Very busy on this Saturday and more rooms to this than meets the eye. Food was great ! Chicken and Kim chi potstickers, cheese curds, and mushrooms. Yummmm went very well with the beer. Had a tasty flight with a Belgian ale, strawberry ale that were my favorite! Parking is tricky. They have a few spots here and there. Part of road under construction so give it a minute and you will find something. Friendly wait staff, very informative and told us about the cigar train tour that they host a lunch for. We stopped on a special day when they opened for our train tour. I appreciate them going the extra mile to serve this group in their day off. The team here asked us to order at the bar before being seated. I don't know if that is their normal process. If it is...it might work well for the restaurants logistics but it creates a less than desirable dinning feel for me. The order takers were very friendly and helpful. They hustled to process the train passengers. The seating area is a large open room. It feels like an old factory turned beer garden. The floors are a nice hardwood. Not much decor or atmosphere in this large room. They did have a singer as entertainment which wasn't the best. For food I started with the potstickers. These weren't your traditional Chinese potsticker. They were over fried and tough. The filling was vegan instead of pork. It didn't work for me and wasn't very tasty. Kinda tough and flavorless. The sweet chili sauce really helped. I also tried the BBQ Mac Burrito. The BBQ was good but not very plentiful. It was a bit hard to find that taste. The Mac & Cheese was nice and creamy. The noodles were soft. Served alone I think they would be fine. Stuffed in a burrito....not a fan of. Please be aware that they don't give free refills on soda. We didn't have table service outside of someone dropping off food. Overall I will give them four stars for opening up special for the train tour. Otherwise I was rather unimpressed with this establishments process and food. read more

The old brick building was really cool. Finding a place to park was tricky. The food was pretty good. We met friends there and shared appetizers: asparagus fries=good, queso bites=good, mushrooms=good, I didn't try the Buffalo rangoons but the others said they were pretty good. But the beer, that's where the only 3 star comes from. I ordered the amber ale. It was flat. I told the waitress but nothing was done even when I asked her to ask the bartender what was going on. The other beers where fine and not flat like the amber. All and all, it's a cool place to go to experience. Probably won't be back though. read more

This place was wonderful! Parking is a bit tight but the bartender, Jacob, and the food/beer made it worth the hassle. Jacob chose some of their tasty brews for me after I asked him what was good and told him what sort I liked, and he was dead bang on! Every single one of them was terrific. I ordered the buffalo rangoons and a spinach salad (the hot bacon dressing is a must- so good that I got some to take home). Ordering a salad in a pub is dicey, but this was an excellent salad. The building is amazing. It was a post office/brothel turned brewery. Still has the safe and teller windows. Nice that they kept the history in tack. Their local brews are good with lots of variety. The food was mediocre. I had the adult grilled cheese- cheese, bacon and avocado. It was bland. Needed some spice. The beer cheese was greasy and had a weird texture. We came on a Sunday. Labor day weekend was the first Sunday they were open on a Sunday. It was pretty quiet when we got here. The bartender was very nice. The beer isn't bad. They have a good amount of IPAs and ales but not much else. They do do flights. There's a two vehicle parking lot and then street parking outside of that. The prices are super affordable. $8 for a flight, $5 for a pint. The place is very clean and very chill atmosphere. They accept cards. They do sell food and it sounds like it's really good. They have a tv behind the bar and they had the channel on a soccer game. read more

New brewery in Hillsdale. Decent brews that includes a nice variety of choices all brewed in house. Most food choices are deep fried bar food with a twist. Family friendly, with a separate bar and dining area. Parking is a bit tricky with only three spots on the road front. I was pleased with the place overall but the wait staff needs to improve. Stopped in for the first time on a recent, rainy, Friday afternoon. My wife and I were the only patrons to begin with, but by the time we left a dozen folks had ambled in. We sat at the bar and were welcomed by a very friendly bartender. He provided a number of samples for my wife to try. They did not feature any wheat based beers, which my wife prefers, so she got a flight of a few of the lighter beers. I had the Poorhouse Porter. My wife felt that her beers were a bit thin, drinkable, but lacking any significant body, I tasted them as well and shared her opinion. My porter was very tasty and had good body. I would certainly order it again. We talked with the bartender about the business, future plans, the town, and the history of the building. It is a very interesting space and quite comfortable, with some outside seating. The parking is a bit of a challenge, unless you happen to get one of the two spots right next to the building. We really enjoyed our food, including the buffalo rangoon appetizer. I had the B.L.A.T. on sourdough and I would order that again. My wife had mac and cheese with pulled pork and enjoyed it very much. The homemade chips on the side were pretty tasty and mostly quite crunchy. It was about an hour drive from our house in Battle Creek, so we only had the one beer and the flight, but it is a place we will visit again, especially once the Ramshackle opens in Jonesville. We stopped in during a motorcycle ride this afternoon and had lunch. We didn't try their beer because we were riding today, but the food was amazing. There were three of us eating together and all three meals and the two appetizers that we had were all really good. We had the special, called The Dilly, which was a grilled cheese with five different cheeses and deep-fried pickles on it. It also came with their homemade potato chips, which were very good....not burned, not so crisp that they tear up the top of your mouth, but cooked enough that they were slightly crisp. We also had their other special which was flatbread with pesto, turkey, cheese and fire roasted red peppers. It was a good size helping and it was very flavorful. My husband had the spinach salad which came with a warm bacon dressing, cheese, boiled egg, cherries, and a couple other toppings. The dressing was so good! For appetizers we had deep-fried mushrooms and the buffalo Rangoon, which was Rangoon with cream cheese, chicken and buffalo sauce and then we dipped it in Ranch. I think there were a couple other cheeses in there too. Very good. We don't find food this good out this way very often, and I would highly suggest it! We will absolutely, positively be back! Stopped in for a night cap in early April. Had a good selection of beers on tap, 8 to 10 if memory serves. The waitstaff was good about food and beer orders, but forgot my wifes water twice. The kettle chips were pretty good for an appetizer, had a couple clumps that came out soggy though. Also ordered a pretzel with beer cheese, cheese was better than the pretzel. Its only been open for a few months and I've already seen the IPA's improve. They did a great job renovating the interior of the building, and craft beer guys will get a kick out of the mens urinal.
