pleasant and peaceful. They have some great water activities to rent. A fire pit for sitting by and having s'mores or just relaxing by. Not too far from the resort you can go see some deer. They love carrots. read more

Beware owner will not honor confirmed reservations that were made via phone with him. After making the reservation I had 2 confirmation emails, one five days before arrival. We arrived at the check in time listed on the email the owner tried to put us in a cabin that was actively under construction and had holes in walls, you could see outside, and was not the cabin we reserved (pic 1 is what we reserved and pic 2 is what we were offered) . The owner told us to come back in an hour and the cabin under construction would be buttoned up and ready. Came back 1 hour and 15 minutes later and it was the same no bed and bare walls (see pics). Then when we tried to discuss this with the owner he stated, "I'm on a conference call what do you want?" I asked him to get off the call, which he never did and talk to us, and he refused so we asked for a refund which he eventually did after we refused to leave until I had confirmed the refund with my credit card. The final straw was when I asked his partner if she would spend her vacation their and she flat out said no. The owners refusing to honor their own reservations messed our entire vacation, we had to find a hotel with Wi-Fi and find a new location for the week and try and replan our activities since most of them were built around staying at this resort. When we questioned why someone else was in our cabin the owner kept stating he had cancellations and had to move people around. This made zero sense because if there were cancellations, he could have put us in one of the cancelled cabins. He refused to give us any other explanations. They did offer to not charge us for the rest of the week if we took the cabin which would have still cost us close to 300 (the deposit) to stay in a cabin with holes in the walls (bugs could get in) and none of the outside amenities we paid for as part of the rental such as a grill or picnic table, when I mentioned this part I was told you can use one from another cabin if the people are not using it. Just beware of this business and know if you book through them, you may arrive and not have a place to stay in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, they will not honor reservations that they make. read more

We rented "Misty Harbor" more like the "Moldy Holer" The most disappointing boat rental of our lives!! The pictures on the website are not current. We actually rented a different boat, but upon arriving we were told it was not available and that the "Moldy Holer" was the only one available for us to rent. Honestly, I don't even know why we rented it, except the kids really wanted to go on a boat ride. The radio doesn't work. The horn doesn't work. There is mold/mildew on everything! Holes in all the seats! Trim falling off, but don't worry, you just throw it up over the side and "don't touch it" according to the customer service representative. I wonder if they have COVID-19 cleaning protocols? Just kidding, they obviously DO NOT! They never answer the phone, they were so rude when we picked up the boat. No one was even around when we returned the boat! I wondered if we were being PUNKED...unfortunately we were not! I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you really dislike them. This resort is FANTASTIC! It is a true taste of U. P. living. The owners take a personal interest in making sure your stay is great. peaceful, relaxing and fun for kids and adults. It is my favorite place "up north." I could not recommend this place enough. read more

This review is difficult for me to write because I am not an experienced cabin dweller on vacations. "Rustic" is a new word for me. PROS: GORGEOUS waterfront views of a channel in Lake Huron. Wonderful water sounds to surround me. Very close to a decent grocery store. Various kayaks and paddleboards, most of which are free to cabin renters. Boats and canoes can be rented for a wonderful time out on the water. LOTS of space to walk around, with or without your dogs. This resort IS dog-friendly. They have free laundry machines and a fish cleaning station. CONS: The majority of the cabins are small. The bedrooms only have either a double bed or 2 twin beds and a small dresser. The shower doesn't look clean and the water quickly goes from cold to very hot. The windows don't look well kept up, some of the door screens aren't attached to the door frame. The faucets and sink in the kitchen leave a lot to be desired. When we arrived on a Saturday evening, the cabin wasn't aired out (very musty smelling) and it wasn't even minimally cleaned. As I mentioned earlier, I am not experienced with cabin dwelling, so I can't even call our cabin rustic. I call it a "tent" with solid walls. There is a LOT that the current owners could do to make this a MUCH better structure to sleep in, but I don't know what it looked like before they got there. On a non-cabin note, I will say that the weather when we were there was GORGEOUS, mid-70's. And I thoroughly enjoyed the ride on the pontoon boat with my family. read more

Blasts customers online. BIG price hike and there will be extra fees at the end of your stay, will be asked to replace anything even if it's old as heck and falling apart. Anything new is probably paid for by a customer. Newer Owner is anal with guests even after family has gone there many years. Cabins were always all booked over the summer and many are available most likely due to owner. Expect email after your stay with a list of issues they have. Expectations to have the cabin cleaner when you leave then when you show up. Cabins are not clean when you arrive. Overpriced, not enjoyable. read more

We rented a boat for the day from the owner Chris. He has outstanding care and customer service and goes the extra mile to make sure our day on the water was as perfect as it could be. He is making a ton of improvements around the resort after buying it a few years ago. It's still very rustic but CUTE rustic! read more

Great lakeside getaway if you don't mind a little dirt. Full use of kayaks and paddle boards. Wood is provided and they have a laundry room available. Will definitely be back with friends. read more

We just returned from a wonderful week staying in the owners cabin! I can't say enough about how nice the staff was (Michelle and Chris) in working to make our stay enjoyable. There were rentable motorboats, free canoes, paddle boards and sunfish sailboats. The beach was nice and clean and had a big fire pit. We caught some pike after some good tips from Chris on where to go fishing. It's clear they are putting some money into the place with new outside bath/shower rooms and a bunkhouse. There was free onsite laundry (a real plus!), firewood provided and even charcoal for the grill. Lots of kids to play with. Overall, a very family friendly place and a bit of a time capsule from the past reminding me of cabins of my youth. Dan in Milwaukee. read more
