Great food, great service, and amazing view while you eat. This restaurant has you leaving full and happy. Also very clean with a lot to choose from on the menu. My family has come here for years and we haven't been disappointed--neither will you be.

    Up and coming chef!

Food was good. I like that the salad bar now comes with some meals. And the views are outstanding.

The food is amazing and the staff is always so friendly. They have some great soups, and that shaved roast beef sandwich is amazing!

Pretty good place. About as high class as you can get in these parts. Boat rides offered in the summer.

This WAS our go-to steakhouse in the Sioux Falls area…read more And yes, I emphasize "was" sadly. Located about thirty minutes north of Sioux Falls in the small farming community of Flandreau, this little steakhouse became one of those hidden gems my husband and I found ourselves returning to whenever we had a serious craving for a good steak without dealing with the more corporate chain atmosphere back in the city. Unfortunately, the owner sold the restaurant earlier this year, and as of now no new buyer has reopened it. Which honestly makes me sad. There was something wonderfully unpretentious about this place. It was tucked quietly into a residential part of town near the local athletic fields and open farmland that stretch out with that classic small-town South Dakota feeling. You wouldn't necessarily expect one of the state's better steak experiences to be sitting there so modestly among homes and fields. But somehow, that made it feel even more authentic. The service was always warm, friendly, and deeply local in the best possible way. You never felt rushed or treated like just another table. It had that comfortable small-town hospitality where people genuinely seemed happy you came. And the steaks? Consistently very good. Were they the greatest steaks we've ever had in our lives? No. But they were reliably well-prepared, flavorful, satisfying, and honestly far better than many of the larger steak chains around Sioux Falls. The kitchen understood proper preparation and seasoning without overcomplicating things. There is a reason this place developed such a strong reputation over the years. The restaurant earned statewide recognition and frequently appeared in discussions of South Dakota's best steakhouses, drawing people from well beyond Flandreau itself. Including us. We happily made the drive many times because we knew we were likely going to leave happy. I truly hope someone eventually reopens the place and preserves what made it special. Small-town restaurants with genuine character, loyal followings, and heartfelt hospitality are becoming harder and harder to find.

I did appreciate that we were seated right away (reservations took priority over walk ins) but it took about 10 minutes before we were handed waters and menus. It then took 30 minutes before we received our appetizer to which we were then told the rest of our food was done at the same time. Typically, I don't prefer to eat my appetizer at the same time as my entree, but in this case I worried with how slow of service we were receiving I wouldn't see my entree for another hour. Almost all of our food was amazing. I ordered a house salad and the Fillet of Beef with mashed potatoes. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and wild rice soup and the prime rib. He said the prime rib wasn't anything to write home about but it did the job. Overall, service was slow but everyone was super nice. I think they just need to hire a few more people which I know is difficult to do. I really hope this place can find the help they need because the food is so good and I want to see this place continue to succeed.

When I visit a classic western steakhouse, I do NOT want the frills of the east. Please. But I do want a western theme interior, friendly faces and service, and generous servings of awesome food. Morrie's delivers on every level. What a great experience! First I liked the family portraits when you walked in. Like in the Big Easy, you know that means that here's a place that takes pride in tradition. Prompt and friendly service came next--GREAT classic old fashioneds. Appetizers, off the charts. We thought the Onion Rings were among the best we have ever had. Brussels sprouts, the same. So impressive. The New York strip--certainly among the top five of all time for me. Do add the onions and peppers, just another layer of great flavor. What is really wonderful is that the beef is locally sourced, from ranches in Nebraska and South Dakota. The pride of local markets really comes through, and makes. A. Difference. Sides? Yes. The root veggies are excellent but always order the chorizo hash browns. They are rich and thankfully they have a bit of a kick. They are filling--but hey box what's left and have for breakfast the next morning. My western trips will now include an overnight at Sioux Falls--that's how special Morrie's is.

I ordered the walleye, and it was very average--nothing memorable or worth the price. It felt like a run-of-the-mill dish that I could get at many other restaurants. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was a strong sewer/trap smell near the entrance, which wasn't the best first impression. While the odor didn't seem to carry throughout the entire restaurant, it was noticeable enough to stand out. The tap beer was also served much warmer than expected, which was disappointing for a steakhouse of this caliber. Overall, the service was the highlight of the evening, but the food, warm beer, and less-than-ideal first impression left us underwhelmed and feeling that the experience didn't justify the price.

One look at the menu was an epiphany... a rare, if not the only, time I could not find a single item I didn't want to order. The ambience is rustic central plains frontier. Straight ahead by a large open bar, you can see the meat on the rotisserie. Restaurant is large and cozy. Dark woods, modern lighting, many booths with ample seating. Floors are concrete and many nature pictures line the walls. This place has everything from handheld sandwiches to salmon and rotisserie chicken, a broad selection of appetizers and soups and salad salads. I ordered a Guinness draft and it came in a very large glass. Many tap beers to choose from. We ordered the woodfired chicken wings, a rotisserie chicken, which is accompanied with mashed potatoes and cornbread, and my husband also ordered a cup of corn chowder. The chicken wings I thought were delicious. The flavor is smoky and pepper. Not your traditional wing, but it includes the drumstick and the wing. You get six in total. It comes with blue cheese and ranch. My husband did not care for the wings. He thought they had too much of a pepper taste. My only concern was they were not served hot. They were barely warm when they got to my table. The blue cheese dressing was basically ranch dressing with a few dry blue cheese crumbles mixed in. Not a good flavor. The corn chowder was very mushy. It had the texture of baby food. He did not enjoy it. It also was served warm and not hot. Rotisserie chicken comes out with a thigh and drumstick of dark meat and white meat. However, the chicken is very dry. Taste like rotisserie chicken should taste But nothing special. The mashed potatoes are not creamy. But clumpy. They are red skin and I love when the skin is left on the potatoes. However, they taste like a baked Redskin potato with no salt, pepper, or butter. Flavorless. The cornbread has good flavor. But again, try. There is no butter to accompany it. Might taste good with some honey or butter on the side. I love the look and coziness of the restaurant. I wanted it to be fantastic. I was extremely disappointed in the food. I tried to make it work, but with the cold food and the lack of flavor, it was a big miss. When you take a bite of rotisserie chicken, and then you need to take a drink before taking your next bite of food, you know it is dry. When in Rome do as the Romans do. When in Sioux Falls Falls do not ROAM to this restaurant. I would not come back to this restaurant. I would give it 2 stars for the food. However, Darla was our waitress and she was very kind and attentive. She gets a five star rating. But the good service does not balance out the awful food.
