Excellent find on our way out of Winthrop. Most of Twisp Works was closed (weekday right around noon), but Lal's Fork food truck serving Sri Lankan street food was just getting started in their parking lot. Smelled good. Menu looked good. Great impromptu lunch! They offer curry & basmati rice plates, and you can choose whether you want 1, 2, 3, or 4 curries. We shared a 3 curry plate and selected mushroom, dahl, and mango (they had a selection of meaty curries as well). Food came out promptly, and we enjoyed it at one of several picnic tables under a large tree canopy which offered protection from the rain this day, but would be equally good for providing shade on a sunnier occasion. Each curry was so flavorful, it was hard to choose a favorite. Even between the two of us we probably consumed a little more than half and took the rest with us. It was just as delicious later on. And the hot sauce accompanying it was really spicy and tasty, too. Lots of teens showed up as we were finishing our meal, so this must be a popular high school lunch spot as well. I wasn't expecting to encounter a Sri Lankan food truck in Twisp, but what do you know? There it was, parked on-site at Twisp Works (also worth checking out). If you aren't familiar with the cuisine, Sri Lanka is a South Asian island country in the Indian Ocean that is a neighbor to India. While it is not part of India, I would describe the food as having many similarities, while being its own distinct cuisine. For example, we had vegetarian samosa at Fork, and while many of the elements were similar, the taste was different (spices, some ingredients). The curries were also distinctive, including a fruit curry (mango). The most unique dish appears to be a classic Sri Lankan item called kottu roti, which was chopped roti bread mixed and stir fried with vegetables and meat (or just veggies). This was my personal favorite, though the spouse was pretty into the samosas and the mango curry, despite "not liking mango." It was super hot that day, but luckily the picnic tables have tree cover for eating. Judging by the weekday crowd of workers on lunch, Fork seems like a hit with the locals, and it's easy to see why. This would be food hard to come by in some U.S. cities let alone a pretty rural area of the Pacific NW. Check it out if you are visiting or live nearby! read more

Great food and service, and a lovely park to eat in! We stopped in on our way home from a N cascades camping / hiking trip. We got a selection of curries to go for dinner, and tried the samosas (crispy and delicious, with a tangy dipping sauce) and the egg and cheese Roti (filling and flavorful) for lunch. There is not a lot happening in Twisp, Washington and you can drive through town in the blink of an eye on your way to the North Cascades. Furthermore, road trip food gets increasingly sparse and depressing unless you like processed meat and burgers. Well--Yelp to the rescue! This food truck "The Fork" was such a pleasure to find. The seven people on my road trip were excited to try it out despite their initial disbelief that there would be an ethnic food truck serving Sri Lankan food in the Twisp-Winthrop corridor. It really doesn't make any logical sense. To cut to the chase: the portions were large and the food itself very tasty. The people were also super nice. I liked it enough that I wish there was something like this where I live. If I am ever up in this neck of woods again, I will make a special trip to eat here. Amazing food and service with a smile! We really enjoyed meet both Lal and trying multiple items from the menu. We got the Loins Share w 5 different curries, the samosas both veggie and beef, and the roti w excellent hot sauce. All of it was excellent and legitimate! OUTSTANDING find in Twisp! Delicious Sri Lankan food--there are curries (3 meat and 2 veg) plus street snacks like samosas and lentil fritters. We got all these things. I thought the potato-carrot curry and the potato samosas were the best but everything was very good. You can get a sampler of all 5 curries plus rice for $20. The truck seems to be permanently parked at the Twispworks building adjacent to a small park with grass, picnic tables and shade trees. We got it after a hike for dinner later--it all reheated very well. The mister on the outside of the truck, to cool people as they order, is a nice touch! They cater to food allergies! We tried the samosas, curry pork, rice, French fries and everything was delicious. Honestly, an out-of-the-box choice to have the best French fries ever, but it's true. My 8-year-old with food allergies said, "there's magic in the rice." Whatever the spice dip is for the samosas is so good. read more

Is amazing! We ordered the Thai salad and the chicken teriyaki. The portions were HUGE and the salad incredibly fresh and delightful. I added the pork for some protein and it was so yummy! The flavors were subtle but delightful- no over saucing here. Highly recommend you check this place out. It's located in an awesome space with a pollinator garden, public art, and a collective of artist spaces and Native structures. Fork is amazing! Not your average food truck! Best burger and fries in town, and possibly the whole valley. The fries especially are to die for. Also, the Korean chicken sandwich is great, as is the bahn mi sandwich. It's always nice having lunch at a picnic table on the grass under the big maple trees. You have to treat the people that order from you better. After restating my order twice, it was given to me incorrectly. I politely said that I believe they had forgotten an item. They said I didn't order that and that's why the repeated the order back to me. I told them that's why I corrected their repeated order multiple times. It was an extra charge and I was about to say, while pulling out my wallet, "well, let's get that paid for." All I got out was "well" before I was interrupted and told "that I don't need to get all worked up over it." All I was trying to do was pay for what was a simply miscommunication. But instead, the quite displeased cashier turned it into some big deal and starting complaining to whomever else was in the truck about me. How unprofessional to get all worked up over something so minor and then put that onto a first time customer. You Fork truck, you've earned your 1 star today. As far as the food goes, a little better than food truck quality at restaurant prices. About what I expected. I'd come back on a regular basis if I didn't feel like they didn't much want me there. Addicting! It started with the basil mint lemonade and quickly cascaded to the hand cut fries and burgers on an all to frequent basis. I finally redeemed myself yesterday with an Asian noodle bowl (with pulled pork added for extra goodness!), but quickly fell for the soft serve vanilla chocolate swirl ice cream! Awesome! read more
