I love the view of the pond, and the mountains in the background. The service is always great, and the ambiance is terrific. This time I ordered the Jack's Burger, and I was a very happy diner. I honestly think this burger ranks up there among the best burgers I've ever had. The brioche bun was fresh and not smashed, the BBQ sauce and bacon were awesome. The roasted garlic aioli is what makes this burger legendary. Also, the fries were my favorite waffle fries, as they should be for a $15 burger. The Steak And Mushroom Panini was also incredible, very flavorful, and cooked perfectly . Without a doubt, a five star dinner. Thanks to the crew at the Sandy Butte Bistro for making our stay at the Freestone special, and memorable.

The protein was good but the pasta was over cooked and all stuck together. My friend ordered an appetizer of a cheese and fruit plate. The cheese was good but the bunch of grapes that was on the plate half of them were rotten and we had to send them back. The bread came with herb flavored butter. So I asked for plain butter and the waitress told me they weren't sure they had any. Then she came back with a couple of packs of frozen butter. What kind of restaurant doesn't have real butter! When my meal came I asked for red pepper and again she was like I'm not sure we have any but she came back with a little saucer of red pepper. The lemondrops were too sweet. And my friend ordered a dry vodka martini and the bartender thought that that meant you use dry vermouth rather than really making a dry martini which is swishing the vermouth in the glass spilling it out and just using the vodka. We asked to speak to the manager and it turns out the manager was the bartender. And she was quite put off by the fact that we didn't Like the way she made the drink. When she served it she said here's your vodka straight up. But a dry martini is not vodka straight up. A bartender should know that. They did comp the cheese plate and they did comp the martini but you could tell that they were not happy with us. And we could hear the waitress and the bartender talking about us. So Unprofessional. Save your money

We ordered the dinner for two which was disappointing to begin with as most places will offer two entrees and two side dishes but here you were only allowed one side dish. The spring rolls were okay but the rest of the meal was trash! The chicken chow mein was tasteless and the chicken was unrecognizable. My partner ordered sweet and sour chicken but was served chicken balls instead. They were acceptable. I ordered the ginger beef. The sauce definitely tasted like ginger but had no spice to it and no carrots or green onions as it comes with at most Chinese restaurants. The beef itself tasted like sawdust! Also, the portions were very small and we paid over $50. Most other Chinese restaurants we have been to have been cheaper and we each got another meal with the leftovers. The server was nice. Needless to say but we will never be back and hope to spare others the huge disappointment.

If he is racist against ethnic Chinese I cannot imagine how rude he is to other ethnic groups. We did not complain about our meal (very average and overpriced). When we tried to tip the waitress she has to refuse as he apparently does not allow her to accept. I'm really sorry for that waitress and that owner is a racism.

Our waitress was so friendly and welcoming. Truly felt like she embodied the Methow Valley welcoming committee. A good reminder that friendly and welcoming service - or a lack of it thereof - can make or break even the best meal. We started with their signature nachos with our cocktails. These were delicious, and smothered in queso sauce, pulled pork, bbq sauce, and a dollop of cole slaw on top. I tried the sliders for my main course, and others at the table ordered salads with proteins. There was a fabulous selection, perfect for a lighter meal. These were so bountiful that there was a nice portion to take home for lunch the next day. My trio of sliders were a little underwhelming. The rolls didn't seem same-day fresh and the meats were a little dry. I wanted something light; next time, I'll order a salad with a choice of barbecued meats. In any case, it was a good meal in a fine restaurant with a fantastic server with a twinkle in her eye. Can't beat that in the middle of the Methow Valley!

And, let's be honest *checks map* there are not a lot of dining options in Mazama! In fact, earlier in the day, we actually popped in to ask if they took reservations (they don't) and to get a sense of the best time to arrive for dinner. The staff was super helpful and suggested coming around 5/5:30pm to beat the crowds. We followed their advice and showed up just after 5:30 and sure enough, there were still some tables available both inside and outside. We chose a shaded outdoor table and then placed our order at the register/bar. I went with the poke bowl because... of course I did. The portion size was generous, so generous that I couldn't finish it (probably because I had already devoured a massive pulled pork sandwich earlier at the Mazama Store... no regrets). The fish was fresh and the flavors were great. Service was impeccable. Everyone we interacted with was friendly yet efficient. Prices were also very reasonable especially for a relatively remote mountain town. While I didn't have any of the beers, there are plenty of craft brews available. All in all, Mazama Public House is a gem of a spot nestled in one of Washington's most scenic areas. Whether you're a hiker, cyclist, or just passing through, I highly recommend stopping in for a great meal and good vibes!
