Hillside Animal Hospital is the most wonderful Vet practice we have ever used. Our 4 month old lab puppy, Floyd is our 5th lab retriever we've taken to Hillside over the many years. There are times we have had to take our dogs closer to home, and we just see a complete difference. Dr. Ben is always patient, knowledgeable and professional with all of our many questions (especially since it's been 14 years since we had a puppy). We never feel rushed, confused, (or pressed upon to add services as I see in October's review). This is simply not the case with Hillside. Their staff is pleasant, efficient, extremely caring, while also being knowledgeable & professional. I've never met anyone at Hillside that gave us less than excellent & exemplary customer service. Such a great Hospital with very friendly and professional staff. They go extra mile ( or two) to help their patients and even in difficult, very busy situations taking time and communicate and most importantly care. Special Thanks to Dr. Ben for his care, paying attention to very little details and establishing treatment plan that proven to be successful. I don't like how you come in for a simple ck up, and they push for expensive tests and treatments. I felt bullied into addional blood work and extra vaccinations for my dog, even when I told them right off I only had a set amount I could spend. The older lady receptionist gets very** rude when I question charges on my pets bill... I'm done with this vet and his receptionists condescending attitude.. read more

This is a truly wonderful & caring Vet Hospital. When we had to let our baby girl Daisy cross the Rainbow Bridge they were so wonderful kind and empathic to us. That was a rough day. Then about 2 months ago our boy Mr Bits decided he needed more roughage in his diet so he ate a bunch of pebbles..yes pebblesHe wss in hospital for 2-3 days and they called us everyday with his update and worst case scenarios as we hit each hurdle on getting those pebbles out of his tummy. We have had vets in California and Kentucky and by far these guys are the best vet we have ever gone to. Highly recommend them read more

Hillside vets are so very kind. We tylpically see Dr. Ben Harman and he treats my dogs as if they were his. I get truthful, even if painful, explanations of what is going on. This is my 3rd visit to Hillside and I am DONE! This last visit I sat in an exam room for over an hour - all to see the Dr. for 3 minutes, and of course still get a STEEP bill. My cat gets a clean bill of health, yet they still take him to the back and hold him until you pay - as if you are a second class citizen. This place has no respect for their customers. This vetinarion hospital is the best around. I have seen some reviews that were complaining because of the time it took to get in or the price they had to pay !! Or the fact that they take your animal in the back and hold it hostage till you pay? Now that's even funnier. Due to Covid things are done differently than prior to Covid and that's okay because the care they provide is what's most important and I feel like they are number 1. They have saved both my animals that were nearly on their death bed and they also have the privilege of sending mine off to the rainbow bridge with the upmost respect and dignity. This is my first Yelp review. I've been going to Hillside for a while now because I just got my first dog a year ago and live in Frostburg. Didn't really know where else to go. Everyone tells me HORROR stories about them, but I've kind of ignored them because they always seemed okay to me. Not great, but not bad. Today, though...I'm done. I took her in there once before to have her nails trimmed and I thought they still looked long, but whatever. Today- not only are the still pretty long (and some are splitting), but they didn't even cut some of them. At all. Like, didn't touch them. I also had her anal glands expressed. I heard a dog scream in the back while I was waiting and worried it was her. They brought her out less than a minute later and said it was indeed her. She "didn't like a finger up there". How did you get the job done in under a minute?? Is this why I have to bring her in SO OFTEN for her anal glands? Because you aren't doing the job? The first time I brought her in was 8 months after I got her and now, she's scooting again after 2 weeks. And Hillside is expensive!! They charge more than other vets in the area for a half-ass job. Done. Bye. I'm now one of those people who will recommend others elsewhere. read more
