I do enjoy this place. It is located in a repurposed church, and the designer/architect/owner did a very good job at combining "the old with the new." Our server was quite efficient and pleasant. A bonus was that the manager/owner (?) came over to check on us and have a brief discussion. I had the fish and chips for lunch. I found it to be filling and tasty. My wife had a salad - no matter the weather, she enjoys a good salad and combo. I should note here that the restaurant is very accommodating to those who are GF and those who have a few other types of food allergies. As a GF, she really appreciates this. This upscale brewery is very nice, modern, chic and with a touch of God literally is really nice. Architecture in this restaurant/brewery is really nice. The service was very good and the waitress in which unfortunately don't recall her name was very sweet and kind. Also made some great suggestions as far as what to try out. She was always coming to check on us three to see if we wanted or needed anything else which I really appreciate it. However even the I asked for medium well for the beef tenderloins they were a medium rare which was very hard for me to eat. The gravy that was on top was very delicious. I did try to eat it. I am thinking maybe the waitress didn't hear me all the way that is why it was done that way. I didn't ask for her to take it back, especially since my husband likes medium rare some times. This is a beautiful use for a historic church. I love the stained glass windows. It is a popular spot for craft beer but me and my friend dislike beer. We had the Shirley temples tonight as I had to work. We tries the sauerbraten and loved it. It compares to Metzgers in Ann Arbor which is a very high compliment. We had the always delicious Brussel sprout appetizer. Our servers knocked it out of the park tonight and there was a trainee helping also. I really appreciated a water jug at the table upon seating that is so convenient. I also was impressed how they asked about allergies before ordering that was very impressive. With graduation fast approaching, I had to look for outside for dinner reservations since I was a bit late to the game. This was one of the recommendations in the college FB group. It is in a former church with all the lovely stain glass windows. There is street parking available (not sure if there is a parking lot). We all ordered different dishes and they were all very good! Good portion sizes. My sister who has seafood allergies asked about the kimchi which comes with the Korean Short Rib entree. Our server was knowledgeable about the ingredients in their kimchi (which is vegan) so she happily ate it. My daughter who is a Mac n' cheese connoisseur was impressed with their version! I've been coming here for a few years now but recently just went on Saturday and enjoyed it about as much if not more than usual! This place has practically attended college with me! I got the Shrimp Linguine (again) and it was great- perfect amount of flavor and portion size! Just check it out, drinking a beer in that place is sweet. Beer: 8/10 - I mean it's a brewery. Compared to most restaurants this beer will knock their beer on tap out of the water. As a beer lover I won't say that it's the best beer I've ever had but it's rock solid. Their Kölsch was pretty damn good. Food: 8/10 - I'm not super qualified to speak on this, I didn't eat here but I tried my fiancées beet salad and it was stellar. She got the marinated tempeh and it slapped hard. Hard to compare it to fine dining options in A2 but compared to other breweries I actually thought the food was really good and all the food I saw was high quality. Salt Springs Brewery is a Saline staple. We hadn't been in quite some time before our last visit this weekend. This time we found Salt Springs to be decidedly bland. Service was great. We were able to be seated outside in great weather, and our server was prompt and friendly. The menu really didn't appeal to us, and my husband and I reluctantly found our choices for lunch that day. My food was fine, but it's hard to mess up breakfast potatoes, over easy eggs, and Canadian bacon. Prices were kind of ridiculous for what we got. For kiddo we got Mac and cheese, but the fresh veggies on the side were sad and looked dried out, like they had been cut yesterday and left in the fridge overnight before being thrown in a plate for today. One of the toilets was broken out of the two women's restrooms, and an employee seemed unconcerned when I let them know. Maybe with a menu change we could be enticed back, but for now we will find other places in Saline to check out. read more

Superior chef marries unique combinations and locally sourced ingredients to create umami flavors, cooked perfectly. I had the chicken sandwich. I usually leave some bun, but ate every bite because the strawberry rhubarb compote was delicious! My husband had the Reuben. He is a bit of a Reuben aficionado and loved it. We visit pretty much weekly. Whether we are grabbing food or just drinks the experience has always been good. The staff is friendly and prompt. They are super patient with our 10 month old who often makes a mess with more food on the floor than in her mouth (sorry)! 1. Beer is good- we would like to see more hazy ipa options but overall we can always find something we like. A lot of them are small pours and we do prefer at least pint servings. 2. Pizza is solid- we prefer to get it well done but that's personal preference 3. Chicken wings, Brussels, hummus, and nachos are all great small plate options 4. Happy hour is tough to get to- it's a great deal on beer but for those of us that work 9-5s we aren't able to make it often. 5. We do find their entrees a little on the pricey side at least compared to others around. Overall Salt Springs is our #1 go to in Saline. The environment is very cool with the history of the building and it's always a fun time. Great for dinner with a small family or even larger groups. read more

Not wanting to drive too far, I discovered this bar & grill on Yelp. It was not too far a drive from hotel in Ann Arbor. There were two bartenders working tonight, a male and a female. The male bartender took care of me tonight. More of the importance of that later. I chose the beer flight as it was the best of two worlds. I could drink four different beers and only consume 16 ounces. The bartender would have let me do five different flights but I did not want to consume that much alcohol. I asked him to choose and selected following: Cashmere Zeppelin * American ale * IPA * 7.7% The Old Miner * English ale * E.S.B. * 6.2% Delicate Cinnamon Sour * American ale * sour * 6.2% Black Magic * German lager * Schwarzbier * 5.3% I enjoyed all but the last. After the first couple sips, I decided I had enough and requested the check. My appetite was mostly satiated from the morning, so I was not in the mood for a large meal for dinner. I ended up ordering the Pretzel Bites. Of the three mustard varieties, I definitely enjoyed the stone ground and highly disliked their beer cheese. Fortunately, the male bartender served me tonight. The couple sitting to my left was served by the female bartender. As another reviewer mentioned, she gave them the investment pitch. I was lucky not to be given the spiel by my bartender. If I had been one of the recipients of the pitch, my rating would have reflected my dismay. read more

I flew into Ann Arbor for the weekend and my son took me to his new favorite restaurant. I was amazed at the beautiful decor. The large stained glass windows. The ambiance of the spacious restaurant made for a grand adventure. We ate outside on our first trip. I had the eggs Benny and I must say the eggs were done just perfect. They had a delightful sauce on top. The country fries were delicious. I liked my food so much we had to go back for lunch. This time I had one of my favorites, the Reuben grilled sandwich. The flavors were delicious. With piled high corned beef and house made fillings. The fries were done nice and crispy with just the right amount of spice. We even went back that night for dinner. I had the saurbraten. Something you rarely see on a menu. It was absolutely delicious. I had a dark beer with my dinner and it really made for a great meal. I'm definitely going back again. A good sized assortment of craft beer they brew themselves, as well as cocktails, mocktails, and wine featuring Michigan suppliers. They also do beer flights! For food, they have different menus for brunch and dinner, with rotating seasonal dishes. They often source from local farms, and will list them on the menu, which is cool! I would describe their menu as elevated bar food with a global twist. They definitely have options to make everyone happy. Don't miss their house-smoked chicken (my fave is the Korean BBQ). Unique burgers with flavors like blueberry & meyor lemon jam, brie, etc. Perfectly textured truffle fries! It tends to be pretty busy and service can sometimes be a little slow due to this so plan accordingly! May not be the best option for a quick bite. In the summer they have an outdoor patio. As a fairly regular guest, how have I not yet reviewed Salt?! Well, now's the time... Salt is a local brewery and restaurant, beautifully housed in an old church. We usually sit at the bar, but have also sat outside in their large patio on multiple occasions as well as their main dining area. Service is consistently just OK. Even though I am not a big beer drinker, I do really enjoy the beers at Salt and always trying the newest offerings on their rotating taps. My wife said the portions were just right for a Sunday brunch and would ask for crispy bacon next time. My tofu scramble was a nice change with the kimchi and potatoes mixed together. The biscuit was my only small issue being small for the serving size. Either needed 2 small ones or one that was larger then served. I ran out of biscuit before the jam. Salt springs is my go to place when I have visitors from out of town. They have a large menu, with enough variety that everyone can get something they will like. Lots of vegetarian options for myself! This time we tried the squash pizza- summer squash, Fuji apple slices, caramelized onions, with a fried egg on top. Ive never had anything like it before, a 10/10!! The inside of the brewery is adorable-used to be an old church so the stain glass and little touches from the past are beautiful. The beer tastes like medicine.. sampled 4 My assumption is they clean their tanks with bleach . Then it's an open kitchen concept and the cook was screaming at the wait staff... A unique venue operating in a former Church in downtown Saline. A short drive from Ann Arbor, this is one of our favorite destinations. Their outdoor patio is great in the summer. Salt Springs offer a great variety of craft brews, ciders and cocktails. My wife and I like lighter brews so we tried the Siesta Cervaza, a Mexican amber lager which was well balanced not too much hops. Our dinner choices included the Grilled Pork Chops which had a spice rub and strawberry-rhubarb compote, with smoked sweet potatoes. The chops were done perfectly, tender and very flavorful. My wife had the Shrimp Linguine with white shrimp, garlic, white wine, butter and shaved Parmesan. The dish was fresh, light and flavorful. Salt Springs sources their ingredients from local farms so menu options are always very fresh and flavorful. Portions are generous. Our server Cade was very attentive, took great care of us and did not rush us as we were visiting with friends. Great ambience, indoor and outdoor seating options. The original stained glass is beautiful and the indoor seating feels intimate yet communal. Food was good, pretty expensive for the portion. We had halibut special with mash and beef tips entrees. I really enjoyed the halibut and found it worth the price but the steak tips did not have the greatest presentation and it was a small portion. My boyfriend said enjoyed them though. The highlight of ordering was the best black and tan. The lavender lemonade was also good but a bit excessive in price being the same cost as a beer. read more

Very disappointing. Such a beautiful venue, but the food quality has greatly deteriorated since our last visit. Shrinkflation? Seems they are trying to recoup the higher food costs by shrinking the portions. Chicken nachos: very hard to find the chicken. It was maybe a table spoon of very finely chopped/shredded chicken. Then a couple of black beans and a few jalapenos sprinkled on top with a small dollop of some sort of creamy white sauce. Chicken shawarma: one boneless chicken thigh topped with some sort of white sauce and a small scoop of bland yellow rice on the side for $23. Go for the atmosphere, but not for the food! read more

The physical restaurant is so cool, housed in an old church with beautiful stained glass, however our experience with the food was horrible. Came in on a Sunday ordered breakfast sandwich. It came on a biscuit that was rock hard on the bottom. I could not even bite through it. When I brought it up to our waitress she said, well they're all like that. Knowing it's basically inedible how could they keep serving it? I suggested she get me another biscuit top as the top was a bit softer. That seemed to work so I managed to eat it. The potatoes that came with our meals were like petrified pieces of chalk. Didn't want to send those back because of my issue with the biscuit. Beat salad was good but when you call it a beet salad, beets should be the stars of the show...only 5 small cubes on top. Maybe the beer is great? I loved the brunch here! I was visiting some friends in Michigan in October and they brought me here for Sunday brunch. I knew the space was converted from a church, and these re-invented restaurants are always so cool because you can see the layout and old bones of the place from its past life. We were a larger group, so we sat upstairs in a more private space for larger parities. We had 5 adults and 2 kiddos and our server took really good care of us. We also had a reservation, so I would highly recommend making a rez, especially during the weekend or if you have a large party. We has their brussels sprouts to share and they were phenomenal! My cousin, who is a first year at U of M and a recent Ann Arbor transplant had heart about these brussels, so we had to order them to try. I also got a Bloody Mary which was tart and savory and spicy and oh so satisfying. As someone who can be overwhelmed with brunch options and wants to try everything on the menu, their "Roscoe's Best of Both Worlds" was literally an answered prayer. One biscuit with sausage gravy and one eggs benny, served with crispy potatoes: this indecisive girl did not need to choose :) I had a blast with my friends and an amazing brunch here. Then if we want to bring a church into this, a forgettable guru once said, "don't let people rob you of your saltiness, or they'll use you as grit on the street." That's a statement of value, as in don't let this world convince you that you're mundane salt designed for the streets, when you were made for the palates of Kings. These are the brews good enough for Kings, Queens, and everything in between. This old church does what a church should; that is, bring people together for fine food and drink. The place is gorgeous, with a welcoming bar. It feels holy, and so do the brews. We've mentioned the brews a couple of times, but we need to be straight on just how wonderful they are. They are defining flavors, with mouth feel, and rich combinations. Their bar tenders are eager to share their love for the flavors. Their brewers are charismatic craftsman, eager to cater to discerning tongues. If you ever need a reason to get into craft beer, start your pilgrimage here, and then progress. This used to be an church and now hosts one of my favorite places to eat in downtown Saline. I absolutely love the outdoor seating and the ambiance with the outdoor fire pit if you can snag that spot. The smoker is also outside and smells amazing. It's a fun vibe. The food options are great and the drinks are always good. I love the flight options! This is a great place to go get a few drinks, as it's a local brewery or have a full meal with the family. We were at the restaurant for my father's birthday. The food was very good and the ambiance was nice. After we ordered, while waiting for our food, we heard some dishes crash in the kitchen followed by expletives (F***) being yelled by a kitchen employee louder and louder each time which the whole dining room could hear and see. When we asked the server what happened she just pretended as though she didn't hear the question. The manager came over a little while later and apologized for the incident and offered a free dessert which was nice. When the server came to the table and asked if we wanted dessert we advised that we would like one and that it was my father's birthday so we asked if we would get two desserts. She said no, only one free dessert, which in our mind nullified the attempt by the manager to make up for the kitchen incident. When the check came I selected a 20% tip based on what I perceived as ok service but not great. When I got home I saw the charge on my credit card reflected a 25% tip. I was confident i selected 20% tip. Overall the meal was let down by the service. Keith, the manager reached out after I posted a less than positive review and clarified the tip and also apologized for the service and kitchen incident. He went out of his way to make us feel valued as customers. I really appreciate him taking the time to address the issues that came up on an off night. The food is awesome, they're known for their bbq and beer, however their pizzas are also well worth trying and they have many options to pick from. I recently came for breakfast and had the best breakfast burger ever, get it. Additionally, we tried the orange juice IPA -- very interesting and the biscuit breakfast sandwich -- good if you love biscuits, I recommend the bacon. I'll be back to this secret spot! read more

Friday night fun. Grabbed a reservation for 8:15pm. Found that they close at 9pm. Wow! That's early for a brewery. The menu was interesting. Latin, European, and traditional American. It is very loud and hard to converse with people even across from you. The inside is beautiful. Old World German church where everything is super clean but looks old. I got a small order of the smoked wings. They weren't cooked to crispy like I asked. They did have excellent flavor that permeated through the meat. The fried brussel sprouts are NOT a healthy option but they are darn good. The bar makes a great old fashioned. We very much enjoyed the visit and will try it again. read more
