March 2026 Sioux Falls, South Dakota This place has a beautiful ambience. You enter and there is a warm and welcoming fireplace to the right when you enter. Straight ahead by a large open bar, you can see the meat on the rotisserie. Restaurant is large and cozy. Dark woods, modern lighting, many booths with ample seating. Floors are concrete and many nature pictures line the walls. This place has everything from handheld sandwiches to salmon and rotisserie chicken, a broad selection of appetizers and soups and salad salads. I ordered a Guinness draft and it came in a very large glass. Many tap beers to choose from. We ordered the woodfired chicken wings, a rotisserie chicken, which is accompanied with mashed potatoes and cornbread, and my husband also ordered a cup of corn chowder. The chicken wings I thought were delicious. The flavor is smoky and pepper. Not your traditional wing, but it includes the drumstick and the wing. You get six in total. It comes with blue cheese and ranch. My husband did not care for the wings. He thought they had too much of a pepper taste. My only concern was they were not served hot. They were barely warm when they got to my table. The blue cheese dressing was basically ranch dressing with a few dry blue cheese crumbles mixed in. Not a good flavor. The corn chowder was very mushy. It had the texture of baby food. He did not enjoy it. It also was served warm and not hot. Rotisserie chicken comes out with a thigh and drumstick of dark meat and white meat. However, the chicken is very dry. Taste like rotisserie chicken should taste But nothing special. The mashed potatoes are not creamy. But clumpy. They are red skin and I love when the skin is left on the potatoes. However, they taste like a baked Redskin potato with no salt, pepper, or butter. Flavorless. The cornbread has good flavor. But again, try. There is no butter to accompany it. Might taste good with some honey or butter on the side. I love the look and coziness of the restaurant. I wanted it to be fantastic. I was extremely disappointed in the food. I tried to make it work, but with the cold food and the lack of flavor, it was a big miss. When you take a bite of rotisserie chicken, and then you need to take a drink before taking your next bite of food, you know it is dry. When in Rome do as the Romans do. When in Sioux Falls Falls do not ROAM to this restaurant. I would not come back to this restaurant. I would give it 2 stars for the food. I've read some of the negative reviews, but tonight they were on point. For a Friday night it was not busy, the ambiance is fantastic and so are the cocktails. We tried the brisket tacos, bison New York strip, brisket plate and smoked chicken. The favorite at the table was the bison New York absolutely delicious . Made a reservation here for a large group and were confirmed. We arrived and were seated however service was extremely slow and then when one of our party asked to be given her check the female staff laughed at her and did not provide any estimate as to when it would be available. Wow! I was in Sioux Falls, South Dakota last week and we went to this place. It was really good! The server was very knowledgeable about the food. I had many questions as a first timer. I got the brisket omg it was delicious! My side was Brussels sprouts they were actually good too. That's something I typically don't get but what the heck. The place was nice. The place itself had atmosphere. You could see it wanted to be appreciated, like a dog that rolls over and begs you to scratch its belly. The lights were just right, the tables set neat, and for a minute you thought, this might be a fine evening. Well, that dinner was about as memorable as a rerun of "Hee Haw" without the banjo. I must give credit where credit is due: that artichoke and chipotle dip was the lone bright spot of the whole evening. It was actually memorable--and not in the way the cold potatoes were memorable, either. That dip came out warm, smoky, and downright pleasant, the kind of thing that makes you forget for a minute you're sitting in a place where the meatloaf looks like it was cut with a hatchet. The Cobb salad looked like it had been constructed by somebody who once read about lettuce in a magazine. French dressing? More like somebody emptied a bottle of Kraft barbecue sauce on top and called it gourmet. Now the meatloaf--Lord help us. The potatoes were colder than my ex-wife's heart, and the sauce wasn't on the meat so much as it was near the meat, like it had been waiting on a bus for the last hour. They gave me three odd-shaped hunks of loaf that didn't look like they belonged to the same cow, let alone the same recipe. The peppers and onions were the only things that acted like they wanted to be eaten. My son and daughter in law fared no better, and I saw the look on their faces--the kind of look folks get when they realize they drove across town for something that could've been microwaved at home. Meanwhile the waiter continually looked like we were interrupting his plans to quit tonight. The manager--he was a good man. Came over, apologized like he'd personally set the oven wrong, and seemed like he actually cared whether we lived or died after that dinner. Absolute hidden gem. Incredible food and great ambiance. Bit of context: I'm not a huge barbecue guy, but Roam has made me a barbecue lover. Also not a huge brisket guy, but Roam has made me a brisket lover. I tried the Brisket Burger and it was legitimately one of the best things I have ever eaten. Only downside is their cocktails. The one I had (Margarita) was *decidedly* average. Their special whiskeys and signature offerings may be much better, but I don't know. read more

My wife and I were traveling through Sioux Falls and randomly stopped at ROAM. Unbelievable doesn't adequately describe how fantastic our meal and service was - as is the unique ambiance. My wife had the Buffalo+Bacon+Brisket meatloaf. Yes, meatloaf! Fantastic! I had the salmon that was cooked to perfection. And the skillet brownie with ice cream was unbelievable. My friend and I decided to be seated outside as it was a calm day and she noticed inside was a bit chilly. There were high and low tables and enough space not to be so close to hear other people's conversations. Nice. We were waited on right away and received our beverages then put in our orders with the wait staff. I ordered the Pulled Pork Sliders with the yam side. My friend ordered a beef brisket sandwich and the yam side. Unfortunately I had to tell my friend, who had suggested Roam, that I was not particularly impressed. My supposed pulled pork was fatty and a couple chunks per slider. Not shredded and not very plentiful and the other ingredients overpowered the flavor of the pork. In addition, I felt the yams were plain and tasteless. My friend said her brisket was just a couple little chunks too. She was sorry and mentioned that she had eaten there a couple times and this time was disappointing and not up to her expectations. The wait staff did ask us how everything tasted but that was early, before we really experienced it well and to each other. I feel the wait staff service was very good and so not her fault, and she received a good tip. With the tip my lunch was kinda spendy for me -over $22. There are so many choices in Sioux Falls, so given this outcome, it is unlikely that I will return to Roam. Anyway, I hope Roam reads this critique and checks into why the food was sub-par and takes the appropriate steps to ensure all patrons have a good-to-great dining experience. Thanks. read more

My boyfriend got the brisket mac and cheese and it had very little meat on it, for the price it was not worth it. The people working there were decent but not overly helpful. The restaurant itself was very nice looking but the food quality did not meet expectations. read more

My worst birthday meal ever! After spending the day at the airshow and having family come in from Minnesota we have reservations for my birthday meal. We were sat on time and drink orders and appetizers were taken. The food orders for basically brisket and a different sandwich. Then we waited and waited and waited. Manager number one came and apologized for how busy the restaurant was and we would be getting our food soon. After an hour and a half of waiting for our second round of drinks and our food, we asked to see the manager again. Manager number one went to visit with his friends at a booth across the aisle from us and was not interested in coming to talk to us until the waitress came and said you need to talk to them again. At that point, I reminded him that it was my birthday dinner and my brother-in-law laid it out that we have been waiting an hour and a half for six people. We watched tables of two and four come in, order and get their food, eat and leave. Our second round of drinks came out and our food came that was COLD. Inedible and unsafe. Manager number two came over at which point my brother-in-law again explained the situation and that was unacceptable. At least on Father's Day when we waited an hour and a half our food was hot. Manager #2 decided to take $100 off our bill and then offered to remake my food. You've got to be kidding! Not to mention the rude couple that manager number one was visiting with now started yelling at us for disrupting their entire entirely eaten meal. Never again will I go to this restaurant nor will my family and anybody that needs a recommendation this will be the one to avoid. We went to a different restaurant and within 15 minutes we had drinks and hot food. read more

Excellently executed rustic western design and feel. Their wine selection is well suited to accompany the menu and satisfy the tastes of red and white lovers. Cocktails seem equally appealing though I am not as well versed there. We sat at the bar to get in quick and have more chances for local conversations. That worked out well! Celebrated my soon to be father in laws birthday at ROAM! This place is great and it is very nice on the inside and the outside is even better! We had a really nice waitress who was great to be around but there were some wrong orders that were brought out and an item or two that weren't supposed to be on the receipt. It really was not a big deal because our waitress was awesome but I'll still put it on the rating. The food was good but I wouldn't say it was as good for the prices. The lamb was lukewarm and it also did not have that much flavor alongside the macaroni and cheese. Everything else hit the spot and I will definitely say the ribs is WHERE ITS AT! Definitely order the ribs when you go. I will be going again in the future. Overall I rate it a 3.5! read more

I will start this rating with the service. The service was very good, I would give that 4 stars. Our waitress was very attentive making sure our drink were filled and that we had what we needed. Next is the Ambience, it was a busy Valentines day and the place was full but not loud or chaotic everything was smooth and calm. The Food is last. We had Brisket tacos for an appetizer and like every time before they were amazing and had me wanting another order of them. My entree was the Salmon and the flavor was very good the problem comes and the reason for the low rating is that the portion for the price they charge is very small. The portion was barely bigger that a hard boiled egg and for an entree that is way to small not to mention the price. Happy Hour! We had just one short night in Sioux Falls and we sure picked the right place when we discovered this awesome restaurant. The Happy Hour prices are terrific for both food and drink and everything was really good! Just might be the best wings I've ever had. They're smoked, spiced beautifully and have just the right amount of heat. Four big beautiful wings for $10. Husband had the Brisket tacos which he liked. And we shared the Artichoke, Spinach, Green Chile Fondue which we both loved. Each of us had a happy hour priced drink as well. Atmosphere is comfy. It's huge, so there's plenty of room if you've got a large group. We asked people in advance where to go for dinner and pretty much everyone said Roam. I am here to say that this might be the best restaurant in the entire state of South Dakota. I have struggled for years to find a restaurant in SD that I would give 4 stars to, let alone 5. Everything I had was excellent. The wings were fantastic, the service was amazing (Kiana is a keeper), and the decor was awesome, although we chose to sit outside. All of this made it a 5 star experience, but THE BEST part was it happened to be Whisky Wednesday. Holy sh!t, I'm in heaven! $3 off every whisky drink. The Old Fashion I had was perfect. Visited while in town for a training. Bourbon and BBQ, what's not to like? Quality is what they strive for here. I started with the Corn Chowder which has little pieces of Chicken. Creamy, warm, and delicious. Main course was Bourbon-Glazed Salmon. Salmon sat on a bed of Veggies, then Smashed Potatoes surrounded by a creamy lemon gravy. Nice and lemony. Salmon was cooked and glazed to perfection then topped with a charred lemon. The service was great. I was quickly seated and served. The restaurant is very roomy with several large booths and tables. Very good food, I had the pastrami sandwich and it was amazing, flavors were absolutely perfection! We had my one year old nephew with us and they were so good with helping us get him crackers and crayons, etc...Our waitress was outstanding. The food was average. They don't really allow any substitutions for sides, at least we were told we could not, we had to stick to the menu. Most choices were covered in some kind of sauce and this place really likes sugar, so be prepared for that. Even their ranch is very sweet. I had the rotisserie chicken, flavor was good, but it was overcooked and dry. My friend had the brisket, once again overcooked and dry. Prices seem too high for such low quality preparation. When I was staying in Sioux Falls I discovered this amazing restaurant. It has a great rustic decor and a llot if great menu choices. I wish I could go back to try the rotisserie chicken but when I ate there it was lunch time so I ordered the brisket sandwich with the glazed carrots. Service was excellent and was quick. The brisket sandwich was very good and the glazed carrots a healthy and tasty complement to the sandwich. I highly recommend Roam and really enjoyed my lunch there. read more

Had a pretty bad experience here. Was told I had to sit at the bar. Then was treated like I was dumb for not wanting alcohol from the bartender. My waitress/bartender spent mos of her time on the phone. I could've been in and out in 20 minutes but was there for over an hour and a half just waiting. The Cubano was recommended to me but was just smoked pork on Texas toast. I ordered the warm skillet brownie with melting ice cream and the skillet came out cold with the brownie at room temperature. Couldn't eat it. Pretty disappointing place. read more

Roam was my favorite restaurant after moving from California to Sioux Falls. Sadly, I always order the Brisket of Beef, (usually delicious,) but the last 3 times I have come with a friend or date, the meat was dry and burnt. I warned the waitress last night about my experience and said I wanted the meat to be tender, not burnt. She brought me a plate of blackened meat that was too tough to eat. I returned it and she brought me 4 tiny pieces of meat that tasted like beef jerky, no cornbread at all. The manager came over and finally gave me some fresh meat with another tiny piece of cornbread, but at that point, I was not hungry. I am so disappointed that I will not return unless they pay heed to this review. They have never offered a discount after all this. read more
